    Banana Espresso Martini
    Shai R.

This place is absolutely beautiful and in the perfect location; it definitely gives Tulum vibes. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet my expectations. We ordered the salmon skewers, rice, fries, teriyaki burger, banana espresso martini, and the matcha martini. The salmon wasn't fully cooked in my opinion and could have been grilled or seared a bit longer. The rice and burger were just okay, nothing particularly memorable. The fries, however, were delicious and seasoned perfectly. One positive was that the food came out very quickly. The service was decent overall, and our server did recommend a great drink option. Despite the mixed experience, I'd still consider giving this place another try.

First timers. Came to LA for the weekend and found this spot on TikTok. Located walking distance from Venice beach. We sat on the patio right away and our server was nice and friendly. We ordered the items below *Avocado toast - 2/10 *Teriyaki burger w/ fries - 7/10 *crispy shrimp app - 3/10 *tuna crispy rice - 5/10 *poke bowl - 9/10 *espresso martini flight (2 coconut + 1 strawberry yuzu) - 5/10 Spent about $200 overall Overall ambiance of the indoor outdoor setup was nice. Service was great. However the food was mostly a miss. Loved the poke bowl but that was about it. Bathrooms are super dim but cute.

If you're looking for a spot that instantly puts you in island mode, this place nails it Just a short walk from the beach, the Hawaiian-inspired ambience alone makes it worth the visit--laid-back, breezy, and perfect for unwinding. The food definitely lives up to the vibes. Everything we ordered was satisfying. The rock shrimp was crispy and addictive, the tuna poke salad tasted fresh, and the teriyaki burger was just okay--nothing bad, but it didn't quite stand out compared to the other dishes. And of course, Tito's shots to top it all off for a birthday celebration. Between the atmosphere, great food, and beachside location, this is easily a spot I'd come back to again. Perfect for a casual hangout, date night, or just soaking in those aloha vibes.

Decided to take the boys to Venice beach for the first time and ended up grabbing lunch at Belles Beach House. First off there is a parking lot right across the street but if you want to stay for more than 3 hours, you're paying $35. Once we arrived we were seated outside on the patio and the area was nice and clean and it has like this tiki vibe to it. Our waitress was quick to take our order and gave some good suggestions on food. I decided on the kushi-yaki ponzu king salmon, the rock shrimp and some fries. I also went with the marine layer and everything was solid! I will say that their portions are small and the burger is also pretty small. My 6 year old son ordered a burger and it's was the perfect size for him. Oddly, I thought my oldest son's chicken nuggets was the highlight of everything. The chicken was nice and tender. Overall, it was really good and I would recommend it if you are in Venice. Also, note that everything is à la cart so French fries do not come with the sandwiches. I will be back to try the chicken sandwich even though my friend said it was a little dry. OOOO 4 out of 5 Afros

Definitely giving those Tulum, tropical vibes and very fitting being in Venice and close proximity to the beach. We came here for a group dinner of about 6, where we were seated on time and the staff was friendly. The cocktails are tasty - tiki-style, sweet-taste reminiscent. I got the pineapple one which was tasty. Glasses seemed a bit smaller with the ice ratio so drinks finish up quick! Ordered to eat everything family-style. We ordered the crispy rocket shrimp, spicy tuna crispy rice, miso maple salad, mochiko chicken nuggets. Everything tasted solid, maybe not something I've been craving again but it's good! A friend was craving lobster rolls and then to their surprise it was actually lobster sushi rolls, but it ended up being a highlight of the night. I would consider coming back for trying other sushi rolls!

I would definitely recommend Belles to a friend! Such a fun vibe and very close to the beach! We had a reservation for my friend's birthday and our server was wonderful. I got the cheeseburger, fries, and Lychee Spritz and all I can say is wow. The spritz tasted like candy it was so flavorful! I scarfed down the cheeseburger because it was so delicious. Overall would definitely return!

Pretty impressive spot a 2-minute walk away from the Venice boardwalk. Belles has a beautiful modern design with light wooden finishes and is very spacious. The food was actually very delicious as well. My friends and I shared a crispy rice spicy tuna appetizer, a fried chicken sandwich, teriyaki cheeseburger and some fries. Everything was very yummy. I enjoyed the crispy rice spicy tuna and their teriyaki smash cheeseburger the most. Both dishes hit a lot of flavor notes, were so fresh. The burger was very juicy and crispy rice spicy tuna was of a perfect textural contrast, combining the tenderness and smoothness of spicy tuna with the right amount of crispiness from the rice. All the food was brought to us by a wonderful waiter who was able to recommend the best dishes. Will come back again!

Had a fun BDay celebration at Belle's. Its not exactly beachfront, but its right there Windward. Lovely ambiance. Had some great cocktails and a lovely luncheon. Prices are very fair for the location. Service was wonderful. I would definitely get the burger again! So juicy.

I have nothing but great things to say about our dinner here. The atmosphere and decor was cool but casual with a tiki bar vibe, the food was amazing. Every single dish was better than expected. The service was just right. They have adequate staff that comes around just often enough that you feel taken care of but your dinner doesn't feel intruded. It's located down in Venice Beach. Can't wait to go back here next time I'm in town.

I tried this place with my friend for her birthday. The ambiance is very cute, it looks a real island restaurant with Hawaiian style and decor. The food was good, they have a lot of great options that are tapas style. We ordered to share two kinds of handrolls, miso eggplant, ponzu king salmon, truffle fries and chilled edamame. Everything was delicious, the only thing - miso eggplant turned out to be too oily for my taste. Service was very friendly and attentive. My friend also got a birthday dessert which was a nice touch. I would definitely be back to try more things!

My fiancé and I stopped here with our daughter and her friend for a quick bite. The indoor-outdoor setup was perfect for a sunny day, and the outdoor seating let us enjoy the lively street scene while still staying comfortably shaded. The best part: they're pet-friendly, so our two dogs joined us without any hassle. It's a great spot for people-watching and soaking in the neighborhood vibe.We ordered a mix of small plates - Edamame - ponzu king salmon - Avocado toast -Steamed pork dumplings (absolutely amazing) -Yellowtail sashimi (also amazing) * * Watermelon mint spritzer ( very refreshing ) Our server, Santo, was genuinely accommodating with our kids and pups, which made the quick service even nicer. The staff kept things moving smoothly despite the crowd, and our food came out quickly. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Belles to anyone exploring the Venice strand. Great for a relaxed bite, pet-friendly ambiance, perfect for families and friends or just solo dinning

    Great Tiki Theme
    Sidney Z.

Belles Beach House is this beautiful "Tiki" style restaurant with a Hawaiian theme. The restaurant is huge and also has a rather large section for outdoor seating. Us four came for a nice brunch and Belles didn't disappoint. Their menu covered all facets of what a Sunday brunch should be and we all ordered something different so we could taste all of the differences. Starting with Belles: * EGG SANDWICH - applewood smoked bacon, Japanese BBQ sauce, provolone, sunny egg, tomato chili jam, avocado, English muffin * COCONUT CHIA GRANOLA BOWL - tropical fruit, raspberry compote, Greek yogurt, homemade granola * BURRITO - soft scrambled egg, housemade pork chorizo, jack cheese, crispy potato, scallions, serrano aioli Cheese * CRISPY ROCK SHRIMP - spicy aioli, chives, scallions * TERIYAKI CHEESEBURGER - wagyu beef patty, L.T.O, American cheese, pickles, special sauce Everything was excellent including the brewed coffee, espresso coffee and the cappuccino coffees Lest me not forget the bar making some pretty special libations (not me as I was the designated driver). The service was excellent and the ambiance was exciting yet bizarre, as this particular day was Venice Beach's Mardi Gras, and the usual crazies were even more crazy. I still LOVE L.A.!

This is a cute tropical vibe place in Venice Beach. The food was tasty but serving sizes are pretty small. We each had one drink (wine or beer at happy hour prices). We shared the chilled edamame (tasty but messy to eat) and the pork dumplings (there were four small one bite dumplings). I ordered the garlic noodles with shitake mushrooms and my husband had the shrimp and avocado salad.

Ask the Community - Belles Beach House

Do we need reservations for tonight at 8pm?

Yes. I'd always make one but you can always put your name in and walk around until your table is ready.

    How's the parking around Belle's?

You need to park and pay in lots near by. We will take Uber next time.

    Are dogs allowed?

Yes, we were able to sit inside with our small dog.

    Do they have soy-free options?

Are they open during holidays i.e. New Year's Eve?

They just opened in fall 2021 and were open for NYE but I would advise you call for info & reservations.

    Are dogs allowed?

No, not even if they are in a carrier (I tried). However, service dogs are allowed.

Parking? Street or own parking lot?

There is Street parking and a paid parking lot across the street. Looking forward !

Is this place owned by the same people as Larry's? I'm asking as I had a bad experience at Larry's just before they closed down

    No, different owners.

    Is it kid friendly?

Yes, took my kid - and dog - there. Probably daytime is best though and early evening.

    Do they allow dogs?

    Yes!

Hi question. I am vaccinated and I have my vaccination card but I lost my iD. Will I need it to show it with my vaccination card? Or can I just show my vaccination card alone?

they only checked my vaccination card and didn't match it to my ID last night

For reservations, do you need everyone to be present in order to be seated?

Yes, they won't seat you until everyone in your party has arrived.

Do you need reservations if just having drinks?

i don't think you do... we showed up on a sat night without reservation and we got right in for diner... the place is pretty big.. lots of tables :)

    1. Is there indoor seating? 2. Is it overpriced for what you get (serving size)

Yes to indoor seating! I don't think it's overpriced at all. I went with 4 people and we got 5 apps and it was filling :)

Can we order regular items during brunch hours?

Yes, they offer their regular menu during brunch.

Are children allowed? I can't find the answer on here or their website?

    i saw kids there

What time does their kitchen close?

    Maybe Midnight??

Are small dogs allowed on the outdoor patio?

Just called and they said yes :)

I turned to Yelp for help and that - as always - was the right move! Izakaya Gazen is a chain, originating out of Tokyo with locations also in Honolulu and Little Tokyo, L.A. It's got the true feel of an izakaya (Japanese pub or if you read the Japanese characters, Stay-Drink-Place). The name Gazen refers to the chain and the "Gazen style food - approachable and shareable. Izakaya Gazen is known for its house made creamy tofu, often eaten with soy sauce and wasabi - and it was very delicious. Unlike the izakayas I visited in Japan, I didn't have to remove my shoes here - kind of nice, but I miss the true Japanese tradition. One tradition I appreciated was the large format Japanese beers (we chose Asahi) and the small, chilled glasses to pour into. I haven't found this Japanese touch on the glasses anywhere else in the USA. Usually, I have to ask for an old-fashioned glass or a juice glass and the servers just don't understand that this is how you drink from a large bottle in Japan. As with all Japanese dining establishments in Japan, you're warmly greeted the moment you enter, by the sushi chefs and the servers alike with "Konnichiwa!". It's a cultural thing in Japan and one I wish was more prevalent in the USA. Our server was delightful and seated us at a window table. We examined the excellent menu and went with two offerings - the Chirashi Sashimi Bowl and the Tempura Bowl - both served with a small sample of their creamy tofu, a tray of appetizers, miso soup, and a salad. A really good value ($32 and $25, respectively). I rated both of them five-star for presentation, taste, and the very fresh nature of the food. It was an outstanding hirugohan (lunch)! There are lots of great places to eat in DTLA, but we're seriously considering another visit to Izakaya Gazen this evening!

It was as good as I remembered, and probably even better. I can't imagine letting another eight and a half years pass without going back. The only negative is that parking is either difficult or $15, which feels bad in a pretty quiet residential area. Better to take a car in any case, so you can enjoy the extensive selection of sakes. We shared a full-sized bottle, I forget which but I think it was a junmai daiginjo, and it was lovely. Tsubaki is such a nice, welcoming little izakaya. Service is great, the atmosphere warm and easy. You just want to sit back and drink at a leisurely pace. The food is excellent, with a robust menu of creative Japanese food. We shared everything, starting with a stellar kanpachi crudo with ume ponzu, shiso, sweet onion and habanero pickles, and furikake. My favorite dish of the night was the tsukune katsu. I love tsukune, the tare-glazed chicken meatballs you'll find in any yakitori place. This was my first time having them in katsu form, panko-fried and served over cabbage with Kewpie mayo and tonkatsu sauce. The chawanmushi was delicious, silky steamed egg custard topped with Dungeness crab, truffle salt, and mitsuba. Likewise the kinoko tempura, an array of maitake, shiitake, and enoki mushrooms fried light and crispy, with yuzu shichimi and tentsuyu for dipping. We got a skewer of bonchiri from the yakitori menu, delightfully chewy bites of charcoal-grilled jidori chicken tail. Finally, a plate of yakisoba, pan-fried noodles with house-cured Peads & Barnetts char siu, pickled green garlic, and cracklin. We got the hojicha parfait, and it was more or less my ideal dessert. Roasted green tea soft serve with sesame black sugar burnt miso and candied walnuts with cornflake dust. Cold, light, sweet. I could eat a whole one by myself pretty much any time. After nine years in business, Tsubaki feels like an Echo Park institution, and the kitchen is as strong as ever. This was a wonderful dinner, one I hope to repeat soon, with more sake, more yakitori, and more hojicha parfait.

Unfortunately the rice balls I wanted to try were sold out for the night- which how do you run out of something popular at a 7 PM dinner? Anyway, we had the fried tempura, garlic fried rice, short ribs, and chicken oysters. Everything was delicious and I would get these dishes again. But my standouts were the short ribs, they were tender and the marinade was light and fresh. The fried tempura was another standout for me because the sauce paired so well with the lightly friend asparagus. And I'm going to to say the chicken oysters- I think they were grilled to perfection with a tiny bit of wasabi. It's so hard to pick, everything tasted amazing and you can tell everything is thoughtfully prepared and well crafted with a beautiful presentation. Staff was friendly and helped us with our order. We ended up ordering Cocktails: drinks were all very strong New Dawn Smoked Cocktail - very smokey and very good, highly recommend Tokyo Banana Poison Apple Dishes: Squid Ink Karage - 10/10 probably one of my favorites Beef Tongue - 10/10 super flavorful Agedashi Tofu - 10/10 really can't go wrong Chicken Heart Yakitori - 10/10 first time trying heart, and it was delicious Corn Tempura Tower - 10/10 Wasabi Wagyu Bolognese - 9/10 Black Fried Rice -9/10 only because I don't like ginger and it has lots of ginger, otherwise it is a very unique and wellmade dish Miso Pork Spare Ribs - 9/910 a bit on the salty side but meat was pull of the bone good Tip: They also do validations! Would highly recommend checking this place out. This was a great experience and the servers were very attentive even though we sat outside with our dog. They were also attentive to my dog, providing a fresh bowl of water when we sat down.

BEEF TONGUE A LA LENGUA: They changed the sauce of the beef tongue from when I last had it a few years ago. It was okay, but I noticed the sizing/cut was different between my skewer and my friend's skewer. Flavor-wise, I wanted more of the yakitori grilled flavor. 2. PORK BELLY: The pork belly was okay. I'm comparing it to the pork belly skewer I get at Shinsengumi Yakitori in Gardena, which is a slightly thinner cut and has a special salt sprinkled on top that's a little more umami than what they serve here. 3. THIGH & GREEN ONION: Good, but just okay. SERVICE (3/5): Service was okay. I was with my friend, and we ordered the same skewers, but received them at different times. I thought that made for a rather awkward experience as I was often waiting for him to receive his order before we could start eating together. We were also waiting on his last skewer and received word that it was coming out soon, but eventually, we realized they had forgotten about our order. AMBIENCE (3.8/5): I can see this spot being good for a date or a casual get together with friends. TAKEAWAYS: As far as yakitori goes, Hatch is not my favorite. The food is just okay (consistent with my last review), but the service is really what let me down this time.

Initially they mentioned they didn't have uni available, but the attentive manager came to us and shared that he wasn't completely satisfied with the quality of the uni that day, though he was still willing to serve it to me. I really appreciated the honesty and passion for quality. I came here eyeing on the uni pasta, so I had to go for it. Maybe he was right, it was just OK. It wasn't necessarily the uni itself, but the pasta and cream sauce felt slightly overcooked and a bit dry. It could've used more sauce to bring everything together. Still, no ragrets (iykyk). It's something you should try here . We also ordered the hand roll trio and toro, which was yummy. The fish was fresh, beautifully cut, and served in generous pieces. They're partnering with Death & Co, known for their craft cocktails which explains why the drinks here are so uniquely curated and well mixed. Definitely worth exploring their cocktail menu.

Food is delicious, drinks are good, and parking isn't hard to find if you're willing to walk a little. The design kinda dark inside, but the patio is always nice. The best part? I can be in and out in less than an hour if I wanted!
