I have been so excited to try this place and finally made the time. I guess I caught them at a bad time , breakfast was busy and no one came to say a word to me the first 10 min so Then I asked the hostess if the server knew I was sat . She then said ordering from register would be faster , great I ordered to go . They said 15 min I came back in 20 , they said another 5 more minutes . Came back to receive this . For over a 30 min whole time wait to receive this , just didn't feel good or worth it . ( the box wasn't even closed and this was the presentation ) -the owner reached out to me shortly after my review to apologize, follow up and refund me which I truly appreciate. I understand morning rush but a little communication goes a long way . Looking forward to trying it again in the summer. read more

I think Fig Tree is a really popular restaurant alongside Venice Beach, and it was the perfect first and last restaurant we went to in LA during Coachella weekend! We got a mix of things, but I think the breakfast plate was the best thing I tried. Service was quite good, and we got our food and drinks really quickly. Fig tree was such a treat. Parking was easy, a stroll along the beach set the mood... and then came a warm welcome from the most vibey hipster LA waitress I could imagine. Effortlessly cool, casual like an old friend. Then a different waiter with equally cool energy took our order. Food was amazing. Coffee was perfect. Fig tree was such a pleasant surprise! I honestly assumed it must be overhyped because of the location but I was so wrong. We went on a Friday afternoon and even though it was packed, we were able to find outside seating quickly. Everything we ordered was absolutely phenomenal! You must get the Coconut and Plantain pancakes and the Chicken Tinga Hash - such a perfect combo or sweet and savory. Those pancakes are actually made from multi grain flour and their texture was amazing! The coconut matcha was creamy and delicious. The outdoor seating is perfect for enjoying a hearty meal while people watching. There was a guy playing some songs across the street and the whole ambiance was nothing short of perfect. If you're looking to stop for chips, guacamole, and a cocktail with a view of Venice Beach, this is a decent spot for that. The cocktails are yummy. The service was very inconsistent ranging from super friendly to completely ghosting us. Shortly after sitting down, we asked for two new water glasses because both of ours were dirty with food in them. When the waitress picked them up, she simply placed the dirty glasses back next to the clean ones, presumably to be reused for another guest. That was enough to almost make us get up and leave. After we returned home, I realized we had been overcharged for extra drinks. Unfortunately, after reading other reviews, it seems this is not an isolated event. So my advice would be if you do come here be sure you carefully check your bill. read more

Down in the area for work near Venice Beach and this spot popped up at just the right moment. When we arrived it was almost empty, which honestly made the experience even better. It did pick up toward the end, but service never skipped a beat. Attentive, warm, and genuinely top-notch without hovering. The food leans toward classic comfort happy hour rather than full "destination dining," which is why this lands just shy of five stars for me. Everything was good, thoughtfully prepared, and enjoyable, but there wasn't quite that singular wow bite that locks in a perfect score. I very much enjoyed the small menu with the farmer call out on the back! That said, the natural wine list absolutely deserves its own applause. I ordered an orange wine that was a textbook example of the style: bright, balanced, and refreshingly free of funk. It paired beautifully with the Black Magic Baja oysters. They were on the smaller side, but beautifully briny, clean, and honestly perfect little salty slurps. The Kalamata olives surprised me in the best way. I preferred them far more than the green olives, which almost never happens for me, so credit where it's due. The salmon tostada was lovely and satisfying, and the ceviche was light, fresh, and pleasant, nothing overworked, nothing heavy. Overall, this is a place I really enjoyed and would absolutely return to, especially for breakfast. Calm atmosphere, excellent service, solid food, and a wine program that clearly knows what it's doing. Comfortable, unfussy, and quietly confident. I was walking my dogs on the strip and stumbles across fig tree ! They had a cute patio and allowed me to bring my fur babies in - The service was amazing they were on top of it They let us enjoy our food without to many interruption . The food was so good I forgot to take a picture - we got a half dozen oysters that were phenomenal- they had so many options that looked amazing. Unfortunately I was doing keto so I got the burger minus the bun. It was so good that Ali sauce was amazing. After stopping by here for lunch, I decided to host my birthday party here. In the beautiful outdoor garden, I hosted 30 of my closest friends and family members. Matias, the owner was responsive and easy to work with from the beginning. He provided me with his cell phone # and we were able to communicate both via text and email. He also generously provided a complimentary tasting as I haven't tried many of the items on the catering menu. I ended up hosting a birthday lunch on an early October afternoon and the weather could not have been more perfect. It was warm with a cool breeze. The menu I ended up with were the following: Appetizers: 1. Ceviche (beautiful and balanced in flavor) 2. Japanese sweet potatoes (one of my favorite starch cooked and seasoned perfectly) Entrees: 1. Steak with French fries (need I say more? This was a hit!) 2. Chicken sandwich with avocados and bacon (flavorful and the bread with perfectly grilled) 3 Grain bowl (healthy, light and filling) Dessert: 1. Chocolate churros (My absolute favorite! I hold an annual end-of-the-year breakfast at Victor He for my students provide these, usually a party of 15. Big trace sets up a long table on the side patio, and the setting is really beautiful, with a view of the ocean. Efraim is usually my waiter, and he and his team are attentive and efficient, and provide wonderful service. Of course, most importantly is the Food, and our group got such a wide variety of breakfast entrées, and everybody was thrilled., Not only was it delicious but the presentation was artful. I came here both times for breakfast as they have a great breakfast deal (%50) off all breakfast items! Service is great and overall, I'm excited to come back. Fig tree is right on the beachfront in Venice, the place has a cool vibe. We had the Rockfish ceviche and salmon avocado tostada to start. The ceviche wasn't our favorite; the fish didn't taste fresh and the coconut milk sauce really collided with the flavor of the lime and fish. Our next course was a spicy rigatoni bolognese that was undercooked and lacked flavor. For having such a premier spot right next to the ocean it was a bummer the food wasn't enjoyable. Our cocktail was a charred pineapple infused mezcal, Montenegro, and angostura cocktail. None of those flavor profiles came through, it tasted very bland and unbalanced as well. A great place to catch up with friends! A group of us came here for a friend's birthday and they were super accommodating with changing up the table numbers last minute. It's a cute venue with a classic Pacific Ocean vibe. A few tables were celebrating birthdays, so I guess this is the place to be if you're celebrating! Wonderful! I had such a beautiful time. Breakfast by the beach? Of course! Yes please. But the food was also very good because you know ambiance is one thing but the food can be a different story. I was debating if I should make reservations but I just decided to take the risk and walk in instead for Sunday brunch. We just waited 10-15 min and got seated down outside with ocean views. A great addition was the guitarist playing soothing tunes on the boardwalk (not part of the restaurant). We both ordered one hot and one iced plantain cacao latte because that just sounded so interesting! And we were curious which temperature it would taste better so we each got one iced and one hot. The hot one turned out to be better which I knew it. We both ordered the Fig Tree Breakfast plate which made us feel like we were having a nice home cooked meal. The plantain's were yummy. I loved how they added some salt to the avocado. The beans were tasty and so was the piece of bacon. The sourdough bread was a little too toasty but overall good. I wasn't feeling the jam though. Service was friendly and attentive. Shout to Sandra! Such a nice soul who brought out a small icecream cookie for my birthday and asked what I was doing. She was so friendly and inviting. Popped in here for a weekend brunch with friends and 10/10 I plan on coming back! Located right along the strand in Venice beach this is a prime location for people watching with a stellar view and great food. This is a great spot to bring family or friends when visiting Los Angeles. Parking is always a bit tough in Venice (as expected) so just allow yourself a bit of extra time to find lot or metered parking (if you're lucky). First and foremost, watch out for the charges! They added two extra drinks and overcharged us, so we had to ask for a separate bill. So, be sure to double-check the bill and review the items carefully. Next, we discovered that they automatically include a 20% gratuity and a 2% healthcare fee, both of which are taxed. This results in over a 24% extra charge without any clear notification. It's pretty frustrating that gratuity and healthcare fees are added to the bill, and on top of that, sales tax is applied to both. It all feels a bit sneaky. Prices really should be transparent from the start. (If you eat $100, you should pay $134.334 with, the way they give you the bill). As for the quality, the food wasn't the best, but it was okay! But they charge you 23.5 for a burger (the burger doesn't come with fries, so it costs an extra $4.5), with a quality level of a $10-15 burger. The restrooms weren't kept particularly clean. Also, the chairs weren't sturdy, so I constantly felt like I was about to fall over. At the end, when we asked for a separate bill, we were told that we needed to inform them before ordering, which seemed to show the waiter didn't want to put in the effort to give us separate bills. read more

My friends and I came here for Sunday brunch on one of the first sunny days of spring. All the reviews are true, this restaurant does have a Tulum inspired ambiance. The patio is large, and dog friendly! I do recommend securing a reservation since it can get very crowded for brunch. Especially since it's right on the boardwalk. I ordered the chilaquiles and my friends ordered the chicken tinga hash. Both were delicious. I highly recommend requesting the hot sauce with the chilaquiles if you're a spice lover such as myself. The dish comes with a mild verde salsa, but I always appreciate an added kick. I'll definitely be coming back to Fig Tree this summer, especially on sunny weekends where I can chill on the patio. read more

Wonderful spot on the Venice Ocean Walk! Visited on a Saturday late afternoon. It was busy, but not overly crowded like some of the more "scene" places. They were dog and baby friendly. Got a wonderful table that was spacious and had a great view of the beach and ocean. Food was all delicious. Our table tried the smash burger, chicken sandwich, ceviche, and shrimp roll. The rosemary fries were great, especially if you get a side of the pesto aioli (which comes on the chicken sandwich, but is so good with the fries). The table loved the espresso martinis, but the sabi wabi was definitely a highlight. Clarified alcohols are so delicious and creamy. Highly recommend if you want a slightly more chill place on the Venice Ocean Walk. read more

This is a cute beachside spot in Venice. The parking situation is a nightmare because Venice is so touristy and popular. I had to park a few blocks away because there isn't much parking nearby. But I came here with a friend for dinner during the week without a reservation, and they were able to seat us outside right away. It got a little chilly as the night went on, so the heaters were much appreciated. Our waitress was really nice and personable, so that was a plus. I ordered the pacific fish cakes with a side of fried plantain. The fish cakes were good, but the portion size was so small, I was still hungry after my meal. I went home hungry. The vibes in here are great. It was definitely a little chilly so they should probably invest in some more heaters, but thankfully we had jackets. Our service was pretty good. The food was very very good. The tostadas were very fresh with great flavor, and the seafood pasta had this amazing creamy umami sauce. However, the reason why this is sadly getting 3 stars and why we did not stay for dessert (which probably would've been delicious) was because throughout the second half of our dinner, we saw a MOUSE running around. It was running underneath our table, and we had to keep checking to make sure it wouldn't run over our feet. This definitely took away from the experience, and raised some questions as to why there was a rodent in the dining area. Also, one of the employees was at our table when we had to jump up and back away from the mouse that was literally in front of us, and he barely reacted and just laughed. I feel like he probably should've told our server who could've given us a free dish, or apologized at least. Overall, I'd love to come back here if there was a promise of no mice, because the food was great. Just beware of rodents. read more

Becareful of weird added fees on your bill. They make you the customer pay for fees at the end they do not tell you upfront such a service fee and for example on bill I had to pay $6 dollars added fee for healthcare for their employees which sucks for the waiters because it probably affects their tips. So you're already pricey food ends up being adding a made up service fee, healthcare fee and tip 20% if that's what you normally tip. Ridiculous. Not going back. read more

The fries and sweet potatoes were cooked well, and crispy! However, the avocado chicken melt was more disappointing. The bread on the chicken melt was hard and dry but the chicken itself was cooked fine. For drinks we ordered a matcha and a hibiscus tea. The matcha tasted good, however the hibiscus tea was very sour and not sweet. The restaurant is located on the beach which is nice after enjoying a walk. read more

Would NOT go back. Arrived for breakfast shortly after opening at 8. No one waiting in front of us. Hostess was busy having a conversation about life with one of the busboys. Server came over, didn't apologize for delay, didn't introduce herself, and asked what we'd like to order. Very brusque NY style service. Food came quickly however. Less than 10 minutes after putting in the order, both chicken tinga and chilaquiles came out. Best way to describe it is extremely beautiful presentation but the food tasted really sour. Salsa on the chilaquiles was supposed to be tomatillo but maybe it went bad or they added too much lime too it. Usually a huge fan of tomatillo but it seemed too overpowering and just mouth puckeringly sour. Very disappointing as its hard to kill chilaquiles. Sweet potato chicken tings hash was tiny portions and overwhelming sweet. Sure probably as a result of the sweet potatoes but there was no other sauce on the hash leaving the poached egg as the only liquid binding the dish together. Again it looked beautiful but the dish didn't have any substance. It was a typical LA meal, pretty for pictures from the outside, vapid and insecure on the inside. Took the establish another eternity to cash us out. Server didn't check on us once with busboys doing most of the condiment and salsa runs back/forth. I've had this place on my list for a while now, so the girls and I chose to come here for our Friendsgiving brunch. The ambiance is great, right on the beach and the patio is airy with boho decor. However, the food was super underwhelming. We had the ceviche, breakfast burrito, and burger, all of which were just okay. The breakfast burrito with chorizo was heavy on the egg, potato, and green peppers; it really didn't have much flavor and needed something else. The service was alright, but we had to wait a while for the check and some boxes. Overall, not necessarily a negative experience, but there was nothing memorable about Fig Tree Venice that would bring me back. Like most places in Venice, parking is a challenge, so make sure to account for that.
