I've had this place on my list for a while now, so the girls and I chose to come here for our Friendsgiving brunch. The ambiance is great, right on the beach and the patio is airy with boho decor. However, the food was super underwhelming. We had the ceviche, breakfast burrito, and burger, all of which were just okay. The breakfast burrito with chorizo was heavy on the egg, potato, and green peppers; it really didn't have much flavor and needed something else. The service was alright, but we had to wait a while for the check and some boxes. Overall, not necessarily a negative experience, but there was nothing memorable about Fig Tree Venice that would bring me back. Like most places in Venice, parking is a challenge, so make sure to account for that. We got lucky and found street parking on a neighborhood street, there's also plenty of paid lots nearby. read more

A few friends and I came here for brunch yesterday. One friend and I got the breakfast burrito and the other got the pancakes. Everything was delicious! I'm not usually a green salsa girl, but the side of it with the burrito was delicious. Two of us also ordered espresso martinis and one ordered a regular martini, and we all loved our drinks. The regular martini comes with two olives and an anchovy, which my friend loved. Sitting on the patio was so nice, and it was the perfect temperature and had a nice breeze. I liked that we were under some cover so that we didn't heat up too much, and it made for a great brunch! It was pretty expensive for what we ordered (roughly $40 split three ways and with money off from inkind), but it was very tasty! read more

This is a local favorite of friends I was visiting, and I can see why! First of all, you're at a splendid spot right on Venice Beach; we sat at a table outside where I was amused to see space heaters distributed among the tables--y'know, in case the 70 degrees and sun = cold in your book. (Lol; I live in Maine.) Fig Tree is that perfect SoCal beach vibe: chill and relaxxxxxxxed, a range of quirky and healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Among 3 of us we shared a cauliflower soup, a grain bowl, rosemary fries, and the kale tahini crunch salad: all good, if not spectacular (the salad in particular was yummy, but overdressed thus not the crunch I'd been hoping for). But never mind. Like I said it's a vibbbbbbbe and that we did out on the patio in the sun, with a few pleasant and laid-back servers dropping off food and drink at intervals, and someone sitting near had a lovely beach Siberian husky everyone wanted to pet, and the people-watching was fab, and . . . just go, and chill, and enjoy! read more

We just came here without a reservation for a little bite after a beach day as we had had a late lunch. Overall pleasant experience and efficient service. The place is cute (right on the Venice strip) and food was decent/reasonably priced despite the location. It was a bit chilly out so I got the Lentil soup and sat right by the outdoor heaters. It was a quick meal, perfect for the occasion. Disappointed with the restrooms, they were not well cleaned when we came in the evening so I believe this is an area of opportunity. After scouring the website, and lovely conversations with the owner, Matias, I decided to host my engagement party at Fig Tree, with 25 members of my friends and family. It was a beautiful experience, with the most gorgeous sunset (the golden hour lighting reflects on the walls of the private room in a lovely way), right on the beach. We selected five hors d'oeuvres, listed below, all of which were a hit amongst the attendees -- especially the flavorful sliders. Additionally, we had a drink package with incredibly delicious spicy margaritas. - salmon avocado tostadas - grilled seasonal veggie bites - heirloom tomato toasts - burger sliders - churros & chocolate Mitchell and the other bartenders were SO friendly and helpful. When we wanted to move a few of the tables inside / add chairs, they were prompt with the adjustments. (And Mitchell curated a perfect playlist!) Although this place has a prime location right along the beach, with lots of seating, this place had just about the slowest service ever. I got here early around 8:30am and there weren't that many people here yet. They advertise half off breakfast from 8am-9am on the pedestrian sign outside but when we came in, they said it's Monday through Friday only, which isn't notated anywhere on the sign. The food is good but pretty pricey but given the prime location, I can understand. However , everything took forever including the coffee refills, getting the check, getting someone to take my payment, so don't come here if you need to do anything afterwards. read more

The FIG is such a cute little gem located inmthe heart of Venice right on the strip. We walked past the Fig and the first thing we noticed was the decor which was decorated with flowers and it was beautiful. We kept walking and then turned around because we couldn't get this restaurant out of our mind, we stopped in for a few drinks and appetizers. We settled on chips and salsa and a half dozen oysters plus a glass of champagne and an espresso martini. the chips and salsa and guacamole were delicious the chips were hot and fresh. The oysters were delicious and were accompanied by a horse radish vinegar sauce however I love an extra spice so asked for Tabasco and they brought this amazing habanero sauce that went good with it. The service here is very strange.. it will go from cordial and polite to not having anyone check on us for 30 minutes, and when they do, it's snippy and rude. When we pointed out missing items from our order, it was met with annoyance and a "uh ok... i don't know..." food was not bad, but the selling point here is definitely the ocean front location. The food was delicious! A friend and I were walking the Venice Beach Boardwalk looking for a place to eat dinner. Fig Tree has a nice patio area (with heat lamps!) and the indoor seating is lovely, too. We chose outdoors where it was a little noisy at times, but worth it to watch the sun setting. We shared the Fig Tree Grain Bowl and the Artichoke Squash Pasta. The pasta was rich, but tasty, so the grain bowl (also delicious!) offset it nicely. The house white wine was also very good! Had relatively high expectations due to someone praising this spot as the best breakfast in Venice, and the glowing reviews on this platform. However, our experience left so much to be desired. We were greeted by a host soon enough and seated outside; the greenery and people-watching was pleasant, but flies intruded on the experience frequently. The bathroom I went into was also not kept well - it had an unpleasant odor, the soap seemed low-quality, and there were no paper towels. It took quite a while for us to be greeted after being seated and for water to be served to us. When it finally came, the server said he'd be back right away to take our order. This turned out to be at least 20min later. I ended up getting the breakfast burrito (I was tempted by the seafood pasta but deviated due to reading that the portion size is not up to par with the price). Hoped that the food would salvage our perceptions; however I found the burrito be incredibly underwhelming. None of the ingredients seemed to be seasoned (might not have even had any basic salt or pepper) and the green sauce lacked depth as well. A star is given for the busser being prompt and courteous, and for the location on the boardwalk with a view of the beach. read more

Matias and Bryson were awesome. Had my daughter's bridal shower here this past w/e. Both my daughters said it was perfect. We decorated the room with tons of flowers so between that and the view of the beach and the good food/liquor it was a perfect choice. My only tiny pet peeves were that I had to ask for better candles/wax into the vases that weren't lit and it seemed they didnt have a lot of that so i was surprised but they did use smaller vases with more wax. also i had to ask them to give us fresh plates for the entrees. they were going to serve all food on app plates. DESPITE these teeny tiny things. This is 5 stars and i am a tough critic! oh also i would have preferred 3 entrees/apps as opposed to 2. the salmon avocado chips looked scarce on the platter but all food good-- grain bowl, pear salad, shrimp rolls, churros and coffee all YUM! thank you. read more

We had the most amazing experience hosting our baby shower at this restaurant. We spent many hours searching for a venue that would be accommodating, have great food and beverage options, and that would be memorable. After speaking with dozens of different venues, it was clear that Fig Tree was the clear winner in all of these categories. We were immediately connected with Matias, the owner, who made every step of the process so incredibly easy and painless. We hosted our party on the outdoor patio that overlooks the ocean and sunset with a back section covered by a tree and it all just was absolutely stunning. We worked with Matias and the chef to create the perfect menu for our event, and picked several incredible cocktails to serve. They were very flexible with our set up, accommodated all dietary restrictions, the servers on the day of were amazing and treated us and the guests like friends, and we even had a musician who frequently works with the restaurant play live music for our event. We were able to set up a Photo Booth in the back under the tree, which is a perfect place for photos and for guests to sit. Everyone had an amazing time. Decidedly ok. Our waiter was very indifferent to us the entire meal. We were seated for our 6:45 reservation and he didn't even acknowledge us for 15 minutes and that was only after we went back to the hostess stand asking if the server knew we had even been seated. When he finally acknowledged us it was only ask if we decided what we wanted to eat like he had checked on us previously and we weren't ready. No welcome no offer of water no take drink orders first. The food was fine but generally lacked flavor. The ceviche sauce was good but the fish didn't have the flavor in it. The pasta was sopping in oil with little herbiness or saltiness. It was cooked well though. The patio was really beautiful but we were seated so far back that they closed the plastic barrier and we couldn't even see the colors and the sky over the ocean after they did that. The beachside oasis that's a hidden gem that can't be passed up if you visit the boardwalk. Reservations are not required but definitely recommend for a party of four or more. This cafe is perfect for breakfast and brunch with the added dinner bonus. The presentation is eye pleasing and the service is spot on. Well, most of the times I've been it's been like that. My favorites are their Plantains and Coconut plate if I'm in the mood for sweet and I'll get the Gravlox plate if I want something lighter. As for the coffee, I just stick with the cortado with the sweet on the side of the cold brew. The vibe is super chill if you arrive early but once it's packed? It's a party for sure! Came here for the vibes and food! The food was better than the vibes... We ordered the Steak and Eggs, Conchiglie with Ricotta and Spring Greens, and Matcha Latte. The Steak and Eggs were the best overall! They use grass fed Australian beef made just perfect at medium rare. I got the eggs scrambled and they were a bit salty, but it was still good. The pasta was a bit sour, but it was really chewy. I would say this dish and the matcha latte is bit mediocre. The matcha does taste good though. Service was okay. Super cute beach front restaurant! Their outdoor area is sizable with lots of shade. Came for lunch on a Saturday. Had to wait in a line for a table for about 20 min. Definitely recommend getting a reservation. Tomato Garden Sandwich - Huge tomatoes. Love. Wish their aioli was a liiiitle more acidic but it was still delicious. My biggest issue were the greens used. Lots of hard stems and difficult to eat. Couldn't take a bite without having all the stems falling out of the sandwich. The experience at fig tree is by far the most disappointing experience dining in LA. We had a reservation and right when we got there we had to circle 3 times for parking so we called and try to ask them to hold the reservation but no one ever answer. As soon as we got to the space they already let go of our reservation as we were 10 min passed the grace period and we told them we called but you guys didn't answer. The guy then said oh shit really? Then he walked away to say he will go talk to back and get us our table. Finally the host sat us down, we already had the menu but as time goes by, 15-20 minutes the waitress didn't even acknowledge us. We had been seated at the corner and the waitress kept chatting to another table (not taking order or receipts for that table) just casually continue talking to them for more than 10 minutes. We had been trying to get her attention and she had her back towards us so we couldn't. Then finally the water boy came by after 15 min to give us water for first time, we told him that we couldn't get the waitress and if he can tell her we need to order. He kept on showing the hand gesture ok ok, but he just walked right pass by that talking waitress without letting her know we had been waiting for her to take our order. Now, we continued to wait, and she finally finished the conversation. I thought she was gonna come to our table as we were right down the corner, she went to the other corner table next to us, took their request, then she simply bypassed our table without even looking and she went to the table behind us. Wow, what the...? What's wrong with her training is she just simply ignoring us or there's racial discrimination at this restaurant? I was beyond upset, at this time we waited more than 20-25 minutes and she didn't even acknowledge our existence? I got the water boy attention again and gestured why she didn't come to our table? Anyways, at the end finally another waitress came by, and we told her our frustration, she finally took our order but our brunch mood was completely ruined. I didn't even want to order anything or had any appetite eating at this restaurant, this type of customer service at any restaurant is not to be tolerated. If you can't get your waitress and waiter training done correctly don't bother going into customer service for restaurants. Came here with a large group for a birthday brunch and they were very accommodating, allowing us to bring a cake and storing it for us. Because we have a group larger than 12, we had to get their prix fixe brunch and it was pretty decent! Everything was pretty standard in terms of American brunch but the drinks were really fresh and refreshing. I wanted to try Fig Tree Venice since it was in a convenient location in the Venice/Santa Monica area. Not gonna lie, I got a little catfished seeing the pictures of this place online and then going in person. This restaurant is not as cute as I thought it would be. Outdoor seating can be a bit cramped depending on where you sit. Customer service left a lot to be desired. I ordered the Plantain and Coconut Pancakes ($19) which is pretty steep for a plate of pancakes with plantains. There was a lot of textures with each bite in the multi-grain pancakes which I wouldn't always say is a good thing. The plantains were cooked well, but it's one of those items where the more you eat it in one sitting, the more you get sick of it and want something to change it up with. Personally I would recommend this plate only if you are sharing with the table. What I also didn't like is how terrible their bathrooms are. I went in during breakfast hours and the bathrooms look like they haven't been cleaned in weeks. It was a mess and it was very dirty and dark. Personally I wouldn't return and everything feels very slow and not sanitary. Plus you don't really get your value for the money you pay for which I understand because of the location, but oof. read more

As we were walking on the Venice boardwalk and wanted to stop somewhere for brunch, we stumbled across Fig Tree. I've seen it on Yelp countless times, but had never gone. And I am happy we did. We didn't have reservations and it was a busy sunny Sunday. But the wait was only about 20 min for the two of us. The place is gorgeous - picture Tulum vibes. Our server was really great too. Both attentive and made excellent recommendations when we asked. We had an oat milk cappuccino, an oat milk chai latte, the multigrain pancakes with plantain (def get this!) and the chicken avocado melt with fries. Everything hit the spot! Last time I was here was about 3 yrs ago, it easily became one of my favorites, especially with the spicy margarita and salmon on avo toast. Somehow today was different, the atmosphere is still the same, with great music and plant decor. Service was also amazing. But the food has changed, the menu only has 1 Fig item. For it being called Fig Tree, I expected more fig items on the menu. Why do I remember my salmon avo toast from 3 years ago having a fig glaze? I don't know, today's avo toast with salmon was not that great. Listen, the vibe is cool along the quiet end of the boardwalk and the kitschy tables and chairs work for sure. The food - well - a little hit and miss with my visits here and the the service has always been a bit slow, with not enough servers and not enough attention to things like refilling your water. Our food was just ok - the spotlight is their awesome smoothies but they take forever to get to you. Come for people watching, some appetizers and a couple drinks but don't expect a hearty dinner and to note - many of their foods are super spicy. read more
