The executive chef needs to rethink their choices. We ordered calamari which came out resembling onion rings and all I could think of was the infamous storyline in 2025 of kitchenS serving pork sphincters as calamari rings. It was these 'onion rings' only, no bodies/tentacles. The dish hit the table with a plastic ramekin of cocktail sauce, no sweet chili. The food runner had no idea what we were talking about when we pointed that out but said "sure I'll bring you more sauce." Which made us feel like we were asking for something "extra". We ordered 2 poke bowls with tuna. The tuna was high quality, but the rest of the dish fell apart. First - who uses long grain rice in a poke bowl? It's sushi rice or nothing. It was a bizarre choice and the rice was undercooked to make it worse. Second - once again, it came out unseasoned and without any sauces whatsoever. Your menu states it has ponzu, chili oil, and bang bang sauce on it. When we asked our server for some sauces because it was absolutely bland, we were brought soy sauce and chimichurri sauce (!?!?!?) So your kitchen needs an overhaul on its dishes and your service staff desperately needs to be retrained on how your dishes are presented - they never should've hit the table like that. The ambience is nice but a bit gritty and weathered. The host and serving staff were pleasant and quickly took care of our requests, but they felt like they shouldn't have needed to be requests in the first place if the dishes had just been executed correctly. read more

All of their food is excellent!! the pineapple jam on that burger is serious. Their bartenders have 20+ years in the game and run the place like pros. The best restaurant on Venice Beach with tons of seating inside and out, literally right on the beach. and if you feel like surfing, they even have guest boards you can grab from inside the restaurant and take to the water. The owner and the management is wonderful and it's right by the beach so what more could you want except great food. And they have it. It's a summer touristy place but they have amazing jazz and even on a cold and windy night the place was so fun to be in because of the band. I recommend it for people in the neighborhood and it's great for tourists as well. read more

I went to this place a little after Happy Hour on Thursday. Thursday nights also features a live jazz band on the heated patio. There was also a rams game on at the bar, so this place had a little bit of everything. The drink I ordered was the old fashion with 14 year old scotch, there was a rep from Glendfiddch there and she was giving out free drinks. The food was good, the chips and guac was fine, their red salsa was good. The crispy rice was also very flavorful, the hosin sauce drizzle on the plate brought it all together. I looked at the specials and couldn't resist getting the in-n-out burger flat bread. Ok first of all, it does taste like in-n-out, I was shocked and surprised! For $17, I thought it was reasonable and tasty. I would like to come back for brunch when it's a little warmer but the heaters were perfect. The service was also good, the food came out fast once we were able to order. I think there was only 2 servers when we were there so it just took a little bit to track them down. We spent the day at the beach and this place is literally the first restaurant when you leave the Venice Beach pier parking lot so it was perfect for us. I love the outdoor seating and the patio seating is nice if it's a little too chilly in the evening. The food was delicious. We had the catch of the day which was Rockfish, the oysters, and a couple poke bowls. The fish was cooked perfectly and even the rice and bok choy were both flavorful. The poke bowls were delicious and had a great variety of vegetables with plenty of flavor. The best part of our visit was our waitress, Dominique. She was so patient with us answered all our questions. She was attentive and gave us some great suggestions. We will definitely be back. read more

Checked out their happy hour with a friend of mine. We had drinks and got the regular burger + the veggie burger. Both were not bad! The french fries helped, too. Super cute place on the beach. After a long walk we decided to stop and have a snack. All day happy hour... yes please. Our server Cayley was the best. Very nice and on it. Always there at the right time. She had a bunch of tables but was still there when we needed something. The little had a cheese burger and gave it 2 thumbs up. Being a fry connoisseur these were good. The wings were cooked well, but I wasn't a fan of the sauce. Too sweet for me. I definitely recommend the Marg. Cayley was our server and she was great! She helped us pick what to order in terms of both food and drinks, and all of her recommendations were amazing! The only issue I had was when my table ordered their food and all of us. got what we ordered at random times. Some of us got our food first and others had to wait an extra 10-20 minutes to also get their order. It kind of sucks because by the time some of us were done eating the others just barely got their food. The timing was very off, so it definitely ruined the experience a bit. Well also, our waitress disappeared for like 20 minutes, but that was fine since we were finishing our cocktails. The food was good. We had a tuna with crispy rice and the tostadas. Our waitress (idk her name, wore a tube top, winked a lot) convinced me to upgrade the liquor of my margarita (originally $15) to avoid a hangovers so I was expecting a couple bucks more but when the check came, she had charged me for a $20 tequila +3 dollars to make it a margarita so it was $23 (+$8 per drink) total. My husband got a beer and then he got an espresso martini and she asked if he wanted kettle one or Grey goose and by doing that charged him the cost of the liquor $20 plus an extra $4 to make it a martini (+$4 per drink). Our bill was $144!!! It's a shame because we enjoyed the food and we're planning to go back but now we will never return. read more

It recently opened about six months ago and they do a great job of Social Media marketing with campaigns on Tik Tok tht are unusual and funny! An old friend and her husband were in town and I thought Nalu was an appropriate venue since they were staying at a beachfront Venice hotel. Our server was Sierra who did a great job despite being windy in out outdoor booth. My guests had the Breakfast Burrito ($17), a house salad (($10), and I had a Bacon & Eggs as did my guest, but she had Egg Whites ($17) and I had the eggs over easy plus toast ($4). Toast should be part of any eggs breakfast in my view. Nonetheless everyone was happy with their choices and I was happy with my selection too. With Tax, the bill came to 73.37 and a $12 cash Tip for excellent service! When at the beach, give Nalu Vida a try as they have an excellent staff of servers and the location is just great being in the center of things in Venice. RECOMMEND! read more

The liveliest restaurant we found in Venice - The host and servers had a very contagious positive attitude. Most menu items are priced at a $20 starting point so it can lean a little bit more on the expensive side if you're not careful. However, our food was super tasty and it did not disappoint! Despite having a lower staff on a Monday, they handled our full order in fast fashion, a soda spill from our kiddo which was literally all over the table and floor, without missing a beat. I still say the cones are a must have appetizer. The pressure dropper is the best cocktail- although no one has ever had a "bad" beverage here. Absolutely delicious margaritas for $10, plus we really enjoyed three of the happy hour offerings: bacon wrapped skewered plantains, which were four to an order; the chicken wings with accompany and coleslaw, which was a generous portion of about nine wings; and the mini tostadas topped with pork, also three to an order.
