I've walked and driven past Beach + Brew more times than I can count, and I'm so glad I finally stopped in for the Knicks game with some friends last night. First off, this place is WAY bigger than it looks from the outside. If you're a beer lover, you'll be obsessed with the self-pour concept. They give you a wristband that you scan at the taps, pour as much or as little as you want, and it automatically tracks everything on your tab. Super easy and honestly pretty fun. I was also shocked by their happy hour, which runs until 7 PM. On the Westside, that feels almost unheard of these days. I heard they used to have a larger sushi menu, but even so, the carpaccio and sashimi were legitimately 10/10. And I'm saying that as someone who's extremely picky about sushi--like omakase-level picky. I was genuinely impressed. Food-wise, everything we ordered was GASSSS. The carnitas nachos, fried chicken, spicy miso ramen, and wings all hit. No notes. The host, Ka, was incredibly sweet and welcoming. One thing I'd recommend: if it's game night, order your food a little early. The place was absolutely packed for the Knicks game, so food took a bit longer to come out, but it was worth the wait. This is definitely going into my regular rotation. Great for catching games, grabbing drinks with girlfriends, meeting up with friends, bringing a date, or even flying solo. Our Italian uncles, kids, hubby and I came for dinner and drinks. Celebrated getting keys to a new Alfa Romeo. My little pasta loving boy's pasta took so long to come out, all of us had finished eating. Despite asking where the little guy's food was a couple of times, there was no apology given when the food was finally delivered. If this was the world's most authentic bowl of noodles -- like the delay was making fresh pasta or something -- he would have been thrilled and gobbled it down. But this was the hottest and most overcooked gruel. You can see in the picture the congealed situation. My pasta loving boy didn't want it. He was starving and didn't eat it. Not tasty. My friend and I ended up here after visiting Charcoal one night. We weren't happy with the dessert selection so decided to go elsewhere, hence ending up and Beach and Brew. The dessert selection at Beach and Brew was definitely smaller lol. We went on a Friday night and were surprised how dead it was. It was however during the holidays... We ordered their bread with butter. We also tried a chocolate cake. Both items were just mediocre. We had fun pouring ourselves little glasses of beer. We had a dinner with our adult daughter. We ordered the toast, tuna for appetizers. We ordered hamburger, tempura tacos, and the fish and chips. The bread for the toast was super fresh however the butter is served cold. Wish that would have been served soft enough to spread. The toast was hot. Tuna was good. Tempura tacos were good but street tacos small. The fish and chips were a substantial size and was very tasty and fresh. My husband's hamburger was ordered with spicy mayo. He said it was ok. The biggest complaint is the host sat a party with three adults and four children (under the age of 5) and a dog directly behind us in the center of the restaurant. The kids were out of control loud and hitting the back of the booth while we tried to finish our dinner. What sense did it make to have a dinner with these kids sitting directly behind us. Like my desire to discover this place sooner, my review is also a bit delayed. But hey...better late than never, right? I dined at Beach & Brew with friends and family after the Bills vs. Rams game in Los Angeles about two months ago. It was recommended by someone in our group who lived nearby with her boyfriend. Beach & Brew operates with a wristband system for self-serve beer and wine, but they also have a solid food menu. The wristband setup felt a little unusual, and to be honest, the ordering process was a bit confusing. We had to provide a credit card upfront, and with such a large group, things got tricky when sorting out the orders. Fortunately, our server Jin Y. was incredibly patient and accommodating, doing her best to manage our lively (and already somewhat intoxicated) crowd. At the recommendation of one of my dining companions, I ordered the cheddar biscuits and I'm so glad I did! They were fantastic. I also got the spicy tuna roll, which was a decent portion and hit the spot. My friend had the burger and seemed pleased with it and the rest of our table ordered a mix of dishes, all of which were well received. Despite the initial confusion with the ordering process, everyone agreed that the food was worth it. If I remember, I'll definitely be back. The food was great, and as much as I enjoyed the tuna roll, I'm looking forward to trying more from the menu next time! read more

If you're coming to Venice for happy hour, that has a spacious seating area and open window seating as well if you want to be away from the crowd and enjoy your friends/family or date, this is your spot! My fiancé and I went here for the first time and we will definitely be coming back! The appetizers and happy hour bites are packed with flavor, and we will definitely be back for some of the bigger dishes as well. The drinks were also great and the menu caters to everyone from beer and wine drinkers to people who want a mixed drink. I also do appreciate being able to pour your own drinks on tap for beer, wine and some seltzers! Gong also deserves a huge shoutout because his service was so quick, and very helpful when we asked questions. My friends and I stopped by on a Saturday night, and the restaurant was surprisingly empty at 7pm, so we were able to grab a seat quickly. The menu of the place was not what I expected, it seems like the chef tried to do a bit of everything which is a bit overwhelming and confusing. My party decided to stick to bar food and shared a few items on that. The best dish we ordered probably was calamari fries, super meaty and flavorful, the fish tacos were unfortunately not so great, and rest of the dishes were just ok. I had higher expectation of this restaurant so it's a bummer. Overall it's more like a 3.5 star visit. read more

Came here for the first time and probably the last time due to an issue with other patrons. The table behind us was roughly 4 females and 4 males and a frenchie. The dog was well mannered. Unfortunately the dogs parents didn't think to take the dog out to handle its business so after sitting through an entire Laker game the dog took a dump right where we were all sitting. The stench that followed was disgusting. Now let me preface that I'm a dog mom and love to take my dog out to places. But I also take him out hourly to handle his business. The owners of the dogs didn't apologize and the restaurant didn't either after we said something. At first you walk in and you think it might be a sports bar, with the basketball game on the projector and large TV's. I wasn't interested in the game, but was intrigued by the beer wall. You get a wristband and get to try as many beers and wines as you'd like, paying by the ounce (fair pricing). Next we ordered food and I have NEVER had such a yummy jalapeño popper - it was filled with spicy tuna with the cream cheese filling. Came here on Thursday night for date night, specifically for the experience of pouring our own beers and it was so much fun! They give you an armband to wear, and then you can sample/drink to your heart's content. It was a really fun experience and we enjoyed having so many options to try! I'd 100% get the chips and guac again, but the portions for the wings was just a smidge smaller than we would've ideally liked. A definite opposite of what this place used to be.. a pretty old Japanese restaurant with oddly no windows! It has been awhile since I've been to Beach + Brew, formerly Kifune, one of the great local Venice sushi restaurants. Located at 405 Washington Blvd., they have built a sizable following and offer live music on the weekends. They have expanded their menu and tonight I had an Iced Tea ($4), the Tomato Bisque Soup ($13), and three hearty offerings of Sushi, staring with a California Roll ($12), the Spicy Tuna Roll ($12) and the Venice Roll $24). All were fine. My server was Chayaphon who was courteous and respectful. I am a Venice local and received my 10% discount or $6.50 and the total bill was $64.08 and I probably ordered too much food. I left a tIp of 18% or $11.70 for good service. I don't like asking for a credit card upfront and it forces one to make a decision if they prefer to pay cash. I wish this practice be discontinued. Beach + Brew is very dog friendly, and I truly question why patrons need to bring a pet to a restaurant as it could interfere in service and bother other patrons. I just don't see the rationale especially when servers have to navigate past the pet with food orders. The place is quite clean and was fairly full for a Sunday afternoon, and the crowd trends under 30. Loved the vibes here! The food was great and the self serve bar is so fun. You get a bracelet which you scan at the tap. You're charged by the ounce depending on how much you pour, so it's easy to sample all of the varieties. My favorite was the Framboise wine which was super fruity and tasted like juice. I wish they asked us before they closed our tab and brought our check out, since we were still planning to drink more. Other than that, I didn't have any issues with this place. I ordered the tempura fish tacos which are listed under bar food. However, these definitely filled me up since they come with a total of three tacos. The spicy mayo wasn't too spicy on the tacos, but I don't like my food too spicy so it was a perfect addition of flavor for me. All the workers were kind to us and cleared extra glasses from our tables quickly. I would definitely come back here. Cute place to grab a beer...or cocktail. They have a full bar plus a huge selection of beers on draft. I love the concept of being able to pour your own beers & pay by the ounce. The bracelet they provide gives you the ability to scan/pour. At the end you just give them the bracelet and they'll bring your check. Most of the beers are from local breweries which i always try to support them. They have a food menu which actually looks delicious but we just dropped in for a quick drink. One more thing to add, they have a few tv screens & one big projection wall which was playing the football game when I was there. Overall fun experience but the drink pours can add up quickly especially if you're trying a little here & there. ABSOLUTELY TRASH. Before I begin this review the food is absolutely amazing 10/10 but the experience an absolute 1/10. The server I just sat down with yelled at me about a tip before I could even reach for my wallet. Quite literally yelled at me because of the amount not knowing I was gonna be leaving him a MUCH larger tip in cash than on my card had he not YELLED AT ME. I was so uncomfortable that I barely could speak. Not to mention the little service he did give. Yes he brought water and yes he put the order in whenever we placed it. That's it. Another staff member provided drink refills and never once did him as our server even do that. I am disgusted and I don't think I'd go there if the whole menu was free. Just to put a name on here his name is Gaetano D. He works at the bar and is also a waiter but barely comes to the table. Hopefully he is doing more work at the bar. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING ATTITUDE AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I HAD AN EXPERIENCE THIS BAD. I personally was a server for 5 1/2 years so I know how tipping goes and I'm a very good tipper. The only tip I can give is to have better customer service. The menu is a little all over the place, though they have a bunch of Asian inspired dishes. I ordered miso soup, Asian soy glazed wings and edamame. Sent the soup back. Wings and edamame were bland. What a cool local bar and restaurant, a recent trip to the area. Looking for a place to chill, relax and grab a bite to eat. After day of being on the beach, while walking up the main drag we came across Beach & Brew. The windows wide open and reggae playing over the sound system - we decided to stroll in and see. A hip vibe place with a stellar beer and tap selection, nice full bar libation options and some decent bar food. We sat at the bar, it was a great choice. Our bartender, Taylor, was also our server. After looking over the drink menu I went for the "Beer by the Ounce" self serve option - get a beer tap bracelet, you have dozens of options on the tap wall. Select your glass size and brew, tap the bracelet on the bar and fill your pour, as much or as little as you like. A variety of glass (2-4 oz) from small sampler size to a full pint pour if you choose. I tried 2-3 different brews each was good by definition. Now the food, we started with the chicken wings and calamari fries, the wings were good and nicely seasoned a decent start and the calamari was thick cut chunks, again a decent appetizer. We were on the ocean so seafood seemed logical as well. The jumbo shrimp cocktail was very good - fresh and tasty, large succulent prawns with lemon and a house sauce. Lastly, the Margherita flatbread, a thin bread with red sauce, mozzarella and fresh basil. It was tasty and pretty good and filled the spot. We ordered tempura fish tacos, organic baby kale/salad and the fried chicken sandwich. 4 stars fish tacos and salad 1 star fried chicken sandwich 5 stars for James our server & the manager 1 star for the chef and his unprofessionalism My husband sent the fried chicken back, because after he tasted it, it seemed it needed to be cooked more. Ten minutes later, the chef comes into the dining room to talk to James regarding his request and we heard the chef complaining about having to re-cook it (within earshot). Seriously??? Keep it in the kitchen...We quickly lost our appetite, told James the chef was unprofessional and preferred not to eat it anymore. James talked to the manager and he comped the fried chicken sandwich. We left the new fried chicken sandwich/fries on the table and left. We only stopped in for drinks so cannot comment on the food yet, but we were intrigued enough to want to return for dinner in the near future. Dude. I don't even know where to begin. It was 8:15 on a Saturday with (yes I counted) 3 spots open at the bar. I live across the street and come here maybe once a week for a night cap or dinner. My friend wants one last drink so we walked into beach and brew because again it wasn't very busy for a Saturday night. We sat at the bar, she ordered a martini and I asked if I could have a cup of tea. He said we don't have that. First of all yes they do I come here all the time. I just said ok I'm good thanks, and he made my friends drink. He looks at me says "ok love you have to order something to sit here." He had open seats, this is a restaurant not a dive bar, it was early and not busy. I again said that's dumb, I'll take a tea. That wasn't pricey enough for him and he's said no. I said "you know I'm here like once a week right? I spend stupid money here all the time " He proceeds to tell me these are the rules of the bar. I said "that's not a rule. Again I'm here all the time, you're not slammed and I was a bartender for 15 years I know how this works." He says "you were never a bartender or you would know." This was the dumbest argument this dude could have started. I've bartended at every Venice/ Santa Monica/ Hollywood bar you can name but totally not the point and irrelevant, just funny. My friend was like um, I'm just having a quick drink, she can't sit with me while I drink this? His answer was No. For someone who talks a big game about being a bartender and he's calling it slammed when he had open seating plus a pretty light restaurant flow, this was laughable. The best part was when he looked at my friend and said you can pay for two drinks to pay for her seat. What a joke. She left her unsipped drink and we went across the street to the bar called Coco Beach and she got her martini there while I sat at the bar. Coco Beach has the best service, drinks are great and the bartenders will never charge you for sitting. The bartenders at Coco Beach can also handle a busy bar without flipping out. Now this is my kind of spot. It's a very cool vibe there and not your typical pretentious LA spot. Love the casual atmosphere. My friend and I were looking for a spot to chat and to catch up and we landed at the perfect place. We managed to hear the last couple of songs from the featured singer. She was really good! I had the espresso martini and my friend had the chocolate martini, which we both loved. All the drinks on the menu looked worth a try. Ditano was our server and was very friendly and attentive!
