Recently stopped in for lunch. They've got a pretty extensive menu and indoor/outdoor seating. We got 3 taco plates, chicken and shrimp/steak. The tacos were generously filled, flavors mild but good. The location is very cute but not good if you drove there as it's only paid for street parking. The drinks were decent but pricier than you would expect for what seems like a cheapy Mexican joint. The chips, salsa and guacamole were surprisingly good however none of them tasted spicy which was funny to us since one of them is labeled as hotter. Service was not great as they didn't often check on us, and it was windy enough that the outdoor umbrellas fell down onto me multiple times, luckily I caught it or it would've really hurt or fell on our table and there quite heavy. Also the all you can eat tacos come with rice n beans first time! (2 tacos) but after first round, only 1 Tacos per order, and no rice and beans. Also something you find out once it's already too late lol. And lastly, the alcohol was watered down significantly more in one drink than the other. HOWEVER, I came here one morning during their brunch hours and WOW my point of view has changed. They set the bar high for brunch places everywhere. From the customer service to the food. I was pleasantly surprise to see they had a breakfast menu that was INSANELY good!! They had breakfast burrito to chilaquiles!! I opted for the chilaquiles of course. The taste and presentation of the food was amazing I HAD to give my compliments to the chef. Besides the morning menu they do have lunch and dinner menu which I've had so many times, the bartender makes a great margarita and delicious mexican candy shots! Cabo's can get very loud. When it is packed and it gets very crowded on the weekends, it is very loud, from the music to the people. But go there anyway, it is fun and who cares if you can't hear yourself think. Parking is a bear, but there is a lot at the end of the street near the beach and you can park there for a fee. I think you have to be 21 to enter, which I find confusing because they have a menu of quite a lot of food. Maybe they just don't want to harsh the mellow of the people there, many getting drunk, but not bothersome. Everyone is nice and if not there is a bouncer to tell you to mind your manners or get out. He is large. The bar is cute, a decent size and clean. There is a bar area and places to sit. It is super fun and the drinks are great. They have a large selection of beer and their margaritas are strong and good. Don't even think of getting in your car if you are over the limit, not only is it a horrid thing to do, there are police, lots of police in this area just waiting to help you to a cell. The bartender will get you a cab or Uber is a call/text away. The location is great, walking distance to the beach and a great area to walk. Let me start off with saying I haven't been to Cantina for almost 7 years. It was a beautiful day and I was in the mood for carne asada fries. My friend who just moved nearby, said the best ones are here. I remember the food being good, but I definitely should start coming back here more often because it was great! Right when we came in, we were greeted by Isabel, she has a great smile and answered all of our questions. She was able to explain things easily, and escorted us to the outside dining area, since it was a beautiful day. It can get a little loud near the bar, but we were able to communicate our order fairly well before we sat outside I got the steak fries and I took some home because I it was a huge amount. To me, you can share this between 2-3 people unless you are really really hungry. The only thing that I wish was better was that I had melted cheese, it comes with queso cheese, which is good, but only if it's in addition to melted cheese. Next time I'll ask to substitute, more of a preference thing. Other than that the steak was super tender, the guacamole fresh, the Fresca was a great addition and the pico gave it a great bite. My friend got the nachos and let me tell you I will be back for these! It comes with a melted cheese and your regular loaded toppings. I loved how every bite I had included a little bit of every topping. Literally, and I love that these come with jalapeños. I don't remember jalapeños on my steak fries, but jalapeños are always a great addition. My friend got a JAM-o-Rita, which is a Jamison/margarita. They are not stingy on the alcohol here and they offer you a salt rim. The drink is worth the price trust me. The General Manager Josh is super into making the customer happy. He also greeted us when we came in with some waters. He has a personable attitude and asked us to tell us how we liked it there. I like that as he is clearly open to feedback in improving whatever he can to the already known establishment. That's huge! If you want to get beat up and have no security around you and no one come to your aid this is your party place. There is no management of the patrons, alcohol or what is happening. A girl was getting drinks thrown at her and my son stepped in to stop the incident and was punched in the head an knocked out, the place wouldnt even call the police. There is no accountability from this place, food, service, and horrible atmosphere. They need to be shut down! We were seated at a table and ordered a drink, but the waiter insisted on taking a credit card for the bar--even though we weren't at the bar and were about to order dinner. It was clear we were being racially profiled. To make matters worse, the drinks were awful--my margarita had no flavor and zero kick. The food wasn't any better: bland and forgettable. We ordered the cantina tacos and the pineapple paradise chicken wrap, the mazatlan margarita and some coronas, this place is right on Venice Beach! I would not recommend this place to anyone and the food is not that good. The shrimp tacos had a few shrimp with a lot of salsa. It's obvious they scrimped on the shrimp. Both were delicious and they brought us chips on the house. They treated the pups wonderfully and we were able to Apple Pay. I found a screen that seemed to be where you would order food. A employee or bartender (white, bald, blue Hawaiian shirt) rudely told me "Hey what are you doing!" "That's for employees only". I wouldn't have minded him telling me that at all if it had been said more nicely and not in such a rude tone. Thereafter we asked where we could order food, and another employee told us to sit down. After waiting for 30 minutes no one came to take our order so we just left. Safe to say we honestly dodged a bullet here. Went to pacific catch instead down the street, which had much better service and much better food judging by the other reviews.
