    Salt and Pepper Calamari
    Jennifer S.

Was not impressed with this place. Seems like a lot of regulars frequent this Playa Vista corner restaurant/bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Extremely loud and busy due to a few tables with adults letting their children run wild around the place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was good but almost too hover-y, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the single guy at the table behind us was so drunk he had to be cut off and kicked out of the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the fried calamari appetizer, which arrived in a huge plastic martini glass. It was ok but looked like way more seafood than it actually was due to the giant pile of fries underneath (and our sandwiches already came with copious amounts of french fries). I ordered a fried chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun that was so hard and stale I was unable to even bite into it, so had to disassemble the sandwich and eat the chicken separately. Boyfriend's burger was ok, nothing special. Not worth returning to.

In the area for a little weekend get away. My friends and I came here for dinner. We started off with drinks (not pictured) which were all good; wine, beer and a cocktail. For an appetizer we had garlic pretzel knots. They were delicious! Fresh chopped garlic on warm pretzel knots. The beer cheese paired very well with the flavor profile of the garlic! You can never go wrong with garlic. For my entree I had the Gulp Club Sandwich. It was good. It had grilled chicken, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and a Cajun aioli. I do wish there was a little bit more of the aioli as that kick was much desired. It came with fries or a salad. I opted for "Gulp Fries" which was regular fries and sweet potato fries. Fries were okay..needed a touch more seasoning. My friends ordered steak fajitas which smelled delicious! Generous portion (2 of them shared one dish) with all the fixins'. Service was great. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is nice was well. Seating inside and outside with numerous TV's to watch any sports games. Dog friendly also! Definitely a great spot!

We ordered the burrito of Del Rey with tater tots to go. The burrito is delicious with bacon, beans, and guac. Tater tots still held the crunchy texture when we got home (10 mins walk). Served with ketchup, green and red salsa. Yummy!

Dropped in for an early dinner with my son. They weren't busy and took care of us right away. They have a great beer selection and some fun cocktails if you're feel adventurous. I loved my grilled chicken club sandwich. Simple but well done. My son enjoyed the buffalo chicken sliders. And we. It's couldn't get enough of the batter dipped fries. They are really good! We were too full for dessert but I will say I was impressed with the creativity of their dessert jar options. I would definitely make a trip out just to give them a try! Great local gem in Playa Vista!

Gulp is a local neighborhood spot in Playa del Rey. It's in the heart of the neighborhood so it quiet and peaceful. No valet as there's street parking but because it's in the middle of a neighborhood it may be a challenge to find a spot. We never have a problem though. There's no wait. The service is always excellent. The food is good and the drinks are too. A good place to watch sports as they do have a full bar and tv's. Its located in a nice neighborhood across from a park. A nice local spot to hang out watch the game and have good and drinks

Two egg breakfast and extra crispy bacon--dont judge me, this is what I want. I want to break teeth on my bacon.

You know what you're getting into when you go to Gulp. It's solidly consistent bar food. I like their happy hour half portioned Chinese chicken salad, which is STILL huge. My main reason for coming here is brunch though. I just want a good, no frills, two egg breakfast. This place provides that. It's two eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, and choice of toast (with a tiny scoop of butter and prepackaged jam). Gulp delivers on this and I will be back.

What used to be a plate of high-quality calamari has turned into a pile of fried batter meant to hide the lack of filling.

In my previous life, I used to write sketch comedy for fun at the iOWest and Second City in…read moreHollywood, until that wet blanket of a pandemic closed both venues. UCB was also on my schedule to support my comedian friends on stage. Back then, I'd catch a comedy show multiple times a week - and I realized I really miss that part of me. Laughter is sunshine for the soul and it makes me happy to get my daily stress out with some giggles. *** COMEDY x SPORTS BAR *** To keep with the Yelp Elite's 2026 theme of doing more hobbies, I decided to tap into one of mine, which I almost totally forgot about. So when I heard about HOLLY STARR'S OPEN MIC night from one of the guests I met at The LA Breakfast Club last month, I thought I'd check it out. I was in the Culver City area on a random Tuesday and wanted to avoid LA traffic back to the Eastside. *** THE PUB STUFF *** Joxer Daly's is a great sports bar with lots of TVs, a decent-sized stage with seating area, and some fun games in the corner. Every Tuesday at 8pm, that stage is set for LA's comedians who want to try out new material in an intimate setting. There's a ONE DRINK MINIMUM, which isn't hard considering they have a slew of brews on tap, one cider, and a full bar with top shelf choices & well drink specials. There's also bar food to snack on. Since I was drinking Guinness, it also served as my dinner for the night. *** THE DEETS FOR COMEDIANS *** 7:45pm. SIGN UP. The FIRST 10 to sign up, get center stage and all eyeballs focused on them for a dedicated amount of time. What I liked about this crowd is that everyone was really cool and it felt like a community. Some of the comedians were friends, some were stopping by to just test their wit. Some jokes landed, some not so much. Either way, no hecklers in this crowd and everyone put on their big boy/girl pants to show their respect. All the support was genuine. And it was all very inclusive with a he, she, they in the bunch offering diverse POVs and different styles & punchlines. Other highlights: From what I heard, there's always at least one professional, touring comic at the mic. So you never know who may show up. (This is LA of course.) Also, no need to search endlessly for a spot or feed a meter while anxiously checking your watch because there's plenty of FREE STREET PARKING, which is a luxury on the Westside. And laughs are also complimentary. Perhaps one day, I may dare to step up to that mic, but I'll need to excavate my pent up mommy issues or let another decade or pandemic pass. For now, I'll hide behind my laptop and save the stage for the real comedians in LA trying to make it & make me laugh -- even if I am the butt of their jokes.

The fries were not what I ordered (I asked for sweet potato fries and got skinny fries) but I like all fries either way and the skinny fries were good. I ate it alllll. The pickles and lettuce came on the side with some carrot sticks and ranch. No complaints here. Service: The bartender is a nice lady but I think the only one working and so you must order at the bar. Our food was ready and we had to wait a little for it but not a huge deal. Ambiance is what you'd expect of a sports bar on any given weeknight. On the louder side, neighborhood bar with people who are clearly regulars, but chill. Lots of screens. On the more dimly lit side. No frills just good vibes and decent food.

I've visited this spot through several management changes, but I'm really rooting for P.V. House to stay. Everything from the flawless service to the menu is top-tier. If you miss those authentic New Orleans flavors as much as I do, the Voodoo Chicken Pasta is a must-try; it captures that NOLA spirit perfectly. I also highly recommend the White Lotus cocktail--it's surprisingly sweet for a whiskey drink and absolutely delicious. Playa Vista finally has the upscale sports lounge it deserves at P.V. House. The vibe is high-end yet comfortable, and the service is some of the best I've encountered. While it's surprisingly peaceful even on game nights, don't let the lack of a crowd fool you--the food is a grand slam. It's the perfect Playa Vista hidden gem for great food and catching the game!

Good and passionate crowd, but small space to accommodate need. Service is quite fast and courteous. Special drinks are offered especially during the World Cup. Tried quesadilla and nachos. Nachos were ok - obviously old and burned on the outskirts of the plate (apparently you can burn nachos!!) . Come here to watch the game and meet with your friends - that's what I'll do. It's clear they've put intentional effort into improving this week, as service was a highlight for us. Our waiter, Sunny, was so polite, quick, and communicative. He had a lot of tables to cover, as it was a packed and chaotic room during the Mexico vs. Ecuador game last night. The N17 burger and fries (both the regular shoe string fries and sweet potato fries) were fantastic! Both were cooked just right, very flavorful, and the fries were nice and crispy. The atmosphere and design of the restaurant in front isn't your typical "sports bar" - it feels more like a cute, sunny brunch restaurant with high-quality screens for sports viewing - but the clientele feels just like any other sports bar would :) It was very lively and fun to watch with others last night. For the World Cup, they've opened up their event space in the back which is not set up like a typical restaurant - but it was great for viewing! The screens are HUGE and very high-quality.

Listen, I understand being busy is one thing but blatantly ignoring paying customers that have been sitting and waiting to be served for 20-30 minutes after only ordering two drinks is strange to me. And then to come back and ask if we wanted to remove the items we already ordered without us having to bring it up just lets me know that you remembered all this time but chose not to serve us until someone had to go ask to be served AGAIN. Even other venues that are 5x bigger than this one have better customer service/attentiveness. We also ordered the bottomless mimosas and only got through 2 bottles because it took them 20 minutes to bring out the first one and another 15 to bring out the second one when it was asked for. And on top of that, they act like they're doing YOU a favor by bringing out the food & drinks that YOU paid for. I have never written a negative review before but this experience was awful; just a waste of money &, what should have been, a good time.
