I've been here a few times. The first time wasn't great. I had a pasta (cajun chicken, I think, which doesn't seem to be a listed menu item at this time). It was entirely too salty. The two next times I visited, things were decent. The last time I went was for the NFC Championship Game: Jan 25, 2026. I will never go back. We ordered wings and a burger. I was starving, so when the anorexic wings arrived (and the server walked away immediately), I ate a few wings, disregarding their sad appearance. I also ate half of the burger (which was fine). What wasn't fine... was the server's attitude and handling of the situation. I asked him if anyone had ever complained about the wings. His response: "No, people are usually pretty cool around here!" I guess I'm not 'cool,' which, ironically and interestingly, I am totally cool with! Of course, I didn't let it go, instead asking him to elaborate on his comment. He said, "what do you want? You want me to take them off the bill?" No... sorry. No... what can I do? No... wow those are skinny wings! I asked him if he was the owner (he had that kind of demeanor), and he said no. I asked if he was the manager, and he said no. I asked to speak with a manager, and he told me there wasn't one. His name is Tony. If I owned this place, I wouldn't keep him on the floor. I wouldn't even have him clean the toilets, though I think he believes he's entirely too important to be doing that job anyway. I'm sure he's right. We had tried PV House first, but there was no seating since it was such a big game. I recommend going there. Food isn't great, but the service always has been. My guess is that Gulp is frequented mostly by locals, which makes sense, but it won't last much longer with this crappy service. Our waiter, looked like he didn't want to work + was acting as if he's the restaurant owner. He didn't greet us, He gave us menus, without looking at me and my +1, & said find a seat. His verbal communication all around wasn't friendly, and gave us the "what do you want" type of vibe. Was not impressed with this place. Seems like a lot of regulars frequent this Playa Vista corner restaurant/bar. Extremely loud and busy due to a few tables with adults letting their children run wild around the place. Service was good but almost too hover-y, and the single guy at the table behind us was so drunk he had to be cut off and kicked out of the restaurant. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer, which arrived in a huge plastic martini glass. It was ok but looked like way more seafood than it actually was due to the giant pile of fries underneath (and our sandwiches already came with copious amounts of french fries). I ordered a fried chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun that was so hard and stale I was unable to even bite into it, so had to disassemble the sandwich and eat the chicken separately. In the area for a little weekend get away. My friends and I came here for dinner. We started off with drinks (not pictured) which were all good; wine, beer and a cocktail. For an appetizer we had garlic pretzel knots. They were delicious! Fresh chopped garlic on warm pretzel knots. The beer cheese paired very well with the flavor profile of the garlic! You can never go wrong with garlic. For my entree I had the Gulp Club Sandwich. It was good. It had grilled chicken, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and a Cajun aioli. I do wish there was a little bit more of the aioli as that kick was much desired. It came with fries or a salad. I opted for "Gulp Fries" which was regular fries and sweet potato fries. Fries were okay..needed a touch more seasoning. My friends ordered steak fajitas which smelled delicious! Generous portion (2 of them shared one dish) with all the fixins'. Service was great. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is nice was well. Seating inside and outside with numerous TV's to watch any sports games. Dog friendly also! Definitely a great spot! read more

Dropped in for an early dinner with my son. They weren't busy and took care of us right away. They have a great beer selection and some fun cocktails if you're feel adventurous. I loved my grilled chicken club sandwich. Simple but well done. My son enjoyed the buffalo chicken sliders. And we. It's couldn't get enough of the batter dipped fries. They are really good! We were too full for dessert but I will say I was impressed with the creativity of their dessert jar options. I would definitely make a trip out just to give them a try! Sat down. Server watched me as I scampered to get menus that had blown off my table. Ordered a Cobb salad. Had to ask for utensils. Was brought a napkin with only a knife inside. Waited another 15 minutes until the server had time to get the fork. No dressing on the salad. Was told I needed to order the dressing separately although the menu doesn't state this. Bacon on the salad was overcooked - inedible. The hard boiled egg tasted like vinegar - must have been off. Ordered a glass of Sauvignon blanc. The server did not know what region it was from. Gulp is a local neighborhood spot in Playa del Rey. It's in the heart of the neighborhood so it quiet and peaceful. No valet as there's street parking but because it's in the middle of a neighborhood it may be a challenge to find a spot. We never have a problem though. There's no wait. The service is always excellent. The food is good and the drinks are too. A good place to watch sports as they do have a full bar and tv's. Its located in a nice neighborhood across from a park. I recently revisited Gulp in Playa Vista during the day to see what their happy hour was and daily specials. Daily specials were posted to the right side of the door as a 5 day of the week menu. I was interested in the Tuesday taco Special inquired about how the fish was prepared. Well everything tasted wonderful. I was horrified to get hit with a bill that was $10 more than what I had anticipated with the waiter telling me that they don't honor those specials even though they are publicly posted and pointed out the very small statement at the bottom of the menu that said they could change the price at any time. I would not recommend going to this place unless you specifically confirm special prices. It feels to me like a bait and switch. I think it's the law that they have to honor the lowest posted price since it was publicly posted, but I didn't feel like arguing with the self-righteous waiter. I just won't be going back and I wanted to share this information with the community. read more

Cute place in Playa Vista hiding in the forests of LMU! I chose this place because of a friend who attends LMU, I wanted to go somewhere local to them. It was easy to find, and I got lucky with a front parking spot. We were helped by Sam, and she was nice and patient. Whenever we had questions, she always tried to get the best answer. We ordered $15 buffalo wings, and they did not taste very good. It tasted like they were baked, fried and reheated because they were dry and lacked flavor. $30 down the drain, thankfully, the ranch and buffalo sauce were very tasty! Like most everyone else, I am lazy and don't enjoy leaving negative reviews. But every so often I have such a terrible experience that compels me to warn others from the same fate. And I'll preface this review by saying I worked in the service industry for 8 years, from dishwasher to waiter to cook. I had a late lunch at Gulp with my girlfriend yesterday. There were a few people at the bar, and maybe a table outside - you would consider this place dead. Gulp delivered up the worst service I've experienced in recent memory which could explain its lack of customers. Upon entering, we were greeted by a cheery waitress who seemed incredibly friendly - this was not our waitress, but management needs to give her a damn raise! Unfortunately, our waitress seemed annoyed that we had the audacity to step foot in the door. It took nearly 10 minutes for her to set down her phone and stop flirting with a co-worker. She finally approached and, in response to my "hey, how's it going?", she just glared at me before dropping a roll of silverware onto the table without a word. She then disappeared in the back for 5 minutes. Remember how the place was dead? She wasn't grabbing an order or tending to another table. When she finally approached our table, she took my girlfriend's drink order and walked away without asking whether I'd also like something. When she returned, I asked for a Diet Coke and she responded curtly with a "Is that all you're having?". Actually no, we wanted food too - you just haven't tried to take our order. She then disappeared on another mysterious kitchen journey only to return by placing a warm can of Diet Coke next to a glass of ice, on the furthest possible corner of our table. About 30min after walking in, we had the privilege of ordering food. The food was terrible, and over-priced at that. Imagine if Dollar General dressed as Whole Foods for Halloween? Welcome to Gulp! I could go on and on about how the there were smashed mosquitoes smeared all over the bathroom mirror, and that our table was sticky. Bad food is subjective, but terrible service is not. We wanted the calamari that comes with fries, but asked if we could switch the fries to tater tots (we have done this before with no questions asked). She said she wasn't sure if they had tots, which obviously they have had for years, plus another table was seen with tots. So she goes to the kitchen (I assume) looked around the corner and gave us a thumbs up, then returned to the table to tell us there would be a $5 upcharge for the substitution! Are you freaking kidding me? We hesitated but then agreed after a single order of tater tots would be $7 and we really wanted the tots. Had to ask more than once for a previously ordered Coke and water for the table. Calimari and tots tasted a bit like old oil which we haven't really noticed ever before. I know the manager has left to work for PV House up on Runway. They seem to have a problem with staff, which isn't exactly new but worse than ever. We love the idea of a local pub, and want this place to work, but I don't see it happening unless some major changes are made. There is no reason why the food couldn't be really good, we have been to other pubs in LA that have had surprisingly excellent food. And please train the staff - plus maybe pay them enough to want to stay. They can't live just for the tips when the place is often empty and service is bad. The Gulp reeks of poor management and maybe just a financial write-off because they don't seem interested in improving. Very sad. read more

We had planned on grabbing lunch on the water, but one of those notorious "no reservation" chain places told us there was at least a two hour wait for a Sunday lunch, so we called Gulp as a back up and they said... "come on in!". So we did. It's situated in a nice mixed use planned community, directly across from a park and an absolute delight if you're a dog lover (I am!) as everyone here seems to have at least one. We were seated quickly and service was relatively fast. Although famous for their beers, I went with my tried and true Stella. Outdoor seating was relatively comfortable but it was so windy that the heat lights kept going out... so we ate very fast because it was becoming uncomfortable to sit outside for any period of time. We ordered the GARLIC PRETZEL KNOTS with cheddar cheese & stone ground mustard dipping sauce (9.95) and the SRIRACHA DEVILED EGGS sweet & spicy filling topped with maple bacon (10.95). We really didn't care for the garlic pretzel knots... they were a little large and sort of dry inside... maybe a filling would have helped. They just weren't very exciting. I PICKED this place based on the availability of deviled eggs, which I am an absolute sucker for. This version was fine and there are plenty for sharing. My SO had his standard fish and chips order. They were OK. If I lived in Playa, I may frequent this place - especially during happy hour and when I'm craving beer. The food didn't blow us away this time, but it's a charming neighborhood place in a charming dog filled neighborhood (bonus!) with relatively easy free parking. Lots of potential! read more

We had been wanting to check out this sports bar in our neighborhood for a while now so we stopped by during happy hour to watch part of the GSW game. We brought the puppy along and grabbed a table outside where they had TVs set up to watch the game. We decided to grab a couple bites off the happy hour menu and went with the garlic pretzel bites, sriracha deviled eggs, french fries, and their $6 HH beers. The french fries were well seasoned with the perfect crunch and the deviled eggs were delicious and we loved the tiny piece of bacon added to each bite. The garlic knots were light and fluffy and hit the spot with the cheese dip but beware of the other dip because it's very strongly wasabi flavored with a huge kick. Overall we loved the atmosphere and can't wait to come back to watch more games here and try their Gulp burger after jealously watching someone else eat theirs. read more

It pains me to leave this review because we frequent Golf a lot and the staff is always very nice. But for the third out of the last four pick up orders since we live close an order that we placed online using their own website and was not an error on my part was not completed correctly. And it always happens to be my wife's which means I get to torture for it lol It's nothing like major but enough to put a bad taste in your mouth Getting the wrong type of fries when you do a Berger and your partner specifically wants sweet potato and you don't give it to them. Paying $1.50 extra for cheese and you don't get it. I don't want to have to be that guy when I go to pick up the order having to open it right there in front of everyone because I have no confidence that an order that is very clear and isn't even big. It's only two entrées, has not been completed correctly. Especially on a night when the restaurant was pretty empty in the order was only two things. My favorite burger! They apparently grind the meat in house so I get mine medium rare with sweet potato fries. Can't say much about the other food because I keep ordering the burger. They are very dog friendly outside. Also a nice selection of beers and very friendly staff. This place is one of the reasons I have any cash on me-- 10% cash discount on Sat-Sun (per menu), also on Fridays (per waiter and personal experience).
