Visited some friends in Playa Del Rey and was a little hungry. So they took me here to Hacienda Playa and I loved it! It's a family owned restaurant established in 1973 and serves the best Mexican cuisine (in my opinion). This restaurant's ambiance has everything. The waitstaff is friends, fun and gives great service! A full bar, an old school arcade game and an aquarium! Big screen televisions for sport, news updates and more! When we were there they had a live jazz band performing. Other nights include karaoke, watching football and even dueling pianos! We ordered margaritas and albondiga (meatball) soup as appetizer! Then fajitas with your choice of corn or flour tortillas and an enchilada platter as the main course. They brought out chips and three different salsas. It was so delicious. Every time I am here the staff treats us well and the food is great! Cool local spot. We love walking over on the way to beach, for date night, or with friends to watch the dodger game and get some great margaritas! Gilberto and Isanci are awesome as well as the rest of the staff. I love this place, good live music at times, and the drinks are great, been going to the one off of Lincoln Blvd for years, but this one I've just been going to for a few years. Not once but twice, on a Sunday afternoon my food was not HOT, the plate was barely HOT, it's like it had been sitting there for a few minutes. It seems like there's only one server he may need some help. Or the kitchen staff needs to cook the food a little bit HOTTER at times. I'm not asking to burn my mouth, but at least let me enjoy my food where I am blowing the steam off of it because it's fresh made and not reheated with the microwave. People go there for the food and know how wonderful it is, please retrain your kitchen staff or servers. read more

I feel ripped off by this place. The menu said it was fajitas night with fajitas for $12. The server asked if we wanted our fajitas on a plate or a pan. We said pan and he never disclosed that serving them on a pan negated the special price, so we paid $23 to have them not put on a plate. This review is based on my experience tonight on the trivia night on St. Patty's Day. We wanted to support as it's a local place. The food is mediocre but we ate prior. I'm just baffled about how they had an opportunity to make a holiday night a fun, great, prosperous night but let it slip away. It was trivia night and the girl came and just sat there on her phone, head in hands like she was bored as if she wanted to get it over with. If you're an MC, you should be walking around the restaurant to all the tables that were there for the holiday, asking them to get their families to join in. Instead of leaving, they may have stayed and spent more money. I've been in hospitality 40+ years and thought to myself... this is the generation who wants to get paid but not really work. She was UNethusiastic and the guy sitting next to me said, she had a bad day at work. I've done multiple jobs in a day and I know that I have to turn on the personality no matter what I had going on otherwise. This is a small restaurant who missed thier mark on getting people to encourage others to come. I'm sad to say that I'm seeing this place try to get people with events and fun things that we all would love to try, but I don't think I'll be back again on a Tuesday night and I live less than a 1/4 mile from the place. read more

I can count on both hands the amount of times this location has gotten my order wrong. Whether it's in person, or through DoorDash which is their preferred ordering app, something is left out or incorrect in the order. I have tried to call them to ask for accommodations and they put their hands up like they can't do anything. Only once did the hostess "offer" to contact the number provided from DoorDash. But once it was obvious she couldn't connect to them, she didn't offer anything to substitute me not receiving my order. Stopped here for lunch on a Monday with my boyfriend and his mom. Immediately our server was kind and inviting and sure to let us know our dog could sit outside with us. He made jokes throughout the meal which we loved, an incredible and welcoming atmosphere. I believe his name was Elberto. The complimentary chips and salsa which came out before anything else. I particularly loved the red salsa but my boyfriend and his mom liked the green more. The chips were fresh and yummy. I ordered a fish burrito which wasn't on the menu. I was hoping for it to be Baja fried fish with all the normal fixings but it was grilled so didn't have the flavor I was expecting. The burrito however was pretty good. It was quality food but nothing crazy impressive. My boyfriend got the fajita burrito which he seemed to really enjoy. His mom for the combination plate with two hard tacos and an enchilada which she really liked. She noted that the crunchy taco was actually crunchy and wasn't oily. She also got their soup and loved it and would highly recommend! Overall a good meal and great service. I plan on coming back to try something new! read more

Went here for the first time this past Saturday. I live in the area and can't believe I haven't been here before. It reminds me of my favorite bars in the area like POW, the shack, and the 90 west lounge. The bar itself has a great layout, lots of different areas to hang out, so you can be private or social including a huge patio with heat lamps. The bartenders, Liz and Jessie, were on point. Never had to wait for a drink and they were super friendly. They had karaoke that night and it was so fun to see all different groups of people hanging out together. I didn't try their food, so I can't speak to that but they have plenty of parking. I think this would be a great place to have a bday party. Will definitely be returning. read more

At the end, they tried to overcharge me by $20. After fixing the bill, the server walked off quickly. And Ruben was a very sweet server. For a Saturday night it was a little quiet, though there seemed to be some regulars at the bar. They do have a full service bar. The chicken on the taco tasted like it was out of a can shredded like cat food.. Taco #2. I ordered a shredded beef taco, this taco was insanely horrible. We tried this place a few weekends ago. I hadn't been there in years but it used to be one of my favorite spots when I lived nearby. Not sure if my tastes have changed or the food went downhill but it definitely wasn't the gem I remembered it to be. We'll start with the michelada. I think they use clamato. It wasn't good. The guacamole was weirdly creamy (like the kind you buy in a pouch in the refrigerated section of a market), not like the kind you scoop directly from fresh avocados. Also not good. The server was really friendly, but didn't bring us any chips with the guac, so it sat there until a guy brought our main entrees out and we asked him to bring us chips. Our waters needed to be refilled... which didn't happen. The burritos were the best part, but they weren't anything special. I do like that they have a ground beef option (not just carne asada), but the red sauce was pretty bland. Maybe it was just a bad day for them. For nostalgic reasons, I do want to go back once more and see if it's any better. When I do, I'll update my review. Parking - plenty of street parking and there is a free lot. Patio - there's a covered patio along with an interior. Lots of space, and TVs too. The ambiance is fun. read more

I really want to give the Hacienda 3 1/2 stars. and the reason is I feel the tables and chairs and floors need to be a little cleaner than they are. As for the food it's just fine here. And they make the flour tortillas fresh every day. Definitely enjoy a regular margarita or a Cadillac margarita. The bartender does a nice job. The chips and salsa keep flowing. And the service is always top notch. Every waiter and waitress is extremely attentive to us. I like to come here because they took away some of their parking lot and made an outside patio. Even if it is cool out the heaters are on and it's nice to sit outside. After 5 PM you can park behind the restaurant. There is some office parking and they are closed by them. The setup was great, sound was awesome, and there was plenty of room to dance. They even put up canopies to provide lots of shade. They BBQd' food on site in the parking lot. They raffled off lots of prizes and I won! The Dwight Kennedy Band was amazing and had the crowd on their feet. It was a very fun event! read more
