TBH, you want a place that big, that many screens to have a sports package during football season. I understand that DIRECTV has jacked up business plan prices, so blame where it belongs and that's really the only negative thing I could say about the place. They do have Red Zone and whatever's on network TV, the food is t really good, with a Oaxacan theme that feels more special than 'just' Mexican food, great specials, good beer, nice mixed drinks, a welcoming staff and a large interior and wide open patio with plenty of space.
Definitely one of the better Mexican restaurants in the Playa/Westchester area. The food is consistently delicious, and their happy hour is one of the best around with great deals. The staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making every visit a great experience. Be sure to try one of their cocktails--they're expertly made and some of the best I've had in the area. Whether you're stopping by for happy hour or a full meal, this place is well worth a visit.
We stopped by Cinco Mexican restaurant with friends who live in the area before heading out on a long international flight from LAX, and it turned out to be a great choice. The service was good and food came to the table pretty fast especially for how busy they were inside with Happy Hour. The food was really good overall, but the salad especially stood out. The chicken was tender, the greens were fresh, and the dressing--though I don't remember exactly what it was...it was absolutely delicious!!! We also tried the carnitas tacos, which were packed with flavor and definitely a highlight of the meal. We don't live nearby, but this is definitely a spot we'll make a point to come back to whenever we're in the area again.
Great service, food and atmosphere under two roofs (if you count the covered patio a roof)! It's my local "go to" place when dad needs a margarita and or a perfectly prepared fish taco. Cinco offers a bustling vibrant atmosphere that can be a bit loud sometimes, but that's only due to everyone having a good time. No bad vibes in here! My top recommendations are: Fish tacos. I prefer them grilled. Enchiladas in mole negro. Perfect. Tacos de asada al carbon. Vegetarian options available too. Great selection of beers and cocktails are available and of course brought to your table by a friendly knowledgeable server. If you're in town and close by...do stop in...relax and let Cinco take care of your hunger and thirsty needs. Cheers! P.S. Recommended by our daughter, I was instantly captivated by how incredibly delicious the food was--every dish we tried was perfect. The friendly, attentive service made our experience even more enjoyable. With its lively sports-bar atmosphere, Cinco is a favorite among locals seeking authentic Mexican flavors that are both amazing and affordable. Definitely give Cinco a try--you won't be disappointed!
I've been to Cinco a few times now, all during lunchtime, and my experience has been fantastic. It's not usually crowded, and there's plenty of tables and booths as well as a large bar counter. Service is attentive and they check on patrons pretty frequently. What I really love about this place is that they offer Tlayuda, which is not commonly served at Mexican restaurants in So Cal. Tlayuda is a large, super thin, crispy tortilla topped with bean spread, meat, lettuce or cabbage, asiento and Oaxacan cheese. I've only had it in Mexico City with chapulines (grasshoppers) as a topping. That'd be cool if they served that option here too. :) Besides the Tlayuda, they have a decent selection of appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and taqueria items. Other dishes I've tried here and found delicious were the Oaxacan wings, Aguachile, Shrimp Tostada Salad, and Pork Shank in mole sauce. Portions are generous and everything I tried were cooked and seasoned just right. Seems they have a great happy hour and full bar I'd like to try! There's also a parking lot in the back.
Cinco is great. They have so many drink options and delicious food items to pick from. Last time I was here I had the torta. This time I opted for the aguachiles. They were perfectly spicy and the shrimp was cooked so it wasn't too chewy and had great texture. The house margarita was delicious and had a perfect amount of tequila. The ambiance was chill and the music selection is great. I love how authentic the place is. Attentive and friendly customer service.
Was in town on a Tuesday night and was craving some Taco. This place popped up as the most rated with good reviews so we picked it. Decorations geared towards a bar with minimum lighting. Food was okay and was really on the expensive side. Totaling almost $60 for 4 tacos. Tap water did have a taste. For the least, I managed to save myself from a hunger
Customer service great, wasn't really anyone in there when we were there(not a bad thing just an observation, maybe they were preparing for the dinner rush) Food was ok nothing to really brag about, looked better than it taste. May try again.
First visit and wow..Definitely returning. With the huge bar inside with plenty of seating inside and out, large parties are no problem. The food is made fresh to order with authentic flavors. If you haven't been here you have to make a stop and give them a try.
This is a fun little place. Probably a better bar than a restaurant; the food is very good but not great. The soft tacos were very decent but needed just a bit more spice I think. They're an excellent choice if you don't like spicy food. The chips and guacamole are also quite delicious but not stellar. One think that kinda stuck out was how good the water was. I realize that's a weird thing to comment on but it really was delicious water. Mexican music playing in the background. Two different sporting events playing on two TVs. Minimalist furniture. I will come here again and try some of the real food which I saw but wasn't able to eat. So, I don't drink anymore but if I did I would come here a lot.
We were staying nearby so my family and I decided to come in for dinner. It feels a lot like a neighborhood bar. Not all that busy but lots of groups of people chatting and having a good time. They do have large TVs for the games. We shared chips and guacamole and salsa which was delicious! My mom and aunt decided to try the mahi mahi tacos which they enjoyed. My sisters got chicken enchiladas while I got chicken tacos. The chicken wasn't dry!! Woohoo! My older sister tried the horchata which tasted like it was missing cinnamon while my mom and other sis shared Mexican coke. It's not a bad restaurant. I liked the vibe. It was kinda dark in there, so my aunt had to use her phone's flashlight to see the menu. LOL but the waiter did turn on the light right by our table which helped a bit. The staff was nice and food didn't take long. There's a small parking lot next to it but you can also find street parking.
Amazing! Had a Graduation Party for our daughter and her friends and their families. A total of 4 families with roughly 40 people. First booked through Dana and then organized and served by John and Caesar. We had chips salsas, salad, taquitos, grilled corn, 5 different types of tacos, churros and guacamole! It was such delicious feast with such wonderful service!! Everything we ate was super yummy! The tacos were full of meat! The meat was juicy and flavorful! The guacamole was creamy delicious! The salad, corn and taquitos were fabulous! So yummy! Service was so excellent and Johnny on the spot! We were never wanting for anything! Please look at the pictures and see the wonderful spread they prepared for us! The food was super duper delicious and so yummy! Words cannot describe how good it was! Everyone was pleased and happy with this wonderful restaurant! Hope to be back again soon! read more

Cinco has been an old favorite place of ours where we would eat with a dear friend and we wanted to come back to reminisce. Some of the food here is good and some of it is okay. You just have to know what to get. I got my old breakfast favorite, the breakfast burrito ($12) which comes with eggs, chorizo, potatos, refried pinto beans and cream. It is pretty good and the portion size is about right for the price. (With some of the other items here, you don't get enough versus what you pay. My sweetheart got her old favorite Chilaquiles en salsa verde ($18) which is corn tortillas lightly fried, salsa verde, eggs, crema, queso Fresca, pickled red onion, cilantro & black beans and she loved it as usual. I am giving Cinco 3 stars because they have significant items that are just average and other menu items that are very stingy for the price. But again, if you know what to get you can have a nice meal and not leave hungry and angry because you paid too much for food that wasn't great. read more

I have been coming to this place for brunch for years and it's about high time I wrote a review. I always get the same thing; huevos rancheros ($18) without the sauce on top, substitute pinto beans for black beans. This time tho, I discovered how yummy their tomatillo sauce was and put that on top. Winner!!! My boyfriend got the burrito with pastor ($16) and he enjoyed it but it was kind of small. Service can be a bit slow as there are not many ppl working. The prices are a bit high for other dishes on the menu when it's not brunch, they range for about $26 and the portions a bit small (not for huevos but for other things I've tried) like $24 for 2 fish tacos. Also, I wish they gave you free chips and salsa but they charge $6 for that and $16 for chips, salsa and guacamole. All in all, I love the huevos and this place also holds special memories for me and they have a lovely outdoor space now too. I also like that they have added backs on the booths for Covid as it is much more private than it used to be. read more
Delicious Mexican food served in a casual dining-hall atmosphere. Service is prompt and friendly. The menu has plenty of choices for vegetarians and pescatarians in addition to the usual meat options. The esquite is divine -- just the right combination of smoky sweetness from the roasted corn to ho with the tang of the chipotle mayo and the tamarind salsa. I love Cinco because it is so close to LMU where I work, but also because their variety of food, drinks and flavors are amazing! I have come here for work events, and gatherings with friends. I have come for happy hour and taco Tuesdays. Everything is delicious, the service is always super friendly, and the prices are reasonable. My favorite, besides, the mushroom on polenta, which I think was a seasonal thing, is the veggie burrito. It is huge and the salsa choices offer just the right amount of heat. This place also actually turned me onto gin drinks with their army navy cocktail. But the last time I went, I sipped on their seasonal Blitzen cocktail which tasted amazing, and felt so elegant! read more

Stopped by for early dinner with my family and were very impressed with the food and drinks offered. The happy hour prices for the drinks weren't much of a discount but the Paloma was so good I had to order a second one. We also tried classic margarita and found it to be pretty run of the mill. The mahi fish tacos were amazing, the slaw on top needed a touch more lime but otherwise they were very good. My brother tried the pork rib dish and said it was the best Amarillo mole he'd ever had. Very complex sweet sauce. The pork was melt in your mouth tender too! We also tried the chips and guac as well as the nachos. Both were very good. Chips were especially good as they were made fresh in house and were thick. As good as the food was it was the Paloma is really what sold this meal for me. read more

Great spot with a relaxed vibe and a nice, dog-friendly outdoor area. Generous happy hour till 7 PM most days (except Sunday) -- the margarita was excellent. Good parking options too, with a free lot and some free street parking. Tacos weren't my favorite -- the shell tasted a bit stale -- but overall a good place for drinks and hanging out. Stopped in for a late night meal around 9:40 and had a fantastic dinner and margarita! Servers were attentive, food came out very quickly and it was delicious. The Tlayuda was so big, the 2 of us couldn't finish it in one sitting. Only thing I would change is putting more tomatoes on top, preferably diced or better yet, full pico de gallo, because every bite was very heavy with meat and it needed to be lightened up. Honestly shredded lettuce would have done the trick too. The ambiance was really good as well, with modern Mexican music blasting in the background. The booths were cozy and I loved the giant lightbulbs that emitted the same yellow glow as the candles on the table. read more

Ok I rate this a dive bar. It's VERY minimalist (sorta dreary). It was a cold day and very cold inside. There are two entry doors, one on each wall perpendicular to each other, so people kept coming in and the freezing air blew right over the table. I left without trying the food and talked my group into going elsewhere. read more

Cinco is a cool Mexican sports bar near LMU and it has a nice vibe. I liked that they offer tamales, and though they were good, but I was hoping for more out of the Paco's Punch & the horchata. They were average at best. Brought my mom and the little one to cheer on the Braves from the west coast and though a disappointing outcome, I will say, it was pretty vibrant for a Tuesday night. Moms had tacos and the little one had a cheese quesadilla. Again, though good, I would not compare this to your abuela's. The esquite had a nice kick and was a good appetizer. Definitely come if you want to watch a sporting event & have a drink but I wouldn't make this a place to have a nice dinner or lunch. read more

Quick and easy lunch spot. Esquites were really good, an elevated version of the kind you'd get from an elotero. Shredded beef and al pastor tacos also needed a lime wedge but the salsa was smoky and flavorful. They're hearty tacos with a generous portion of meat. Service is friendly and attentive. read more
