At the time of this review, Great White in MB has only been open for about a week. We came in on probably their second ever Sunday brunch. The wait wasn't that long for two, which was nice. There were people trying to cut the line, and almost got away with it a couple times too, so I think figuring out the line situation would be a smart path moving forward. As for the service, it was fine, but I can tell that the servers don't really look out for each other yet. The chemistry of the staff wasn't really there yet. The food was good, but came out at the same exact time as our drinks, which was a bummer. I normally like to have at least 2 cups of black coffee before I have breakfast, but the coffee hit the table, probably five seconds before the food. And there was also no silverware for our food, so we just had to sit there and watch our eggs die for a couple of minutes before they finally brought the silverware out. I think this place has great potential, it's in a great location, and the eggs are great. They just need to work out those kinks still. Get some more silverware, have more fresh coffee ready at all times, don't forget the two minute two bite rule for the servers, and maybe overstaff on days where you expect business to be booming, like on a Sunday Brunch. We'll give Great White another chance probably in about a month or two when they figured more things out. read more

nope. this is not it. i had such high hopes for great white bc i heard great reviews from their locations. wanted to come during their grand opening wknd, but they did not open up for any reservations, only walk ins. i booked for a reservation for tues. patio. as we asked ahead of time if they were dog friendly. i mean its MB, esp dtmb. mostly everything is dog friendly. the seating inside looks more relaxed and comfy. the patio!!! the seating is so packed , like if you arent SKINNY, its a but hard to navigate around. service was horrible. we waited about 20-25m to even get acknowledged. bc of that, we decided to skip on drinks and apps. oh and btw, the food came within minutes!! our orders felt like they were sitting under a food lamp. we asked for water, it didnt come back til we were ready to go. as my s/o was finishing his bite of pasta, the waiter's assistant came and asked if he can take the plates away!?!!? are you joking, can you not see that he still was eating?? nope nope and nope. i wanted to leave asap. as soon as the waiter came back , asked for a box and the check. i wanted to give my feedback to the MOD, which i think was brianna, she also seemed brand new to being a manager. they all need to work the service and logistics out bc this restaurant is gorgeous and has the potential. also, dog friendly ATM, but prolly will change to a no soon, per MOD. read more

I stopped by Great White Manhattan Beach hoping to get a table, and unfortunately the experience at the front desk was enough to make me leave before even having the chance to dine. The girl working the host stand was incredibly snooty and dismissive. She told me the waitlist was closed and that I probably wouldn't get a table anyway. I understand restaurants get busy, but there's absolutely a way to communicate that without making someone feel like they're inconveniencing you by walking in. A simple "We're currently at capacity, but you're welcome to check back later" would have been perfectly fine. Instead, the attitude was basically, don't bother. If this is the first impression you're giving guests, it's not a great one. I'll spend my money somewhere that actually seems happy to have customers. read more

One of the most beautiful, aesthetic, and lovely places to have breakfast or lunch. The seating was so comfortable, near the beach, next to tons of parking, and easy access. The service was exceptional. The staff were so kind, attentive and professional. The food and beverages were ok. The breakfast burrito had great taste--a little on the mushy side for me, and the cappuccino tasted a bit burnt and was lukewarm to almost cold. I know this is probably really random, but their water is Devine! You can tell they have a fancy water machine and it honestly was the best part of the food/beverage experience for me, aside from the awesome atmosphere. What a wonderful experience! As we were approaching, the first thing I noticed was how beautiful and aesthetically pleasing this place is. As we got closer, we could see that it was busy. It was around 10:30am. My husband insisted that we check it out and see if we could be seated. Thankfully there was seating available. Our server (Gerardo) was very pleasant and helpful. Beautiful atmosphere, decor and food presentation. Service took a little longer but it was Sunday during breakfast/ brunch time so to be expected. The breakfast burrito was pretty good and my family loved the hot cakes (super thick pancakes). The chai latte was not to my liking but I'm sure others would still like it. Be prepared for Manhattan beach prices for everything. We will definitely come again and I'm interested in trying their pizzas. read more

I was excited to see the pre-opening one day walking by when they were basically set up and doing some press photography, it was so open and airy, and fresh that I couldn't wait to eat there! My friend and I walked by this weekend and it wasn't overly crowded so we decided to stop and have lunch! They seated us at a nice table for 2 outside, and a very smiling waiter came over and very politely asked us if we wanted water and we said yes! That was the last we saw of him, as we sat there for 15-20 minutes! I finally decided to go to the restroom, as I needed to, and stopped at the front desk and asked if someone could help us. One of the girls was very friendly and immediately said I'll come over and take your order. The food came and it was a nice mix of share plates, and we enjoyed our lunch. Our "waiter" showed up with the bill after never seeing him, even to ask us how our meal was? Then when my guest went to pay, the Toast would not take her credit card from China. It was terrible. She has no trouble with that credit card and she said try again and by the third time she said can I just pay cash and he said I have no change so she was a bit confused as she's not used to tipping so I reached over and said this is fine from the change she had and we left. Went for lunch with some friends, we had to wait 30 minutes for our drinks, when our food arrived they didn't bring any plates, we actually had to go up to the counter to ask for them, as no servers in sight, we didn't get our wine we ordered and when it came eventually we had to ask for wine glasses, the food was ok but the service definitely needs some work I am hoping that it was just because they just opened but management definitely needs to work on training their staff. Horrible service! We waited for 1 hr while we were told the wait time is only 30 minutes. After we sat the lady at the front asked my 5 year old if he wanted some crayons and he said yes. Well the crayons never came and my son was asking for them the whole time! Then after 15 minutes someone finally showed up to get our order , we ordered a breakfast burrito and a chicken sandwich and an order of fries. The fries were $8! After another almost 30 minutes our food finally came! The tiniest breakfast burrito I've ever seen. We finished our food and no one showed up to ask if we wanted anything else or we needed the check. My husband and son left because my son could no longer wait. I sat there for another 15 minutes until I asked a server to please give me my check. He did , he was not our server though.... The total came to $100!! Never going back! read more

Food was good except my wife and daughter ordered Arnold palmers for their beverage. They were served in a 10 oz highball glass obviously combined with a crap load of ice. Needless to say they asked for a refill which instead came in a new glass. At the end of the evening we got the check and the fricking Arnold palmers were $8 each. $32 for 4 drinks with appx 6oz of actual tea. It was a very expensive dinner with 3 individual pizzas and a shrimp pasta.and ceviche appetizer for my daughter's birthday and the check was just south of $200 before tip. I reduced their requested 20% min an left 25$ which still made me feel violated. At the very least the waiters should inform the patron that refills are not included and actually have the price of table drinks on the menu. We had reservations, and we're sat in a cramp table. We asked for a table change. They offered to accommodate only if we left within the hour, as others had reservations. They disregarded our reservations. They were so rude! The server was aggressive to us to ensure we left within the appointed time. FYI, when we left, at 7pm,the restaurant was half empty! We've been wanting to try this place since it opened a few weeks ago and tonight was the night. First problem, we made a reservation that apparently never went through; now hoping the $25/head fee for being a no-show doesn't go through either. In general, I avoid restaurants that attach this charge, but we went ahead anyway. The restaurant is very loud, the tables for two are very small and much too close to each other. There were flies all over. The chicken in my panini sandwich could have covered most of the bread but it was assembled in a way that left a lot of bread not covered by chicken. My husband's sole was lukewarm; the waiter asked how the meal was and he indicated the fish was not warm enough so the waiter offered to bring another plate. The second serving was also not very warm. He gave up and picked at it. I was a little annoyed that they could not make a Cosmopolitan, but I could have gotten over that if the food had been better. All in all, the worst $100 meal we've ever had. Which is too bad because it is a lovely space and obviously a lot of $$$$$ were spent to reconfigure after PitFire went out (PitFire was better because we could take the grands there.).
