We have been coming to this place since it opened. See my 2011 review! We have been a little tighter with our budget over the last 5 years and have only been here a few times since 2020. It used to be my favorite restaurant in the world for several reasons: casual with a LOCAL vibe, new and exciting menu every time we came in, delicious food experiences as they were making such amazing dishes. With the remodel, all ties to its past (the post office) have been removed. Now it is just a fancy Marie Calendars with no personality. For the first time ever, last night for Father's Day, I didn't see a single main dish item that interested me. We had all appetizers and salads. For some reason even the bacon biscuits underwhelmed. The flavor just wasn't as savory as I remember. The tomato salad had very sad tomatoes. The risotto lobster dish did not seem to have any risotto in it; it was all corn. The Muscles were good and the green beans were good. I also like the shrimp on toast, as strange as that sounded. I enjoyed the strawberry dessert as well. Thankfully, Justin, our waiter, took great care of us and made up for any disappointment we were experiencing. The first thing I noticed about Manhattan Beach Post was the plants. Not because there were a few plants. Lots of restaurants have a few plants. These plants appeared to have union representation. They're everywhere. Hanging from things. Growing out of things. Quietly observing your meal. The whole place feels like someone built a really nice restaurant and then let nature move in as a long term tenant. The room hums. Not loudly. Not aggressively. Just enough. Glasses clink. People lean into conversations. Servers weave through the room carrying plates that look heavy enough to alter their center of gravity. Nobody seems rushed. Everybody seems busy. It's a difficult balance. The biscuits arrived first. Now, I'd heard about the biscuits. People talk about these biscuits the way fishermen talk about the one that got away. Slightly dramatic. A little emotional. Hard to verify. Turns out the stories were true. Warm bacon cheddar biscuits with maple butter. I took one bite and immediately understood why people order a second round. The outside has just enough structure to remind you it's baked. The inside is soft enough to make you wonder whether butter has secretly become a building material. We ordered another. Not because we needed another. Because apparently that's what happens here. The creamy polenta showed up next and felt like the culinary equivalent of a weighted blanket. Comforting. Smooth. Relaxed. The sort of dish that encourages you to slow down and stop checking your phone. The duck was one of my favorites. Lightly fried with crisp skin and tender meat, resting on white Italian beans and rosemary. It felt like something a French chef would cook after spending a weekend in the countryside and becoming briefly inspired by fresh air. At some point you stop evaluating food and simply nod in agreement with it. This was one of those moments. Dessert was equally dangerous. The olive oil cake arrived with strawberries and disappeared much faster than logic suggested it should. The cheesecake somehow managed to be rich and light at the same time, which feels like it should violate a law of physics somewhere. Service deserves its own mention. The whole team operates like a group project where everyone actually did their part. Plates appeared when they should. Water glasses mysteriously refilled themselves. Questions were answered without anyone making you feel like you should already know the answer. The chef's French influence shows up everywhere, but not in a showy way. Nothing feels complicated for the sake of being complicated. Everything feels like somebody spent a lot of time thinking about it so you wouldn't have to. By the end of the meal, I realized Manhattan Beach Post had done something difficult. It felt special without feeling serious. You can dress up. You can come casually. You can celebrate something important or absolutely nothing at all. Just order the biscuits. The plants already know you're going to. read more

We had the mussels to start and they were very fresh and flavorful. Pro tip.... Let the crostinis fall down into the broth to soak up all of the flavor! Came here with my boyfriend after a 16 mile run from Pacific Palisades to Manhattan Beach and honestly it was the perfect place to land. Got there right before the dinner rush without reservations and were seated immediately. Always appreciate that. Justin took care of us and was such a gem. Warm, attentive, just very thoughtful and kind the whole night. He even surprised us with the Elvis dessert at the end, which was really sweet. The space is beautiful. Dim lighting. Glowy inside. Lively but not too loud. Very Manhattan Beach. We got the bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits, roasted Alaskan halibut, and grilled skirt steak. The biscuits were unreal. The halibut felt light but still rich in the best way. The skirt steak had a great char and was exactly what I wanted after that long of a run. Just a really lovely dinner after a long run. Some dishes could've been executed better. Going down the list of dishes I had here: - Bacon Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits: These were more like scones rather than biscuits. Crunchy with good bacon and cheddar flavor. - Japanese Hamachi Crudo: Unique and I liked the citrusy flavor and creamy texture. However, 3 small slices of fish for $26 was overpriced. - Leafy Greens & Radicchio: Solid and crispy salad with a nice tangy dressing. The cheese also added a lot of sharp flavor which was nice. - Skirt Steak: Good flavor and char, but a bit tough. Also some dry pieces. - Chilean Sea Bass: Lemon orzo risotto was creamy and delicious. The sea bass itself was okay, nothing special. It felt overpowered by the risotto. The fish was moist and flaky though. - 20 Oz Prime Beef Ribeye: Quality was subpar relative to price. Portion size was solid by the steak itself was inconsistent. Some of the pieces were rarer while others were more well-done even though we asked for medium rare. There were also some dry pieces which I did not like. Flavor was good though. - Strawberry and Olive Oil Cake: Was confused since there was just a thin layer of cake, but realized the title also referred to the mousse. I would title it 'Strawberry Mousse with Olive Oil Cake" to make it less confusing. Regardless, this was a delicious dessert! Love the fruity strawberry and savory pistachio flavors as well as the smooth textures. - S'mores sundae: Got this on the house for my aunt's birthday. A generous portion but the components were a bit too sweet for my liking. I visited this restaurant for a birthday that I organized and my experience was overall good. Reservation was made easy using OpenTable and I could also mention it was for a birthday occasion. The ambiance was gorgeous with good mood lighting. Good for group and 1 on 1 dining. Came in for a quick drink and would be interested to try the food. We came after brunch on a Sunday and so only got drinks and their Blueberry Coffee Cake (which was so yummy and had a delicious crumble on top). The MB Post Breakfast doesn't look like a big portion when the plate first comes out, but looks can be deceiving! I was totally full after dessert. The fruit was refreshing, and the bacon was so perfectly crunchy. The key lime éclairs were so delicious. I was genuinely sad that we had to split two bars between four people. The waiter was so nice and attentive, checking in often without feeling intrusive, and he had great menu recommendations that made the experience even better. Spent a weekend exploring Manhattan Beach and decided to have brunch in this restaurant which is located just across from the beach. It was a busy day for them but glad that we made a reservation ahead. The restaurant has multiple sections for either group or intimate seating. At the lobby, there's couches facing a fireplace. When you enter the main dining room, there's a bar and a lot of seating available. We decided to order the following: Lobster avocado toast $28 Eggs Benedict $23 Blood and smoke $13.50 I loved that the ingredients were fresh including the lobster. I love avocado with anything so when it's paired with fresh lobster, it's perfection. Eggs Benedict was also delicious and I loved that eggs were perfectly cooked. I had a fantastic dinner at MB Post! The food here never fails to impress. The Hamachi Crudo was incredibly fresh and flavorful--a perfect way to start the meal. I was most surprised by the Skirt Steak; it was so tender and juicy that I could hardly believe it was a skirt steak! It literally melted in my mouth. The Lobster Risotto was delicious, though it was a tad on the salty side for my taste, but still very rich and satisfying. However, the absolute highlight of the night was the Bacon Cheddar Biscuits. We struggled a bit figuring out the menu as our waiter said the dishes are shareable but it is such an eclectic menu. We ended up each selecting our own dish and frankly once we got the fishes it seemed to make more sense with the size of the portions. Everyone mentioned they enjoyed their dishes so that IS the goal! My pasta was really good and more than I could finish! I ended up ordering the traditional breakfast instead. Unfortunately, the potatoes tasted like they had been cooked earlier and reheated, and the bacon was overwhelmingly salty. We also tried the specialty bacon cheddar biscuits, which were a letdown--very dry and hard. We ordered two servings but left one untouched because they just weren't enjoyable. Overall, we'd rate this experience 4 stars largely because of the excellent service. And though it isn't necessary, I thought it would have been nice if our server checked our reservation and saw that I had put it twice that the occasion was for a birthday, and would have wished him a happy birthday. We were really looking forward to dining here, but the experience was disappointing from the start. We did our due diligence by checking Yelp and Google Reviews which all showcased this great outdoor dining area (photos and listed here on Yelp and other sites), and we even made an OpenTable reservation specifically requesting "outdoor dining" in the comments. Despite the request, no one called us to clarify their seating options. After navigating the very challenging parking in this area, we arrived only to be told by both hosts that they don't actually have any outdoor dining accommodations. We understand if policies or layouts change, but it would have been professional to receive a call letting us know beforehand. Fortunately, this led us to call The Strand House, where we were able to get a wonderful patio table. They were incredibly professional, and the food was both terrific and memorable. While we won't be returning to MB Post, we highly recommend heading over to The Strand instead. read more

We just had the Japanese Hamachi Crudo, which was fantastic. The Finn in it gives us amazing rush bite after you taste the Crudo. We also ate new to the menu the creole honey butter lays half chicken. Let me tell you the sauce on this chicken was fantastic. It's a white barbecue sauce. As far as the staff the manager Marquin is incredible. He's actually working behind the bar helping the bartenders to keep up on drink so they don't go out late. Our bartender Lucas was amazing super friendly, very engaging and made a delicious mock cocktail from scratch. if you're in the Manhattan Beach area I would definitely stay to stop by. Great for sharing and much more filling than it looks. I'd recommend everything we had, and then some. Yes, prices are a bit high, but in-line with expectations for the neighborhood and the quality. Service was efficient, courteous and very much appreciated. I will definitely be back for dinner. I can see why this place is a hit for locals, and should be on every tourist's list. The restaurant still has a lovely interior renovation, with lots of plants and an inviting ambiance, but the food no longer feels as special as it once did. The warm pecan dessert was especially disappointing: it arrived on a cold cast-iron skillet, was only barely warm, and lacked the soft, sticky texture we expected. Kind of annoying that they not only forgot one our dishes but also tried to charge us for it twice. Came here for dinner on a Thursday night with reservations. Parking is hard find even on the weekdays. The restaurant is beautiful and there is a nice waiting area where you can order drinks. The food was good and the presentation was wonderful. The DineLA menu seemed to be an up charge so we ordered off the regular menu as well. One person ordered off the DineLA menu and got the scallop crudo, sea bass, and pistachio ice cream. The scallop crudo was very fish and not pleasant in mind. The sea bass with curry was a little too sweet and dry. The pistachio ice cream was amazing though, and I would definitely recommend this. We also got the shellfish bolognese, skirt steak and scallops. The skirt steak was great, and the brocollini that came with it was super charred and flavorful. The bolognese was not what I was expecting, did not taste much shellfish and it was more of a meaty dish, but still good. The scallops arrived after we were done with all of our food, but they were probably the best main course. They were sweet and perfectly cooked. MBP is known as a nice restaurant and with the price tag I expect excellent food and service. The food is pretty good, some dishes have room for improvement. I was already slightly annoyed when they were forgetting drinks, but they also forgot an entree which is a much larger mistake. Bringing food out 20 minutes later when everyone is done eating just isn't really the vibe we were expecting from a restaurant of this caliber.
