We stoped in to Rock N Fish on Thursday evening and sat at the bar. Our bartender Ian was extremely helpful at guiding us through the food and drinks menu, everything he recommended was delicious. We had the Peruvian scallops on the half shell, oysters and a few other items that were on the happy hour, the spicy pineapple margarita was delicious. This is a really nice chilled spot just off the beach perfect for those summer evenings. I recommend sitting at the bar as there can be a wait for tables, hopefully you get to have the fun experience we had with Ian. read more

Being from the Napa Valley, I am always so weary about going out to dinner because I hold restaurants at a very high standard... our first trip to Manhattan beach, we were famished after traveling all day and playing on the beach, my husband stumbled across this restaurant and he has a very good eye for something I would enjoy and he was right! From the time we entered the host was nice and accommodating, our waitress was PHENOMENAL! She was so attentive and very kind and accommodating! I wish I would have remembers her name! The food was excellent! The ribs were fall off the bone, my Mac and cheese perfectly creamy and hot to the touch. The Coleslaw was amazing! Not overly mayonnaisey and super fresh. My niece had a Caesar salad and the spicy Mac, she doesn't eat a lot and she ate both of these to where there were no leftovers. My husband had the seafood pasta and he enjoyed all of it- to the veg last bite. My nephew had the teriyaki chicken, unfortunately the first chicken he got was undercooked and he didn't want to get sick, general manager Nick came over and was amazing to him! He made sure it came out hot and fresh and cooked better. Just for reference , it wasn't severely undercooked but he didn't wanna take any chances. I absolutely loved the casual atmosphere and the World Cup fans (that's why we were in town) and I will definitely book a reservation here next time we are in town! Karina recommended the blackened halibut, I tried it once and now it's my go to every single time. You can taste the perfectly blended spices on the fish. It's bold smokey flavor contrasts well with the buttery finish of the fish which is nice and tender on the inside. You get the option of two sides, I personally like to pair the halibut with mashed potatoes and broccolini. I've came to Rock'N Fish on multiple occasions for different celebrations and always leave satisfied. It's a cute restaurant, they're located right next to the pier and the service is always great. For parking, they have meters out front but it's a busy street so sometimes it can be difficult finding a spot but there's also parking available right next to the pier. (I'm not sure how much they charge there). read more

Came here after a 4 mile walk on the Strand. My wife and I split a Tahitian Ahi Tuna Salad and Sour Dough bread and I had a root beer. The portions were definitely enough for the two of us and Kristin is an excellent server. We think we may have been here a few years ago but are so glad we got to eat here, just a very very short walk from the beach. We will definitely come back and recommend it! read more

Had a wonderful time with friends at Rock N Fish Friday night. Customer service and ambiance were great. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and attentive. The decor here is very pleasant and gives good vibes. Right by the pier this restaurant is the perfect place to hang out. The food was mostly good. We ordered a few appetizers, the coconut shrimp was delicious but the artichokes and the calamari were not. I really enjoyed my side wedge salad and the macadamia nut mahi. My husband ordered the jambalaya and liked it. My friend ordered the fish and chips and it was ok, not the best but not bad either. Overall it's a great place to eat at, you won't be disappointed .....great ambiance and great service. read more

This is my second time here and honestly I'm a bit disappointed. First the bartender didn't seem to enthusiastic when asking what beers light beers are best.. The food was very bland and had no seasoning at all to be honest the bread and fries were the best . The oysters didn't taste fresh at all and the cold lobster roll was ok but I'd pass honestly. Overall the locations is nice very great walk to the beach after but I'd probably just get the burger next time . read more

It was a nice Saturday to try a new seafood restaurant! The food was not the highlight for us but the service and ambiance was perfect. We ordered the calamari for our appetizer - just plays the batter was bland. I ordered the shrimp scampi and my hubby ordered the salmon with veggies. The shrimp scampi could've used more seasoning to bring it the flavor and the same was felt about the salmon dish. Everything was fresh though. Overall, our waitress was super kind, accommodating and attentive thee entire night! I also loved that she offered me a sample of the gumbo before I decided if I wanted to order it and I'm so glad she did bc it didn't have that gumbo flavor I was looking for BUT I wild be interested in returning to try other menu items it just wouldn't be my first choice for seafood. read more

My two guests and I dined here for the first time. Overall it was a decent and worthwhile experience. I'll give you my highs and less than highs. The restaurant is located close to the beach. There are many other nearby restaurants within a couple of short blocks. We parked about 4 blocks away in a parking structure and glad we did because, as we walked to Rock 'N Fish, we didn't see available street parking. I'm rather used to this because finding street parking anywhere in Manhattan Beach business and dining district is always a challenge. My best advice is to know where parking lots and structures are rather than driving around hunting for a place to leave your car. We were greeted by the host at the restaurant. We had a reservation and were seated at a very large and comfortable booth that could have accommodated 6 or even 8 people. I noticed three separate dining areas - one upon entering with informal seating, the main dining room with booths, tables and a bar, and upstairs dining that looked down on the main dining room. Our waiter was very efficient and gave us plenty of time to go through the menu. We started with the Garlic Cheese Toast that was served with tomato sauce. It was a little pricy at $15 but it was very good and fresh and enough to share by two people. The sauce was basically tomato soup and was very flavorful. I had the New England Clam Chowder soup. The server brought it to our table and didn't know who it was for. I told him it was for me and he set it down. But he left the soup spoon at the other far end of the table which was unnoticed even while I was asking our waiter for the spoon. The soup was pretty good, not exceptional and came barely warm (I won't say "cold" but it was just a notch above that level). I've had clam chowder soup at many restaurants and this recipe was filing and full of flavor and essentially met my expectations. We had arrived at 7 pm and, by 7:30 pm, the noise level inside was so energetic that it was nearly impossible to communicate with my guests. I'm not saying this was a bad thing and I only mention it in case people are looking for intimate dining. Two of us had the King Salmon which included two sides. I ordered the dinner salad and baked potato and so did one of my guests. The downer part is the food looked less than appetizing on the plate. The salmon was on the small size and the baked potato had a very rustic appearance. But both were very good. The salmon was cooked properly, pink inside and served at the right temperature. The baked potato was also hot and not overcooked. Looks and presentation aside it was a good meal. My other guest had the Burrata with Braised Leeks and, although we didn't talk about it, he only ate half of it and said he didn't like it. The server who cleaned the table noticed the burrata was only half finished and didn't say or ask anything about my guest's satisfaction. All things considered this is a nice restaurant, especially for those who like the energetic group scene. The food is good, not spectacular and, for the cost, a good deal. I'd say give it a try and, remember, if you drive your car there try to plan ahead and know where to conveniently park. read more

One block from the Beach and the strand, the location is hard to beat. Great place to people watch and get something to drink & eat. Can't beat the view. The food: the lobster tacos are good , they look great , just lack a little more flavor. The popcorn lobster is buttery and taste good, just ...The fries are so crispy and well salted, definitely a great lunch order. My brother having the sea bass , said it was fantastic. From the mashed potatoes AND the asparagus as he said is the bomb. The sea bass is killer! The flavors from the sea bass explode in your mouth. Not over powering , just perfectly. The Bloody Mary adorned with olive, pepper, lemon and lime was a perfect complement to the meal. The service, well there was a table of ten seated on the patio as well, thankfully the manager picked up the slack . He brought out the drinks, the food and made sure that everything was great. Came here on a whim as soon as I got to Manhattan Beach. I had been walking around, got hungry and decided to check the place out. I was dressed super super casual, joggers, sneakers and a tank but I didn't feel out of place here at all. I love how casual California is. Anyways, took a seat at the bar and ordered the Octopus. The bartender was great, attentive and friendly. The dish was amazing, so so good, paired with hummus and tomatoes, perfect portion for a bite. I ended up making friends with some people at the bar who were so cool, everyone here seemed in an upbeat good mood, it felt like a real neighborhood local spot. The bill came and it was like, $13? I thought it was a mistake, so much so that I questioned the bartender and he said yeah it's a happy hour deal. I didn't even know there was a happy hour deal and I'm telling you right now $13 for that octopus was an absolute steal. It wasn't a small portion at all. Definitely glad I walked in here, had a great time and thought about going back hours later for dinner but I didn't want to be weird. read more

This is one of those spots that you can go to and enjoy every moment no matter what you're celebrating or if you're just coming to hang out. I can't tell you how awesome the staff is and how good the food is. Love this spot. The crowd is great the views are even better and it's just an all out great time. Wait time is normally 30 minutes. Parking can be a drag. But it only takes about 15 minutes on a busy day to find a spot. You do have to pay for parking. read more

Ate here recently while on vacation. Ate the oysters. FOOD POISONING!!! Started feeling abdominal pain a couple hours later. A couple hours after that, diarrhea. While at the airport!!! Somehow made it home. Currently have a fever of 101.00F. Feels like my guts are on the outside of my body being stabbed over and over again. I will either spend the last few days of my annual vacation in bed or in the hospital or both. Not only was that shit meal waaaaay overpriced, it's going to cost me a trip to the hospital and the rest of my vacation. At this point it doesn't matter if it was the oysters or cross contamination. It is unacceptable and the worst $150 I've ever spent. There are many other restaurants in the area that might try a little harder NOT to kill you with their food. Good luck. read more

I flew into LA to attend the Blackpink concerts at SoFi and made a reservation at one of my favorite places in Manhattan Beach, Rock 'N Fish. My flight was 3+ hours late but the staff at the restaurant handled my requests to push back my reservation several times ... A big thanks go out to the responsive service ... I finally arrived at 9pm and was seated at a table right by the sidewalk where I could watch the vibrant scene on Manhattan Beach Blvd. I started with a 1908 Empress gin & tonic ($15) while I perused the menu. I ordered a half dozen oysters ($22.95) and the blackened halibut ($49.95) with broccolini and spicy mac-n-cheese as the two sides. The oysters were the size I prefer (small) and were served with cocktail sauce, horseradish and Champagne mignonette. My halibut was not as blackened as I expected, it was more like a well-grilled piece of fish. It was served with grilled lemon, and some Cajun butter. I chose roasted broccolini with honey / sesame glaze and spicy mac-n-cheese as my two sides. The broccolini was so good, I wanted more! I wish my halibut was a bit rarer; I like my fish underdone. That's on me, I failed to tell Lindy how I wanted my fish cooked. I didn't have room for dessert because the mac-n-cheese was so filling, so I ended my meal with a nice cup of coffee (gratis). I asked Lindy if they still had T-shirts for sale. She was unfamiliar with them, but she showed me some caps and I purchased three to give away as gifts back home in Hawaii. If you want good seafood in a vibrant atmosphere, Rock 'N Fish is the place for you! Parking can be problematic, but I've been able to find parking on each visit. Call me lucky! read more

This location is real close to the shore and on the hill. There's metered parking that extends to two hours that accepts quarters or card. The atmosphere here is really neat amd obviously marine themed. I like the fish artwork! The service was great. Our server was really nice and friendly. The food arrived at a good time. I got the blackened Fish Tacos (recommended by the server) and it was delicious. The tortillas seemed homemade and has a nice texture to them. They are generous with the avocado. I liked the seasoning on the fish. You get two cups of sauce but I was mostly tempted to eat the tacos as is. The dishes are well portioned. I was full by the end. Came to Rock n Fish for a business dinner and the food was amazing! Friendly staff and very accommodating. It was my first time trying grilled artichoke and I loved it. We started with the Caesar salad which was perfectly made and this cheesy bread that was incredible. I didn't even have a chance to take pictures because we dug right in! Hadn't dined at Rock'N Fish in ages, but I've now added it to the rotation after some very good, recent lunches. They've got a good lunch special that includes clam chowder or a salad plus Blackened Rockfish or salmon and choice of side dish. The rockfish is served in a sauce (beurre blanc?) with capers. Perfectly cooked. My companion got the brussel sprouts as her side, I ordered the spicy mac & cheese- nice flavor and made for a nicely-portioned lunch. I've tried the fish & chips, the grilled fish tacos, and the macadamia-crusted mahi-mahi on other visits. All solid, well-prepared choices made with quality ingredients. Another highlight is their selection of local spirits. They have locally-headquartered NEFT Vodka which makes for the smoothest Bloody Mary ever. Street parking and parking lots along the beach. Nice view and people-watching from the front patio. Excellent service by Christian, the bartender. When you dine at the bar, he'll make you feel like he actually enjoys serving meals (which I didn't personally love back in my bartending days). Bon Appétit! read more

This is just a few steps from the Manhattan Beach pier and it's well worth a visit! Honestly, maybe a little touristy, but the food was genuinely good and so was the drink. I can't remember what it was called, it was their specialty rum drink, but it was nice and sweet and had crushed ice. Our waitress was great, she did upsell me on the drink (on my visit, it came with the glass for their anniversary!) but it was a very low pressure sale. She made good menu suggestions after asking our general food preferences. We were able to be seated at 11am on a Saturday with absolutely no wait, but it was busier when we left. read more

The fries and sourdough were the highlights of the meal, but everything else lacked flavor. It tasted as though little to no seasoning was used. The ceviche was especially bland. I ended up adding salt, pepper, Tapatío, lime, and even ketchup just to give it some flavor. Overall, I was highly disappointed. Great tasting, quality food! I've been here a few times growing up, and the food is just as delicious as I remember. We ordered their Beer Battered Fish and Chips, New England Clam Chowder, Blackened Oregon Rockfish, ROCK'N Scampi. Their Fish and Chips are pretty good, not dry, and are perfectly crisped. Their fries are just normal fries but they're good. It also comes with a coleslaw salad which was fresh, lightly sweet, and a bit creamy which I liked. The clam chowder was also pretty good. It sort of reminded me of the clam chowder from Erewhon. It consisted of a good number of clams and was nice and creamy. The Blackened Oregon Rockfish was delicious and very fresh. I also really enjoyed the mashed potatoes that came with the dish. The ROCK'N Scampi is a pasta dish. This dish was good and contained shrimps that tasted fresh. Although, I preferred their non-pasta dishes more. Overall, had a great dining experience and the food here was excellent. The servers were very kind and helpful. The restaurant is also super close to the beach, so you can get a pretty nice view of the beach if you dine outdoors. There's no designated parking lot, but I was able to find free parking minutes away walking distance. read more

Yummy spot near the ocean however as you know in a high tourist area prices are also marked up. Parking is terrible as to be expected. Coconut shrimp and the fish tacos were super fresh and tasty. Good quality products with lots of flavor. Even with the coconut shrimp bring fried, it wasn't heavy or oily. read more

Really nice seafood restaurant right in the heart of Manhattan Beach. They serve the biggest oysters I have ever seen. The fish are very fresh and have no fishy flavor at all. First off, here's what's great about this spot: Great location and great service. It's near the water, near other bars and our group of 4 was able to be seated immediately at 12:30pm on a Saturday. What's sadly not so great is the food. We really enjoyed the cocktails and the raw oysters, but the rest was pretty bland. We ordered the fish tacos and the seafood pasta and both lacked flavor and absolutely weren't worth what we paid. Maybe we ordered the wrong items? Unsure. read more

We were able to get a reservation, which I definitely recommend doing. The inside is nice. We got to sit in the bar room and really loved the vibe. Our group had a variety of entrees but the two that stuck out were the Barramundi and Classic Lobster Roll. Absolutely recommend both! They have a great selection of sides that you can swap out as well. The drinks were delicious as well. The Navy Grog is their specialty cocktail, and it is so good! Comes in a fun glass as well. My family and I dined here this evening with high expectations, but unfortunately the night took a troubling turn. Within hours of returning home, my wife became severely nauseous and began vomiting--symptoms significant enough that food safety immediately came to mind. While it's impossible to state with certainty what caused the illness, the timing is difficult to ignore. When you choose a restaurant that specializes in seafood, freshness and food handling are non-negotiable. Experiencing this level of sickness after dinner is concerning and not something any guest should have to worry about. What makes this especially disappointing is that Rock'N Fish has built a reputation in the South Bay as a reliable dining destination. Tonight's experience fell far short of that expectation. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, reviews food handling procedures, and reaches out to discuss the situation. At the very least, I want other diners to be aware of our experience and encourage the restaurant to investigate whether this was an isolated incident or part of a larger problem. read more
