We were in town to celebrate our twins' 25th birthdays and my daughter recommended Nick's. We had a fantastic experience start to finish. The hosts up front were friendly and personable. Our server, Raquel, was lovely and on top of things. I had what I think is the best Mai Tai I've ever had, even while in Hawaii! Just delicious. We enjoyed the fried asparagus and bacon deviled eggs as our appetizer. The buttermilk fried chicken, crispy chicken sandwich and the ribeye melt were really good, but I am STILL thinking about how incredible Cha Cha's Spicy Rigatoni was. So incredibly creamy, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of heat. My daughter orders this every time it's on a menu, and this is by far the best I've ever tasted. SO good. We had mentioned we were celebrating our twins' birthday, and they were served two lovely pieces of chocolate cake with a candle, AND a card for each of them signed by the staff. Never have I experienced that before for a birthday in a restaurant! Just a great touch. I am SO glad my daughter suggested we go here, and every time we're in town we will return. Our second time here in the past month we like it so much! The food is incredible and the portions are seriously healthy. We reccomend the Sea Bass and the Rib Eye sandwich. WOW! The waitstaff is fantastic, making wonderful suggestions for drinks and deserts. They are totally friendly, efficient, and on top of things. The ambiance is also excellent!! Dinner at Nick's Manhattan Beach was such a great experience. I ordered the fish sandwich and it was absolutely delicious--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Around the table, my group had the Cuban sandwich and the steak & baked potato pie, and everyone was really happy with their dishes. We started with appetizers and shared the spinach dip and shrimp taquitos, both of which were great starters and easy to share. I was hoping to try one of the pasta dishes, but they were all out--which honestly just tells you how popular they must be. Definitely gives me a reason to come back. The ambiance was one of my favorite parts: dark, cozy, and warm with a really nice vibe. Service was attentive and pleasant without being overbearing, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. Parking tip for future visits: we initially parked down the street, but realized there's a lot directly across from the restaurant, which is super convenient. What a great, upscale restaurant a block away from the beach. There's plenty of parking and it's free right now for Christmas. There's lots of delicious food options and the bar happy hour was great too. We sat out on the patio and the heaters were on above us so it was a little toasty. My ribs were delicious and I loved the kale salad that came with them. The butter cake melted in my mouth. Not cheap ( $38 for ribs and $18 for a glass of wine). Wait staff were very attentive and were constantly coming to our table to refill water glasses and pick up empty dishes. Great social place to get together with friends. read more

Came here for a date night on Saturday with a reservation. Highly recommend a reservation since it tends to get really busy. Half of the restaurant is outside FYI. Overall great service and food. (first time i came here, they forgot my appetizer order and it didn't come out until we got dessert but they comped it for us) We ordered the crispy tuna rice, sea bass and the prime rib dip - all were delicious! Salmon is tender and not dry. Like the tartness on the spinach and the creamy potatoes 2. Blue crab crispy roll: okay... Wouldn't get it again 3. Chicken lemon piccata: tasted better when I had dine in but was not good with take out. not as flavorful and a bit dry. 4. Cheeseburger: solid but not anything special 5. Disappointed by last experience at Nick's. A restaurant that we have gone to many times for business and pleasure in Manhattan Beach and Carlsbad! The consistency in food quality is lacking! This was evident during our last visit to the Manhattan Beach Restaurant. My husband I stopped in late afternoon to grab some refreshments and a meal at the bar. As always the service at the bar for drinks was excellent: especially the bar back. A very hard working women who loves her job. Our experience with food and service was another story. We started out with appetizers: decided to try something new....the bear offered several sushi options so chose to try this over our standard asparagus appetizer. When it took approximately 30 minutes to get sushi we knew something was wrong. Our second clue was when the wait staff was avoiding us until somebody finally approached us and said sorry, we need to make the sushi again. After hearing this I was second guessing our option... especially after 30 minutes. Note restaurant was empty when we ordered. We finally received our sushi and the shrimp inside was minimal, almost a joke and over fried and cooked. The sushi texture was tough and frankly the order was not edible. We had to send it back. We also order a steak and the infamous stuff potato. The steak was ok but I think the quality of cut was different than I remember. The potato was a bit too salty for me: I know there's always a salt coating on the outside but seems to be overpowering. Also I was sad to hear my Bees Knee drink was taken off the money. This is a classic drink. This restaurant made it perfectly with its fresh juices! I was told to mention this to corporate. With an experience like this: and given there is a lot of like restaurants to Nick's we may choose to spend our money elsewhere where we can expect consistent food quality. read more

Great first visit. We were in the area and stopped in- I'm glad we did! Excellent service from Connor, he was attentive and helpful. We had a Dirty Martini and an iced tea. Food wise we had: Shrimp Taquitos- large shrimp and tasty. Spicy tuna rolls- freshly made and delicious The SF Cioppino- tomato base and delicious with shrimp clams and halibut. Large bowl was $38. Nick's Manhattan Beach was a perfect choice for our grown ups only lunch with my husband's family. Parking was crazy during the time we went around 2pm. We were driving around for 15 minutes trying to find parking. Funny enough, we finally snagged a space in the parking lot across from Nick's. 2 hour metered parking limit. Ugh. We had a reservation for 10 guests. They sat us at a big round table on the patio. Adeli was our lovely server and she was very sweet and attentive for the duration of our dining experience. Amazing service. The menu looked so good. Everything was pricey, especially considering it was only lunch time. But this is a nice restaurant too so the prices don't really shock me either. I opted for the Chicken Katsu Salad. The salad had Chicken Katsu, mango, heirloom tomatoes, red peppers, crispy carrots, serrano peppers, peanuts, napa cabbage, arugula, asian cilantro dressing. Yummy! I was super happy with my choice because the presentation was on point but more importantly, all the flavors complimented each other. The textures of this salad were on point. Chicken Katsu was fresh and crispy and was a nice touch to the salad all in all. The Blackened Fish Sandwich was a popular item. I almost ordered that too but all the salads looked unique and tasty. Prime Rib Dip Sandwich looked appealing too as I'm a big fan of French Dip sandwiches all in all. It was a nice day out with the grown ups and no kids. Nick's was the perfect spot with delicious food, good drinks, great service and the whole vibe/ambiance. I would highly recommend this spot for a nice meal. DO IT!!! read more

Nick's is a very nice MB restaurant that has a good variety of offerings. As a vegan it's always difficult going out to eat so, when necessary, I'll make an exception for some cheese. I would say you could pretty easily eat vegan here. I had the house-made veggie burger that comes with Swiss cheese (but requested no cheese) and fries. It's very good and quite filling. They do also have some good sounding salads which I'll try next time. I had to try the non- vegan asparagus fries which a pretty yummy. Nice cocktails and hard to choose from the drink list! They also serve coke in a bottle which was a treat! The service was above average and I enjoyed the elegant yet casual ambiance of the restaurant which is very Manhattan Beach, so a tad bougie in a nice way. Thankfully, parking is easy with public parking near this location. I recommend! read more

Really nice spot with great vibes -- the atmosphere alone makes it worth the visit. Service is impeccable, almost a bit too attentive at times, but always friendly and professional. There is an outdoor patio too, which seemed heated. We ordered a few drinks and they tasted great, though they were a little on the lighter side. Definitely try the margarita. We also shared the artichoke dip, which was really good and a perfect appetizer. Parking is easy if you use the public underground lot nearby -- about $2.50 per hour until 9 PM, and free after that, which is a big plus in this area. read more

My husband and I went to dinner here and loved it. The ambience was so relaxing and inviting. Our server Carlos was so attentive and friendly. Andrew the manager came by to say hi and make sure everything was perfect, he is so accommodating and nice and smiling all the time. I waited another 15 minutes for a table to leave. Not a great start. The place was nice it was a little smaller than the Nick's I normally would go to(South of Nick's in San Clemente). But they didn't skimp on the ambiance of the place. It would make a great date night spot. Since it was my first time to Manhattan Beach I didn't know that Parking is Metered every where close to the restaurant untill after 9pm most places its 6pm. Now the restaurant did seat us within 45mins of walking in which was good because it was a last-minute meetup with family from New Orleans and we didn't have reservations. Once we were done eating we moved to a bar top and watch the Dodgers winning the World Series. The food is where they lose the one star. It wasn't bad tasting or that it came out cold. It just tasted like it was slapped together. We went on the waiters recommendation after he hit it out the park with the appetizer suggestion. Plus we only had one dietary concern, no pork! So he said the Shrimp Taquitos as our shareable which was awesome. Then he suggested the Sea Bass and the buttermilk fried Checken with Smashed Potatoes and Crispy Chicken Sandwich. So the Sea Bass was Mid at best. The Buttermilk Chicken was a hit but you can tell that the potatoes were either just nuked in a microwave or it was under a heating lamp for a minute because no matter how much butter and pepper we put in it, ther wasn't much pop to it. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich is the other reason for the minus one star. I should have just sent it back instead of trying to be not rude. Plus not to embarrass my family because this place was my idea. I just removed the toppings at the table. I knocked everything that came on that Sandwich off except for the herb mayo and the tomatoes and the arugula. Which made it OK. I also had the Smashed Potatoes too. Now the Alcohol was right, whomever the bartender was hats off to you sir. Plus they use the Mexican Coke so that was also a nice touch. Also the Men's bathroom was immaculate good job. So with Food, TIP, 2 drinks for 3 ppl its was $220. Sorry didn't take photos of the others food they had already started digging in. In the future i may give them another shot if someone else is paying. Until then I'll still explore the Manhattan Beach area and just stick to my usual Nick's location. read more

My daughter and I didn't even receive our salad! The stuff he said to counter my review was not totally true. There were tables inside directly off the patio, that remained unseated the entire time we were seated separately outside on the patio. We left around 9 pm. What time were those reservations they said those tables were reserved for showing up on a Sunday night showing up? That was a total lie! Don't expect a call to confirm your reservation at this restaurant. Everything is robotic, from their co formation text from a short code, to their management. If you're fine with that corporate kind of restaurant., good for you. I like a bit more of a caring, human approach. read more

There are so many great Italian places in LA that have perfected this dish so I was a little worried I'd be disappointed, but it was great! We also shared the butter cake for dessert, this dessert is absolutely amazing. There are babies everywhere, the patio vibes are elite, and I get to people-watch like a tiny VIP. So honestly, how do you look at all these cute diapered butts and NOT install one single luxurious changing station?? There is SO much empty space crying out for a Koala Kare with a plush mattress topper. Come on, guys, my royal rump deserves better! Last visit, Mom and Dad's steaks came out looking like hockey pucks (they were big mad) and I had to waddle next door to Petros for emergency pit-stop privileges. I had dinner with a friend in the outdoor space on a cool Spring evening and had a wonderful dinning experience. The service was both attentive and didn't leave us feel rushed or overwhelmed. For starters, we ordered a delicious Ahi tartar served with avocado and it was delicious. For dinner I ordered a salmon dish and it was cooked perfectly; sometimes, salmon is overcooked and can be dry. The salmon was topped with a delicious sauce which included capers which provided a beautiful compliment to the fish. I had tried the Long Beach location so I wanted to try this one. I didn't like the sushi roll I tried. It had bell peppers, cucumbers and it was topped with salmon. I felt like it was too many flavors in one roll. I also tried the chicken Picatta and it was ok. My date tried the sea bass and it was awesome. Their lattes are amazing and so if their butter cake. Went for a celebratory dinner with the family. All of us enjoyed the food we ordered with some leftovers to spare. They have a lot of items on the menu and ones that are consistent. They do customize - remove cheese for example - and have a great variety for diverse tastes. Parking is below the building with meters on the street too. Sometimes can get busy. Rez are important because they get busy, but we were able on a weekday to move our Rez up an hour. It's quiet and easy to talk - with mood lighting for dinner. Highly recommend the butter cake for dessert, cioppino and salads. My fav the asparagus appetizer. read more
