    Spinach and Artichoke Dip Appetizer
    Steven H.

I had Rigatoni and Sausage with Filet Mignon Skewers in Teriyaki Glaze with Coronas to wash it down. This is a five star food establishment with three star service. The rigatoni was al dente perfect and the light cream sauce was amazing. Very delicate seasoning by an obviously skilled hand. The sausage was full of flavor. The side skewers were delicious. Beefy, tender, nice Asian flavors and I could eat 10 orders without taking a breather. Also on the table was classic Spinach and Artichoke Dip--creamy, flavorful and delicious. I wanted to comment on the Corona beers with limes. They were delicious. Up in hinterlands of NoAZ we don't always get fresh items. The Coronas reminded me of Mexican beaches with fresh full-flavored Mexican beers and limes. Really good! ¡Arriba, Abajo, en Centro, en Dentro--Saluuud! As to the service, it was friendly, accurate but not fast. Very long waits for items that should be served immediately, like drinks, like ordering, like food courses arriving in a reasonable time. Not bad service, simply slower service than I'm used to getting.

It's fuzzy, but hey a view from inside those famed stained glass windows!

It can get pretty pricey depending on what you order, but everything we had was delicious. We ordered the crab cake that our server highly recommended, a 1/2 dozen fresh oysters, and the Tomahawk steak -- all were excellent. Drinks were also on point; the margarita and espresso martini were both good. Our server also surprised us with a complimentary birthday treat, a really nice touch that made the night feel special. One heads up: be careful with parking meters! We saw a few people getting tickets while we were enjoying the beautiful view from our table. Our reservation wasn't until 8:30, so we hung out downstairs for about an hour first. Met a lot of people who were clearly locals and regulars, which always says a lot about a spot. Once we sat down for dinner, we ordered a few things. The bluefin tostadas are a must if you're into seafood. We also had the scallops delicious doesn't even do them justice, just wish there was more than one . My hubby ordered the lamb, which was probably our least favorite since it was a bit dry. The rigatoni though? Unbelievably good. Honestly, I'd come back and order the exact same items minus the lamb lol. Shoutout to Griffin for keeping us going all night . And the buttermilk bread? So good I almost cried. Parking is pretty easy, but definitely come early on a nice day. There are a couple of metered lots nearby with up to 5-hour parking. They have a good selection of beers. The seating is packed, but it's fun and festive. We got the 15 minute wings. I have to say, they were just okay. For the price, I'm not sure they are worth it. The sauce is a little sweet, and no one at my table thought it was as amazing as they claim. Don't get me wrong, they have good crunch and all that, but they end up being almost $3.00 a wing. I got the simmzys burger that's kinda like a smash burger. I didn't love the texture of the meat. I don't know what grind they are using, but it felt like a cheaper grind. It had some bits that were chewy. My husband had the other burger and he thought the same. Didn't love the meat. The fries are thin and you can mix with sweet potato fries which is fun. The tostada was a great deal for the price. I liked the place. I just wasn't blown away. They do a good job. But I've had better wings and burgers. Worth a try. I'd come again and order differently.

Every round that hit the table was a "pass it around, everybody try this" moment. The kind of happy hour where you're not just snacking -- you're accidentally having a full-on dinner because you can't stop ordering "one more thing." Food: Legit. Everything we tried was solid, but the wings were the standout for me -- the kind you keep reaching for even when you tell yourself you're good. Great flavor, cooked right, and they held their own against any wing spot that claims they're "known for wings." Whatever they're doing back there, keep doing that. Service / experience: This is where they really won. Trent was our guy tonight and I can't say enough about him. Manager supreme is the right title -- he wasn't just checking boxes, he was running the whole experience. He served, suggested, kept the pacing perfect, and made it feel effortless while still being locked in the entire time. You can tell when someone actually cares that your night is going well, and Trent is that dude. Major asset to this business and the kind of manager that turns first-time visits into "we're coming back next week." Atmosphere was exactly what you want for Manhattan Beach happy hour: lively, comfortable, easy to settle in, and perfect for a group. We came to try the menu and ended up staying for the vibe. Only complaint -- and it's not even on them, it's on the "beach cities trying to save the world one soggy sip at a time" vibe -- the paper straws. I swear those things last 11 minutes before they turn into a wet napkin. Let me live, Rockerfellas Bottom line: If you want a happy hour that actually delivers, Rockerfellas is it. Bring friends, come hungry, and if you get Trent taking care of you? You're in elite hands. We'll be back.

One of those evenings we ended up at Hennessey's Tavern as a glance at the menu showed that there would be something for everyone, and indeed that was definitely the case! First up was that they had some good drink choices I never expected from an Irish pub alongside classic choices and all at very reasonable prices, especially for being right near the beach, only two or three blocks. Just like usual I opted for soup, going with their French onion, and then a corned beef sandwich, and I am VERY critical of corned beef anything due to my family deli background. But this sandwich was damn good. Not the best, but really good. High quality corned beef and more on the lean kosher side and the rye bread was also on point. Absolutely delicious! Another highlight was the hand cut and fried potato chips, presumably russets, cooked until they were nice and dark brown for all those wonderful robust and earthy flavors that you don't often get from potato chips unless they're handmade. Everything at Hennessey's was really good and in a fun Irish pub atmosphere. The Guinness also took the meal up a notch as it should. This was definitely a nice stop on our trip and had we more time to spend, we likely would have returned here again simply because of the good selection and the quality to price. If you are in and around Manhattan Beach and you want something that is a little heartier and is centered around that traditional pub vibe, this is definitely the way. Give them a shot and stop on in!
