Charcuterie board
Jason L.

Went here for a Friday dinner, sat on the outside with a view of the ocean which is beautiful. Service is quick and the waiter was very attentive, although the hostess tried to sit us "outside" with a table which is looking into the restaurant which is worse than no view before I told her no.. Food was good for the most part, we really liked one of the cheeses in the charcuterie board (saint nectaire) to the point where we went to the store to buy our own afterwards. The scallops for the pesto pasta were cooked perfectly, tender, no rubbery/fishiness, just a vibrant rich flavor. The fideo de mare had an interesting texture due to the toasted noodles but the sauce was a little too watery which I didn't like.

My friend and I had a vibey brunch at The Strand House. We made a 1pm reservation and I'm glad that we did because the place was completely packed. We were seated at a table right against the window with a prime ocean view. Our server, while pleasant, left us alone for long periods of time. Because he seemed to have forgotten about us, we weren't able to order for quite some time and thus received our food over an hour after arriving. We started with the crab cakes. Tasty, but not worth the cost. For my main I had the Parisian Ham and Cypress Grove Cheese Omelette. They knew what they were doing by putting Cypress Grove in the name, because I love that cheese and knew I had to order this. The plate was beautiful, the portion was large and it was all-around satisfying. This is the place to go for a more upscale experience right by the beach, and the spot to come for a lively meal with friends.

If you're looking for the best sunset view in the South Bay, you can't beat Strand House in Manhattan Beach. On a beautiful California evening, this place is the total triple threat -- great food, great service, and an unbeatable atmosphere. This place is ALWAYS packed and reservations are highly recommended!!! We grabbed a table right around sunset and the view over the ocean was absolutely stunning. Watching the sun drop below the horizon while the restaurant fills with that golden coastal glow is an experience all on its own. We kept things light and shared a couple of appetizers, a salad, and a side dish, and everything was fresh and flavorful. Perfect portions for grazing while enjoying the view and a drink. The service was just as impressive -- friendly, attentive, and perfectly timed without ever feeling rushed. Between the incredible sunset, delicious food, and top-notch service, Strand House is easily one of my favorite spots in Manhattan Beach. Perfect for a date night or just soaking in a classic California sunset.

We recently visited to celebrate our anniversary. While we were disappointed to find that some items listed on the website menu had been removed, we had an overall satisfying experience. The Pan Seared Aegean Branzino, Crab Cakes, and Lychee Rose Cake were all amazing. We found the King Crab-Stuffed Shrimp to be just okay, and likely wouldn't order it again. The cocktails were mixed well and refreshing The ambiance was perfect for the occasion and the staff were very friendly. A pleasant evening.

Easter lunch at The Strand House--where the ocean view showed up on time, but the food... took its time. We skipped the $95 prix fixe and went à la carte, though the menu still felt oddly brunch-shy--more "polite lunch" than holiday spread. The setting? Hard to beat. Perfect weather, sweeping views, prime Strand people-watching. If vibes alone could carry a meal, this would be five stars. Service, however, moved at a very... coastal pace. About 20 minutes to order, then close to 50 minutes before anything hit the table. Plenty of time to admire the ocean, reconsider life choices, and memorize the menu. Food was a mixed bag: * The banana soufflé pancake was the hero. Banana nailed that crispy-meets-soft contrast. The pancake itself? More "soufflé-adjacent" than actual soufflé. * The eggs benedict... let's just say the hollandaise took a creative detour and landed somewhere near cream of mushroom. Not the destination you want. Verdict: Come for the view, stay for the sunshine, and maybe eat beforehand.

The Baseline: For a sit down upper-scale restaurant is the quality of the food, existence of any unique offerings, quality of the service, and ambiance of the overall dining experience. Food: The Hand Cut Frites is still my favorite. It is my appetizer and we always order them. Service: Great service for the night. My water glass was kept full. Ambiance: Great restaurant that was overlooking the beach and we had a great corner table to see the strand and the pier.

Came here for a special occasion 18th birthday celebration family friend. I love all their delicious foods and desserts. Their food presentation is so cute and nicely done. The beef short ribs is a must meat is juicy, tender and mushroom packed flavor so good. The salmon plate is perfectly cooked not dry with umami. Best of all is the donut flight what a delight to finish off your dinner. The flavors and designs are amazing and creative. Don't skip on their cocktails. The staff is very attentive to our party. We have a pre set menu arranged in advance. We sat on a long table middle of the restaurant not situated in a separate function room that's the only thing they lack. Ambient lighting and mellow music on the background. The space is not that big that's why loud noise from people around us is intense. The best unobstructed sunset view of the Marina Del Rey ocean through full glass windows adds to the beauty of the day. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for spectacular place to celebrate special events.

An incredible dining spot right near the pier, with truly stunning ocean views, especially at sunset. The food was just as impressive as the setting. The fries are a must-try, perfectly crisp and flavorful. The ahi tuna salad was fresh and beautifully balanced, not overpowered by vinegar (as it usually happens) and the sea bass was cooked to perfection with lots of flavours. For dessert, the truffle hazelnut treat is an absolute standout, rich, indulgent, and reminiscent of a Ferrero Rocher. Parking in the area can be a bit challenging, with mostly metered spots nearby. There is some free street parking in the surrounding residential areas if you don't mind a short walk.

Wild Mushroom Omelette

Brunch with an ocean view....exactly what we were looking for. We started with the crab cakes, which were generously packed with crab and paired perfectly with the gribiche sauce. I then ordered the Wild Mushroom Omelette for my main. It was loaded with tons of fresh mushrooms. I added a side of bacon, which ended up tucked inside the omelette, and it was delicious. The eggs were buttery and fluffy. Service was excellent. The drinks were tasty and nicely poured. Overall this is a great spot to enjoy a weekend brunch with a beautiful view.

P M.

Pros: location, view (if you have a window), steak was finished phenomenally, prompt - but not rushed service Cons: crowded seating can make solo dates awkward, arrive early to allow time to park. Bottom Line: classy joint on the pier

In the heart of Manhattan Beach with beach view. It's classy place with nice dim Moody lighting and a soft atmosphere. The service was superb. Not only the waiter comes by to check your needs, the manager/owner also comes by to have a small chat. The food was served within timely manner. The dish were freshly prepared. Their seafood and Italian were pretty good. Not too overwhelmingly salty, and truffle could be tasted. However, the dessert was overly sweet for my mature taste buds. They dont have artisan beer, and most are just branded names which I dislike. The wine selection is better with some good choices. The place is quite pricey for its atmosphere and view. Overall, the food was good but not the best. Excellent customer service. Overall, Id give it a 4.2 out of 5.

All delicious meals prepared with love. Top notch ingredients. Incredible views of the pacific. Attentive staff. The bar downstairs if you want to catch a cocktail and maybe some live music depending on the day. Val and Jesus will definitely take care of you. Oh yeah please say hello to Patrick

Very good restaurant/bar with great views over the ocean. It probably has the best view in Manhattan. The food is casual but good. The service is great. Overall it's a great experience and highly recommended for the vibes and view. The food is good but average.

After about twenty minutes of being ignored someone came and grabbed my husbands empty glass but left my completely full glass sitting on the bar mat. Server Álvaro is an actual SAINT at Saint & Second!…read more I want to start by clarifying that I went to S&S yesterday afternoon ready to cry major boo-hoo tears to my two besties, without much of an appetite. Instead, I ended up with a full belly and side cramps from laughing along with our awesome server, Alvaro. The Man. The Myth. The Legend that he is! Small Backstory: Last Friday I lost my job of almost 25 years in public education due to a complicated work accident (my back was broken & I now have screws in my spine) and I planned to whine to my best friends into a cocktail or two, and get out plenty of Kim Kardashian ugly-cry faces until it would be time to go home. Enter ALVARO! This kind man had the nerve to be polite to us! The nerve! LOL. He greeted us with a warm smile while my cold heart was practically making it snow. He explained all portions of the breathtaking menu when I had planed to eat my sadness. He even had the GALL to say if we wanted something not on the menu that he would see what he could do to make it happen! Here I was, ready to drink Unicorn Tears, and he was cheering me up! WHAT THE??! LOL The three is us started with the MEZZE PLATE. And OH LORD! I think we ate the print off of the plates while trying to get to the last crumb. We polished off a whole extra serving of cucumber slices in the process, by the way, and I'm not embarrassed to say that. The Turkish honey-sweetened labne was such a party in our mouths! Make of that what you will. Each of us got a dinner entre, with mine being the S&S Fish and Chips. I loved that the fillet was not overly battered and the chips had an almost double-Belgium fried taste going on. I couldn't help but swipe several spoons worth of aged-cheddar grits off a friend's seared pork chop plate. Now THOSE were some butter-heaven sent grits! My drink, that kept shooting partially through my nostrils from laughter, was a classic margarita on the rocks. No margaritas were injured/harmed in the process of my belly laughter. At some point towards the end of our night, a patron of the mall next door pulled the site-wide fire alarm, ringing through the whole location for everyone to use caution and head to the closest exit. If you grew up like my friends and I, you don't follow that suggestion unless you're trying to run out on the bill like a jerk. Bless be to Alvaro, he stopped by our table several times to apologize about the noise and flashing lights and explained the fire department was working on it. I explained that the Hood Cricket sound didn't bother us and we were happy to wait out the alarm. So not only did Alvaro provide us with excellent service, an outstanding meal, and generous smiles, but he also made sure that we felt SEEN. And THAT is what made the whole evening worth it. No sadness or cringey tears about a lost job were needed. It ends up all we needed was a server named Alvaro at Saint & Second to make my spirits feel high again. Pricing is a bit high but was totally worth it! Patrons were dressed business casual. Sound level, not counting the hood cricket, was mid and conversation was easy to have. Several televisions were playing different stations but no captions were provided. There is handicap parking available in the parking garage located just outside the front door of the establishment and no stairs or elevators are needed to enter. There are several entrances/exits to the available outdoor seating area and outdoor heaters are available. Glances around showed me that every patron I saw was tucking into their plates with smiles and were enjoying themselves. I have already made plans to return to S&S in another two weeks because it was indeed THAT GOOD! And for those fine diners that are wondering, "But what is a Hood Cricket?"
