The Strand House is a great pick if you want something upscale with great surf and turf option. I'm not much for seafood, but there were plenty of incredible options for everyone in our party. Came here for a business dinner vase in colleague's recommendation. The restaurant features gorgeous view of the manhattan beach. We started with the grilled octopus. Soo yummy! Food: Came here for brunch on a Saturday morning. The Huevos Rancheros was awesome and good (5 out of 5). Jammy over easy eggs pled right into my sauced up tortilla chips. The side of beans were spot on with it. Also the Bloody Mary is bloody darn good with a big slice of bacon backing that up. The fish tacos were delicious as well as the Eggs benedict. The Strand was super busy on a Tuesday night, so I'm glad we were able to make a reservation. We were led upstairs to sit outside on the patio, which had a cute view of the beach. There's metered parking in the lower lots that's convenient. The menu here is pretty extensive, but we got to order a number of things. My favorite was the french fries, they were well fried and seasoned. They came with a ton too! We couldn't even finish it. Their bluefin tuna was really good too and they also offered to make it GF for people in our party. Their yellowtail crudo was a bit too fishy for us. Their octopus was really great as well! For entrees, I tried the salmon and the short rib. The salmon was cooked well, but a really small portion for the price. The veg with it was a bit too acidic for me. Depending on when you go parking can be rough. There is street parking available and a few small lots, but it gets packed quickly. The food here is undeniably delicious, but the portion sizes are on the smaller side and the prices run high. I stopped in for lunch and ordered the chicken Caesar salad, scallops, and a side of fries. Every dish tasted great, but $14 for a side of fries gives you a clear idea of where the rest of the menu is priced. Excellent flavor, but prepare to spend a bit extra for what you get. read more

The service was great and the food came out fast. I got the burrata crostini to start, it was perfect with large pieces of burrata. I had the pesto pasta with seared scallops as my main. The scallops were cooked well but a little on the rare side. The pesto pasta was delicious and pretty sure it's freshly made pasta. It was the right amount of food for lunch. I came across some photos on my social media from when I visited The Strand House in Manhattan Beach on August 30th, 2020. Located right by the beach, the restaurant has an absolutely amazing ocean view. I remember having brunch there, and everything we ordered was delicious. I also remember the service being very friendly and welcoming. Today, a friend mentioned that she had been there, and it suddenly brought back memories of my own visit. So I went searching through my old photos and found these. Manhattan Beach used to be one of my favorite places to visit, and I went there quite often back then. Every time my family and I went to Manhattan Beach I thought this restaurant was so beautiful. I told myself I must try this restaurant out on my birthday and it exceeded all my expectation's. The food, staff, and ambiance were beyond amazing!!! We came for our 530pm dinner reservation and was seated right away. I had asked if I can have a window seat and they made sure to accommodate. Next time I think I would like to try the outdoor patio space. We ordered so much food. Every single dish that came out was super yummy, but the dish that blew mine and my husband's mind was that Branzino. Best Branzino we had ever tasted. The outside was crispy and the inside was super moist and tender. The restaurant even had a kids menu. So for all the folks with young kiddos great place to take your kids. Had a great dinner with the family at the Strand House. We were seated at a table with a beautiful ocean view. It was a little overcast so we didn't see a sunset today. Our server Mark was great and explained the menu and popular dishes. We started off with crab cakes and had the branzino, sea scallops and lam chops for the main course. My daughter had grilled chicken and french fries. BTW, the french fries were delicious! We all enjoyed our meals. My lamb chops were perfectly cooked at medium-rare but a little under seasoned. They brought me a salt and pepper mill to season the chops. I was a little surprised that they were under seasoned. I asked for iced tea refills and they were obliging. The meal was moderately priced but for the ambiance and good quality, it was worth it. The service was spot on with plenty of staff attending to our needs. The Strand House is a well-established restaurant in Manhattan Beach along its main corridor, and the final restaurant leaving the downtown area before you reach the pier and beach. The Strand House offers good food, goodservice, and amazing views and vibes at reasonable, but upscale prices. We came with my family for an early dinner on a Sunday afternoon. Off the lunch menu we had the Italian panini ($29), which was a surprisingly complex sandwich with mortadella, salami, onions, lettuce, fresh Marzano tomatoes, and many other vegetables. It was served with an exceptional set of fries, which had a great amount of garlic and the perfect blend of crisp on the outside and softness on the inside, along with tangy ketchup. The children got the pasta bolognese ($14), which was a standard bolognese, although the pasta was a little overcooked. We also got a child salmon ($21), a surprisingly generous piece of fish, well cooked with a somewhat crispy exterior and soft interior alongside broccolini and whipped mashed potatoes. The service was decent - our server collected our order, checked on us appropriately, and generally took care of us throughout our visit. As the pictures suggest, the interior is quite upscale, scattered across three floors with a view overlooking the main road and the beach itself. This led to an excellent, breezy atmosphere and spectacular views, perfect for a hot day. Prices are a little on the elevated side, but not excessive, given the highly popular location of this restaurant and excellent views. Overall, The Strand House offers an appropriately upscale lunch or dinner at an elevated price for the discerning customer looking for good food and excellent views with a price to match. We went for a ladies brunch on a Saturday. Good thing we made a reservation and we were seated quickly. Ambience: (5/5) The view from upstairs is unbeatable. You could see the ocean and the pier while we ate. The dining room felt bright and open, and it made the whole brunch feel special. It wasn't the best area to dine in. It felt like they just shoved us in there and did not even ask if we were ok with our table being out in the patio. I preferred to be inside the dining area because it looks more peaceful, comfortable and enjoyable. Overall ambience is nice, bright and airy. The patio is too tight and the guy behind me keeps hitting my chair. We dine in quick because I wasn't liking the area where we were. They could've offered us a better space. Came by for dinner one night to check out their hosting spaces. The main dining room overlooks the beach and has great views and ambiance. Though the hostesses were weird and off-putting, our server and the event coordinator whom we were speaking with were so kind and helpful! The food was so good. Stopped by for dinner and drinks with my hubby and a friend this place is definitely a vibe and super close to the ocean. Best time to go is for happy hour before sunset. Our reservation wasn't until 8:30, so we hung out downstairs for about an hour first. Met a lot of people who were clearly locals and regulars, which always says a lot about a spot. Once we sat down for dinner, we ordered a few things. The bluefin tostadas are a must if you're into seafood. We also had the scallops delicious doesn't even do them justice, just wish there was more than one . My hubby ordered the lamb, which was probably our least favorite since it was a bit dry. The rigatoni though? Unbelievably good. Honestly, I'd come back and order the exact same items minus the lamb lol. Shoutout to Griffin for keeping us going all night . And the buttermilk bread? Think Times Square type vibe. There paid beach parking that's usually full, street meters also usually full and nearby parking paid, also usually full. It's hit or miss and more miss than hit! Save yourself the stress and walk there, take public transport or uber/lyft. Views: 5 for view if you can snag an up or downstairs window seat, you can see the beach, and pier but not the sunset. You gotta walk down to the beach for that. Food: 4-5 for food. The Brussels sprouts are good and a tad soggy, the French fries are a 5, the bread rolls with butter are a 5. Prices: The prices are high but that's par for the oceanfront view. Music: is a 1 at best. They need a live band or DJ. Music as horrible! Service: was good. Why come here? My friend and I had a vibey brunch at The Strand House. We made a 1pm reservation and I'm glad that we did because the place was completely packed. We were seated at a table right against the window with a prime ocean view. Our server, while pleasant, left us alone for long periods of time. Because he seemed to have forgotten about us, we weren't able to order for quite some time and thus received our food over an hour after arriving. We started with the crab cakes. Tasty, but not worth the cost. For my main I had the Parisian Ham and Cypress Grove Cheese Omelette. They knew what they were doing by putting Cypress Grove in the name, because I love that cheese and knew I had to order this. The plate was beautiful, the portion was large and it was all-around satisfying. Let's start off with make sure you have an appointment for dinner because they do tend to get busy. The views are great! Drinks were very tasty but they did cheap out on the alcohol. I asked for a double and it definitely was not however the bill was! The food was very bland whether it was the salmon, ribs or pasta. Decent presentation I'll give them that much but they really need to work on taste. The tuna tar tar was the best thing they had. The prices were very expensive for what you got. Lastly, the waiters need to work on their attitude. She did try to pretend like she was nice but you could tell she just wanted us to leave which got very annoying. I read some of the other reviews and people said breakfast and lunch is pretty good here so I'm not counting it out completely but for dinner never again. read more

It wasn't bad, necessarily -- the watermelon and feta salad was nothing like we had expected. I thought maybe it would have some greens with cubes of watermelon and feta. What we got were big chunks of watermelon with a little feta and a sprig or two of greens on top. I think it had olive oil drizzled on the plate. Again, it tasted fine, but visually it wasn't what we expected, especially at that price point. Parking was not the best, even for a Tuesday evening, but we did find a spot in a public lot. Service is quick and the waiter was very attentive, although the hostess tried to sit us "outside" with a table which is looking into the restaurant which is worse than no view before I told her no.. Food was good for the most part, we really liked one of the cheeses in the charcuterie board (saint nectaire) to the point where we went to the store to buy our own afterwards. I visited TSH on 10/10/26 for brunch. The brunch menu is extensive and full of options. I ordered the hash and eggs. The eggs are nicely poached but pretty small. You'll get a large portion of the hash which is tasty but could've used more seasoning. The dish was sort of one-note, very meaty with not much else. This dish could be improved with a couple more eggs, the use of the breakfast potatoes (with peppers and onions) and a little more béarnaise sauce. Season a little more thoroughly. The staff was attentive and accommodating to our table request with us needing a heat lamp since we were outside on the patio. We were seated at 6pm for our 5:45 reservation, and at 7:15 my friend and I were told to leave our table for another reservation. Nobody mentioned a time limit when we sat down. The octopus was chewy and the crab cakes were dry, and we'd also ordered a dozen oysters which we hadn't finished. My friend had just gotten her second glass of wine when our waiter said she could "carry it downstairs and doesn't need to chug" since we needed to move right away. There were open seats at the bar right next to us, so I still don't understand why we were pushed out and sent downstairs.
