Came here on Saturday evening and wow! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful view of Manhattan Beach![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was amazing! I didn't catch her name, but she was very helpful and explained the menu very well. Food is amazing . We had a large party of 6 and 2 kids were with us. Kids menu has a great variety of items on there. Here's what we ordered: Appetizers: Crab Cakes$34.00 1/2 Dozen Fresh Oysters$24.00 Bluefin Tuna Tostadas$29.00 Dinner: Kids Grilled Cheese$14.00 Crispy Thai Barramundi$95.00 Prime bone in Ribeye$79.00 Chilean Seabass$58.00 Short Rib$54.00 Side: Buttermilk Parker House Roll$9.00 Butter Lime Corn$16.00 Mushroom Medley$18.00 The mushroom was the only one that was mediocre. Reminded me of cream of mushroom out of a can. I would try something else instead next time.

The Strand House is one of my favorites in Manhattan Beach! Really enjoy the ambiance and view of the ocean. Our favorites are the crab cake benedict and acai bowl. Staff here is great, food excellent, and it doesn't get any better looking out at the ocean. Highly recommend next time you're in Manhattan Beach!

Food was great overall! We started with a potato frites in beef tallow and fresh oysters (regulate not minuette) we loved the fries!!! Best!!! Then our food was served 20 minutes after we seated: I had the branzino which was a Ok I've tasted better. My son had the Chilean seabass which he did not like the potatoes and k my age the fish. My son's gf had the ceviche she compared it with the local market made and said she liked the local better than what she had. Drinks were good. Reservation was at 5pm, they seated us on time. However if felt like we did not have a choice but to be seated in the patio area which got really cold & windy, out table was wobbling though they put shoppers on it still felt wobbly. It wasn't the best area to dine in. It felt like they just shoved us in there and did not even ask if we were ok with our table being out in the patio. I preferred to be inside the dining area because it looks more peaceful, comfortable and enjoyable. Overall ambience is nice, bright and airy. The patio is too tight and the guy behind me keeps hitting my chair. We dine in quick because I wasn't liking the area where we were. They could've offered us a better space. Our server was phenomenal!

Location and Atmosphere is Top Notch! The beach front vibe does not get any better. The downstairs get a view of the ocean and the pier, but not a full view of the sunset. The place is packed, even on a Tuesday. But our server was amazing and on point. She was able to deliver an excellent service. Food is great. The Lamb Chops was perfectly grilled, flavorful, moist and tender. Definitely the best Lamb Chops I've had. The brussel and bacon is a must. Price is above average, but considering the location its still a steal. Parking is a problem, metered or the lot. Best to take Uber/Lyft.

French fries were hot and both crispy and soft and you get a lot. The ketchup is house made as is the aoli which was good not great.

Location: this place doesn't get any better. Literally steps from the MB pier and the strand boardwalk. Watch the sunset after you order and are waiting for your food. Parking: Good luck! Think Times Square type vibe. There paid beach parking that's usually full, street meters also usually full and nearby parking paid, also usually full. It's hit or miss and more miss than hit! Save yourself the stress and walk there, take public transport or uber/lyft. Views: 5 for view if you can snag an up or downstairs window seat, you can see the beach, and pier but not the sunset. You gotta walk down to the beach for that. Food: 4-5 for food. The Brussels sprouts are good and a tad soggy, the French fries are a 5, the bread rolls with butter are a 5. Prices: The prices are high but that's par for the oceanfront view. Music: is a 1 at best. They need a live band or DJ. Music as horrible! Service: was good. Why come here? I'll be back with tourist guests as always. Or a nice romantic vibe night. Or maybe a work dinner or lunch.

Stopped by for dinner and drinks with my hubby and a friend this place is definitely a vibe and super close to the ocean. Best time to go is for happy hour before sunset. Our reservation wasn't until 8:30, so we hung out downstairs for about an hour first. Met a lot of people who were clearly locals and regulars, which always says a lot about a spot. Once we sat down for dinner, we ordered a few things. The bluefin tostadas are a must if you're into seafood. We also had the scallops delicious doesn't even do them justice, just wish there was more than one . My hubby ordered the lamb, which was probably our least favorite since it was a bit dry. The rigatoni though? Unbelievably good. Honestly, I'd come back and order the exact same items minus the lamb lol. Shoutout to Griffin for keeping us going all night . And the buttermilk bread? So good I almost cried. Parking is pretty easy, but definitely come early on a nice day. There are a couple of metered lots nearby with up to 5-hour parking. Fridays they've got a DJ after 9:30 PM... how swayyy See you next time!

Let's start off with make sure you have an appointment for dinner because they do tend to get busy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The views are great![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks were very tasty but they did cheap out on the alcohol. I asked for a double and it definitely was not however the bill was! The food was very bland whether it was the salmon, ribs or pasta. Decent presentation I'll give them that much but they really need to work on taste. The tuna tar tar was the best thing they had. The prices were very expensive for what you got. Lastly, the waiters need to work on their attitude. She did try to pretend like she was nice but you could tell she just wanted us to leave which got very annoying. I read some of the other reviews and people said breakfast and lunch is pretty good here so I'm not counting it out completely but for dinner never again.

Love this place. I've had dinner here multiple times over the years. The other night I was here with a group from work and as always, the food was great. The staff was attentive and accommodating to our table request with us needing a heat lamp since we were outside on the patio. We split the octopus appetizer, I had the scallops and pesto pasta, and we split the key lime dessert. One thing: [[HIGHLIGHT]]while the views are great and the place is as close to the water as you can get[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], parking sucks. There are a few public parking lots right next to the restaurant, but they're always packed. If you can Uber, you're good.

My friend and I had a vibey brunch at The Strand House. We made a 1pm reservation and I'm glad that we did because the place was completely packed. We were seated at a table right against the window with a prime ocean view. Our server, while pleasant, left us alone for long periods of time. Because he seemed to have forgotten about us, we weren't able to order for quite some time and thus received our food over an hour after arriving. We started with the crab cakes. Tasty, but not worth the cost. For my main I had the Parisian Ham and Cypress Grove Cheese Omelette. They knew what they were doing by putting Cypress Grove in the name, because I love that cheese and knew I had to order this. The plate was beautiful, the portion was large and it was all-around satisfying. This is the place to go for a more upscale experience right by the beach, and the spot to come for a lively meal with friends.

    Charcuterie board
    Jason L.

Went here for a Friday dinner, sat on the outside with a view of the ocean which is beautiful. Service is quick and the waiter was very attentive, although the hostess tried to sit us "outside" with a table which is looking into the restaurant which is worse than no view before I told her no.. Food was good for the most part, we really liked one of the cheeses in the charcuterie board (saint nectaire) to the point where we went to the store to buy our own afterwards. The scallops for the pesto pasta were cooked perfectly, tender, no rubbery/fishiness, just a vibrant rich flavor. The fideo de mare had an interesting texture due to the toasted noodles but the sauce was a little too watery which I didn't like.

If you're looking for the best sunset view in the South Bay, you can't beat Strand House in Manhattan Beach. On a beautiful California evening, this place is the total triple threat -- great food, great service, and an unbeatable atmosphere. This place is ALWAYS packed and reservations are highly recommended!!! We grabbed a table right around sunset and the view over the ocean was absolutely stunning. Watching the sun drop below the horizon while the restaurant fills with that golden coastal glow is an experience all on its own. We kept things light and shared a couple of appetizers, a salad, and a side dish, and everything was fresh and flavorful. Perfect portions for grazing while enjoying the view and a drink. The service was just as impressive -- friendly, attentive, and perfectly timed without ever feeling rushed. Between the incredible sunset, delicious food, and top-notch service, Strand House is easily one of my favorite spots in Manhattan Beach. Perfect for a date night or just soaking in a classic California sunset.

    Gorgeous View from our table!

Beautiful restaurant, impeccable service, and the food was exquisite! Whenever you are in the area this place is a must!

    Heat of Passion

The drink was definitely a heat of passion! Spicy lovers only, I substituted the mezcal with calamitous and that heat was STILL there. Crab cakes were very tasty along with their gribiche sauce. Service was okay, maybe could be a little swifter to greet once seated just to feel more welcoming.

    Are they dog friendly?

    Yes

Does the restaurant allow dogs inside?

    Nope

If I make reservation for dinner, can I just join the bar afterwards? I won't have trouble getting in?

Absolutely. Even if you don't eat you should have no problem going into the bar area. It may be busy but you should be able to order drinks and hang out. If you're ever around on a Friday night check to see who is playing. There's a band that plays…

    What is the dress code?

Brunch: casual as it's a beach town Dinner: I'd say something more dressy than an outfit with flip flops but not necessarily a cocktail dress.

If we have luggage, is there a place the restaurant can hold it for us?

Yes they can help you hold until you finish your dinner.

For the downstairs bar is it 21+ or anyone can go down there?

Hi Michelle The Strandbar is 21 & over on Friday’s and Saturday’s beginning at 9 pm. It may be subject to change depending on our live entertainment schedule.…

Is proof of vaccine required for dine in?

The short answer is no. We only require masks to be worn while walking around the restaurant. The current mandate for proof of vaccine is for LA City, not LA County so we are not required to check vaccination status at this time. Thanks for reaching…

Do you have any options for VEGANS? Other than salad? We went out of our way to come to this restaurant yesterday and it was a total disaster for our vegan friend. What's the deal?

What is the corkage fee? This fact is not listed on the online menu/website.

$35/Bottle. No prior-uncorked (to breathe) reds can be brought in.

Is it Handicapped accessible , how about parking space?

We are handicap accessible. Parking is a little difficult in Manhattan Beach, as we do not have our own parking lot. Parking is street and metered. We have 2 parking lots close to the restaurant - but we share it with beach goers.

Do they have happy hour? I've seen both yes and no in the reviews

We offer a Late Afternoon menu which is similar to a bar menu, but we don't have discounted prices.

The highlight of the night was definitely the drinks. We asked for something fun, and the manager surprised us with a couple of off-menu cocktails that were creative, delicious, and honestly the coolest drinks we've had in a while. They were pricey, but the presentation and quality made them worth trying. Unfortunately, the service took a turn after that. The manager disappeared for what I assume was a break, leaving a single server to cover the entire rooftop. We completely understand that things happen and it wasn't the server's fault, but we ended up waiting around an hour to an hour and a half without anyone checking on us. We wanted to order another round of drinks, but the server was constantly rushing past trying to keep up with everyone else. Eventually, we gave up, walked to the bar ourselves, paid our tab, and left. Flora has a great atmosphere, beautiful views, and some genuinely impressive cocktails. If they can improve the staffing during busy hours, this place would easily earn a higher rating from me.
