Had dinner reservations with my friends & cousin for her birthday then stayed to enjoy the silent disco. So cool! Food was tasty except the "salt & vinegar" fries ;[ (nothing salt & vinegar about them)!Servers & service were great. We were outdoor! Restrooms are small! We were able to bring & enjoy our brought-in desserts for the birthday girl.

Vista is such a vibe! My husband would tell me about the place a lot because he was a guard years before but once I finally went I see the hype! That chicken sandwich The Mai Tai(be ready it has a kick) but more importantly the staff are just truly top tier. I work really hard for my money so being able to take my family to a place with not only good food but customer service I'm Sold! Special thanks to Frankie for always making my family and everyone we bring feel welcomed. Xo The Hafoka Family

Servicable with beach views, and plenty of outdoor seating as usual so you can watch the cute dogs.

I'd give 6 stars if I could! Great service, incredible food. Always consistent. As always, loved the popcorn cauliflower and ahi crispy rice!

Food: A. Really clean healthy delicious options! Just what you need when dining on the coast in Southern California! Service: A+. Our server was super attentive, polite and friendly. They kept our water and beverage glasses full. He was patient with my slow ordering skills and even gave our pup a bowl of water! Ambiance: A+. Definitely has that happy peaceful SoCal vibe. Good 4 beach people watching. Live music is more relaxing then the crooner across the pier ;D Dietitian Dorothy's Nutrition Tip: Think outside of the menu! Order the Hearts of Palm Salad, flip the menu over and add the shrimp to it a la carte for a higher protein salad which can serve as your main entree.

Great outdoor seating and setting on the boardwalk. Alex was a great server and all the dishes were awesome!! The wings were full of flavor with a nice kick to them. The loco moco was delicious!!!

jumbo lump crab & yuzu guacamole with lavish chips = $19

3.43576 stars Vista! We had a surprisingly nice and lazy Monday lunch here. The menu is Asian inspired (?). I think. Of the appetizers that we shared, I liked the jumbo lump crab & yuzu guacamole ($19) with lavish chips best. The lavish chips aren't the only lavish thing about this dip. Who knew that guacamole and crab belong together? While the crab doesn't add a ton of flavor to the guacamole - textually it's really nice. We also ordered the katsu calamari fries + togarashi aioli ($16) which was fine, but nothing to write home about. I also shared the chicken sandwich ($18.00). The sandwich comes with a generous piece of fried chicken coated in a sticky sweet sauce that has hints of fish sauce. It also comes topped with pickled cabbage and kewpie mayo which helps mitigate the otherwise strong flavors. The first bite was fantastic, however, each subsequent bite was a little less exciting than the first. The sweet sticky sauce was a bit too much for my preference after a while. I also found the sandwich to be a little difficult to eat - proportionally too big to bite and too sticky to hold. Vista has prime beachfront view. The patio furniture, however, is a little worn and could use a little tlc. Because it's situated right next to the boardwalk, you are also subjected to solicitors - dudes trying to sell me a husky while I enjoyed my meal. In any case, I'm sure it's quite nice in the evening as you sit with a cocktail next to a fire pit. I'd come back. There's more to explore on the menu and the location is prime.

Gorgeous. The location is perfectly situated on the Hermosa pier and the Strand for people watching. The patio has various tables from romantic tables for 2, to party sized cabanas with fire tables. At first I thought it was just a bar, but then heard about the food. Their food are elevated- gorgeous creations, almost too pretty to eat. Everything we ordered was beautifully executed and perfectly seasoned, which was so unexpected for the super touristy location. Service is super beach friendly, and very attentive. High end, but absolutely worth the experience.

Casual spot with Asian-influenced flavors by the ocean. Came here for brunch with my boyfriend on a Saturday morning and got seated immediately (we had reservations beforehand, which we made online). We split the loco moco (we ordered a large, which includes an extra egg) and the palm sugar monkey bread, which was a sweet/salty Hawaiian bread with coconut on top. Sitting outside with the ocean in front was a vibe. Service was a bit standoffish but quick when we were closing out. It's good for big groups and is kid-friendly.

A nice vibe sitting in the outside area by the fireplace catching up with friends.. shared some small plates and had some drinks. Definitely enjoyed and can't wait to come again..

Extremely busy. Bar tender was curt, fast paced, not people friendly but rather just trying to fill as many orders as fast as possible. There were so many people trying to order that it took 35 min just to get our drinks. The lounge outside was comfy, had live music. If you got the sofa or picnic bench seating for a large group it was comfy but if you got a table on the side it wasn't as comfy since the seats were hard. Great view of the sunset and beach volleyball courts. Live music was great because it was live but the singing wasn't that good but more of a drunk vibe sing until your heart's content vibe. Played a lot of American dive bar songs eg. Sweet Carolina, I love rock and roll, we will we will rock you...etc. The food looked absolutely delicious especially the huli huli chicken tulips (which looked kind fried chicken glazed lollipops) , yuzu crab guacamole with puff chips, fried mochi atop tuna sushi (which was just crispy tuna sashimi rice). The hazy IPA here was delicious would 10/10 get again. The prickly pear cocktail looked beautiful and was so strong but flavor wise it was both strong and a bit too fruit juice sweet. Next time I'd get a beer but I don't regret trying and gettin the prickly pear cocktail this time. Dog friendly Meter street parking for 2 hrs

Absolutely stunning views of the beach. Our waitress was lovely. And, the salad was good! Unfortunately the guacamole was too fishy, we didn't finish it (wasn't a great balance). But definitely going again whenever i am in town.

First off they serve you fresh tortillas with salsa and honey butter and they are SO GOOD AND SO FRESH. I got the crispy taco y enchilada with chicken, and it hit the spot. Definitely good Mexican. The ambiance was great and it was a really nice spot in front of the Pier. We sat outside since it was good weather, I didn't account for the afternoon chill though once the sunset. Good thing to keep in mind when choosing outside or inside. The inside was really pretty (saw this on my way to the restroom later) so I wish I would have chosen to sit inside. Now for the food, this was really the only let down. The guacamole and chips were started with was okay, slightly bland in flavor. I got the fish tacos, my husband got the Chipotle Pollo y Hongos (listed as a house specialty), got a taco and nacho plate for my kids off the kids menu. The rice was like a green rice, super bland and dry and this came on both of the adult plates. The red rice that came with the kids food was actually better. The refried beans tasted like something that came out of a can, dry as heck and again, bland. Fish tacos were meh, fish was fishy and the slaw it comes with did not have the flavor I am usually looking for when I think fish tacos. My husband's chicken was yummy, and I wished I had gotten that instead. Only con was the dry rice and beans it comes paired with. Maybe my biggest gripe was the food not tasting authentic at all, and this Mexican girl loves her Mexican food, or maybe I just got the wrong plates. In my experience, if the basics are wrong (rice and beans) the rest has little hope. However, I must say that Dessert was amazing, I got some kind of yummy ice cream (maybe the Helado Frito?) to blow out my birthday candle. It was the silver lining for sure :) Service was great, and they were very accommodating. I felt bad telling them I hated the food but I wanted to write an honest review for those, like myself, who rely on reviews when choosing a good dinner spot.

I recently came in on a weekday before the dinner rush hour since the top floor tends to fill up QUICK. I'm a fan of their beer battered fish & chips, Korean BBQ chicken bites, and their Reuben (pleasant surprise). I've also heard the pub nachos are popular as well, but I haven't had the chance to try them. I just tried the house 'Henessey's Rita' w/Espero Blanco with blackberry puree. I've got to try the mango one later this summer! One of my favorite, underrated feat. of this restaurant is that they can give you water in a full to go cup if you ask. So if you're still a little boozy after your meal and need to walk things off, you can hydrate too.

Overall, I was not happy with this experience and I am not sure I will be returning.

If you are looking for a restaurant with a large menu, you will be disappointed. Sure, portions of La La Land were filmed here, and they have some movie memorabilia in the back of the place but they offer far more than jazz here, if that is your impression. There is rock, reggae, salsa, lots of tribute bands, and other stuff. While this may have once been purely a jazz club, I am certain the market simply won't carry (most) strictly jazz places for very long. Based on one photo I saw on the wall, this place has been around for about 76 years. That is impressive. For jazz aficionados, they offer a three hour Sunday jazz brunch (and this is the only time when folks under 21 can enter, by the way). For brunch, there are only four food items available on the menu: a breakfast burrito, avocado toast, one pancake (singular, not plural) and bacon, sausage, and eggs. Remember, you are here for the music, not the food. As for the food, my breakfast burrito was interesting. Knowing restaurants in California, it was probably cooked by a Latino gentleman but this looked like th emost Caucasian burrito of all time. It had chorizo, eggs, potatoes, and other stuff in it, and the tortilla had a nice cheesy skirt on it. It was also on the spicier side, which I enjoyed, but fair warning. I wasn't sure I was going to like it by its looks but I ate the whole thing. It was also a belly bomb and kept me satisfied for about 6 or 7 hours afterward. The avocado toast was actually very good and made with good quality bread. I thought the music was excellent. The members of the band (the John Kithcart Quartert) played their assess off and really seemed to enjoy themselves. True jazz (not that soft elevator music gunk) was popular at one time but let's face it, it is not popular anymore. Jazz certainly can be enjoyed as background music while you enjoy your one pancake but it is certainly not intended to be enjoyed that way. To fully appreciate it, you have to pay attention to it. That doesn't seem too much of an ask. After all, it is the folks on the stage who are doing the hard work. Our server was very good. She was friendly and attentive. My only experience here is with the Sunday jazz brunch so I cannot speak for the venue at any other times. At least for the Sunday brunch, whether you like jazz or not, this place is well worth a try.
