I love music, and sometimes I blast it. But this place is louder than most stadium rock concerts I have been to. Not a huge deal, but you go up to the bar and pay ahead of time if you are ordering food. Just felt off. And I guess if you need anything else, you have to go back up to the bar. No one ever asked how things were or if we needed anything else. I get I may have been about 25 years too old for this place and I don't have a cute butt. That doesn't mean I won't buy more drinks. Anyway. The food was really good though, and very reasonably priced. I wouldn't mind coming here again, but next time I will sit outside so my ears stop ringing sooner. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Tried to walk in today and was turned away because of dress code ( I was wearing sweatpants) I totally would normally understand dress code however the guy behind me... also wearing sweat pants was let in, only difference was I'm Mexican and he was white with blond hair. On 5/9/26 around 10:00 PM, I was denied entry to Sharkeez Hermosa Beach for allegedly violating the dress code because I was wearing a sweatsuit. However, I observed staff members, including Chris (security) and Cody (district manager), wearing casual clothing that appeared inconsistent with the stated dress code. Chris was wearing black swim trunks, a black shirt, and dirty Air Force 1s. Another security guard wore cargo shorts, a wrinkled white T-shirt, and dirty Vans. The inconsistency in enforcement made me feel singled out and unfairly treated. I would like clarification on the venue's dress code policy and how it is enforced. read more

we went on a Thursday night and me and my gay friend went in and some guy started mocking him in a rude way and we were upset obviously so we started saying something back to him and then, for some reason, the bartenders started acting like we were the problem. I just thought it was kind of weird and then we left and we went to Tower 12, which is across the way from Sharkey's and they also would not let us back in because of what happened because apparently they were talking to each other with their earpieces. But anyways, I think they're homophobic and it was really weird what happened to us read more

I've been considering not leaving a review, however... we are All here to share honest feedback regarding our personal experiences. Parking limited and tight if you arrive to the area late and who knows, if you park a block away... just get your steps in a make it work. Beverages and food was ok nothing to write about. I ordered the Cheesy Hawaiian Burger--a juicy patty layered with grilled pineapple, applewood-smoked bacon, queso sauce, pepper jack, caramelized onions, tropical teriyaki glaze, and garlic aioli on toasted King's Hawaiian bread--and it hit the sweet-savory balance perfectly. For the shareable, I went with the Nachos De Queso (I added shredded beef). The base comes topped with hand-mashed black beans, queso blanco, jalapeños, crema, pico de gallo, and guacamole, and the chips stayed crisp. So im sitting at baja sharkees and i watched abother server drop one chicken wing no big deal right? Wrong! Patrick F ( lets clap for this hero) saw this injustice brought it to the pther server attention and made sure the wing was replaced with a fresh wing. I respect this so much. Didnt cheat the customer didnt shame the server just made it it right. I cant wait to continue coming to baja sharkees for patick f top teir service and professionalism! This establishment racially discriminated my party and me (a group of latinos). We were told a cover charge was required for entrance--although no signage stated so. Upon entrance, our party noticed other guests were not being charged who entered after us. We left upset and on the way out asked the lady at the register why we were charged when others weren't, and her excuse was she didn't notice the other guests going on as she was "looking down." She told us to talk to the security who checks ID's. When we questioned the security, he brought his manager. Once the manager arrived, he alleged that they do not charge "locals" who live in the area--meaning only white people who predominantly live in the beach city. The manager didn't even try to listen to us or seek to understand, so our party left. We will never be returning to this bar moving forward. read more

Exceptional service provided at this location by the large in charge Cody. It was a super busy weekend last time we attended and the line out front was getting pretty hectic. Did not get a chance to patronize this establishment, upon walking up I was met with a message of racism. This place is on the beach and people had on relaxed attire.. I had on a sweatsuit. I was told that isn't allowed... mind you this isn't posted anywhere. But worst of all there was a Caucasian lady/girl that was sitting right by the entrance with a .... sweatsuit same color as mine and all.. but mine wasn't allowed. Perfect stop for Sunday brunch. Do I remember what I ate? NOPE Were the drinks good? Hell yeah We visited a friend who lives in the area. This is the spot he suggested because he wanted to drink, but we wanted to make sure there were food options for us girls who were hungry. This place felt extremely discriminatory. The bouncer appeared to only charge a cover to Hispanic or brown guests. There was 5$ cover, and we could clearly see people coming in. What we noticed was that white guests were being let in for free, while Hispanic guests were being asked to pay. What kind of policy is that? I asked the server / hostess why were certain people being charged and not others. She then said she may have let people in but she wasn't sure. Honestly, it wasn't about the $5 -- it was about the principle. Seeing people treated differently based on how they look is upsetting and unacceptable. It's disappointing that discrimination like this still happens. I would avoid coming to this bar. read more

Terrible, terrible. Bouncer at the door was checking my ID and questioned if it was me. I said it was & he said "damn what happened". Extremely rude & upsetting. The interior is neat and clean. There are various types of seating (bar; table; booth; high-tops; communal), and plenty of screens to watch sports. On this occasion, I ordered the Tavern Fish & Chips ($22). It is described as "Alaskan cod coated in a tempura beer batter and served with French fries, tartar sauce and yuzu herb coleslaw". The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. (See photo shared,) And while the price was not unreasonable, feel it's creeping towards expensive (relative to serving size). I'll attribute this to rising input costs. Staffing might be an issue during the lunchtime service. Service was okay, but they seemed to be understaffed. It's possible that most of their business is done after 5pm.
