I decided to enjoy my 3 day weekend with a stop at El Torito's Redondo again on Saturday May 23rd. I must say it does not disappoint . The standout this time was absolutely the Bartender Edward !! It was pretty busy in the bar area and he handled everyone's food and drink requests with a great smile and efficiency ! This guy deserves a huge raise not once during this what appeared to be an overwhelming time did I see him sweat although I'm sure he was. Haha Big thank you to management for keeping such a hardworking indivdual who cares about service, also thank you to Edward for single handedly making our 3-day weekend quite lovely. read more

This restaurant is in Redondo Pier upstairs and has views of the ocean. We had a party of 7. We were seated promptly server came by promptly to greet us but took a little while for him to come by and get drink orders. Chips and salsa were brought out which was yummy. I ordered the shrimp and crab enchiladas with rice snd beans, 10/10. We also had table side guacamole which I thought was just okay. But everyone reported their food was good. All food came out hot and fresh. While service was a little slow the restaurant was packed however, in addition our server didn't check on us as often we would have liked to. Had to ask for drink refills etc, so taking off a couple stars. Service is everything. Otherwise this place is a must try. read more

Rude waiter. A friend and I visited on 4/22/26 in the 6pm hour. We asked for our own chips and salsa each. Server gave us that. Waiter takes a while to first talk to us. Weren't ready and asked for water. Was told carbonated water isn't free. Only greedy restaurants charge for that in my opinion. Next he disappears for nearly 15 minutes. I have a hard time finding anyone to help. He finally returns with water we were waiting on and to take order. He claimed busyness despite several customers having left and no new ones entering. He then admonished us for requesting or own chips and salsa. Excuse me! We're waiting a long time and this rude guy with a bad attitude gets snide. Also the plates are nearly $20-30. We left. I'm not going to order from a waiter who takes an excessively long time then behaves in a way that felt rude. read more

Oh El Torito - RB, how I love dining here! First of all, can we talk about the views while you're eating. I'd say by the window, you get to see Redondo Beach visitors enjoying their time in the water. I have always loved the food here; their Sunday Brunch is awesome and personally worth it for me. Everyone is amazing and friendly, I've never had a bad experience here. I'll NEVER stop frequenting El Torito RB as I live 5 minutes away. This review is just for the brunch buffet and not the restaurant's regular menu. On Sunday around 11:30-12:30 the restaurant was super noisy and crowded with a 30-45 minute wait. We opted to sit at the bar by the buffet to avoid waiting. The bartender who served us was very hard working and busy, but gave us excellent service. The items in the buffet may vary by location. At this location they had some traditional American items, a made to order omelet bar, a made to order taco bar, Mexican drink area, traditional Mexican food area, and a very limited dessert area. While it seemed like bottomless mimosas were included in the buffet no one offered these to us. Furthermore, while we thought that in the past and at other locations pancakes, waffles, and French toast were part of the brunch buffet, these were not in the buffet area st this location. However, we saw some people eating these after waiting a very long time for them. So we were unsure if they were part of the buffet but you had to special order them because no one offered us these items that used to just be out in the buffet area. There is a nice view of the beach and ocean from the restaurant since it is on the second story of the pier. Of course you get a better view at a window seat, but you can see the view from the bar. There is a parking structure and a metered lot nearby. Being locals we know that you can park for free for unlimited time in the surrounding neighborhood and walk and that is what we did. The walk if a bit far, but has nice scenery along the beach. The best item in the buffet was the made to order omelet. Second best were the beef tacos and American sausage--kind of disappointing for a Mexican brunch. Also, they only have Pepsi products and we are Coke fans. Must have Diet Coke with Mexican food if not drinking alcohol or sometimes both! There are restrooms at the inside front of the restaurant, which is very important in this tourist area--better than the nearby public restrooms. On the whole, we might try ET's brunch buffet at another location to see if items and quality vary. However, we probably would not come back to this location unless it was to try their happy hour to see how that compares to other ET locations. Really only eat here for the brunch buffet if you are a tourist and really want the view. read more

Went here to watch a game of the World Cup. The manager and the bar staff were super chill. There was a mix up with the happy hour menu but regardless we got a bunch of food. Main focus was surprisingly the flautas. They are really good! Everything else was subpar compared to legit mexican food but hey, you can watch the game, drink, and get a view of the ocean all at once. Again, the staff are happy and quick to help. Historical reference... hadn't visited this locale for years. Like pre-pandemic type years... That said, it was a darn good experience! Visited with the wifey, son-in-law, one of my granddaughters and one of my grandsons while my daughter attended a company function at Kinkades. Service was spot on... very attentive and uber friendly. Patronage was mid level but the weather may have played a huge role in that regard. Food was very tasty as I got the rib eye tacos. Speaking of which, while very tasty, their price was a tad high given the amount of "rib eye" that was inserted therein. Good but "minimal" from a rib eye standpoint. On to the beverages... I got a pair of cucumber/ jalapeño margs and they were delish. Only problem was that based on size alone, I could have had 8 and still passed a B/A test from local authorities. We arrived with a party of 7. The host was nice, but you could see she was terrified , most likely she was new. Our server did not great is for 10 minutes. When he finally came he seemed rush and wanted us to hurry up and order, but we were not ready. Our food was very disappointing, cold and the steak we ordered off the kids menu was overcooked and not edible. Server dropped off drinks and then could not be found. Asked for extra napkins, never received them. Had to get up and ask the hostess, of course she had no clue where to get them. She spoke to a man who seemed to be the manager, he handed her napkins. I got their Macho Combo, which is supposed to be a serving of their most popular entrees; A chili relleno, an enchilada, a tamale and a taco. I wouldn't reorder any of them as an entree. Look, I'm a big man who loves food and never missed a meal and I left most of my meal uneaten. The chips were good, and we were in a group that ordered guacamole, queso dip and of course, salsa, so we went through some chips, and for some reason half of every basket were crushed. My husband and I just tried the Sunday brunch at El Torito in Redondo Beach for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised. When we arrived the lady that greeted us was friendly with a big smile as we walked in. She said since we did not have a reservation it would be a 40 minute wait or we could eat at the bar. We are ate at the bar. I like how they have the stations spread out so each station is easy to get to but not over crowded. I had a green enchilada, egg white omelette, mini waffle with syrup and a plantain. and fresh fruit and salad and a sope. Everything was good except for 1. The fresh fruit was not sweet at all & 2. The sope was too greasy so I did not eat it. My husband had ceviche, 2 kinds of enchiladas, salad, carne asada, chile verde, rice and beans. The bartenders consistently checked to make sure we were good, quickly removing any dirty plates. They really keep the bar area clean. The mimosas were flowing as well. They start you off with a glass and a small pitcher of orange juice. They make their rounds to refill your champagne consistently. Overall we enjoyed it. Came in on a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. We were told it would be about 15min wait but we were actually seated much sooner than that. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were good. It was 6 of us and everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. Only one complaint tho, when we ordered appetizers our waitress brought us extra plates, in between all them plates there was a huge red hair in there. I looked around, and found the culprit. She had very long red hair in a pony tail. I would assume hair out like that wouldn't be acceptable, at least put it in a bun.. idk.. all I know is hair that long is bound to get in someone's food!!! I did come across another review that stated there was a hair in their food too!!! We told our waitress and she brought us new plates. Also, I guess the manager, did check up on us and I could see him checking up on almost all tables to make sure everything was going great. Ambiance is okay, the views are great tho!!! We had a mini family reunion for close to 30 people ranging in age from toddlers to folks in their 80s. Our out of town family who requested a location near the beach and also wanted to see "a pier" were treated to all that and more, with a beautiful sunset, delicious food, and great staff. I hadn't been to this location in years and was pleasantly surprise at how beautiful the inside has been redesigned. We did an event package and then had people open their own tabs for alcoholic drinks. Our waitress Dawn was amazing! She balanced everything so well. She's a pro. She was kind, efficient, and had a great sense of humor. Everyone enjoyed the food, drinks, and ambiance. Great place for good food and great views. This location has been around for years. Love the chips and salsa and the side salad with the cilantro dressing. Use to go here as a kid for family birthdays for grandparents and such. When we went it wasn't that busy and it was nice time with the in-laws. Parking is in the pier parking structure and there is a fee. Before or after dinner take a stroll around the pier. read more

I took a chance on this chain restaurant on the pier, and I'm glad I did because it happened to be happy hour from 3pm-9pm, and the appetizers were very reasonable along with drink specials. The happy hour appetizers were surprisingly delicious for the price also the chips & salsa were complimentary. El Torito didn't disappoint this time around with a great happy hour and a beautiful view of the beach as the sun went down over the ocean. I haven't been here in a while. But I decided to give it another go since I was in the area. The ambience is friendly and very family oriented. They play light Mexican music and they have some Football games at the bar up front. Our server was Ana and she was amazing. She is very kind and lovely I liked her. She was attentive and communicated well. She speaks Spanish as well. Now for the food we ordered Fajitas with Chicken and Asada. Which was enough to fill one person but the quality in the meat was pretty weak. But I guess you get what you pay for. Lol Anyway the reason we came in was for some margaritas which of course delivered. Tried the Hibiscus and it wasn't as good. Tried the Jalapeño cucumber and that was decent. But the one that took the cake was the one they call "El Dueño" which was what we should have ordered to begin with. Not sure if they have a happy hour. When we got the bill, there was a surprise sub charge of $2 dollars. They said this restaurant charges it. They refused to remove it. He was our server last year, and we were lucky enough to get him again this year -- and once again, he went above and beyond in every way. From the moment we sat down, Andrew made us feel genuinely welcome. He remembered us, treated us like family, and stayed on top of everything without ever making us feel rushed. His energy is positive, his professionalism is on point, and he has that rare talent of making the whole dining experience feel special. Our drinks were always full, the food came out perfectly timed, and he checked in at all the right moments. You can tell he takes pride in what he does, and it shows in the way he talks to guests, answers questions, and makes sure everything is perfect. I called first to find out if the taco Tuesday is ongoing and I was told yes. When I got there, the manager told me it only for dine-in. So I asked is there a way to order the same food and he said no, I have to order what's on the menu for take out. I ordered the taco trio with steak and chicken taco and a side of chicken and carnitas ala carte. The chicken taste like it just got unfrozen and the steak and carnitas was very salty. The beans was VERY SALTY and there's no sauce, it's dry. Why does the food here very salty all of a sudden? We love this place but the service and food taste has gone really bad. read more

I did order a root beer and a margarita I got the margarita but not the root beer but that was okay the service was very good and very kind I was seated immediately tho to order took 25 minutes but that's okay. Let me tell you, i havent been to El Torito in probably over 10 or 15 years, maybe more. Ive been to a few locations and this one at least twice and after coming back after all that time away i am damn surprised. Im do suprised im mad about it. So im there for the brunch, I didnt think too much of it but my mission was only to come and have 3 minosas. So i hit the buffet and grab some breakfast items, come back to my seat and mimosa waiting for me, cool. I came to the end of finishing my breakfast and i was brought churro pancakes. I didnt ask for them. Why were they so delicious? My plan was to go have some enchiladas and some other goodies but they pancakes i am assuming to stop me from going back. So i had to force myself to stop eating them 3/4 of the way in so i can go get the other goodies i wanted. So i sit down and Mr. Mimosa comes back and refills my glass. I didnt ask but hey number 2. Then another as i was finishing my meal. 3 and im happy, full and kinda buzzed. Great service, food tasted better than i remember and a good view of the beach.
