Sadly it is hard to find very good Mexican with complex and well spiced flavors in the South Bay. Best place I've ever had is on the Canadian border in WA, when living in WA for two years, funny enough but wrong border. Been trying to find places comparable to it but been failing. Even San Diego didn't compare. Happily, we finally found something local, in the South Bay, that is almost as good 9.5 out of 10, the best you will find in the area. One of my favorite birria spots in the area! They give large, generous portions and everything is so flavorful. My husband tried their chilaquiles this time and absolutely loved it. Let me start with telling you about their carnitas burrito. It is one of the best in town. All of their food is great and we love the sauces. We did pick up this time and it was so easy to heat up. Their enchiladas are great as are their rice and beans. The service is so kind and friendly and they are fast. It does not matter if you are eating there or calling with an order. They get it right the first time and it is always so good. The place is just adorable. It is small, but kept clean and it seems a lad older, but inside you are comfortable and happy. You can also have it delivered. And you can order on line. What more could you want. It is a happy place, with happy staff and nice customers. Stopped by for a quick bite. There is parking in the back. Order first and then sit down. People were super nice. I had the sope and taco omg the salsa was spicy for me maybe not for others. I loved the sope. The taco i would have preferred the chicken cooked differently maybe like on the grill or griddle but my tacos chicken looked like fajitas chicken. I like fajitas so it was okay too . Prices were pretty good as well i ordered the asada sope the chicken taco and a water bottle and was like $10 pretty good for lunch prices. read more

Food came out pretty fast, good customer service, parking available in rear. Let me tell you about the carnitas burrito, omg. So frickin good, I've never had a carnitas burrito like that ever and my whole table was impressed. The shrimp burrito was good, I usually go for green sauce instead of red because it's less spicy, that was not the case today it wasn't anything uncomfortable until about half way with the hot burrito and spice building up. I eat here often and always have a good experience. I actually go to El Otro Amigo even more, but both places are great. El Amigo #3 replaced a spot called La Cocina, and it's way better now. I've had a lot of different items from the menu and you really can't go wrong with anything here. The pastor is excellent, and the pescado soup is perfect on a cold day. One of these days, I will have to go to the restaurant and try it in person. But I have ordered delivery from the restaurant several times and it is consistently good! I consider myself picky when it comes to Mexican food from growing up in San Diego, but I have really enjoyed what I ordered from this restaurant. This time it was two chili rellenos, that came with rice and beans, and I ordered a shrimp taco just because I wanted to try it! I started with the shrimp taco and it was huge! Plus, I loved all the fresh veggies cut up with the radish and cabbage! Then I tore into the chili rellenos that were just oozing with white cheese! They were both good size and had a light delicious batter on them. Because I had the tortillas, I would wrap them up in the tortillas with rice and beans to eat them. I think next time I will save the taco and tortillas and enjoy them on their own later because it just made me way too full, but I could not help myself and ate the whole thing anyway. I did save some of the rice and beans to eat with the chips the next day. I am already craving the food and will go in soon! read more

The food is fine but the service was horrible this time. I asked for an extra salsa which is usually never a problem. The guys said no and said it would cost an extra dollar. I got this order to go and felt like he needed a lesson in customer service. That's why people don't tip you. Tips are an extra and shouldn't be expected especially for a to go order. Had the wet burrito. I got the green salsa bc the red one tastes like the Mexican soup fideo and wasn't my vibe. The meat in the burrito was cut into big chunks. Did this as a Grubhub order. The food was delivered in decent time. They remembered the utensils which many do not. That alone is a plus. I started with a chili rellano combo with beans and rice. The rellano was well done with a flavorful sauce. I then added a taco which had a great tasting meat. I also added the grilled fish taco with its come back sauce. Probably my favorite of all the items. The fish was prepared well and the sauce had me sold. I added a horchata to drink. They threw in two bags of chips with some really good salsa. The total bill including the delivery and tip was just above $30. I found this to be very reasonable for being in the Los Angeles area. I hope to try again when back in the area. read more

WOW! Decided to try this place out when passing by & was super hungry! Was not expecting the portions to be this big for how much it costs! They put so much meat on their tacos!! This place sucks. They will not give you water. You have to buy their bottled water. Unfortunately, the bottled water is the poorest quality and the bottle itself is so soft and flimsy that you are consuming a lot of toxins (BPA). Also, they only give you one serving of salsa with your order. If you want more salsa, you would have to pay $1 for it. No bueno. I hate that they nickel and dime you for things that should be provided complimentary like other Mexican restaurants. read more

The good: They have an indoor and outdoor dining area. We sat in a booth and enjoyed the fun Mexican decor and the view of the TV. The worker was quick and friendly. He made good recommendations for what I could order for my toddlers. We ended up getting a cheese quesadilla that was GIANT. They have their own small private parking lot. The prices were fair. The portion sizes were large. We got free chips and salsa. I got a combo plate and a wet burrito as well. The bad: The horchata was too sweet. I didn't care for the smoky flavor of the red sauce on the burrito but I think others might like it. The food was good but wasn't particularly memorable for me. How did this place ever get 4 and half stars? Damn, don't even get a class of water, what the hell? Brother wanted ground beef enchiladas, nope no ground beef. Ended up with pastor which wasn't great. He also had a chicken taco, said it was almost flavorless. I had the chili relleno plate. Fair relleno, sauce wasn't the best. Rice and beans were okay. The large plate is my taquito platter, the plate off to the side was all the lettuce I took off of the taquito platter. waaaaaaay too much lettuce which is prob why it cost $15 for 3 and beans. I wish I could say they were worth it, but they had a little no flavor. The only flavor was the gross dark red salsa that was put at the bottom that was not listed on the menu or I would've never got it. Taco was good. Beans were good. Complementary chips were good. Wish I could say more was good:/ the ambience is gorgeous. My bf prefers ground beef and El Amigo does not carry ground beef, too bad because this is closer to where we live. Unfortunately, they don't have fountain water so you would have to purchase bottled water. A bit of plus, they give free chips and salsa. Order first then they take your food to the table. Booth seating limited out front and they have some seating out back. It's a casual place, not a huge restaurant to seat 17ppl lol. Service is ok, they are not like Leo's which I wish was still open. Tried this place for the first time and ordered takeout. I had one chicken taco, one birria taco, and one asada taco and it was all delicious. My favorite was the asada! They were good portions and delicious. My husband had the taquito plate and he enjoyed it as well. Overall the food was great and the service was great. WOW! I have never written a yelp review in my life but this place was SO GOOD that I had to download the yelp app just to write one. This place was hands down the absolute best mexican food my husband and I have ever had in our entire lives. Not only were the prices less than any other place around, but the portions were HUGE. Good priced and very generously filled plates, the food was absolutely phenomenal. Seasoned perfectly and tasted delicious. Seriously the best food ever. The service was also absolutely phenomenal. The gentleman who took our order was smiling and seemed so happy to be there. He was so nice! I wish we caught his name but he had braces. The chef also was so nice and came to talk to us after we were done with our food. Everyone was just so nice and we loved absolutely everything about this place.
