My cousin was visiting from Florida, so we came here for dinner. Her headquarters for work is in El Segundo, which worked out perfectly! It turned into such a sweet, memorable night. Since it's only minutes from my daughter's office, she was able to join us too. My cousin is a March baby, but we still had to celebrate her birthday! This time, we decided to sit on the patio, and I'm so glad we did. I knew we were going to be deep in conversation, so I asked if we could have one of their nicest, quieter tables and they delivered. It was lovely, with a nice breeze and much more peaceful than sitting inside. The food was to me satisfying. I ordered the two-item combo (beef hard shell taco + chicken enchilada) with rice and beans, so satisfying. They also start you off with complimentary chips, salsa, and beans, which were delicious. My daughter's camarones had HUGE shrimp, and my cousin loved her chicken and asada tacos. Drinks were just as yummy; a lemon drop for me and a pineapple margarita for her. We mentioned it was my cousin's birthday, and the staff kindly helped us celebrate with a belated cake, which was such a nice touch. We ended with churros and flan (both amazing), and of course took leftovers home. Great food, great service, and such a special night. Thank you for a wonderful Ladies night, we'll definitely be back!

The food was very delicious. Our server and the entire staff were very attentive and kind. We had the guacamole, potato taquitos, short rib enchiladas, and camarones. We sat outside and by a heater. We had a reservation at 6:30, but didn't get seated until 6:45pm- that is our only complaint. I believe they were understaffed but they did a great job with the circumstances!

Let me start off by saying this - the customer service and staff in this place are EXCEPTIONAL, I was in Awh" the whole time I was here, staff moves fast in coordination, food was ready in no time, and I have to say; I just haven't seen such service anywhere. The place is busy, and lively, I would recommend doing a reservation in advanced to skip the line. Secondly - food is PHENOMENAL *chefs kiss* everything was filled with flavor and not one dish disappoint. We will be coming back. P.s beans here are like crackk, we couldn't stop eating them either.

So good! Large portions, friendly servers, cute indoor space and ample patio space. The outdoor area reminds me of the best of Covid dining:) like they added a patio space in the front of their building and never broke it down. They do have nice outdoor lights and plants, heaters too! Everything I've tried has been generally good, but best dishes IMO: Pollo Serrano (a bit spicy) and Chimichanga (huge! Like 2-3 servings huge).

Caló is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants down here in the South Bay. It's definitely a "treat yourself" kind of restaurant though, as it's pricier/more upscale compared to your typical Mexican restaurants. They're definitely aiming for fancy rather than homey. That being said, the vibes are excellent, with Mexican music playing over the speakers and warm mood lighting; the servers are exceptionally friendly and attentive; and the flavors of the food are nice and bold. The beans here are like crack, I could *not* stop eating them. And the short rib enchiladas were equally amazing, I wish I had more! Desserts are for some reason not listed on the menu, but when my family and I went for my mom's birthday, there was a choice between: churros, flan, fried ice cream, and tres leches. We chose the tres leches, which was everything I could've hoped for in this dessert, and we inhaled it before I remembered to even get a picture! Nice and sweet, soaked in milk, and dusted with a good layer of cinnamon. Overall, Caló is a strong choice for anyone looking for a fancy meal with great ambiance and amazing service.

Holy cow, everything that came out was so good. Too favorites are the shrimp taquitos and the chips and salsa and beans they bring to the table. The tequila honeybee is one of the best drinks I've had and would highly recommend!

Three Item Combo, chili realano tamale, taco

Service was top notch, food was very good, had the three item combo with chili realano, tamale, taco. Tamale and taco were excellent, chili realano could have used just a little more time in the oven, the chili was just a little bit underdone. Party of 5 in the outdoor patio. Seating was very comfortable. Nice spot for lunch or dinner. Entrees average about $30 each. Lunch for a party of 5 with tax and tip was right at $220.

This used to be one of my favorite places to go. I'm not sure if there's new staff or management but the service and food was subpar. To start the host was not friendly whatsoever. Our wait time kept getting shifted and ended up waiting for about an hour. They sat us down and didnt bother to sweep under our table that had food all over. I had to ask for them to sweep. Our waitress was trying to be nice but it felt like she didn't want us there. I had the short rib enchiladas that were not as great as people had reviewed. In the past we had a manager apologize & gave us a gift card since the kitchen took so long for our food. This time we never got an apology for anything or acknowledgement. To make things worse I ended up with a stomach ache throughout the night. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Several hearts on my plate I had the chicken flautas.

Our speakers group came for lunch. There was about 20 of us for 1 waitress. The service was slow, however, she did great considering. She didn't mess up on any of our orders. That's a plus. The food was good, I specially loved the black beans, salsa and chips.

Caló is still going strong always love coming here. the ambiance is unmatched, so cozy and the staff always looks so professional. This visit I had the mezcal drink with tamarind and valentina hot sauce, shrimp taquitos, ribeye tacos, chips with salsa beans and guac and for a dessert later on tres leches cake. the tres leches lives rent free in my head ‍

Calo Kitchen in El Segundo is one of our absolute favorites and this team luncheon visit reminded me exactly why. The good energy started early. A couple of my coworkers had just been at the Beyonce concert and the vibes were high walking in. I went with my go-to, the fajitas, and they hit the way they always do. Others at the table had burritos and the shrimp enchiladas and everyone left happy. The general manager was on the floor and personally came over to greet us. She even remembered me from when my book first came out, and that kind of genuine hospitality is what keeps people coming back. Excellent service, fresh food, great flavors, and a wonderful atmosphere inside and out. I prefer sitting inside but either way you are in good hands. Calo Kitchen is consistently delivering at a high level.

The Fajitas Avocado Salad was delicious! I added protein of chicken, that made it more filling. The Salad could definitely feed two people. The taste was great, there were adequate amounts of sweet, tangy and the grilled chicken added a nice fire roasted effect. The service was great, it was a little busy but not a bother as I was attended to quickly. Ambiance was a somewhat romantic and casual setting at the same time. You could come with a couple of friends and have seating on the patio which has a larger area in my opinion. The menu has plenty to choose from and didn't skimp on portion size. Only thing I didn't care for was the placement of my seat that was available. I was seated at a table for 4 that was right near the walkway. Meaning people constantly passing over and near where I was seated. The only other available seat was at the bar which I didn't care to sit at since I choose not to have a alcoholic beverage. If you do try Caló go hungry!

Haven't been here in a while and it was definitely just as good as I remembered. Chips, salsa and warm bean dip will always be a winner! Service was spectacular from Crystal. She really was a gem and extremely helpful and attentive. Tried the Beef queso tacos (birria) appetizer and they were quite tasty. Comes with 5-MINI tacos for $28. Based on the taste, I would definitely get them again. Price point wise...I don't think it was worth it. Also decided to share the Smokey Ceasar salad (with ribeye on top.) We were not pleased with this. It was just all wrong. The salad was flimsy and so was the steak. It looked good and based on the description, I thought that it would be full of flavor. It was not! Steak was also kinda rubbery and looked low quality. No one in the party finished it. This also was not cheap, so it was disappointing not to be able to finish it. As far as cocktails go, they don't miss here. The blackberry margaritas are the best I've had. Although it appears that the prices may have gone up slightly since my last visit, the food & drinks are overall good. I'll just stay away from the salads. Two cocktails each, two appetizers and a shareable salad (that we didn't eat), was $200 (pre-tip). A little hefty, so this is definitely a once in a while treat.
