Came to 21 Square after 9pm with three very hungry kids, my husband and I. We were promptly greeted and seated, the server Brandon was very attentive and never let our water cups go empty. My husband got a White Russian as well as chicken nachos, both of which he thoroughly enjoyed, my son got the kids Mac and cheese (it was delicious btw), my daughter and I each got the grilled beef kalbi, and I got a side of mashed potatoes for my toddler. The beef kalbi was so good, the flavors and the cuts of short rib were perfect, my 9 year old ended up eating most of my daughters and some of mine, he said he gives it a 100/10 (must've been great!). We also ordered each one of their three desserts, the churros were fantastic, but watch out for the caramel inside, it was HOT! Next time I hope to get seating by the fire pits outside. My family and I spent our family's Thanksgiving lunch at 21 Square, and it was such a great experience! The 3-course with wine/champagne offer was a great deal, the food was delicious with a huge serving, and everyone had a wonderful time. Our server Dan was the BEST! I first discovered 21 Square Bar and Kitchen a few years back thanks to a Yelp event. I then got to try it out again for brunch with a friend and then for Thanksgiving brunch a few years later. Fast forward four years later; I am back and this time for dineLA. I happy to say this was one of the best dineLA 2022 meals I had. Their dineLA menu for lunch was $35 and consisted of a 3 course meal with choice of starter, entree and dessert. For starters the choices were Shrimp Ceviche Tostada, Squash Blossom Empanada and BBQ Pork Sliders. For the entrees choices were Furikake Crusted Local Fish, Adobo Braised Lamb Shank and Roasted Butternut Squash. Dessert was Cinnamon Churros. For the starters we got the Squash Blossom Empanada and BBQ Pork Sliders. The Squash Blossom Empanada was good but the BBQ Pork Sliders were phenomenal. The pork belly was so tender and even had a slight crisp it too. As for the entrees; my mom got the Furikake Crusted Local Fish and I got the Adobo Braised Lamb Shank. The Adobo Braised Lamb Shank was great. I don't get lamb too often as I know it has to get cooked just right. I am happy to say that they cook lamb here really well. There was no aftertaste at all. The lamb was also perfectly tender and I loved the additional crispy texture that the shallots gave. Last but not least was the Cinnamon Churros. Ooh I love churros and these churros definitely made me go "ooooh." They were filled with caramel! They were perfectly sweet and delicious. I was looking for a local DineLA spot and found 21 Square Bar + Kitchen which I wasn't familiar with. I was pleasantly surprised! Parking-wise, I wasn't quite sure if the restaurant validated hotel parking, so just parked across the street at the mall. 21 Square Bar + Kitchen can found going into the lobby and to the left side. It has big open doors to a nice patio area and a big bar area with a few tables. The bartenders were super nice and chill. Going into the DineLA menu, here's what I got: *Shrimp Ceviche Tostada: The presentation of the food on this was a little off and the tostada itself didn't look fresh (apologies if I'm wrong!), but the shrimp ceviche itself was delicious. Refreshing and was a great start. *Adobo Braised Lamb Shank: Also surprisingly solid. The plating on this was better than the ceviche and the polenta base was good. The lamb was a little salty but overall just went well with the polenta. Loved the contrast. *Cinnamon Churros: Again, the presentation itself wasn't spectacular, but the flavor was terrific. Bite into one of these churros and find a good amount of caramel overflowing. It's so good. *Local Red Ale: Super solid and delicious! I think the pricing / plating can be a little better overall, but think there's promise. A solid 3 1/2 star place that I don't mind teetering to 4 stars. read more

The experience at this restaurant was overall good with no complaints hence 4 stars. We were staying at the hotel that this restaurant is located in, for work travel and extended get away. It was convenient for late returns to the hotel to grab a bite to eat and beverages to drink. The restaurant was indoor and outdoor with a simple and relaxing vibe that extends out towards the pool. Came to the hotel in a pool pass (no outside food allowed). In other places we've found the hotel food to be edible, but not great. We were pleasantly surprised...the sandwiches were better than we expected. Got the Madrona Burger and the BLAT - both reportedly very nice (with a side comment on the bacon - thicker and crispy edges). I opted for the portobello-poblano sandwich and liked it very much. Sandwiches of a reasonable size and all came with fries. The order took a bit longer than we expected, but wasn't bad. In the to-go-back-to-the-pool bag was utensils and ket/must/mayo. read more

We eat here often and the service is a solid five stars. Everyone that works at the restaurant is great, but I especially like Jacqueline who works at breakfast service usually. The food is also quite good. They have had a few different chefs come though, and they have some great staples that we love. For dinner the herbed chicken and gravy is amazing. Why only 4 stars? The restaurant is uncomfortably cold at night due to the doors being open to the patio. The outdoor area has some nice amenities, but the tables have no light around them and are a bit too tall for the chairs and the fire pit has a knee height table around it that is awkward. So sitting outside just doesn't quite work while sitting inside is too cold because you don't have the overhead space heaters or the fire pit to keep you warm. I wish they would figure it out - make the outside more comfortable or figure out a way to warm the inside better - as the way it is now I usually get my food to go and eat in my room which is also not ideal. read more

I ate here for breakfast one morning while staying at the Torrance Marriott. This restaurant has a bar and plenty of tables. The breakfast menu had many interesting selections but I was in the mood for a breakfast burrito. I ordered Julio's breakfast burrito which is supposed to have scrambled eggs, queso fresco, chorizo, potatoes, avocado and hash browns. The burrito mostly had chorizo and avocado with hash browns on the side. The burrito was good and it was quite thick. I ate my meal with a coffee and it was good. The meal came out quick and I received good service. Good food, good service, nice place and overpriced (expect it at a hotel). Four stars! read more

This has to be another one of my favorite local bars, a modern bar and restaurant at Marriott Torrance. It's just across the street from Del Amo fashion center, we have been here a couple times for drinks. The full bar is quite nice in a very open setting, it's always packed on weekends with hotel guests and local people. The beer and cocktail menus are impressive for a neighborhood Marriott hotel, I have tried a few drinks that I really liked. The spicy Mezcal cocktail was one of the best, I liked the bourbon flight too, those are all on the stronger side of course but very tasty. Hubby likes beer and vodka martinis as usual, the bartenders here are always very friendly, most of them make strong and yummy cocktails. This restaurant and bar is right next to hotel pool area, so it's nice to hang out at the patio area during summer times. We also like to come here when it rains in winter cause the valet service saves us trouble walking in the rain. This is a very nice neighborhood bar to have some down times and relax! read more

Torrance Food Crawl #340 21 Square B+L is located in the Torrance Marriott Hotel, or perhaps I should say the Torrance Marriott Redondo Beach Hotel as it is formally named. The "21 Square" name is a reference to the size of the City of Torrance, about 21 square miles (or 54 square kilometers). The restaurant is located next to the bar, hence the + joining the bar and kitchen together. On an early Tuesday evening the bar area was about half full, apparently mostly people on business travel. The restaurant area had only a few people. There were several televisions on showing various sporting events so it can be a good location to watch sports and have drinks and meal at the same time. For a starter I had one of their flatbreads, with pesto, heirloom tomatoes, cheese, chives, and olive oil (or evoo as the menu likes to call it - extra virgin olive oil). When it first arrived it was quite good. The flatbread had a nice crunch and the cheese and tomatoes were a nice topping. Towards the end of my meal, the cheese was cold and the olive oil had soaked into the bread making it less hard. Started well, ended so-so. For an entree I had the Mahi Mahi, which was tied for highest price on the menu ($27). There was almost no taste to the fish. It wasn't so bland as to seem like a white fish but the taste was so lacking I found myself consciously searching for some fish flavor. The fish was well cooked, just disappointingly flat. The spinach underneath was fresh but average. The diced butternut squash was excellent. I wish the main feature was as good as the supporting cast. read more

The food I would rate a 3.5 to 4 stars, but the service alone deserves a 5 star rating. We were served by Keaton, who was an excellent waiter! He was kind, friendly, thorough, and honestly one of the nicest waiters I've had in a while. The food is pretty pricey, but expected when part of a hotel. For the kale/caeser salad and turkey sandwich combined, it was probably around $28-$30. The salad was tasty but had too much dressing, which as a result made it quite salty sometimes. The turkey sandwich was unexpectedly quite big, with 3 slices of bread and a hunk of turkey. It wasn't the best turkey sandwich I've had, but it was definitely bigger than I expected. I wouldn't come here as a non-guest of the hotel, because I don't think it's worth the money. However if you're in a pinch for dinner and can spare a few bucks, Keaton will make your trip worthwhile. read more

I came here with my coworkers for a quick lunch while we were hosting an event at the Marriott and I really enjoyed this place! I ordered the Mac & Cheese and it was AMAZING. Although it was a bit smaller than I thought it would be (it was listed as an appetizer), it was definitely a great meal for one person. You know those pizza commercials on TV where you see them pull up a slice of pizza to show how cheesy it is and you can see the cheese trails coming up too? That's exactly how cheesy the mac & cheese was. Super flavorful and really tasty. I also got the Roasted Brussel sprouts and they were really good too. The 21 Square Bar + Kitchen is the restaurant inside the Torrance Marriott. I had high hopes for this place but it really was just ok. The menu they currently have is nothing exciting and mostly burgers. It is not really an upscale menu in any way save the prices. The atmosphere is overall good except the hole in the ceiling on the far right of the bar. ( The lack of maintenance doesn't inspire you want to spend the big bucks for the food.) The indoor outdoor vibe is nice when cool ocean breezes blow in. The service was just ok. Contrary to what others reviewed you can't roam, play chess or look at the outside offerings as they have gated it. The real blow was the food. I ordered an entree salad and while it looked ok once you cut into it the lettuce was Pink! The cook managed to dress the salad and certainly saw the pink but served it anyway. Really just unappetizing. Some others with me had a burger or sandwich and they were just ok. The fries were not even best fast food quality so they got mostly left. The steak looked good but I didn't taste it. I'm parched and hungry at 10pm after arriving at this Marriott after a long flight from Tampa. The easiest thing to do is take the elevator, grab a table, and order the first thing that tickles my fancy. I was immediately seated and got their 21 Square-made beer, and shortly after, some fish tacos. The beer was solid. If I hadn't known it was made nearby, I would've assumed that it was a more well distributed beer. The tacos were light and tasty - definitely appreciated that the next morning. The chips weren't fresh, but c'mon, this isn't a Mexican restaurant. The main downside is price. With the company paying, along with the convenience of being just downstairs, the price makes sense. After a long two days of leadership training at this Torrance Marriott, we all met up for drinks at 21 Square Bar. I felt instant regret when I took a seat on the patio because it and the pool were gorgeous, but there wasn't more time to enjoy any of it. I sank into my chair and enjoyed the nearby heat lamp. Not in the mood to socialize, I ordered the Vintage cocktail... It felt more approachable than my usual whiskey neat. For food before my plane flight, I got an ahi tuna salad. My friend and I were the first ones at the empty restaurant, but it still took 30 minutes to get my salad. What the heck?! The wait staff seemed a little clueless too. Maybe I was tired and impatient. Perhaps I should be more forgiving towards these young men probably working their first job. They had a hard time understanding the international crowd and got nervous. Props to them for keeping their professionalism though. If I was staying at this hotel again, I think I'd just sit at the bar for some of those tasty cocktails. The Vintage was amazing so bring on the other liquors. If it weren't for the parking fee of $17, I would've given this place 4 stars. My group ordered the wings and salmon dish. Both were done nicely. Our server was also personable, which I appreciate. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the new look of the place as I hadn't dined at the Torrance Marriott since before 21 Square Bar + Kitchen was built. Back then, there was also no charge for parking with validation. To my surprise, parking is now $17 just to dine for a couple hours. I paid the fee, but later contacted the hotel and spoke with a manager about this issue. She basically told me that's how it is now. I told her that other hotels, like the Westin Long Beach, will charge $3 for validated parking, and that $17 is VERY steep - especially for Torrance! As a local, I definitely won't be returning to the Torrance Marriott for dining. Sure, I could probably park at the Del Amo Mall and walk over, but if I'm going to do that, I might as well just dine at the mall. Lazy Dog is a much better option anyway with a more extensive menu. In short, if you're a guest of the hotel, enjoy 21 Square Bar + Kitchen. If you're driving in, try either Lazy Dog at the mall, or the Doubletree Hotel on Hawthorne Boulevard where there is no charge for parking. read more

Where do I start? Came here yesterday for lunch...they weren't all that busy at all but somehow they were terribly understaffed. There was what looked like two managers on duty standing around trying to look important while two waitresses struggled to keep up with the five tables. The managers couldn't be bothered...it took us a good 5-10 min before we were seated, again while the managers stood around just watching the waitress work... Once seated it took another 20 min before we even saw our waitress, once we finally ordered the food came out in a decent amount of time. The food over all was a step above cafeteria food in both quality and presentation which was a massive disappointment...my husband had the chicken & pasta, the chicken was over cooked and super dry! We also ordered the chips with guacamole which was as you can see from the pic, was pathetic. The last time I came here was for a Yelp Elite event for their soft opening. What an absolutely lovely place nestled on the first floor of our hotel! We had the best time connecting with friends from Australia and Southern California over drinks! The spirits on hand were diverse and delicious; I indulged in a Laphroaig 10 Year that was absolutely divine! We hate wine drinkers happy with their offerings; there is an entire wall of wine behind glass showing their many labels available. There are approximately a dozen beers on tap. Sadly, seven or eight of the offerings are IPAs and there wasn't a single stout or porter in the bunch! (This drove me to opt for the Isley.) There are great offerings for food and there are vegetarian options with a creative flair. This is a wonderful place to connect with old friends, and perhaps make a few new ones in the process! read more
