I sat at the bar since it wasn't very busy, Jess was attentive and friendly. It's got inside seating but it's on the small side and the outside patio seating is dog friendly and has great views of the Village. I saved a lot with the special burger which was only $7.78 but my drink Screwball (a peanut butter whiskey) was $11.95 and she charged $2 having it on the rocks? Plenty of TVs to watch all the football! Staff was friendly and kept checking in on my group and refilling our waters and coffees. My food was good, I got a grilled cheese with sriracha fries which was very tasty and the perfect amount of spice. They opened the windows so plenty of fresh air came in which was perfect. A long over due review for me of one of my favorite South Bay haunts. Hennessey's has been around more than 50 years and there is a reason they have been a part of the SouthBay so long. Whether it's Hennessy's Manhattan, Hermosa or Redondo you'll always feel the true vibe of a local Irish pub and that you're among friends. Today after a birthday brunch we headed to Hennessey's Redondo and sat out on the patio for a few cocktails before heading into sit at the bar after the sunset. One of the best things about Hennessy is the freshly squeezed the lemons and oranges for their drinks and they also know how to pour a proper pint of Guinness, which since they do pour the black stuff frequently it's always a fresh pint that tastes more like a proper creamy stout rather than a stale metallic taste, so you always know you're in good hands at Hennessey's. The bartenders are friendly and so is the wait staff. Though for today's visit we didn't eat, you can always get a good breakfast here and a decent burger (which by the way, two for Tuesday's buy a burger get one free is a great deal)! read more

We were walking by & saw a sign for a tasting flight of margaritas for $25; regular, spicy, & watermelon. We decided to go in & were greeted by a friendly waitress. We ordered 2 flights from a different waitress... unfortunately. She wasn't very friendly & seemed almost 'put out' by helping us. The margaritas were mediocre at best, we couldn't taste or smell the tequila at all. The watermelon was WAY TOO SWEET!! The spicy wasn't spicy at all! And the regular one, was just there... We also ordered the 2-for-1 burger & they were both very tasty. I got the Irishman & my husband got the Chipotle burger. The burgers are what gave this rating a 3 vs a 1... I will definitely return, as it's a fun restaurant on St Patrick's day & the food is good, but I think I'll stick to beer or wine, as their cocktails don't have very much alcohol in them, more mixer than anything else. read more

Molly is the kind of bartender who makes you feel like you're the only person in the room--even when the bar is packed and there's a small mountain of dishes somewhere quietly filing a complaint against her. Does she always win Employee of the Month for dishwashing? Absolutely not. If dishes could leave Yelp reviews, they might have some thoughts. But people? People LOVE Molly. She has an uncanny ability to remember your name, ask how your dog is doing, and then somehow get emotionally invested in your answer. Sometimes her heart is so big that her feelings show up before the next round of drinks does. But that's exactly why everyone adores her. She's genuine, caring, and incapable of pretending not to care. As for the beer she poured me? Perfect. Crisp, cold, and delivered with enough enthusiasm to make me feel like I'd just won an award for "Most Deserving Person to Drink This Beer." Molly doesn't just serve drinks--she serves validation, friendship, and occasional emotional support. I came to Hennessy's in Redondo Beach expecting a solid plate of fish and chips. What I got instead looked like overcooked chicken tenders and tasted just as dry. The "fish" was hard, dry, and borderline burnt nothing flaky or fresh about it. Honestly, it was almost unrecognizable. The only decent parts of the meal were the fries and coleslaw, which says a lot. For a spot that should know how to do bar food right, this was a letdown. The bar has a great selection of beers and a lively, welcoming atmosphere, some location also have a live bands that just adds to the experience. We came here for dinner and the food was really a disappointment :( I think that maybe this place is a great bar but maybe not the best for food... I ordered the smoked BBQ brisket sandwich -- it's highlighted as one of the favorites on the menu. The brisket was really burnt and tough... My partner got one of the burgers and upon his first bite, he noticed that the patty was completely charred. I got chips with my brisket sandwich and I don't think the chips were seasoned at all -- no salt, nothing... That said, I do appreciate that you can order a smaller or larger size for their beers. But let's jump into the details 1- seating A- The "street" seating is a bit confusing since there's overlap with their neighboring restaurant. Pay attention to where you sit B- Outdoor seating : great for lunch. But be aware, around shift change (2 -3) the sun changes position and these seats are all in the sun. Yes, it gets hot. ((Note: yes, I have stayed that long having a few pints )) 2- beer Same great selection BUT the Guinness pour isn't quite up to the artistic level of the pier. There's no cloverleaf in the head. Molly is a lovely person but not an expert Guinness dispenser 3- food The same food as the pier. I started eating their burgers here and I've got to say they are really good! 5- the loo It's small. We've been loyal patrons of Hennessey's in Redondo Beach on Catalina for over 25 years, always enjoying the great atmosphere and food. Unfortunately, our recent visit for a family celebration was a complete DISASTER due to one particular server. Our experience started off normal, but our server (tall, thin, medium dark-haired young Caucasian woman), was shockingly dismissive and rude. She took our drink order, which arrived incorrectly, and then vanished for over 30 minutes--all while the restaurant wasn't even that busy. We tried multiple times to get her attention, waving and making eye contact, with no luck. Instead, she spent over 10 minutes chatting with a young man walking his dog while completely ignoring our attempt to get her attention to get our order. We thought maybe she wasn't our server and that is why she was ignoring us, but when we asked the incredibly helpful busboy, he confirmed that she was indeed our server. We then directly asked her to take our order, and she flat-out said, "No, I'm not your server" and walked away--without ANY attempt to assist us to see who was our actual server. No effort, just complete disregard and dismissiveness as if we were bothering her. Meanwhile, another server--a blonde, heavier-set woman--was handling the table next to us with great professionalism. She was attentive and took care of them right away, despite them arriving after us. The contrast was shocking. After wasting 35+ minutes of waiting for service, we got up and left.. Hennessey's has always been our go to spot. But service like this is unacceptable. Whether she simply hates her job or had some personal bias against us for unknown reasons, it was clear that we were intentionally ignored and dismissed by simply wanting to enjoy our family gathering at Hennesseys. I really love the atmosphere of Hennessey's. It's so relaxed and it really reminds me of a real Irish pub. I've only been a couple of times but I find myself always wanting to go back. This might have to do with the fact that while I was there they had someone playing a fiddle live. The food is pretty typical bar food, and the service is pretty good. Breakfast in a tavern was a new thing for me. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service. I had their Cap'N Crunch cereal french toast with sausage and it was DELICIOUS! I wish that I had more of the french toast. I can see why it is a favorite at Hennessey's. My libation of choice was a Salty Dog (grapefruit juice and vodka with salt on the rim). It was a good choice because the grapefruit juice was fresh. As I was munching on my breakfast, I was grooving to the music they had playing in the background. Coming to Hennessey's for breakfast was a smart choice. Plus, they were going above and beyond making sure that everything was great. I liked how they following COVID regulations. 3.5 stars, not 3. Not enough for 4, however. Meh, kind of a dumpy pub inside (probably best at night, not at Sunday brunch.) Friendly, decent service. Drinks are fine. Food? Good, not great or memorable. I ordered a burger that was fresh and tasty, but "smallish" with a cup of fries on the plate. Seemed like it was missing something? My friend ordered some kind of a pull-meat on a bun thing with fries. It all looked quite spartan on the plate. He then proceeded to order a large tamale at the famer's market about 20 minutes later.
