Muldoons never disappoints! It's hands-down one of my favorite spots, and a big reason why is the amazing service from Brooke and her twin sister Amber. They always make us feel welcome and take such great care of us every time we come in. The Banger Bites appetizer is an absolute must have, and I can never resist going back to the Shepherd's Pie easily one of the best comfort meals around. This year was way busier than last year as they held an event here as the weather was very hot so they had stuff outdoors. We got my wife a T-Shirt this year and they got beads too. I have spent 7/8 years celebrating St Pattys day here. I dont think i will be back. A large part of Irish culture is warmth, hospitality, dancing & music. Sadly this year Muldoons was an epic fail. In the past, they have had a bagpipe crew, live music and even space for dancing. This year they didnt even play music on the speakers. It was just people everywhere. They even stole the chairs from the outside tables (to allow for more customers). Nothing other than the green the patrons were wearing indicated Irish heritage let alone a Celebration of St Patrick. Its SAD. I was hoping the new owners knew Irish culture. Sadly it appears they do Not. Next year; The Harp or Malarkey's. Muldoons has lost that lovin feeling. Came here with the family the weekend before St. Patty's Day. I was probably spoiled in the Bay Area with places that did green beer and freebies for kiddos but this place did the trick when it came to staple food items. I like that this place has a courtyard if you want more light and then the usual dining area/pub ambiance (my 3 year old asked why it was so dark lol). Loved the pretzel but would have loved drinking the beers with the pretzel and the beers came after it. But the pretzel was on point for sure!! Highly recommend that one! The bangers were decent. My kids liked them. I thought they were good but a bit on the greasy side but the honey mustard was a good sauce that came with it. Got the poke and had to send it back. It was super spicy and the flavor overpowered the rest of the dish. I'm a big poke / sushi person so sadly wasn't impressed with their poke appetizer (that's what I get for trying poke at an Irish pub ha!) Got the corned beef and cabbage instead. Corned beef was good, and so were the carrots and mashed potatoes. The cabbage was pretty greasy with the bacon bits in them. Would have liked just plain cabbage. Kiddos got grilled cheese and chicken tenders and I like that it comes with fruit. Both were good. My husband got the corned beef sandwich. I had a bite and it was good but would have loved the plain boiled cabbage in there. Noella was our waitress and she was pretty good. We were celebrating a birthday and a Bon voyage so we decided to go to Muldoon's in New Port beach. My wife and I have been there before, but this time I wanted to try their fish and chips. I must say not the best fish and chips I've had. It was a bit bland and a certain part of it was soggy. My son, the birthday boy had steak frites, which was a little salty and a little tough even though it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. My guess is Muldoon's uses a choice New York strip instead of prime if they want to produce a more tender steak. read more

This is such a good pub! If you love pub culture and everything about it, this is the place for you. From the decor, to the layout of the restaurant, it is an absolute gem. (I am always tickled by restaurants with a real tree in the middle of the place.) There are a couple different dining rooms, and two different bars. (One of them isn't open throughout the day) The bar is cozy, the seating is super comfortable. They have TV's. It's just has a good feeling vibe. If you want to sit in the courtyard, it's like you're outside, while actually being inside. The food is really good. They have great options. The seafood is great. I know it's not very Irish, but even the ahi is fresh. I had the Cobb salad, and it's quite possibly the best Cobb salad I've ever had. It has olives and Swiss cheese, as well as the other mainstays of a Cobb. Our server was super attentive. She was really friendly and cool. Met up with a buddy at Muldoon's Irish Bar in Newport Beach for drinks and some early appetizers on a Wednesday, and the place was already buzzing right at 5:00, which is always a good sign. We grabbed some fries and a couple of beers off the happy hour menu. The beers were solid, and the classic half and half (half Guinness, half Harp) was a fun Irish style pour &!looks cool. We also tried the poke stack, which was very good. For something lighter, I had the Farmleigh Salad ($22) with grilled salmon, mixed greens, roasted tomatoes, dried cranberries, avocado, grilled corn, cotija cheese, and chimichurri dressing. Surprisingly hearty and really flavorful. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd hope for. Lots of dark wood, traditional Irish pub vibes, lively energy, and definitely not a quiet or boring spot. Service was excellent too. Our waitress was super friendly, attentive, and kept everything moving. Parking was a bit tight, so I had to circle around a few times before finally finding a spot. Felt like doing laps around an Irish roundabout. Food wise, it's solid pub food. Good for what it is, but don't expect fine dining or anything fancy. Great St Patrick's Day feel to this place. The waiter was super friendly and it just had a great energy. We had the corned beef and cabbage and the fish and chips. The corned beef with the Dijon sauce was decent and the cabbage was pretty good, but just not amazing. We thought the fish and chips were nice and crispy and the fries were also good. Such an awesome spot, whether it's for date night, happy hour, or even to host an event! They have an awesome outside dining area and great bar to watch any game. They host trivia on Tuesday nights at 7pm and have .89 cent wings! The staff is very friendly and their bartender, James, is the best! The bread served during dinner is SOO GOOD! Great Classic Gem of Newport Beach! Tucked away next fashion island, I had never been here even after living in OC my whole life. This place has been around for a very long time and their aesthetic definitely shows that, but in a cool and antique way. Staff is very friendly! I came with a friend on a Friday night around 9pm and had a great time in the dining room, the bar area was full. Drinks and food are very reasonably priced! Saw an Instagram post and decided to check out this restaurant as I love Irish pubs. Really nice, very homey feeling, great staff and bar tender, shout out to Jason Sat at the bar and really liked the atmosphere. Had my go to drink Tullamore D.E.W with honey on the rocks. First time at Muldoon's Irish Pub, and I have it in one of the top Irish restaurants that I have been to. This place is huge. It has pub seating, a standard dining room, outdoor dining, and a Celtic Bar. The service was great. Our service, Julian R., was great. Very kind, helpful, and approachable. We start with an order of Irish whiskey wings. For the sauce, we picked buffalo. The sauce was flavored the wings were also good, but they were on the drier side. I had the corned beef and cabbage. The coned beef was gooooood. It was so tender. Dip it in the Dijon mustard, and it's perfection. The cabbage was also delicious. I also tried one of the Irish staples, the famous shepherd's pie. It was very meaty. It was very flavorful and cooked well. Love the mash on top. For dessert, I had the bread pudding. I have to say that was my favorite beard pudding I have had in a long, long time. It was well balanced. So it was not too sweet. The ice cream was delicious. The best part was the beard. It was served straight out of the oven. For drinks, you have to get Guinness hands down. Shepherds pie, stand up on the menu lots of meat, cream, mashed potatoes, not overwhelmed by vegetables. Steak pasta was very good quality meat, but could use a bit more zing in the flavor. Loaded baked potato very done very well. Service was skilled, maybe a bit slow, but it was a busy night so no real complaint there. We stayed at the VEA Marriot which was a 10 minute walk to Muldoon's Irish Pub. We were about an hour early for our 7pm reservation so we sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks. We loved the atmosphere and ended up sitting in the courtyard which was beautiful. My husband ordered the fried chicken plate and when he received his dish it looked more like chicken fried steak but it was chicken fried chicken. He loved it and said that it was delicious! All of the staff were very attentive and friendly. There were so many restaurants to choose from in Fashion Island and we were definitely happy with our choice. Muldoon's has been a staple spot in my family for years. My favorite time to go is in the winter because they feature lots of stews, potato based pies and items that will warm you up. My personal favorite is their bangers & mash which has two great bangers, carrots, peas, and mashed potatoes with a side of heavy and an incredible warm dijon. Our server Scott made the experience extra special for my family and we hope to be seated in his area again. We sat in the bar for an early lunch and no one was there. Vanessa, the bartender and server for the luncheon crowd that day completely ignored us until we called out for our drinks. She never once asked us how we were doing, or if we needed another drink, or water, or any dessert. We had to wave her down for to go containers for our left overs. This is not only a review for Muldoon's, but also the process of having an event there. From the beginning to the start of the event, everything was simple and a quick process. All of the attendees loved the food choices; we opted for serving a variety of appetizers: Irish Whiskey Wings (BBQ and Buffalo sauce on the side), Chicken Tenders (for the kiddos), Fish Chippers, and Corned Beef Sliders as our Premium side, Everyone's favorite were the fish chippers but everything was honestly so good. We also got the Bruschetta per piece (which was perfect) and got several of the mini desserts. There was a big tossup on what everyones' favorites were because each one was so dang good. Mine was the Bread Pudding though. And of course, you can't go wrong with all of the drink offerings but we mostly stuck to Guinness! The space was a lot of fun in the courtyard. Muldoon's has been here for ages. We've passed by numerous times and never tried. We gave it a go recently. Cool classic interior. Good service. Extensive food and drink options. Solid pub vibes. Wifey got the Reuben and I went with my standard fish and chips. The Reuben was so-so. The fish was soggy and mushy to the point that I wondered if it was cooked all the way. Fries were decent. They had 805 blond on draft, a plus. Prices are reasonable for the area (Newport). If we happen to be at Fashion Island, we'd probably re-visit. I would go with something other than the fish and chips tho. read more

You can just imagine rolling hills of green grass, misty shores of white sand, and gentle sheep grazing nearby. There is fireplace and small booths, like the interior of a ship. They deliver to you some soda bread and butter as you sit down. It is kind of like food heaven. The menu is Irish for sure. Corned beef and hash, Rueben sandwiches and steaks and chicken are all there. The service is excellent. The prices are reasonable and the portions are huge. Sharing is the way to go. My wife's beef stew had no beef- all stew, my cheeseburger was made from a cow that walked the earth at the time of Christ. Even the Diet Coke tasted weird. So sad to see this one slide down hill.
