    Norwegian Halibut

After passing by this place a few times I finally gave this spot a try. Reservations were available on open table. Valet parking available. We were seated towards the back. Our server was great but very over the top for my friend. Enjoyed the spicy yellowtail app. My steak was a bit undercooked for my liking. I enjoyed the roasted garlic that came with my steak. They don't automatically give you bread so ask for it. It was nice when we first got there but then a group of ladies that were celebrating a birthday was seated next to us and it was like a bunch of cackling hens as it got loud. If I come back I would prefer to be seated by the bar. However those are first come first serve so you have to get there right when they open to get a seat

Dark and dim lighting, music was nice, friendly service. Attentive staff! Came for the pot pie , extremely delicious! It sold out by 6pm on Monday so make sure if you plan to order it, you notify your server as soon as you're seated! The Caesar salad was great, crispy capers added a nice salty crunchy component. Would definitely come back and try some other items but the pot pie is a must!

Used to go here when used to live in the neighborhood. Still the same, busy on Saturday night with packed bars and dinning area. There's valet parking or you park next door and walk over. Nice & friendly service but by the we're there, the staff is abit worn-out but still kept their professionalism. Drink is great, love the sourdough bread and the butter. The meat was abit overcooked for medium but it's alright. Somehow this time, it's abit under seasoned too. For the price, and was overcooked and under seasoned...abit disappointing but haven't been back plus great service so. Lively vibe and abit dark but enough lights for the table. Overall, nice to come back with nicely service and good foods and drink.

This is a fun spot with good service and a great location. If you get Brian, you're in luck. He's attentive, knows the menu well and will add to the experience. Drinks are good and the menu changes with the seasons. Recently I had the halibut. It was super salty and I prefer the way they made it a few months ago. Mary's Chicken sounds boring for a place like this, but it delivers. It's seasoned just right and really moist. I recommend it. The charred broccolini are good and will help you feel less guilty when you have one of their great desserts! The parking lot gets crowded, but they have valet.

The "A" restaurant here in Newport Beach, CA started off in 1925 as The Archers then shortened the name to The A; and until today I never heard of it. But our dear "local" friends took us here tonight, and I'm sure glad they did! This old school, red patent leather booth - steakhouse is doing everything right when it comes to food, price, ambience and service. The A was shockingly packed on this Monday night and now I know why; it's just so damn good, I've been to steakhouse's all over the world that couldn't compare a lick to The A. Let me run-down what us six souls packed away: * Dry Gin Martini's that were picture perfect (see pix) * A Caesar Salad done so right, I didn't have to ask for extra anchovies * Our Bone-in Rib-eye steaks were sublime * The Mushroom and asparagus sides hit the spot * Our desserts were the best way to end this fantastic meal The atmosphere was kind of Musso and Frank(ish); and that's a glowing compliment. My wife and I go to a lot of restaurants. I I told her my law of averages when going out to eat: Two restaurants will be excellent six restaurants will be good to very good Two will be mediocre to poor Rarely do you get "Stellar"! The A this night was exactly that - Stellar!

Great ambiance and wonderful service. The food was awesome always good to take advantage of the Happy Hour and the menu selections

We had a reservation so check in was smooth. Service is quick and our waiter was very well spoken which I appreciate. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. The ambiance is more so on the darker/chill side. It would be great for a date night or out with friends. Parking is a little bit harder to find but they also have valet. On to the food, I find it quite subpar. It tastes the same as every other restaurant but it's still filling and good. The skirt steak is nice but you could easily make it at home. The same could be said with the vodka pasta as well. Drinks are tasty so that's a plus. Overall I would only come back if I needed somewhere special to go to.

For brunch + cocktails A restaurant hits. Can't beat the location and ambiance. It's an easy place to order a bunch of different items to share. Service was solid and they have great bartenders. Squash blossoms are a must try.

everything about this place screamed comfort luxury. the booths, the lighting, the service, and of course the food. highlights for me was the bread and butter, the way my steak was cooked perfectly and the overall perfect service. definitely 10/10 and coming back without a doubt.

This place came highly recommended to us from friends and it did not let us down. The ambiance is great. Lots of booths. Great people watching. Warm nice lighting. Old school wood decor. The service was great. We had a server, and someone to clear and set each course. They also had a really good sommelier to help us choose our wine. Tuesday is 1/2 price wine night. All the bottles are half off! (Excluding the few that are super rare and allocated) Important note: The bar gets PACKED! We came in right at opening and there were no seats. You have to get there about 20 minutes early to wait in line to get in and get a spot. We didn't know that and wish we would have. Also- they apparently have a founders room that you can rent out, and have a private dining area in its own building in the back of the parking lot. It looked like a great place for a party.

We attended a birthday dinner in the private dining area named the Owner's Lounge. The small building is completely separate from the restaurant, it feels like a cozy cabin which comfortably fit 15 guests and a DJ! I liked being in the private, intimate setting. The set up had a small DJ booth set up, TV, booth seats, chairs, 2 large tables, and small open space in between to mingle and dance! Valet parking is available for $9. The service was outstanding! The staff had to walk back and forth in the rain since the private room is separate. I cannot remember our servers name, but she really knows how to paint a picture of each menu item by her detailed description. Every single person was extremely satisfied with our delicious meals! I wish I could've had the mac and cheese all to myself! The filet mignon was cooked to perfection. There is no private restroom, so we would walk to the main restaurant for the restroom inside. The restaurant was extremely loud and busy with people waiting by the front door.

Valet parking ($9.00) Reservations recommended. Ok for groups of maybe 8 or less. Did not see any kids. Small location, great service. Menu offered many options. Must try location if in the area.

    Ann V.

We love coming here, especially for drinks. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is beautiful too. I love that they have a fireplace for those chilly nights and sliding doors for those warms days. We usually come here for drinks and we love it.

From the…read moremoment you step inside, you are greeted by an adorable interior and decor that cleverly and beautifully matches the restaurant's theme. Every single item we ordered from the menu was exceptional: Beet Salad & Bone Marrow: Both made for fantastic starters, setting a high bar for the meal. Beef Tartare: Served with house-made potato chips that are a masterclass in texture--thin, fried, airy, and crispy all at the same time. Steak and Fries: Classic execution and wonderfully prepared. Duck Confit: Superb. The pairing of the rich mole sauce and sweet potato puree takes the dish to an entirely different level, complementing each other effortlessly. Baklava Cheesecake: A creative and delicious twist on a classic. The cream cheese filling is light rather than dense, and instead of a traditional graham cracker crust, it features a fantastic baklava crust. It is nicely balanced and not overly sweet, though you will definitely want to pair it with a cup of coffee to finish it off. Service: The staff is exceptionally friendly, highly attentive, and organized, making you feel well cared for throughout the meal. Portions: Portions are slightly on the smaller side. My husband and I ordered three appetizers and two main entrees to share, and we were still quite hungry by the end--so you may want to order an extra dish or side if you have a hearty appetite! Overall, a wonderful dining experience with incredible flavors and charming ambiance. It took a minute to locate the restaurant and figure out parking, but once we arrived at the door, the experience was first-class from beginning to end. The hostess was charming and welcoming, the staff kept our waters filled and the table spotless, and our server, Juan, was outstanding. His knowledge of the menu, detailed descriptions, and personal recommendations made ordering easy and built our anticipation for every dish. We started by sharing the beet salad and Chicken Tinga Empanadas with the Gringo Killer Sauce. The beet salad was fresh and beautifully balanced, while the empanadas were packed with rich, savory flavor. The Gringo Killer Sauce added a bold kick that made them especially memorable. My wife ordered the wedge salad, my daughter chose the Grilled Octopus Al Pastor, and I had the 8 oz Picanha special. Every dish was exceptional. The octopus was a creative and flavorful take on al pastor, and the Picanha special was perfectly cooked, tender and was an absolute standout. Everything was so impressive that I sent my compliments to the chef and was fortunate enough to meet Chef Jackie personally. Then came dessert. Juan described a peach cobbler special that immediately had my mouth watering, while my daughter ordered the Espresso Crème Brûlée. Juan returned to our table with three plates and spoons and informed me that Chef Jackie has recommended her specialty. I did not argue, Chef knows best. She surprised me by sending out something different: a slice of Baklava Cheesecake accompanied by a scoop of house-made peach cobbler ice cream. Now, I have eaten some outstanding cheesecakes all around the world, but this Baklava Cheesecake was on an entirely different level. It was rich, layered, perfectly textured and flaky, and so unbelievably delicious that I nearly licked the plate clean. The house-made peach cobbler ice cream was equally impressive--light and creamy, yet captured the full peach cobbler flavor. The Espresso Crème Brûlée was also beautifully executed, with a crisp caramelized sugar shell and a deep, smooth coffee-flavored custard. My daughter ate half of hers before turning her attention to the cheesecake, and she does not even like cheesecake. That alone should tell you how special it was. I live three hours away, but I will absolutely be making the drive back. Lemon & Thyme delivers exceptional food, thoughtful hospitality, creative dishes, and the kind of personal service that turns a meal into a lasting memory. This is my new favorite restaurant!!! Do yourself a favor and make the trip to Lemon & Thyme. Ask for Juan, trust Chef Jackie, and do not leave without desert. Chef Jackie, Juan and the rest of the staff, thank you for the amazing experience!!!

Seems like a good place for regulars as I heard people laughing in the back and as some left they told us how amazing everything was. Unfortunately, I just don't think the food was as amazing as they thought. Both the cabbage and carrots just didn't have crisp or caramelization for something roasted I think both could have done better with a longer amount of time for better crispiness. The cabbage in general I actually can't recommend, a hassle to cut, very mushy, and overall not the best tasting? The carrots definitely also had a taste to them that I believe some people could like, but were also not for me (a pickle lover). Both dishes were also extremely acidic, think the cabbage could have done better with a cream based sauce on top. The carrots being acidic makes sense since they're pickled though. The steak sandwich was very good, however, nice price and good taste. Wish there were some leafy greens with it (why I ordered the cabbage). This place seems like a hoot and a holler for some people. This was not the event we had envisioned for the guest of honor who was 8 months pregnant. It was not only uncomfortable but also posed a health risk. The restaurant showed a lack of concern, care and accountability over the entire situation. I understand that the weather and the AC breaking were out of anyone's control but the handling of the situation and the aftermath was poor. We tried to give the restaurant opportunities to make this right but they failed at every opportunity. Because of the lack of communication, poor decision making and incompetency, I cannot recommend this restaurant for any events. The servers were nice and the food was all right but there are many other acceptable options for food in the area.

Every time we visit Costa Mesa, this Mediterranean restaurant is a must-stop for us. We've been…read moreloyal customers for years, and it's always a pleasure to return. The service is one of the many reasons we keep coming back. The servers recognize us and greet us like old friends, making every visit feel warm and personal. What makes this place even more special is that it's a family-owned business. The owners are often present, personally welcoming guests and ensuring everyone has a great dining experience. Their hospitality creates a welcoming atmosphere that keeps customers returning time and time again. My go-to meal is the Boneless Chicken Kabab served with basmati rice and a fresh Mediterranean salad. The chicken is incredibly flavorful, well marinated, and cooked to perfection every single time. I honestly don't know their secret, but the chicken is always juicy and tender, never dry like many other kabab places we've tried. Consistency is hard to find and they absolutely nail it. Another favorite of ours is the Koobideh Combo, which includes both Beef and Chicken Koobideh Kababs served with Mediterranean salad and your choice of basmati rice or rice mixed with lentils and raisins. The flavors are authentic, the portions are generous, and every bite is satisfying. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. It's no surprise that so many customers become regulars. The restaurant is usually packed during lunchtime, which speaks volumes about its popularity. We typically arrive around 11:30 AM to beat the lunch rush and enjoy a more relaxed dining experience. If you're looking for delicious Mediterranean food, friendly service, generous portions, and great value, this place is definitely worth a visit. It's one of those hidden gems that keeps us coming back every time we're in Costa Mesa.

The lunch crowd wasn't too busy the day I visited. Got a combo plate. The food portion was good. Overall, the Koobideh was seasoned and cooked well. Will have to come back to try other dishes.
