This restaurant is located in a small plaza and has a nice outdoor seating area with a fire pit. My friend and I dropped by for a light meal and ordered one of the pizzas. We mostly stayed out near the fire pit in the outdoor seating area since the weather was so nice. The pizza was good but a bit oily. Our server was nice and checked in on us every once in awhile. 2nd time here in less than a year. Came on a Sunday for dinner , pretty light crowd. Servers were awesome. We ordered A couple of cocktails Started with salmon tartare and Roasted Beets salad. Duck Tacos Tomahawk steak with crispy potatoes and an order of broccolini . Drinks came out delicious. Shockingly the broccolini came out before any of the other food. Salmon tartare was very safe nothing special about it. Roasted beets were nice in flavor and a surprise kick of heat. Duck tacos were tender and an overall good bite. The tomahawk is what we came back for, unfortunately by the time it came our broccolini had already gone cold. The steak itself was cook medium rare as we requested but there was a bit more char to the steak. It was a bit disappointing as it tasted very gamey as compared to our first time where there was a lot more marbling. Honestly felt like we were eating a tomahawk steak from Stater Bros( no offense to their steaks). It was also our anniversary which we mention on our reservation but did not get acknowledged for that either :/ Lastly we took home the steak but didn't realize they did not pack the bone which we usually get. read more

Arc Food & Libations was my kind of Monday dinner spot. Met up with a colleague here for dinner and the experience was solid from start to finish. Plenty of parking, which is always a nice bonus, and once inside the restaurant had that dimly lit, cozy, upscale feel that works well for anything from a dinner meeting to a date night. They're open for dinner only, so the whole space really leans into that evening vibe. We grabbed a booth and settled in, and Sara took great care of us all night. She was friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel easy and comfortable without hovering. The drink menu is definitely worth a look too, especially for anyone into whiskey, bourbon, or tequila. There's a wide selection, so this feels like a spot where you can just as easily come for cocktails and bites as you can for a full dinner. We started with the fried olives and cornbread, then followed that up with a wedge salad. Everything came out looking great, and presentation was clearly a big part of the experience here. The standout was easily the 42 oz tomahawk steak. It came out sliced on a long wooden board, which gave it a really impressive presentation and made it feel like the centerpiece of the whole table. We added duck fat potatoes, asparagus, and shrimp, and it all came together into one of those meals that feels a little extra in the best way. Overall this was a strong 4-star visit for me. Very slick & chic and masculine vibe. Beautifully decorated with green and woods throughout the place. There are several seating sections; the bar, the booths, the tables, the outdoor with the fire pit, the patio, a the back. Dim lights but good enough to see the menu, per our waitress, all foods are cook in the big round fire bridge or over fire grill. Parking can be tough at night at the front entrance, but plenty on the other side. Nice, friendly and helpful staff. The foods are excellent and perfectly make or grilled. The drinks are quite good too. The only thing that I didn't like is the carrot cake. I love love love carrot cake but this one is too wet and the taste abit off...it's fine but it is not carrot cake quality's. But very well plated, looks great but the taste of it, is not. Overpriced drinks, but the main entrées are absolutely stellar--the fish in particular is amazing. Unfortunately, the service during this visit was really disappointing. The host staff seemed very young and inattentive. I waited an extremely long time for my main entrée, only to realize it had been delivered to the wrong table. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, the hostess told me my entrée was "coming up," even though it had already gone to a table that arrived well after I did. After waiting an unreasonable amount of time, I decided to just pay for my appetizers and leave. For $43, I only ended up having a tiny $14 cornbread and a $17 bruschetta. On a previous visit, they also forgot my drinks--I waited so long that the food arrived before the drinks ever did. Absolutely wonderful new Chíc restaurant in the middle of furniture row in the Costa Mesa, Orange County, Southern California serves one of the best wood fired stone oven cooked meals including fabulous free range half whole organic chicken that tased absolutely amazing. The calamari appetizer was one of the best. The wine menu was very best and the prices were very reasonable. For two hungry individuals two entrees and an add on of sorts will be enough, and prices add up fast. We got: 1) The ratatouille because we wanted some vegetables, and it was a creamy delicious chef's kiss! Most of the time ratatouille is tomato based but this was more creamy spinach which was awesome! 2) wagyu steak with duck potatoes- this skillet is probably one of their largest and honestly, one person could finish this but it's better shared. Wagyu steak is a treat and this was cooked to a perfected medium well 3) grilled shrimp, this was an add on to the steak but it comes as its own entree. I don't recommend getting this without another entree as it really operates as a side/appetizer due to several garnishes and about 5-6 pieces of giant shrimp Excellent presentation and very filling food. I found this place at the last minute because I was going to a concert nearby at the Santa Ana Observatory, and needed to dine before the concert. I used Yelp, of course, and this place was one of the nearby choices. I must admit that the name, "Arc" did not sound appealing to me, but the dollar signs fit what I was looking for on Friday night. I was so pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is great! There are various choices for seating: patio seating, bar seating, booths, privacy seating, and a speakeasy. The pizza and bruschetta were great. One of them had sundried tomatoes and the bread quality very good. The arugula salad was fresh and well presented. I wish I had taken a better photo. It's good date night restaurant, but also appropriate for large parties. I would have given this place 5 stars, if didn't have to wait so long to even get a glass of water that evening. The waiter at the bar was super overwhelmed with orders, and I imagine he did not have the proper support, so I was quiet and patient. However, I did have to wait about 10 minutes until I even got a glass of water. It was an awkward wait, but my husband sat there quietly and waited, and waited. Luckily, we were not in a hurry to get to the concert. The food we ordered was simple, and it was great. I do recommend the Arc, and I would come back, but I don't think I'll be ordering from the bar in the back area again. Another lovely time at ARC! We had to come back to the Guild Club, and what a lovely treat to have JT again as our bartender. When their menu says, "food is meant for sharing" (paraphrasing), they really mean it. We ordered the salmon tartare, chopped salad and the Cornish hen (not pictured). Man, the chopped salad was huge! Prob good for 3-4 people; we were only 2 people. And then we ordered the Cornish hen, it's a full roasted hen so it was a lot of protein. Just keep that in mind when ordering -- make sure you and your partner are HUNGRY!! For drinks, we got the Girlfriend (this time, she was a blackberry margarita), Kennedy, Twain and Lady Randolf. All were delicious and what we needed after sitting in traffic and before going to the Observatory. We came here on a Sunday evening, and it wasn't too crowded - perfect for a relaxing dinner. The interior has a cool 1920s vibe, and there's a heated patio with an outdoor fireplace, which is a nice touch. Came here before going to a show at the observatory. It was very close. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat us so that was great. They have a cute outdoor area with a fire pit even. It seems like a campfire which was very nostalgic but just a heads up as the odor stayed on me. The service was very friendly and helpful. They explained that their plates are for sharing and I believe it mentions that even on the menu. (Just a heads up.) we tried the cornbread and the chicken and broccolini casserole which both were very delicious. We were served politely and promptly. The alcoholic drinks were replenished as often as my friend liked. We ordered three dishes. One was a chicken nugget-like appetizer. It was crunchy but slightly on the dry side. Not surprising since it was probably fried. It came with three sauces. It was ok. The fries were good. Not too thick, super crunchy. Just perfect. You gotta eat it while it's still hot. The best thing was the wagyu steak cooked perfectly at medium rare as requested. It's served on a sizzling platter with duck fat potatoes and some sour cream to finish. That steak was melt-in-your mouth delish! Parking in the front is always difficult but plentiful in the back. I'm a pretty sympathetic reviewer. I respect the time and money any business owner spends so my reviews start at 5 star and then I deduct if necessary. But sometimes I want a 6th or 7th star. This is one of those days times. I love love love everything they do here. The staff are attentive but not intrusive. Everyone working here seems to care and enjoy their work. The concept here of cooking everything over live wood fire is wonderful. I guarantee you aren't making this food at home. The dishes seem like they might be rustic but they are deeply chef-y. A simple started like the fried olives works on so many levels from the light battered blue cheese olives accompanied with thin battered slices of lemon over romesco sauce. The duck leg is another example: the sausage and lentils that serve as a base almost overshadow a perfectly succulent piece of meat. The thick cut bacon is an old favorite. It's like bacon steak! The menu has been pretty stable for years and they are sticking with what works. The bar program is spot on: great crafted cocktails and solid wine and beer selections. You can feel the pride coming from the kitchen as you observe and take in all of the arc experience. We ordered the chopped salad, seared calamari, and duck tacos to start. My least favorite was the seared calamari due to its texture, but the lemony flavor was so tasty. The duck tacos are a perfect combination of taco/tostada. These are my favorite thing on the menu. A great restaurant for family style dining! Came as a group of 8 and were seated in their patio section. Luckily it wasn't too hot or sunny so the weather was perfect. We dined on a Saturday evening around 5:30PM with a reservation made over the phone. I did have to call multiple times, on different days to finally get into contact with someone. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. She helped us decide on what kinds of dishes would be great to share and the quantity of each. We ordered the tart flambee pizza, charred Brussels, the arugula salad with grilled bacon, garlic meatballs, seared calamari, enchiladas, baby back ribs, dessert cornbread, and their chocolate cake. I would totally recommend the tart flambee, Brussels sprouts, the salad with grilled bacon, and their dessert cornbread! For drinks we got the Gloom, Cigarettes & Coffee, The Girlfriend, Two Gins One Cup, Campadre, Hyland Old Fashion, Twain, Snozzberry, a custom tequila cocktail, and some red wines. I absolutely enjoyed the Two Gins and One Cup! The total ended up being around $1k with gratuity included. We were hoping to get into their speakeasy, The Guild Club, but since they are under a revamp for their cocktail menu and because of the size of our group, it wasn't worth it to move out of our table. I think this is a fun place to try some interesting, very delicious food, but it is hard to give this place four stars because if someone asked me if i would come here again, I would be on the fence, because I am not convinced this place is worth what you spend. Everything here is more like tapas-style and extremely small portions. I had expected that. What I didn't expect is the pricing: the two dollar sign is definitely not right for the pricing. This is more of a four dollar sign place: be prepared spend at least $100 a person because the portions are extremely tiny, even for tapas. For example, the $32 sea bass we ordered was "sharable" but it was so tiny it was only worth four bites: I don't know if it was even 2oz of fish: 2 may be pushing it, but I've attached a photo for reference. That being said though, the fish was delicious: the fish was light, flavorful and reminded me of a tomato vineyard with fresh, herbal flavors and the succotash paired so well with it. We also had cornbread which was sweet and had a nice crust, duck fat potato's, and the ribeye, which was cooked so well with the fat perfectly rendered: it was a really nice steak and they cut it for us too so it was easier to share, which we appreciated. That being said, in all: i wish the pricing was a little better. At this price point, it is a "special occasion" spot, and I am just unsure if it is worth it given some other restaurants with a similar price point. read more

First off, I've been here at least 5-6 times total. Food was/is always good. Not an issue. Drinks are pricey but decent. The problem is *service* personnel. Last time (end of September): the so-called hostess was rude and behaved as if she was doing us a favor, despite a reservation. The main concern is that, when told that we had a toddler, she *gleefully* made it a point to loudly proclaim that they have neither child chairs nor booster seats. If the place discourages kids, that's fine, but no need to be rude or exhibit a snotty attitude about it. The service after that wasn't better... Our waitress was nowhere to be found. We had to hail another nearby server who obliged but ours was consistently NOT THERE when we needed her. Yet, she very clearly got smiley and friendly when she brought the bill, expecting a decent tip, of course. Not once asked how the food or drinks were. We tipped the usual 20%, but not happily. FWIW, during the previous visits to ARC, the service didn't shine either. But, this was the worst so far. read more

Decided to come to a local bar to grab a drink or two but ended up having a full meal thanks to JC's recommendation and outstanding service (I believe that's the bartender's name, not 100% positive). First, the dirty martinis here are amazing, and the blue cheese olives are to die for. I could have about 10 of these in one sitting because of how delicious they are. I'm not the biggest whiskey drinker, but this whiskey sour had a nice frothiness that was enjoyable. For food, we started with the tomato burrata. It was light, refreshing, and had a savory element from the basil pistou. The garlic meatballs included charred tomato, and it was honestly one of my favorite bites from today. The meatballs came out fresh from the oven, accompanied by toasted bread and finished with a parmesan brûlée, adding a nice complement to the dish. I've personally never had a crab cake before, but this was a great first impression. I think the asparagus had a nice crunch that contrasted well with the delicate crab cake. The squeeze of the lemon wedge added a light citrus flavor to this umami-forward dish. The main star tonight was the hanger steak, which was cooked perfectly. It was served with a side of roasted potato topped with crème. Coming in just to get drinks, the option of ordering all these food items was unexpected, but I was so glad to try them with my friends. Now, you can't have food without finishing with desserts. We ordered an amazing chocolate cake that was rich but balanced well with the coconut shavings, which added a subtle sweetness. I'm also not too sure what the second dessert was because it was something on their "secret menu," but it was one of my favorite bites. The bread was fluffy, and the ice cream on top was definitely needed. In terms of the restaurant, it has lots of seating, and though you can sit at the many tables they have, I would recommend sitting at the bar. The bartenders provide amazing service and make great recommendations. I also loved the concept of the restaurant having such an open kitchen, as you can see which food items are being cooked. Both were very good, the meatballs flavorful. They were out of one of the steaks we were going to order so we got the baby back ribs. I thought they were tender and tasty with a bit of spice. Crispy chicken tenders were delicious - especially with the honey mustard dipping sauce. Charred Brussels sprouts were outstanding - just perfect! The arugula salad was a disappointment. It lacked flavor and had almost no dressing. Dry and bland. Glass of Sancerre was good, but not served cold enough, which is a pet peeve of mine. For a restaurant that is not located at a traditional food hub or amidst a residential area, ARC appears to have quite the following of patrons. It could be due to its atmosphere and vibe or the cuisine it has to offer or perhaps both . . . which I believe to be the case. There is something for every palette it seems and a place that I would recommend your visiting. As the menu and Yelper's have expressed, it specialized on the preparation of proteins over an open flame. The menu covers a good spectrum of protein options from poultry to pork to seafood to beef. Mixed within that array of options are many choices that patrons can select that start with a unique series of options to get things started for the evening. Oh, and they have a really nice array of libations that will satisfy just about anyone looking for something with personality. On this occasion, I ordered a plate of the Charred Brussels. It was prepared with duck chicharrons with fresh herbs. It arrived on a sizzling cast iron skillet which further accentuated the char. Good flavor and something that I would suggest adding is salt and pepper as it would have covered any added flavor that bacon normally does on many charred Brussels at other spots. My entrée was the Grilled Steak, sliced. It, too, arrived on a sizzling skillet. One thing that you will note is the servers will indicate that the beef is prepared just short of the preferred temperature, but fret not, in these instances, that skillet will finish the job if that is your preference, and not in excess of that temperature by the time you finish your meal. Nevertheless, my meal was served with a perfectly cooked potato topped with crème. Very good quality beef with that char that virtually every beef eater is drawn towards when eating beef on an open flame. Unfortunately, this cut could have used salt and paper as well. While the open flame over wood fired cooking did add a great flavor, the additional seasoning would have make a big difference in my opinion. Sure, I could have asked, but it wasn't offered either. My friend ordered the Pork Roast that was served atop white beans and salted maple. Cooked very well and a great flavor to boot combined with the flavorful beans. Solid combination. Overall, this was a good meal. There is something for just about everyone who enjoys protein prepared in this manner. The side options were very creative as well. Service was very good and we did not feel rushed in any way. Although on this occasion there appeared to be available tables, I would encourage you to make a reservation as I have seen ARC packed. Cool and trendy speakeasy with eclectic decor inside. Unfortunately, I can't quite say the same for the patio, which is right up against the parking lot with a view of the nearby furniture store. Because we were seated outdoors, we didn't get quite the experience, but the food was still good. We shared a steak, which came with roasted potatoes. It cost around $100, but fed two of us well and we still had a bit leftover. We also tried the meatballs, which were unique - definitely not your average ones. They were mighty tasty, flavorful and infused with tons of garlic, which I personally loved. Overall, the food is pretty good, but not sure if it's worth trekking out here for, especially given how pricey it is. Nonetheless, this place might appeal to you if you appreciate unique ambiances and cocktails. I should note that we were overcharged for a much more expensive cocktail than we originally ordered, which negatively impacted our experience as well, considering the meal was already so expensive. read more

What an awesome place, I heard they were new and wanted to give it a try, super cozy dark ambiance, amazing decor, definitely a date spot. Food was delicious, we only ordered a few appetizers and they were all really good. Service was top notch, every employee check on us making sure we were doing good. We had reservations at 7:45 and but made it there by 7:00 and still got seated. Overall excellent experience and will definitely be back! read more
