Took my friend here to celebrate her birthday and we had such an amazing time! We were greeted with complimentary drinks and given the choice of rosé or a tequila shot, which was such a fun way to start the celebration! We ordered the beef empanadas to start, and they were perfectly flaky on the outside and so savory and flavorful. For our entrée, we had the ropa vieja, which had just the right amount of flavor and was absolutely delicious. The ambiance was beautiful and made the whole experience feel extra special. They even brought out her birthday cake with a sparkler, which was such a sweet touch! We truly had such a wonderful time celebrating here. Everything from the food to the atmosphere made her birthday feel so special. I would absolutely recommend coming here, especially if you're celebrating someone you love. We'll definitely be back!
We visited Habana around 12:40 pm on a Tuesday and were seated almost immediately. Parking at The LAB can be a different story though, and honestly may be harder than getting a table depending on when you visit. We ordered the Cheese Empanadas and El Churrasco. I originally wanted a different empanada, but one of the ingredients conflicted with an allergy and couldn't be removed. The staff was welcoming and helpful in pointing out which dishes and components contained it, so we went with the Cheese Empanadas to be safe. The food came out within about 10 minutes. I really liked the pastry on the Cheese Empanadas because it was light and airy, although the cheese filling itself was a little heavy for my personal preference. The El Churrasco was good overall. I enjoyed the chimichurri, corn, and rice, but the skirt steak itself was just okay compared to others I've had. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a great atmosphere. Overall, Habana is a solid option for Cuban food and everything we tried was good, but nothing particularly shined for me. I'd still be interested in coming back and exploring more of the menu.
I came here with some colleagues after work for dinner. The outdoor seating was very nice and the place had a good energy. Our server Jereny was super friendly and was happy to answer our questions about the menu. I ordered the churrasco and it was just OK. Maybe the waiter talked it up too much. The portion was small and not very filling. I enjoyed the tostones and wish they had given me some dipping sauce for them.

BRUNCH!! 5/5 I've only been here for brunch so I can't speak on dinner service. Everything we had was delicious, but the stars of the meal were definitely the paella and the made to order banana ice cream dessert. The paella was packed with flavor, and the banana dessert was absolutely incredible. The atmosphere was beautiful, making it a perfect spot for brunch. Can't wait to come back! Would recommend making reservations the line gets long.

I was hesitant at first because I had never really tried Cuban food before, but I'm so glad we took a chance! I ordered the El Churrasco based on the staff's recommendation, and it was delicious. The steak tasted incredibly fresh, and everything came together as the perfect savory and satisfying meal. The atmosphere has a dark, tropical island vibe, with plenty of outdoor seating. We ended up sitting inside in one of the booths, which was very comfortable. They also offer happy hour from around 3-7 p.m. daily, although the happy-hour specials are only available at the high-top tables. The only issue we had was that our server cleared the wrong plate without asking. He left the empty plate that I was finished with on the table, but took away the plate with my corn on the cob that was only halfway eaten. I'm not sure why he chose that plate, but I wish he had asked whether we were finished before taking it away and throwing out food we were still eating. Other than that, we really enjoyed the food and would definitely come back. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a great sit-down meal at The LAB!
Ok my first time here & I am not Cuban but Puerto Rican & our food is similar! Not authentic but glorified Cuban to warrant the high prices! In all fairness food taste very good & fresh. The best dish I would say was the "Lechon" , so referred "the other white meat" my daughter ordered! My wife had the Osobuco, not a Cuban dish in my mind, but good. I had the Churrasco, I believe it's call very good cut of flank steak & I think Argentine sauce! I enjoyed this we also had "Mofongo" ( mashed Plantain) good! I thought the Flan was Very good! Not to sweet great consistency! Very price although keep in mind it is Orange County! Lastly Service was good not great but good. Friendly not quit as attentive as I was like! Worth a dent on your credit card!
You immediately feel like you are transported to Cuba ! The decor is so well thought out and is literally the most perfect restaurant I have ever seen. The food was spectacular and I really recommend the roasted chicken. It was to die for. My friend had the Kobe burger and she loved it as well. Service is top notch. Def a must try if in the area !

Authentic Cuban food that was utterly delicious. Great portions too. Service was attentive and stellar overall. Food came to the table quickly, albeit drinks took a bit longer than expected to arrive, but then again it was an at-capacity night. Loved the ambience of Habana. Great romantic date spot. So good! Called in for reservations to celebrate a graduation and they did so good with accommodations and the decorations. Our server was so lively and attentive, it made the whole experience great. We ordered various dishes and all of them tasted amazing! Definitely coming back
I mean who doesn't love Habana?? This is by far one of the most romantic restaurants in Costa Mesa and located in such a unique outdoor mall (worth walking around afterwards). The lighting and vibes can't be beat and neither can the food for that matter. While it may be a little pricey, worth the splurge. I always recommend the mojitos with sugar cane stirring sticks as well as the empanadas. The service is excellent! I can't wait to come back.

We had a reservation for 6 people at 3PM so there was no wait. Our server was very friendly throughout the whole meal, and we were seated on the patio which had a very cool vibe, as if we were really in Havana/Havana. The menu is actually not that big, and prices were definitely on the pricier side. I ended up ordering a paella for 1 with a side of tostones. Fortunately, the paella portion was generous. I also enjoyed a tasty non-alcoholic piña colada. For dessert, I had their flan. The food was all very tasty and again the service and atmosphere were fantastic. Just be aware and prepared to spend a little more when dining here.
Love this restaurant. Best vibes and ambiance. Dim, patio is super cute! I recommend sitting in the patio vs inside. The chorizo mussel clams steamer is so flavorful and good! Order an extra side of bread and dip it!! Perfect appy! Espresso martini was made to perfection. The filet was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Comes normally with fries but I got the garlic mashed potatoes instead. Service was great! Highly recommend this spot! Great for dates, girls date night and it's the perfect vibe! read more

I want to begin with an important distinction: my two-star rating is not meant to suggest that the food was terrible, the service was bad, or the restaurant unpleasant. It reflects something a little harder to quantify: value. The amount a restaurant asks me to pay inevitably creates a certain expectation. Food, service, atmosphere and price don't exist independently of one another; they form a package. And for me, the package simply didn't come together here. There were things I genuinely liked. We sat outside, beneath a corrugated metal covering, and I actually enjoyed the design of the space. The tables and chairs are a refreshing departure from the polished, corporate, "haven't I seen this in twelve other restaurants?" look. And the candle wall at the far end of the patio is simply wonderful--warm, cozy and genuinely beautiful. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting or the prices. We each had a beer: an 11.16-ounce can for $10. It was cold, fresh and perfectly drinkable. It also wasn't particularly good. Obviously, the restaurant didn't brew it, but ultimately they chose it, priced it and served it. We also shared the Chicken Empanadas ($18) and Mariscos Fritos ($22). The empanadas were... meh. Nothing particularly wrong with them, but nothing that made me want another one, either. The Mariscos Fritos were the bigger disappointment. The menu promises calamari and shrimp, although I honestly had trouble identifying much of either. There was plenty of fennel, which was far too raw for my taste, and the dish was a considerable distance from what I would describe as "cooked to perfection." And I want to be fair here: nothing tasted spoiled. Nothing appeared to have been fried in old oil. Nothing was inedible. We finished the plate. It simply wasn't enjoyable. The service was perfectly fine and, frankly, perfectly forgettable--and I don't necessarily mean that as criticism. Good service can be a little like music in a movie: sometimes you barely notice it, but you'd certainly notice if it weren't there. Nothing about the service bothered me, and nothing particularly stood out. What finally crystallized my feelings was looking to my right from our table and seeing a parking lot. At one point I was being blinded by the headlights of a car whose driver needed about four attempts to park. Had I been looking at the Caribbean Sea, I might have sipped my $10 canned beer, eaten my rather ordinary appetizers and thought, Well... I'm paying for the whole experience. But I wasn't looking at the Caribbean Sea. I was looking at a parking lot. And perhaps that's the best way I can explain the two stars. Two $10 beers and two appetizers brought us to $60 before tax and tip. That amount, by itself, doesn't offend me. I've happily spent similar amounts elsewhere and walked away thinking, Worth it. Here, I didn't. The food wasn't terrible. The service wasn't bad. The setting had some genuinely lovely touches. And the prices, considered in isolation, aren't outrageous. They simply didn't belong together. For what we ate, where we ate it, and the overall experience we received, I left feeling that what I had paid and what I had received were too far apart. And ultimately, that's what I'm rating. read more

Habana always takes a piece of my heart every time I visit. It has got to be one of my favorite OC restaurants. We've celebrated Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve, and many birthdays at both Habana locations. This is my first time visiting for brunch, and once again, my heart is full. If you are looking for the Brunch Buffet, Irvine is the location for it (found out today). This location offers a brunch menu, and I must say I was just as pleased. We ordered their short rib hash and leche french toast. Both were amazing. Plated beautifully, generously, and so flavorful. I've never disliked a dish from Habana. Outdoor patio is the perfect spot for weekend brunch! Such friendly, serene, yet hip vibes. Our service was great. Being greeted with complimentary champagne never gets old, even when I don't currently drink lol. It's always the small things. Half of my heart will always be at Habana. read more

Love coming here for any excuse! It's perfect for a romantic dinner, love their romantic vibe of dim light with candles and they usually welcome you wit a small Sample of rose! If it's your anniversary they do a little cute message in the table for you with Fake rose petals! Make it's more special night! My favorite dish!! Rum pepper shrimp , it's just perfect! Their cocktails were on the sweeter side for me, but all depends on how you like your cocktails! They always have the best fast service and easy to book a reservation online! The filet mignon is the leanest and most tender cut of beef, with no overwhelming fattiness -- definitely the best dish I've had tonight. The thyme rests on the steak, adding a touch of visual elegance to the presentation, while the meat absorbs its distinctive aroma and develops a richer, more layered flavor. The Rum Pepper Shrimp features a sweet-and-spicy flavor profile and a rich, slightly sticky rice base. It reminds me of Sabrosada's shrimp burrito in Fountain Valley, but with a twist: this place adds mango cubes and jicama strips that offer a refreshing, water chestnut-like crunch. Apart from the food, the interior design is exceptionally well done. With its Latin-inspired décor and abundance of lamps and candles, the space strikes a beautiful balance -- dim enough to feel romantic, yet bright enough that you can still see everything clearly around you. Chris was absolutely spectacular! From the moment we sat down, he made sure our mojitos were perfect and that every part of our dining experience exceeded expectations. His service was attentive, friendly, and truly made my birthday celebration feel special. The ambiance is incredible, it really gives you a little taste of Cuba with a Miami vibe. The chicken empanadas are an absolute must, and the ropa vieja was packed with authentic flavor. Every bite was delicious. If you're looking for amazing food, great drinks, and outstanding service, this is the place. The food is average. Nothing really stood out, yet nothing was bad. Overall, a bit overpriced imo. Service is GREAT. All the staff are so friendly and kind. Brought the kiddos to Habana for brunch and we all had a fantastic time. Atmosphere and decor was w 10/10 with good customer service to match. We weren't offered kids' menus so I am not sure if that was available, but we paid about $45 for the kids to eat Steak & Eggs and $25 for pancakes. The $19.99 unlimited Sangria (time limit of 90 mins) made up for the price so I definitely couldn't complain. I ordered a side of the Mac & Cheese and that was tasted amazing. Everything tasted delicious. My favorite was flank steak dish and paella dish. Pork dish was also great. The only complaint was the parking. It was share with other businesses so parking could be hard. I was surprised to see this parking situation outside of downtown Los Angeles. read more

We ordered Beef empanadas 5/5 Very moist but wish the croissant crust was more crispy Chicken empanadas 4/5 Perfectly moist but lacked flavor for me. The crust wasn't flakey enough Short rib picadillo hash 5/5 A must have! It's served with toast . All the flavors on this skillet married so well together. Just wish it had a few more potatoes on it tho. Banana brûlée 5/5 I'd come her just for this! Theeeeee best I've had in so long. If the fire brûlée's the banana enough you'll get an amazing lightly crispy bite with the vanilla icecream and ohhhhh that sauce ! Bellini flight 3/5 The tamarind was my fave . My party and I came here for Sunday brunch. (Parking was fine till around 1130am - there were plenty of open spots. Thennnn it started getting crazy and you had to wait for someone else to leave.) Staff was fantastic but shoutout to our server Marlene and the manager Gina (I may be wrong, I'm sorry!). They were such a vibe and so generous and funny. Our experience with the food was already incredible (literally everything tasted amazing - go get the rum pepper shrimp!), but they (and bartender assumedly ;)) made this an unforgettable birthday! 1000% coming back, even with the horrible parking! read more

Absolutely love Habana!! This is my first time at the Costa Mesa location after having been to the Irvine location a couple times. The ambiance here is INCREDIBLE, both the interior and outdoor seating area have wonderful lighting and decor to help set the mood. The service here is great and the wait staff are all very friendly and attentive. Everything that I've tried here has been delicious and I'm excited to try new items off the menu every time I visit. I've had their steak, medianoche, ropa vieja, and empanadas so far and they've all been delicious. Perfect spot for a date night or a chill outing with friends, Habana is easily one of my favorite restaurants and I would highly recommend you go!! read more
Habana in Costa Mesa was a mixed experience. The restaurant is pretty small, which could feel cozy, but the overall ambience didn't land for us mainly because the music was blasting at an unreal volume. It was so loud you could barely hold a conversation, and in a tight space that just made everything feel overwhelming rather than enjoyable. The food was decent, but for how pricey it is, I expected a lot more. On top of that, the host staff wasn't particularly friendly, which set the tone the wrong way from the start. I wanted to like it because the concept and energy is great, but between the cost, the noise level, and the less than welcoming front of house staff, it's hard to justify going back. read more

Our group came in here for a weekend brunch and were seated inside with a lovely view of their outdoor patio. It's beautiful decorated and service was great. EVERYTHING IS DAMN DELICIOUS HERE! EVERYTHINGGGgggGgg! Appetizers was chicken empanada, which unfortunately was the only dish I was able to take a picture of before we devoured everything. 3 people in our party ordered the churrasco steak; comes with plantains, beans, rice, and an elote style corn on the cob. The steak is heavenly, cooked medium well was perfection. I could do without the elote. I got to sample the steak. And that bite was SO GOOD!! We shared a plate of seafood paella, chefs kiss to that menu item. Came with generous portions of salmon, mussels, clams, and shrimp, and sausage. Also split the pork egg Benedict with my cousin, passed the test (how well an eggs Benedict platter is made is my usual litmus test for a breakfast place). Don't forget to order a mojito! Great question! We don't have the buffet at our location but we have an amazing brunch menu available Saturday and Sunday. Our brunch menu includes both Cuban and traditional favorites plus amazing cocktails and bottomless drink options!

We do not have a live band however we have music playing throughout the restaurants speaker system which gives it a lively feeling.
