It's kind of a locals-only spot, but in a good way. Everyone, including the servers, were friendly and chill. It's a no-frills old school joint, and we had a nice time. I had their fish and chips, which were fine. Evening was A-ok.

Disappointing Customer Service -- I Won't Be Back…read more I came to this restaurant on Sunday night specifically to watch the Seahawks game, knowing it was a Seahawks bar. Unfortunately, the customer service was so disappointing that I won't be returning. When I first arrived, I sat at the bar directly in front of the largest TVs, since most of the other TVs throughout the restaurant are much smaller and difficult to see. I sat there for over 15 minutes without the bartender even acknowledging me. No eye contact, no quick "I'll be right with you," nothing. I was sitting right in front of her while she made drinks, and I was completely ignored. Things went downhill from there. After finishing my first beer, I got up to use the restroom. When I returned, the bartender had moved my stuff and given my seat to a group of Raiders fans. I hadn't left the restaurant or indicated that I was done with my seat. I was there to watch the game, and that particular spot was important because of the visibility of the TVs. When I brought it to the bartender's attention, he apologized and offered to get me a beer, asking what I was drinking. Given the circumstances, I reasonably took that gesture as an attempt to make things right. I accepted the beer and made the best of my new seat, even though I could no longer see the TVs as well. Then, when I was getting ready to leave, I discovered that I had been charged for that beer. I never asked for a complimentary drink, but the bartender offered it immediately after the restaurant gave away my seat. The way it was presented certainly gave me the impression that it was a goodwill gesture to compensate for the inconvenience. Between being ignored for over 15 minutes when I arrived, having my seat given away while I was using the restroom, and then being charged for a beer that was offered as an apology, this was one disappointing experience after another. For a restaurant that promotes itself as a Seahawks bar, you would think the customer experience on game night would be a priority. Instead, I left feeling that my business wasn't valued at all. There are plenty of places to watch a Seahawks game. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

I haven't been in The Boardroom for a few months, went in yesterday afternoon with friends. I was immediately served by the bartender,Lacy. Lacy remembered me and was so fun that I have to say I felt like I was part of her bar family. My friends and I stayed for a while to play pool and have great time! Heather did the neighborhood good by replacing Ed's Stumble Inn with the Boardroom (like a surfboard). It's not that she upgraded the bar with a new juke box, new TVs, dart boards and pool tables but she hired some classy ladies to poor beer and wine. People of all ages go there and the HB police won't follow you home because the Boardroom is in Fountain Valley. Cheers to her! read more

Pretty fun place. I go after bowling. Decent vibe. But to be honest Nicole the bartender makes the place great. She is fast with the drinks as well as friendly while remaining professional. Unfortunately, one of the biggest concerns isn't necessarily the establishment itself, but what reportedly happens to customers after they leave. There have been concerns about Costa Mesa police officers parking near the tire shop just down the street, apparently monitoring patrons as they leave Pub 33. Customers have reported being followed by police vehicles and subsequently pulled over for what they believe are questionable or unjustified reasons. Even more concerning are reports that officers immediately begin questioning drivers about alcohol consumption or possible intoxication, despite no apparent evidence of impaired driving. Nobody disputes that police should enforce DUI laws and keep dangerous drivers off the road. However, **there is a significant difference between legitimate DUI enforcement and seemingly targeting individuals simply because they visited a bar or restaurant that serves alcohol.** Customers should be able to enjoy a meal, watch a game, or socialize responsibly without feeling that they are automatically under suspicion the moment they leave. I believe the management of Pub 33, neighboring businesses, and the City of Costa Mesa should take these concerns seriously and review whether police enforcement practices are discouraging customers from visiting local establishments. **Responsible patrons deserve to be treated fairly, and local businesses deserve an environment where customers feel welcome rather than intimidated.**
