Came to Maxim Karaoke to celebrate after my friend's wedding. This is actually my go-to spot, and everything started off super fun -- good vibes, good service, we were having a blast. Then the power suddenly went out... and that was the end of our night. Super frustrating because we were ready to keep the party going. They did give us credit, so we came back to use it -- but then there were no available rooms. Honestly very disappointed. Whoever was on the phone with us never told us it was $160 for the deposit. The place never mentioned charges for bottles. The place was a total scam. Instead of charging $160 for the total night (which was mentioned on the phone), they charged us $160 per hour which led to $1200. We finished a couple of hours of karaoke just for our total bill to be $1200. They didn't charge us $160 in total, they charged us $160 per hour and never communicated on how much the total would be for the hours that were put in, even on the phone call. There was no clarity and instead of using $160 for a fun birthday celebration (WHICH WAS WHAT THE WORKER SAID ON THE PHONE), WE HAD TO PAY $1200???? This is by far the most horrible karaoke spot in Orange County and no one should come to this location. If the workers are going to deceive their customers and name a false price just to change the price at the end, I truly hope that this location closes down. Can't wait to write honest reviews like this on every single platform. Literally any other karaoke place in Orange County can provide better service WITH CATERING, for $400 LESS than the total amount of this place. $1200 for JUST A MICROPHONE AND NO DRINKS OR FOOD. BELIEVE ALL OF THE OVERCHARGED AND SCAMMED/SHADY REVIEWS. We just went for a friends birthday and they had him put $80 to hold the room + an hour. They said 80 per hour after that. We stayed 2 hours until 10pm. When 10pm came I asked the guy at the front how much extra for an hour and he said not to worry about it that we can have the room the rest of the night with no extra charge. They did not seem busy at all. Unfortunately the friend that booked the room drank a little much and was unable to pay the final transaction so I took on the bill, which they charged $300. My own fault I didn't question it as I didn't know the hourly charge or know about the $80 deposit. For the two hours that should've been charged at $80 an hour, we got charged $380. I knew they were being shady once I left to take my drunk friend home and the girls all stayed enjoying their night. Before I was even able to drop my friend off, one of the girls called saying they are charging an extra $70+ cleaning fee. After I already paid the $300, and had temporarily left. They were trying to pull a fast one on the girls. Once I came back and confronted the guy at the front desk of the situation he said he was mistaken and that they were no longer gonna charge the extra $70. The girls said he was treating them very differently when asking for the extra $70 than how he acted when I came questioning the extra charge. SUPER shady business. Here is another Karaoke spot me and my friends love coming to for fun. My girl and I were here on a friend's birthday party last week, and we had the fun of our lives singing songs from 30 years ago, to 10 years ago and early 2000s songs. Expected that they would charge around $20-40/hour like normal karaoke places in OC, but once we left we found out that it was $80/hr for the room. We only stayed a little over 2 hours and they charged us for 3. Also got charged for 3 snacks when we only ate 1. They also added a $45 tip that we never saw or agreed to when paying. Do not come here unless you want to be scammed, they will overcharge you. Only got some of our money back after making them show us a receipt of everything. They were even haggling with us at that point, not wanting to refund everything they overcharged. We were charged $350 for 2 hours of karaoke, water, one snack, and 2 sojus???
