Even though they don't offer that much food, you can bring your own for a small fee! I came here with my friend and it was just as expected. The place was just alright. If you bring in any drinks they charge everyone extra, so if one person brings in a drink everyone will be charge. It isn't too much of an extra charge, but the numbers rack up fast. The total after our session was way more than I thought it would be. The song selections wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I came here on a Saturday night (my friend had reservations from 9pm-1am) for a birthday celebration. I was super excited because I love karaoke, and this spot is BYOB and food-friendly! We had about 12 people and were placed in Room 10, which felt pretty small for our group--we all had to squeeze onto the couch to fit. The temperature was another challenge--either too hot or too stuffy with no comfortable in-between. The room had a small iPad to preload songs into the queue, but not everything we wanted was available. There was a YouTube option, but when we used it, no lyrics would show on the screen. On the plus side, the room felt clean, and they even had a cute birthday banner already set up, which was a nice touch! I do wish there had been at least a small trash can inside, though--we had no idea where to put our trash. When the night was over and we went to pay, the total was almost $500! I couldn't believe it. According to their site, for 12 people it's $126/hour plus $2 per person for bringing in your own food and drinks. I totally get the BYOB fee--it's fair--but wow, that total still felt steep. They also charged $7 for 5 disposable cups, which was a bit much. So we decided to ask our other friend to bring cups! I still had a good time and it was fun because of the company I was with, but for the price, I've been to other karaoke spots (like one in Westminster) with bigger rooms, friendlier staff, and more value for the money. Love to have that flexibility because you know sometimes you get that thirst or hunger from singing your heart out. Reservations are super easy to make with their online system. Even when my group was running late, they were super nice in moving our reservation to a later time and allowed us to extend as we needed. The only minor issues I experienced were that the room would either be really freezing cold or warm/stuffy, and then that the some of the lyrics of songs were either off or non-existent, so maybe an issue with the karaoke software system? Not a dealbreaker since we most likely already know the missing lyrics anyways haha. They have a happy hour deal $8/hour per person which isn't bad but can add up depending on the size of your group. If you have a big group it's probably better to go elsewhere where it's a flat fee per hour for the room vs per person and per hour. The sound system isn't amazing and the rooms are definitely not sound proof but when you're inside, you kinda forget about the people walking by and the people in the other rooms. But beware you can hear them from in your room if they're loud enough and close enough. They have a good variety of song selections. We only went through the English so not sure how the other languages are. The iPad is easy to use and you can also download the app to use your phone. I like that you can queue up your song selections and reorder them if you want to change it up. They don't offer food or drinks here but you can bring your own. It's in a plaza with a grocery outlet and some food establishments, you can easily get food around and bring it in. Regardless of who or how much you bring in, you'll get charged an extra dollar per person. If it's one bottle of water, it's $1/person in the group. Now I'm not sure if it's $1 for food and another $1 for drinks since we didn't bring any food. I'm docking a star here cause we brought in one hydro flask (with water) and our group of four was charged an additional $4 ($1/person). Another star because we actually did not know this until we were paying. The worker didn't warn or tell us about the fee. I understand that there could've been something else in the bottle but it would've been nice for the worker to tell us beforehand like "hey, just a heads up it's going to be a $1 charge per person to bring in the hydro flask." He obviously saw it and decided to charge us, so it's not like he didn't know we didn't have it. Had he done that, we would've just put the bottle back in the car to avoid the fee. But come on.. I think water should at least be allowed free of charge. People get thirsty and need to rehydrate from all the singing! We also came during day so it wasn't busy but there were people in a few other rooms. I used to go there when I was in high school so when my kid wanted to do karaoke I found this spot. We scheduled one hour for her and 3 friends for her 16th birthday and they had a blast! We celebrated my daughter's birthday in June at the Fountain Valley location and it was a great experience. The sound system was great. We used tablets to select music and we were in room 5. For this reason we decided to celebrate my 47th birthday at the same location. We were given the same room number and were told that the system had changed and now you scan a QR and it all runs on your mobile device via your wifi. We were given the same room number for my party of 18. The AC did not work for the 2.5 hrs that we are there! It was so hot in the room that we had to be given a small fan to help circulate the air STRIKE 1. The new app system SUCKS! There is very little music variety and no new artists or current artists like Taylor Swift or Benson Boone or Bad Bunny. Nothing from this century at all STRIKE 2. We then tried using the YouTube feature and it was a terrible! The image was pixelate so we couldn't read the lyrics. The songs would stop every couple of second. It was very frustrating. I spoke to the gentleman at the desk and he didn't offer any solutions. He said I think too many people are on the wifi! STRIKE 3. It was supposed to be a great and fun celebration and it turned into a frustrating and expensive event! I paid over $500 for crappie karaoke!!! Been here a number of times over the years. Always a good time. Max uses the healsonic app - so you can preload all your favorites so you don't have to search catalogs and all that. The app lets you search songlists for English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, French, German, Hawaiian, Hindi, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Thai, and Vietnamese. I didn't list Korean because I think you still need to ask for one of those TJ Media devices - the Healsonic app didn't pull any Korean songs.... for me at least. If Healsonic doesn't have what you want you can request a song - Max's website has a link for that if you want to go that route. But really that isn't even necessary because Healsonic now actually let's you call up youtube karaoke videos as well. Sky's the limit.. or at least youtube's the limit. Rooms have always been decent and they sell drinks if you need hydration. Whoever's working there will come by with the 5 minute warning sign so you can fit in a short but sweet song before calling it a day... or night. I recently went here with some friends because we looked up the song selection beforehand and it seemed to have a decent selection. You can look up what songs they have using the app called Healsonic. I also had a 10% off coupon that I got when eating at Hungry Boy Thai Cafe. Pros/Cons: Pros: good location, clean rooms, no issues getting a room (it was empty on a weeknight), can look up songs beforehand, ability to use the Healsonic app to easily request songs and put them in the queue, fee to bring in your own food and drinks is $1 per person Cons: pricey for karaoke (the ones in Garden Grove are a fraction of the price), we were falsely charged the fee for bringing in food/drinks when we did not have any food or drinks Parking/Location: Max Karaoke is located in a well kept plaza in Fountain Valley that has a few other restaurants nearby. There's plenty of parking. Max Karaoke has a decent amount of rooms. On a weeknight, we didn't have an issue getting a room since we were the only group there. The inside is very clean. Service: There was only one employee there and he seemed a little passive. This isn't an issue with me but we would later find out after leaving the karaoke place that he charged our group an extra fee for bringing in food/drinks. We didn't have any food or drinks with us whatsoever so I was confused why we were charged that fee. I'm not gonna return just to get a refund for just a few dollars, but I found it odd. I advise you to check your receipt. Pricing: The prices are listed on the website and vary by group size. For us, each person in our group of 4 was $11 each person, per hour plus tax (and the fee they falsely charged us with). They do have happy hour pricing from 1-7 pm that seems like much more fair pricing. Song Selection/Room: The rooms are clean and don't feel cramped. You can select songs by either using the provided tablet or downloading the Healsonic app and syncing it with the karaoke system. I do think this is an easy and convenient way to quickly select and add songs. Speaking of, there are a ton of great songs to choose from, both old and new. The microphones and sound system don't seem to be the best quality, but they were good enough for us. Overall: As someone who loves doing karaoke, this isn't a bad spot to go with a group. It's pricier than average, but the song selection system is updated and improved. I would still return despite the mistake on our receipt. read more

They have great happy hour prices and are open during the daytime. I met my friend here and we sang our hearts out for 1 hour. It came out to about $13. They sanitize really well. They are good about time, about 5 -10 minutes before your time ends, they come by with a sign to alert you thru the window. The had a great selection and had every song we wanted. read more

By far the best karaoke studio in OC. I used to visit them all the time in DTLA. In DTLA you would have to make a reservation a few days in advance or you would not get a room. This is how awesome they are! They have the best song selection around, many languages. You use the iPad or you can download an app on your phone to input the songs. You can search by artist or song title also, so no more fumbling through a giant telephone book of songs. The staff is super friendly, if you have any technical difficulties or just want a snack, let them know. They sell lots of snacks and drinks and even ramen bowls for those late night munchies! It's an amazing deal that you can bring in your own wine or beer and snacks for only $1 per person. Absolutely enjoyed this place, it's modern equipment and sound system is awesome. I used to come to this strip mall and karaoke at Elvis. And now, I am glad to see the torch has been passed on. Gone are the binders of songs, it's all neatly organized in a mini ipad and easy to navigate. It just get a little bit of getting used to a digital version as in the pass you flip through the pages of songs and helps you pick a song. Service is friendly, I just wished there is an option to record your singing session to painfully listen to yourself sing in the privacy of your car, alone with no passengers to listen to your wailing. Love this place!! They're currently having happy hours so the price is very affordable. Upon entering, they'll have you sign a waver and let you know bringing in food and drinks will have a fee. The system uses an iPad that has the Healsonic which is an app that lets you search up songs you want. It's really easy to use! The app has foreign songs too, like Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish. The workers were really nice too. We were helped by Kazu and he was really kind, letting us know how much time we had left and helping us out when we had technical difficulties. Initially, the lack of reviews scared me, but this place may have just become one of my new regular go-tos! I came with 3 other friends on a Tuesday afternoon at around 2. It was a slow day, but the worker was super sweet. His name was Kazu if I remember correctly, and he was very helpful explaining the sound system and how the ipad works to pick songs. They have a pretty solid variety of music in multiple languages, and i highly recommend to anyone looking for a karaoke place. When we left, he also gave us a discount voucher. 10/10 recommend read more
