I have been to this place in the past and I never really thought much of it, until I spend a Sunday afternoon in their patio and understood the varied wonders that this place held for many a bloke, including me and maybe even a tourist from Alabama. The draw for this place on this Sunday afternoon was their music band: Rayford Bros. I took a video of one the members singing Pretty Woman Walking down the Block. Hard to believe but I have never seen the flick, and I have never really heard the song. But both were familiar because how can one not know Pretty Woman in song and movie, unless they are a newborn or a not too old infant. So it was cool hearing music that I was familiar with. Because if it was a Guns and Roses or My Chemical Romance my ear would have not been able to name that tune, and I think that would have not permitted me from having a good time. I took care to take a picture of their calendar, that was outside in the patio, to ensure that they had a record to consult if they wanted to hear the warbling of the Tres Hombres that are next on deck. The music, though, it created an environment that rocked with joy and crowd. There was a couple-- octogenerians, I think. With all due respect to them, they were in their sunset years, but, if I get to be old like them, I would consider my life worth its billion steps. This couple were dressed like 50's inspired rockers. They were dancing, setting the patio floor ablaze. The woman tried to jump on the arms of the gray-haired rocker to do that move where she swings from one side to the other, while her legs kick the air. She jumped. But there was no kicking or swinging. But she jumped. That kind of movement on the dance floor is the meaning of dance like no one is watching all while knowing that an audience is present watching the blind dance! The crowd formed outside due to the music. A mom and dad danced with their kid. They could have held a different story but I went with what I assumed to be traditional because there were was enough visual evidence that they were a tranditional man-wife-kid couple. The dog was missng. I wanted to sit in the patio. There were no open tables. I asked a solo diner if me and my friend Conrad could share his talbe and he said yes. A small act of kindness that made my day better. The drink and food was also all worthy of gold stars. I approached the bartender and apparently one has to order food and drink from him I told him my spirit of choice and the fact that I liked sweet drinks. He concocted me a menu item--- a cucumber watermelon mixture, I think that was super great and refreshing! Which was nice because this particular restaurant sits by the water. So a breezy drink seemed more appropriate for the envirnonment. The stranger who we sat with, shared his mozzarella sticks with us. Superb. They were perfectly browned and not like a cylender shape more like a three-dimensional design. I had their loaded tate tots and they were garbage food in the best possible way. The fried goodness of the top had all these layers of flavor--- cream, mustard, chives. And then once topped with pastrami that was thick and cut all super well it became fit for Oscar the Grouch. I think that is the sesame Character that lives in a trash can. Junk food dismisses the value of hearty and greasy food calling the best garbage food paints food that was retreieved from a dumpster and made it to a bounty for the gut. My friend Conrad had a BLTA. I tasted the BLTA and the bacon is the stuff one dreams about---- the type of bacon that makes people go wow this bacon is thick in a real way. It is not thick in I am flattering myself for clout and likes kind of way. True pleasure to enjoy, and I only had one bite. But sometimes a bite is enough to understand the promise of the whole sandwich, that in this case was cut in half. We decided to try this restaurant on a trip to Long Beach. We sat ourselves at an outdoor table and the host came over fairly quickly to bring us menus and take our drink orders. We decided to order the Fish and Chips as it was recommended by the host, the Kilkenny Burger, and Irish Whiskey Steak. The fish and chips came with one very large piece of breaded fish. The fish was cooked well and was flaky. I did think it was oily because by the time I was cutting into it, the grease soaked into the bottom of the fish and it the breading was a little soggy. The burger was tasty, but had the same problem. The bottom bun became very soggy as it was dripping with extra grease. We ordered the steak medium rare, but received it rare instead. The steak was still tasty and the mashed potatoes and sauce were good and flavorful. As we were ending our lunch, a band set up outside. They asked us if the speaker level was ok as we were sitting a little close. I thought that was very considerate of them to ask. They said they were a Sublime inspired band and played some awesome reggae tunes, so much so that I was almost late to my other commitment as I did not want to leave. Located in Shoreline Village and very convenient walk on the overpass if you are staying at the Hyatt. Fun atmosphere, with live music on the night we were there. The staff is friendly if a little slow on the service side. Our server was doing multiple jobs on a busy evening , serving and bar tending so each suffered a bit. There were 4 of us. We shared the guac and chips (the chips were the colors of the Irish flag), really good and recommend. I had the corned beef sliders, and one family member had the full corned beef and cabbage plate. We both agree the corned beef was exceptional, but the horseradish sauce was so mild you couldn't taste the horseradish at all (and with the slow service we had no opportunity to ask for straight horseradish to enhance it) Two went with fish, one the fish and chips, one the grilled Mahi with mango salsa. Both throughly enjoyed their meals. The biggest disappointment of the evening was the bread pudding. My brother LOVES bread pudding, if it's on the menu, he is ordering it. This one was terrible. Very dry, and if there was the whiskey glaze on it, he couldn't find it. It was so bad he didn't eat it, and the server didn't offer to take it off the bill either. If you are driving, the parking is paid, but most restaurants will validate so your fee is lowered. read more

We found an amazing spot from a man name Doug a local in the Shoreline village just by asking him, is the food good ? Curtis was awesome we were going to Louisiana Charles, but they just could not get their customer service together! It was a terrible set up!!! I walked in found Curtis and he said "sit anywhere I'll come out and take your order"! Perfect! I'm so happy with the set up already! We walked here from our hotel, a couple of Miles away and across the bridge. We were looking for food, as our hotel only served breakfast, and we wanted to get snacks and water for the room anyway. Our look online led us here to Shoreline Village. (We have a Shenanigans here in Chicago but I have never been there!) The area is perfect for a restaurant, near a harbor with boats and a view of the water (reminds me of Navy Pier), so we sat outside, esp when we heard there was to be live music. We wanted some quiet and to hear ourselves talk. Instead of the QR code way to order, a waitress came and took our orders in person. That was a nice touch, esp after poor Lauren G's ordeal! It was a Thursday early evening, not many customers. We ordered beers, and the waitress was nice enough to provide samples of the draft beer before committing to a pint. I like trying local beers so I got the Firestone Cali Blood Orange beer. It was good, so I got that and my party got a special happy hour vodka well drink. We ordered the fish tacos and corned beef sliders. We only wanted appetizers and they both hit the spot! They were moist with plenty of meat. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I was not too fond of the bathroom situation of 'all gender' but they were fairly clean. The live band came on and they were pretty good, but we sat in the front while they performed in the back. If I sit inside I would probably watch sports on the nice tvs around the bar, but I liked the 'jukebox' music. We actually had a really good time here. They have music on Sundays. The band was pretty fun. We had the patio to ourselves for most of our time. Some people did come out to smoke. We played some pool, had some food and drinks. The staff was very friendly, although there were times when they would ignore you at the bar. You would say excuse me, and they would pretend they didn't hear you. I find this behavior unacceptable. It takes only a couple of seconds to acknowledge someone presence and say "I'll be right with you". Our food was ordered and never came out, we waited an excess of an hour and a half to two hours and finally asked what happened. We got some ridiculous story about it coming out and being sent to the wrong table even though the waitress told me she put "pool" and even checked and confirmed that she had requested it come to the pool table. We never left the pool table so I didn't like that either. I don't like to be gaslit, and it's becoming incredibly common in restaurant and corporations to do so. I had the fish tacos, and my friend had the fish and chips. They were not the best I've ever had, nor the worst. I asked for more cabbage. I never got it. I asked again and still didn't get it. Unfortunately the oil definitely needed to be changed. And the temperature on the fry was also off. It sat in the oil for a very long time so it was extra oily. (It later ended up giving me terrible heartburn and a sour stomach. No good.) I spoke to Levi, the manager, and explained the issue and he was kind enough to hear me out, but I doubt they're going to do anything about it. Seems silly to not take heartfelt feedback for improvement. Their yelp reviews clearly needed it! It's a real bummer. When places that have a captive audience such a shoreline village, do not want to improve but keep the status quo. All in all, I liked the place. All I had was a BLT, mozzarella sticks and a water. When I got back to my hotel room, I saw I was charged $78!! I realized I hadn't closed my tab and thought maybe they charge you an insane fee for that. No. It must close automatically when you leave- great. I would never dine and dash so I was relieved it is set up to prevent that from happening. But then I looked at my bill. I immediately tried to call the bar back multiple times and no one answered and it didn't go to voicemail. I emailed them immediately. I was relieved they responded early the next morning. I gave every ounce of detail I possibly could to indicate I'm not trying to pull one over on them. The response was they can't prove it and I should have dealt with it at the bar. Well, back to the fact I didn't close my tab- it automatically closed when I left and it's a third party vendor so there was nothing I could do to have fixed this. And to top it off, thank god I took a screen grab of the web browser because they also never emailed me a receipt. So basically their bartender made a mistake and they are letting the customer take the fall. Who in their right mind would spend 6 days now trying to get this dealt with, just to get one over on the restaurant? This restaurant has no integrity and does not care at all about trying to fix a blatant mistake on their end. Been going to Shoreline Village for over 30 years. First time setting foot in this establishment. To my surprise it was very comfortable. Live music, good ambiance, great energy and delicous food. We have been to Shenanigans many times before and it is mostly OK. Our visit was this past Sunday. There was a live band which is always appreciated and the Rams game was on, which was also a plus. It was busy, but not crazy busy, it took a very long time for anyone to acknowledge us at our table, so we ordered our drinks from the bar. After more than half an hour, we had to ask the bartender is we can order some food, they said that our server knows we are there and that they will be with us soon. 45 minutes into our visit we finally meet our server. I order my food and wait patently. We have 2 more rounds of drinks and other people are getting their food, which was puzzling because we had been there over an hour now and those people came in way after us. So almost 2 hours into our visit and more than an hour since I ordered, we flag down another server and ask if we can see how much longer will an order of chicken fingers and fries will take. She checks her little ipad and says that the order was never placed, but we actually seen our server punch the order into his little ipad. This is located right at shoreline village, around a half mile walk from the aquarium. Staff were friendly and helpful, though service was a bit slow due to the Long Beach Marathon. I'm not sure they expected the crowd of people looking for breakfast first thing on a Sunday morning! The breakfast food was fairly standard diner-style food with decent prices. It's not something I'd crave, but definitely something I'd eat again. This is a live music/sports bar. It's very casual, a little dark, and has a lot of high top tables.
