Popcorn!!!
Rudy M.

I've been to this place three times now, and for St. Patrick's Day I decided this was a spot. I was gonna enjoy my day at. It was a hot one, but they had the AC running inside and that made drinking the green beer so enjoyable. The bartenders Evan and Britney were very nice and looked after me and everyone else I came up to the bar for beers, always asking if they wanted their beer green. Their food selection on that day was tremendously great. I had the corned beef on wheat bread and it was toast, toasted wheat bread to boot. With a cheese, and everything else that came with it, I was happily pleased with it all. Especially the carrot that tasted like pickled because it was laying on one. I will never forget that taste that I enjoyed so much on that day. The prices for beer are actually impressively cheap. I really have no complaints on this place and I think that what they do to get people's names on the wall for drinking 70 different beers from all around the world is really cool. I might have to try it one day. Thanks to all the people at Murphy's for putting on a great St. Patrick's Day for this fan. Oh, and by the way, they make such good popcorn. I used to have it at a different bar as a kid and then brought me back to those days.

The best! Service is spot on. Food is Michelin star worthy. Healthy options. More than 70 options for beer. Good wine. Great views. Sports!

Came by Murphys on St. Patrick's day and it was a really cool spot. After going up the flight of stairs you reach a nicely air conditioned bar with great customer service. The beer was iced cold and we had some freshly made popcorn. The bartender was really nice and welcoming. Overall the vibes were cool.

I had never been here before but my friend suggested we meet here as our first stop for our bar hopping day. It wasn't very busy as we got there about 12:30pm (we love us some day drinking ;) The patio seating is nice with a cool view of 2nd street. We shared some nachos that were tasty. The other food sounded good too. I would go back again.

Blimey!! What a cute Irish pub!! I loveeeee Irish pubs! The whole vibe and dark, coziness that usually comes with the experience. All the clovers and colors of the Irish flag (green, white, orange). It's just a great time! The food and service I experienced were both good. And my friend's enjoyed the alcoholic beverages. I really liked the staircase entrance to get to the pub. Adorable.

Guinness

Just beer and wine no whiskey so it loses a star for that. No Harp on draft or Smithwicks the only Irish beer was Guinness. But they do have cans or bottles of O'Hara's Stout and Wexford plus a ton of other cans of beers from all over the place. Food is sandwiches and salads mostly. Nothing too exciting but satisfying nonetheless. Service was great and the patio overlooking Second St from the second floor is nice for late afternoon drinking.

I love Murphy's!! It's a great place to sit out in the balcony and watch people along 2nd Street or inside watching a game. To me it's a hidden gem, their sandwiches are piled with meats and cheese, plus it comes with a side salad, chips and salsa, or potato chips. It's a real bargain. My go to is the shore shuffle minus the center bread, squaw bread double toasted provolone with a side salad. The ranch dressing is so yummy. They have pickled eggs that I think beat Joe Jost's. I ask for no black pepper (my preference) Their pop corn is irresistible, once an order passes you you'll understand. Beer is cold and plenty of choices and the locals are cool, eh me being one of them. Oh it's dog friendly to boot!!

Nice view of the gym
Emma W.

There was an absolutely beautiful view of the gym below us on one side. On the other, an adequate view of second street.

The bartender shortchanged me and I didn't get a receipt. Sketchy place that will take their own tips from you.

We were seated right away and our server was at our table shortly after. I ordered the Caesar Salad w/Salmon, and I have to tell you...I rarely get it cooked to perfection, but today was my lucky day! It was not overcooked and sat atop a huge Caesar Salad with delicious croutons that had to be made in house, because the butter that was drizzled on the croutons was fresh and not pre-made. I think our 11000 steps put a little dent into our lunch. Thankfully we didn't order dessert! We will definitely be back since it's a short walk from home, and hubby was so impressed with their Oktoberfest beer that he purchased a growler...which we will obviously have to refill!

That ended up being a very good decision. I went with the mussels and garlic bread, and both were excellent. The mussels were fresh, flavorful, and perfect for soaking up with the bread. It was simple, satisfying, and exactly the kind of seafood meal I was hoping for near the beach. I also really liked the atmosphere. It has that relaxed coastal brewpub feel where it's easy to sit down, have a drink, and lose track of time a little bit. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer. I would've liked to try a few more beers and spend more time there instead of treating it like a quick stop. Overall, a really enjoyable experience and a great spontaneous find. Next time I'm in Long Beach, I'd definitely come back with a little more time to spare.

Was always a little intimidated by the place for some reason because of the curtain kinda hiding what the inside looked like. It was my husband's birthday yesterday and we first went over to Blondies however he said he was calling it a night and went home. Myself and 7 other family members walked over to The Annex. The moment you walk in, you can tell everyone there is a regular. Bartender was so sweet and got our drink order. My SIL, cousin and I started to strike up a conversation with the regulars next to us. I think one briefly mentioned Blondies and we were like oh we just came from there! We talked about sports and then one had his cousin from Scotland there and the conversation just flowed. We truly felt so welcomed. I wish i remembered all their names but I am just terrible with those things! If you guys see this, I'm so sorry haha but thank you so much for your kindness and telling us your stories! As we left, we all hugged these awesome strangers. It was really really cool. Btw -- it's a beer bar, cash only. The place is dim and very long. The whole center is the bar/seating area which was kinda cool. The way it's set up it's as if it forces you to have conversations with others. There's also a shuffle board table. Bartender said they bring in food sometimes so we will definitely be back!

I can honestly say, we weren't missing out on anything. It was alright. Just normal dive bar, which we do enjoy, but this one didn't do much for us. Not sure if it was how the area/bar was set up but it was just eh/whatever. Now that we checked that off the list we don't, and probably won't, need to go back. Only if some friends wanted to meet up there for a quick beer, we wouldn't be opposed, but we may suggest somewhere else.

It was pretty much empty in the main bar area and not really full in the patio area. We didn't know what to expect on the weekend as to how busy it might be. We lucked out. Our server was great. She was very helpful when we asked about the beers on tap and offered us samplers to help make up our minds. We ended up getting the Moose Drool dark beer and just gloved it. We ordered an unusual appetizer called an Irish egg-roll. Corned beef and Swiss rolled in an egg-roll batter. These were fantastic. Really good. For our main coarse I ordered the special of swordfish wrap with steak fries. Absolutely great. My wife had the fire burger with a side of fruit. She loved it. I've seen a few negative reviews of the place but our experience was truly 5 star. Great service, great food and great atmosphere. We will absolutely be back. Well done everybody.
