The weather was nice and a friend recommended this place so we tried this place for an evening by the bay. Seating is on a First Come First Serve basis and its based on whoever grabs an empty table first. So it creates a bit of a mess with seating options. Once you are seated, the views are fantastic ! You order through barcode on the table and food gets delivered. Service is a major challenge here and refills on my Soda were hard to come by. Food is passable. Ballast is a Long Beach staple. I've been here a few times, it's a great place for big groups if you want to have a meal and drinks. The views are by far the most amazing part of ballast. The sunset and dolphins that you see create great ambiance. If you come in a big group there are QR codes you can order from or go up to the bar to get a drink. This time I sat at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive. This time I tried the empanadas that was amazing! Great taste and portion! The wine was also served in a nice chilled glass. But after arriving and seeing the beautiful view of the surrounding Marina, I could see why it was there. We dined upstairs on the roof, it was a warm sunny day with a nice ocean breeze. The staff was very helpful, the menu offered a great variety of options. I had the Birria Tacos which were awesome and the beer wasn't bad either. They also had a nice souvenir area up front. Update: I went up to the beautiful top deck today to celebrate a friend's bday...and the view is sooooo gorgeous and there was shade...and the food was yummy and it was so fun up there... The waitress moving around rapidly made an impression on me, that they have maybe figured out their ordering, preparing, delivering system. The only downside I have with this place, is I hate their QR code that you have to scan to order your food and drinks (Some people love this, some hate it) unfortunately, I have terrible phone service out here. if you do not have good service or do not want to use the code, you can go up to the bar and place your order -Since it's not your typical order and wait service, they have waiters just making their rounds helping everyone. The person who helped us the most was, Soky. He was absolutely great They are on the water with a nice view of the marina and you can sit here and do some boat watching (it's gorgeous if you come here during sunset) the outdoor seating is very spacious. They even have a second level for a rooftop outdoor view. Just gonna start off by saying that I love being able to have a beer by the ocean and they have a fair amount of patio seating with great ocean views. I got their burger and my boyfriend got their flatbread pizza. We've both had better flatbread pizza but the burger was solid. We visited on a Monday evening (6 pm). There was plenty of parking. You can just walk in and choose your own table upstairs or downstairs. Upstairs has 1 bar. Downstairs has 2 bars and various TV's. There are also 2 sets of restrooms downstairs. Both areas have very nice beach views. Service- You can order food & drinks at the bar or via a QR code. The service was great at the bar. I was able to sample my drink before ordering. They bring you the food and ask you if you want anything else. Food- we ordered the Peach Cider 5/5, well done hamburger & garlic parmesan fries 5/5, wings 4/5 and the Sculpin beer 4/5 (too hoppy). The wings left a slight ting in your mouth. This Ballast Point in Long Beach has a great view of the waters and great food. I came for a Saturday lunch and it was extremely packed. Although the parking lot is big, it was difficult finding a spot. Inside is huge. There's outdoor seating, upstairs, in doors in the first floor. However, because of how crowded it was, finding a good spot was also tricky. Patients is virtue! For food, I tried the pastrami fries, flatbread pizza, and Cobb salad. They did a great job on these items and the portions were notable. Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience at Ballast Point. I hope they accept reservations for smaller parties in the future. Came here on a Saturday evening for a mini high school reunion with about 12 friends. Many of us hadn't seen each other in over 20 years, so it was a very special gathering. The place was packed, and parking was difficult to find, likely because there were basketball games on and lots of people were there to watch. They don't take reservations, so finding seating for our group was a challenge. We initially tried moving some chairs together, but the staff informed us that wasn't allowed. I was a bit frustrated and asked to speak with the manager. Thankfully, Will, the manager, was very understanding and worked with us, allowing us to keep at least one sofa chair so our group could be a little more comfortable. There were two separate seating areas available, but we really wanted to stay together. Once we got settled, we ordered fish and chips, chicken wings, pizza, and skirt steak. The fish and chips, wings, and pizza were good, but the skirt steak was quite tough and had to be sent back. We also enjoyed a few glasses of sangria. Our server was accommodating throughout the evening, and sitting outside gave us a beautiful view of the sunset. I drove over an hour to get here, and despite the seating challenges, I'm glad I made the trip for the reunion. The prices were reasonable, the atmosphere was lively, and overall we had a great time catching up and reminiscing after two decades apart. read more

This was my first time coming to Ballast Point, and I had a blast. I went with my wife to watch some of the World Cup games, and the vibe was amazing! TVs in every corner, great views, and tasty food. The ordering setup was very unique. The whole place is open seating, and once you find a table, you scan the QR code located on it to start ordering your food and drinks. Food and beverages arrived within minutes of ordering. I got the BP 66 lager cuz they were doing a deal for $5! This review is specifically regarding the food. We visited the restaurant to celebrate a birthday, and my daughter ordered a burger cooked medium. We requested it this way because we wanted it to be more thoroughly cooked. When the burger arrived, the meat was noticeably pink in the center. However, because it had been prepared and served by the restaurant, we trusted that it was safe to eat and did not think it would be an issue. Unfortunately, the following morning, my daughter became very ill. She experienced repeated vomiting--approximately 20 times--and was unable to keep food or liquids down. The rest of our family ate other menu items and did not experience any symptoms. Since she was the only one who ate the burger, we are concerned that her illness may have been related to the undercooked meat. While we cannot say with certainty what caused her symptoms, we felt it was important to share our experience so the restaurant can review its food preparation practices and other customers can make informed decisions. read more

One of my favorite breweries because this one has food!!!! I will admit that the wait to get a table is LONG; you do want to come in expect to wait about 30 minutes or sit at the bar until a table opens. I always sit at the bar and then switch to a table by the windows. It's open seating so if you're waiting at the bar close out as you go so you can leave when you see an open table. They have a good selection of beers; sours, IPA, fruity beers, stouts, and light beers. You will find something and if you don't like beer, they have cocktails too! I believe they're rice wine but honestly they taste great (last visit I had the horchata cocktail and it was splendid and delicious). I absolutely love coming here because the windows show the shore and the boats are riding around; this time we got to see all the Christmas boats with their lights it was a beautiful little Christmas water parade! You have to order through a QR code so not the best for people who prefer menus but I'm a millennial so I'm on my phone regardless, so I don't mind. We got the nachos and wings which were both delicious; they come with a cheese sauce which is way better in my opinion than a little sprinkled cheese ontop, since you can scoop the sauce with your chip making it extra creamy and flavorful for every bite rather than dry cheese ontop.
