Service was really great. They were out of a lot of beer due to the World Cup going on and people buying pitchers. But I was still able to order one I liked. Fries were good. Plenty of tvs and seating area. What I wasn't crazy about: - menu viewing online for beers doesn't tell you what kind of beer it is. It just states the name. You'd have to go up to the bar and read it or ask the waitress every question you have bc you wouldn't know why type of beer something was just by looking at a mobile device. - Pizza was very standard or just below par. We were looking forward to NY style pizza and the crust and undercarriage just didn't really work. Bottom didn't hold well and the crust just lacked freshness in my opinion. Decided to give it a try today after a walk and it was They have traditional drinks as well as seasonal long beach inspired drinks which I recommend you try if you have the opportunity to do so. I ordered a seasonal drink I forgot the name I'm sorry but it was earl grey tea with cream and something else very refreshing. I also ordered the pistachio croissant, Altar Society breakfast burrito and a couple pup cups for my boys. Burrito 10/10 definitely would be back to try their other burritos and they are decently sized as well. The vibe is cool I've been before but if you haven't it's an old masonic temple I believe. Original wood flooring, kept a lot of the old character of the building which I personally appreciate with every other business making everything new and flashy. Came here as part of my annual beer walk festival. This is where we ultimately stopped to eat lunch as well. Very spacious so easily we were able to get ourselves a nice big table. We ultimately just split some food. The food is really good. The variety of beers were really nice. Highly recommend this spot. We came early in morning had there breakfast burrito it was tasty a nice size. Also had their vanilla lattes with house vanilla syrup and brown sugar. It was smooth. I love Altar Society!! Such a great brewery with casual vibes and I've frequented it many times whenever sporting events are on. They have a pretty good list of beers and there's usually something new I can try every time I go. I recently had a gathering for my husband's birthday here and they were so accommodating with letting us rent out the back cafe area for a small per person fee. Service is always friendly and efficient whenever I come. Street parking is limited in the surrounding areas so I usually park in the structure on 3rd & Pine. Their pizzas are tasty and I like that they offer by the slice as well. Definitely a go to brewery! read more

I parked at the lot on 3rd and Pine, so this location was a bit hidden while crossing the street. That entrance is for the coffee shop, but if you enter across from Marathon Burger, that's directly into the brewery. The service was great and the interior was kind of dead in a peaceful way. No one loud or obnoxious. I ordered a slice of pepperoni & sausage, Pine Ave IPA, and the small 8 piece wings with Lemon Pepper and Thai Chili sauce on the side. We are visiting from out of town and thought of this looks good. If you want good wings they do have good wings. Other than that I wouldn't order anything else. We ordered 2 slices of pizza, the pepperoni looked ok. The white pizza my son said it lacked flavor, limp crust, and just meh he gave it a 2/10. I ordered the French dip and sent it back. It had a cinnamon or nutmeg flavor, not something I've experienced before. A French dip is my usual go to. Service was extremely SLOW! I have noticed this at quite a few restaurants in the area on our weekend there. Not sure if help is needed or help is not being scheduled. Our server was nice but wasn't spot on with food descriptions. Oh and the chips are NOT FRESH! They are not made to order and lack flavor. They serve your food on trays but the plates are paper and plastic silverware . They did have proper glass wear but lacked in the food department. And it's pricey. For 4 of us and one of our food items removed it was almost $200. Yes we did have cocktails but didn't order a lot. If you are looking for some good food I'd look elsewhere read more

Made a last minute pivot to Altar as the original place that we wanted to go to was packed with an approx 1 hour wait. Family in the area recommended that I pay a visit. Service: Came in around 9pm with a party of 5. Place is self seating and we were fortunate to find a spot just in front of the taps. Advised staff that we were first time visitors and requested recommendation. Staff member assisting was helpful and pleasant. Our drinks came out approximately 2-3 minutes while our food took around 5 minutes. Very fast turnaround. 5 of 5 stars. Food/Offering: Our group got the Tropical Golden and POG seltzers. Didn't really deviate from my drink as we were kinda pressed for time. The Tropical Golden is a very light, tropical tasting ale. I enjoyed this pour a lot (had 3). I'm not surprised if this is one of their top 3 beers on tap. The POG, according to the fam, it's just like your normal seltzer however the tropical flavors do stand out versus your usual commercial stuff. We also sliders and pretzel bites to share. Bites were very good. Also, I purchased a 4 pack of Tropical Golden to go =) 5 of 5 stars. Overall: As a first time visitor, I enjoyed my experience and highly recommend. Came here yesterday with a friend to do some work in the back at the cafe, but it was closed. The waiter was great though, she grabbed me one of the herbal teas from the cafe and we grabbed a couple slices for lunch. My friend and I worked here for several hours on a Friday afternoon. They waiter was awesome and checked in with us throughout our time, filling our waters, removing things from the table and letting us work away for a few hours. They also have WiFi if needed. I've been here many times before to watch a game, even to do yoga upstairs a couple times. Each time I appreciate how versatile this space is. This review is for the venue upstairs. I have had a couple of slices of pizza at Altar Society Brewing which were good, but I have frequented the beautiful venue many times for events, mostly by Secret Service LBC. It was originally a Masonic temple built in 1903 with a really high wooden ceiling, which has been well preserved with ornate paintings. At the end of the building, there's a cool geometric wood design that serves as a focal point, especially when the disco ball in the center of it reflects light throughout the room. Multiple chandeliers are hung throughout and the walls are lined with brick. There is even a third level with a smaller room, restrooms and a bar. The third level also has a lovely bridal suite that remains locked for privacy. The bartenders have all been awesome, especially Casey, who took good care of my friends and I who performed on Halloween. I love this venue and will continue to go as long as there are events here! It would be a great place for a wedding too. Street parking is available in the area as well as a structure on 3rd between Pine and LB Blvd that is free for the first 2 hours. read more

Went here for a wedding reception. It's a decent reception space - open floors and no obvious hazards. Parking is in a nearby structure and wasn't bad by long beach standards. Everything plumbing wise was clean and worked. Same with elevator. People associated with venue seemed nice and helpful. The food was good, but not sure how much of that was on them. (If you've been around a while you might remember this space as an eclectic furniture place back in the day.) read more

My friend and I wanted some pizza and went to another restaurant but it was full. We walked further along the blvd and saw this restaurant and tried it out. We found parking a few blocks away and it was not a far walk. Once we got in, we sat and I walked to the bar to order. It is a seat yourself environment. We decided to go with the veggie pizza but did not notice the pesto drizzle on the menu. When we received the pizza it was super hot and the bread was a little stiff, cant find the right word but it wasn't hard. The pizza lacked cheese and had more veggie and pesto drizzle then anything. We decided to add a salad just for some greenery with the bread. I ordered an IPA which was not bad but the other options were OK. The inside vibe is super cool! We really liked the Pine st IPA. Also, the food is really good. We had the Chicken Zingers and the Alter single sliders -- upgraded to tots. The Zingers are def made in house and were delicious! The sliders were also very good and do yourself a favor and get those tots! The only reason it's not a 5 is because the guy behind the bar (slick back blonde hair and mustache (sort of)) was an ass. He acted like he was doing us a favor to even get us a beer. The other guy, who might be the manager or owner who was running food, was awesome and made up for it. But seriously need to get rid of the other guy because he sucks!!! read more

A large brewery setting offering a great selection on tap, awesome pizza and community events upstairs. I was able to catch the game here and meet friends plenty of time. The pizza is a bit pricey but when they make it well, its mind blowing. Seasonal beers are fun but tastings are offered to ensure you choose the right one. I visited the cafe part of Altar Society and had such yummy drinks and food! I got an iced Horchata Latte which was good, but the winner was definitely the Queen Mary (mocha with orange zest) which I got hot and with oatmilk. I could literally smell the orange zest so strongly through the lid which I loved because usually when I get espresso/darker flavored drinks with another fruity favor, the espresso/darker flavor tends to overpower the fruity flavor. But not with this drink! It was so delicious and I highly recommend! I also got the LBC Breakfast Sando which came with a generous side of tater tots. Not only did the food come out fast, the food was so yummy as well! The sando was full of flavor and big enough that I took part of it togo. The tater tots were so crispy and hot, just the way I like it! The service was amazing as well. The barista (Haley) and a young tall gentleman kindly greeted us and gave us big smiles as we walked through the door. Another server with blonde hair and glasses was also very friendly and lovely to chat with! However, while I was there chatting with friends, there were two male employees in the cafe area who were having a loud conversation about work-related topics that may not have been appropriate to discuss near customers. One of them was also behind the cafe counter when the other barista (Haley) was helping another customer out, and he didn't even acknowledge us with a greeting or even a smile or nod like Haley did. I've worked in the food service industry as a barista and line cook before so I'm aware of satisfactory customer service, but I can't say I was a fan of his. This is why I took a star of the rating. Overall, I highly recommend the cafe and the Queen Mary drink will definitely rock your boat :) read more

Came in the other day and grabbed a coffee that was absolutely delicious. I asked the barista to surprise me and she delivered with this delicious drink. She made me a brown sugar vanilla latte with salted cold foam! And she explained how she made all the syrups herself! 10/10 The music was a bit lack luster; a bit of a mood killer. This place had been on my list for a while especially after Congregation Ale House closed. We ventured into the DTLB area last night with no real destination in mind, but stumbled upon their door as we were making our way down Pine. It's self-seating and family friendly. Order at the bar or sit and someone will come around to take your order. It wasn't really crowded on a Saturday evening, and the vibes were great! The music was serving classic 90s joints and there were tvs all around playing various college games. We ordered the meat lovers pizza and half/half wings (lemon pepper and buffalo) and a couple of drinks. Not only was the food SOLID, we couldn't finish the pizza and it made for great lunch leftovers today! I think we found our new spot!! We'll be back for sure! read more

I have been here a few times during the Long Beach Warped Tour season and this place doesn't disappoint. Came across this spot last year on our 2nd day and got a few rounds of drinks and food. I wanted to try this place again this weekend and it only got better to me. The drink selection (full bar and beers) are all fantastic. The food is so delicious. We tried the tenders yesterday and the wings today and both were fantastic. Festival food is so expensive and not worth the price. You get your moneys worth here. Very satisfied with the food and drinks. And the service is amazing. Kenyan and Kelly were on top of it asking if we needed anything. I gotta try the cafe section next time. Anytime I visit somewhere new, I like to find local breweries with their own goods for sale. I walked past the place on my way to the harbor after lunch earlier, and it really stands out from the street as an inviting place. I decided to pop in on my return trip to my AirBnB, and I am so glad I did. This place is set up with tons of wood seating and a small bar. The kettles are on full display adding to the striking and handsome interior. I situated myself at one of the tables since it wasn't very busy and the bar stools were pretty full. The barkeep came over quickly to let me know about the happy hour special from 3-6 on weekdays and how to access the alcohol menu using a QR code. They were also displayed on a scrolling screen by the bar. The food menus were already on the table making it convenient. I chose to get a basket of tots and a Three Pillars Pilsner all on the happy hour special. The tots came out in a huge paper basket and were way too many for just me. They were perfectly crisp and came with a side of ketchup for dipping. The pils had excellent notes of caramel and was an easy drinker. I did check out the menu, and it looked more than ample for a brewery. This place seems to be a pretty awesome place to hang out, enjoy some good food and beer, and have excellent customer service. Check it out anytime you're in Long Beach! I know I'll be back to try more local brews and their menu when in town. read more
