    Antipasto Salad
    Michael G.

The Hare is a wonderful addition to the gayborhood and the area overall and I'm so glad to have new business to support in the neighborhood. It replaces the historic Paradise and its more recent predecessor Black and depending on whom you ask, those are some big shoes to fill. I definitely feel like it fills those shoes well. Food here is really good but one item I've had here is EPIC. The spinach and artichoke dip is the best I've ever had. On its own the dip is great but it's further elevated by the accompanying homemade potato chips and veggies that include carrots, celery, and cucumber. I've never had any restaurant serve cucumber with this appetizer but now I I can't have it without cucumber. I've tried the pepperoni, veggie, and sausage-pesto-mushroom pizza and have been really pleased. For those watching what they eat, the antipasto salad is a good choice. Service here is great, everyone is super personable. And I'm a fan of the rewards program that also includes Long Beach institution: The Breakfast Bar. Ambiance is super chill. There's TVs throughout this spot. I'm not a football fan but appreciate that there are 5 or 6 TVs that display different games. And they do a good job of honoring the neighborhood they're in. The Hare is somewhere I will frequently visit whether it's for good grub or when I'm in need of a cold adult beverage.

So far, I'm very pleased with the restaurant-forward experience that this new, neighborhood bar provides. I'm having a glass of wine on all-day happy hour which falls on a Monday among a plethora of other specials throughout the week. My boyfriend is having a $3 beer can, but they also have $5 drafts, too. As of current, I can attest to the Wings (6) sweet vampire flavor, Spinach Artichoke Dip, & Pepperoni Pizza. I got the pizza slice for free during their Grand Opening weekend (Sept. '25) and that's when we signed up for the rewards program which has been magnificent thus far. Thanks to Josh & team for the assistance getting acquainted with this! What keeps me coming back are the good deals, neighborhood vibe, & top-notch hospitality that the Breakfast Bar group is well-known for. You'll know me as a soon-to-be regular, The Hare. And what a cheeky, whimsical decor, as well. It's safe to say that this spot is a welcomed addition to Rainbow Road, and we're happy to have them. ** Tip: free pool all day Mondays **

First time here the staff were super welcoming. The drinks are great and the pizza looked great but I wasn't super hungry. I love the artwork and changes in decor from room to room.

Sad to see Black go. The Hare opened a couple weeks ago just in time for LB Pride to keep the party going though! Just came for drinks, which are refreshingly still set at old LB prices ($9 for a cocktail with Tito's)! Friendly service. Good vibes! I'll be back to try their pizzas and food!

Came to check out The Hare tonight and I feel right at home. Super cute vibe, open concept inside. Kale is the best energy behind the bar, come check her out! They have 3 tvs by the bar and two more in the dining/pool room. They had both baseball and football on the tubes for a Thursday night, for those that are coming to watch sports. If you enjoy supporting small businesses; consider this joint for food, beverages, sports, and/or good vibes! I will definitely be back!

Awesome cocktails and yummy food! This place is fun as well!

this used to be my old stomping ground, and when I walked in the whole place, transformed into something kind of wonderful! Great service, very friendly! And some pretty good grub!

Bomb pizza crust and toppings! So fresh!

Definitely worth it! The vibes are unmatched. It's a unique blend of "top notch cocktail crafting" and "beer and a hot pretzel after work." You can dress up, you can dress down, it's very 'just be yourself' which I love. I've literally had caviar AND hot dogs there in the same night at an event. They know how to blend high/low. Incredible knowledge and ingredients but not snooty patootie. Super inclusive and fun, with cool popups and events happening all the time. It's a full bar so you can get any cocktail you would normally order if you're keeping it simple, or beer, wine, boilermakers, etc. There's a span of offerings and price points, so something for everyone. (Also really good N/A cocktails!) The menu is super inventive and creative! And the cocktail menu changes out every so often so there are new things to try. This area is vintage vibes and Baby Gee speaks it fluently. Really cool decor, curated by the owners who design everything from the playlist to the cocktails to the invention of never-before-seen flavors and shapes of jello shots. Plus the food and drink was fabulous! One of the best tea services I've had! The bartender/server was so kind and welcoming letting us know we could be inside or out on the roof when we came in. The roof area was super cute but it was a little warm so we settled on one of the cozy velvet couches. We ordered a little too much but so excited to try it all we started with the charcuterie board. It comes on a cute snail shaped board. Especially loved the honey walnuts and cheese. The tea service comes with tea, mimosa, tea sandwiches, scones, desserts and fruits. You can tell the cucumber and chicken salad sandwiches were made to order. The cucumber is fresh, the right amount of herbs and seasoning! The chicken salad was also amazing! Zingy from what i think was Dijon and both were so moist and delicious! Scones were perfect! The mimosas were yummy and so was the tea. We ordered the oolong and Jasmine tea that came with ginger and butterfly pea syrups! What a whimsical touch that made it all perfect.

When we got there, I felt that the decorations and drinks felt a bit gimmicky, with random fairy tale-esque elements like a throne and massive red roses. I thought it would have been very cool to see Easter eggs and more intentionality bringing the atmosphere together. Since it was an hour before closing, we didn't plan to stay very long. The two people working at the bar were both unwelcoming and seemed upset that we were there (there were other people at the bar, including people who arrived later in the night than us). We paid for our drinks, which cost over $40 for 2 drinks with tip. My cocktail was $17 and came in a glass barely bigger than a shot glass. We left around the time they were calling for last call. I can understand not wanting stragglers who prevent the bartenders from closing late, but I would have much preferred being turned away at the door rather than paying and tipping for an overall unpleasant experience.

I was excited to see on the menu that they were serving Kinobi gin from Kyoto. I discovered this gin on a trip to Kyoto have since bought it regularly. To my surprise, when I saw the bartenders making the drinks they were using Gray Whale. Gray Whale is fine, but it's not in the same league at Kinobi. I realize Kinobi can be hard to find at times but If there's a substitution like that, the server should say something when you order the drink or if it's a recipe change, the menu should be updated. Speaking of service, that's what really brought me to write this re view. Before we even ordered we were told that we would only have 90 minutes. That honestly killed the vibe and made us feel rushed. Like the OpenTable confirmation even said we'd have two hours. And for tge rest of our time there our server pretty much ignored us. They forgot some of the food we ordered and shoved the check in our face when they wanted us to leave. I'm guessing they were stretched too thin? I think they need to hire another person to be a server or maybe get an extra bartender and have them wait on the people at the bar. At a bar like this service is everything. Being a Japanese themed bar you'd think they would try to copy the level of service you'd have in Japan. I just moved to the neighborhood and probably won't return after our experience.

I handed the valet a $5 tip before I even stepped out of my car, just so I could glide into the lobby feeling like a full‑blown princess making her grand entrance. Rob Fontana was performing tonight, and his music was so good I found myself time‑traveling back to the good old days. Every song hit, Rob. Good job! SERVICE Our server, Nia, was a star. Attentive, sharp memory, and smooth service all the way through. Zero notes. FOOD The menu is small, so if you show up ravenous, pace yourself or plan to Uber home after a cocktail‑heavy evening. False Advertising and Total Failure of a "Speakeasy"…read more This place should not call itself a speakeasy. According to their website, they are strict about dress code, reservations, and no large parties. None of that was enforced. People arrived wearing sports clothes, tennis shoes, and flip-flops, and a group of more than 10 people was allowed in. That group was loud, drunk, and screaming, completely destroying any speakeasy ambiance. We had a reservation booked one week in advance for 2 tables of six, yet by 8:30 pm, we were told no food was available, despite the bar being almost empty. The water was already on the table when we arrived and tasted strongly of chlorine, with no ice. The waitress was clearly new, untrained, and unprepared. She did not know the menu, didn't know how to take an order properly, and provided no guidance whatsoever. There was one bartender Ricardo, who took over an hour to prepare cocktails and showed no sense of urgency or care. The dramatic cocktail descriptions sounded impressive, but the drinks did not match the descriptions at all. Because of the delays, we were never even able to properly toast or celebrate our friend. The charcuterie board took forever and arrived with an absurd amount of cheese and only six pieces of bread. To make things worse, part of the food we ordered never arrived at all. The live jazz band advertised and promised never showed up. When asked, the staff responded with: "I don't know, they were supposed to be here. I don't have their phone number." That level of disorganization is unacceptable. At the end of the night, we were shocked to receive a check close to $600 for two tables, despite each person only having one cocktail and shared food. The bartender, Ricardo, approached us and said: "Well, sorry, we really tried tonight! It wasn't the best, but we tried." Honestly, that comment made the experience even more frustrating. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if they hadn't "tried."That statement perfectly summarizes the problem -- trying is not enough when everything fails. I would not recommend this place for a speakeasy experience. This is not a speakeasy. It's a poorly run bar hiding behind a concept it does not deliver. Do not recommend.
