Corner seating, beautiful decor
Danielle B.

Me and the hubby love jazz music and we're excited to come here on a random Thursday for a date night. We found parking a block away . The lobby and entrance for the Fairmont Breakers hotel is beautiful and I hope to do a staycation there one day. We ended finding a small table to sit out towards the back and I ordered a Manhattan while the hubby ordered a banana old fashioned. The drinks were delicious. The live music was good and our waitress was nice. But our evening ended early because a party or 10 or so came and sat in the corner by us and were super loud and kind of distracting from us really enjoying the music. We were kind of bummed but it was ok.

The ambience stole the show here this was such a great little hideaway. I love the live jazz that was playing on a Saturday evening. It was crowded, but I was able to sit easily lots of low conversations to match the lighting in a very upscale atmosphere.

This spot was recommended to us by our server Jessica over at the Sky Room, and I'm glad we checked it out! Located on the lobby level of the Fairmont Breakers Hotel, this cocktail bar gives off a semi-speakeasy feel. The lighting is dim and intimate, setting the tone for a romantic, elegant yet cozy vibe. They had live jazz playing when we visited, which added the perfect touch. The cocktails lean more on the classic craft side--I ordered an Old Fashioned and it was excellent. Bartender was fast, friendly, and on point. We didn't stay very long this time, but we'll definitely be back to hang out and soak in more of the atmosphere next round.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Beautiful ambiance, great drinks. This lounge-like first floor bar at The Breakers may not have spectacular views like Halo, their rooftop bar, but it has its own charms. Its darker, more subdued atmosphere could be a welcome break from the raucousness of the other bar, and more of a retreat than the bustle of the lobby bar. I had the Alter Ego Old fashioned, which came to me with a smoking glass with cover. The cover is then removed to release the aromatic smoke. The server then poured a small amount of the cocktail from a tiny carafe into the glass. It's all very ritualistic and impressive, but most importantly--delicious and not too sweet. I'll definitely be ordering that one again on my next visit.

Espresso Martini

We wanted espresso martinis after getting dinner in downtown & I remember this cute little bar being in the hotel the Fairmont Breakers. And myyyyy oh my was this the best decision. Are the drinks expensive? Yes, yes they are. But the alcohol is pretty premium & I was feeling pretty toasty after just one. The espresso martini was made to perfection - not overly sweet & not bitter either. We actually got it with tequila instead of vodka. The bartender was super sweet and personable. The ambience is so vibey. It's like a cool jazzy lounge - exactly how you'd imagine it to be in your mind. Velvet, beautiful wallpaper, bands at night. I will be back!

Alter Ego may have just gained a regular! This place is truly a vibe. I'm a huge fan of speakeasies, and Alter Ego delivers that energy perfectly. Hidden inside the Fairmont Breakers Hotel, it has an old Hollywood glam feel -- dim lighting, chic aesthetics, and a touch of mystery. When we walked in, soft R&B music was playing in the background, which immediately set the mood. I ordered the crab and artichoke dip, but unfortunately, it missed the mark for me. It was dry and bland when I was expecting something creamy and flavorful. My husband, on the other hand, ordered a cocktail and absolutely loved it. The service was excellent. The bartender went above and beyond, checking in on us multiple times and making sure we had a great experience. Despite the dip being a letdown, the overall vibe, ambiance, and service won me over. I'll definitely be back -- next time, I'll just try a different appetizer!

Loved the dark intimate space, total vibes! We only came for drinks and their live music. Service was excellent.

After our two previous stops at Fairmont Breakers (see 2 past reviews) we popped in here on our way out. The ambiance was dark and cool. Lounge-y, chill vibes. There was one guy playing live music. We just caught the last 25ish minutes before they closed but it seems like a nice place to hang.

Came here on a Friday night, and the vibes were great. Live music was playing and we were able to snag a table, a waitress helped us very quickly. I ordered the Espresso martini, my first and it was a 12/10. The fries were skinny and the side of aïoli sauce was very creamy and delicious. The crab and artichoke dip was a little too fishy for me, after the second bite that flavor went away but I would pass on it (especially for $24.) overall experience was great and I will be back for sure.

Stopped by Alter Ego with my girl to wind down the night, and this spot definitely delivered on service and atmosphere. The vibe is moody and intimate... low lighting, great music, and that perfect "grown up lounge" feel that makes you want to stay for one more round. The drinks were the highlight of the night. I started with a Dirty Martini and followed it up with a Chocolate Martini both strong, smooth, and well balanced. My girl had a French 75 and the Naked & Sunburnt, which were also delicious and boozy in the best way. We ordered a couple of light bites the Parmesan Truffle Fries and the Crab & Artichoke Dip....but honestly, both missed the mark for us. Nothing terrible, just not on the same level as their cocktails. Pro tip: come here for the drinks, ambiance, and live music nights they nail that part. Skip the food, grab a seat at the bar or a cozy corner, and just enjoy the vibes.

Cozy bar that features some jazz live music in the evenings on the weekends. The cocktails are well prepared. It is rather small, but they furnished it well to maximize the space.

Came in on a Friday night. Fun jazz live music band with a good atmosphere. Drinks are on the pricey side but it's to be expected from a hotel lounge/bar. The live music went on from 7-10pm. The band had a quick intermission to rest mid session. The drink service was a tad bit on the slower side but it was the day after Christmas so I'm sure they were short staffed. Overall, fun experience to hang out.

With growing popularity, enters Dakin to fill the void of a record store to meet EDM heads' needs! I was impressed to see such a large collection of used and rare house vinyl. I pulled out singles and EPs of OM records, Panhandle, Felix da Housecat, Masters at Work, Mark Farina, Naked Music, Collette and tons of other old house gems. Foot Work also carries techno, trance, drum n bass, and even some 90s hip hop. I love that you can listen to the records before you decide what you want to purchase. They also seem to prefer you left unwanted records in the crate, so they can make sure it gets returned in the correct section. It's bumping on Sundays with local djs taking turns on the ones and twos. Dakin is working on getting a beer and wine license, so it will definitely be a loungy hangout spot soon!

Dakin, the owner, is very welcoming and personable, and was happy to make recommendations for me. I had a great time browsing the selection of records; there are new and used, with some of the used ones not being strictly of the dance genre, but very cool, nonetheless. As other reviewers have noted, there is a listening station with bins where you put the records you don't want so you don't mess up his system--very smart. I'd already had a coffee with me so I didn't partake of the free in-house coffee, but next time! Looks like he'll be able to serve beer and wine soon, so that should add another dimension to the store's experience. If you're a fan of dance and electronic music this is a must-visit!

The venue has its own multi-story parking lot which is very easy to access, and only charges $15. We arrived thirty minutes before the show, and there was no line to enter the parking lot with many parking spaces available. After a very short walk across the garage and going up a one-story staircase (there is also an elevator), we were on the ground level with the theater. Unfortunately, you have to walk all the way around the large fountain area to reach the security checkpoint and entrance. There was no line and we passed through quickly. Luckily, after the show, you could walk directly to the garage without having to go around again. The theater seats around 3,000 people and has floor, loge, and balcony sections. It is very clean and has a modern feel. The main lobby is spacious and has high ceilings. There are bars on all levels, and some basic food items downstairs. There were also a few food and drink spots in front outside. The concert hall has very high ceilings and is also very modern. We sat on the floor in the second row. The seats were padded and comfortable, and the spacing between adjacent seats and between rows was good. The view of the performers was amazing. There was a large projection screen behind the stage, with various video playing throughout the show. There was some fog on the stage, and the lighting was good, but nothing exceptional. Sitting so close is great for pictures and videos, and you're oblivious to the other 2,900 people in the theater. It almost feels like you're getting a private performance. However, the sound can be hit or miss depending on the performers' preferences and venue's audio setup. The main speaker arrays here hang directly over the first few rows in front of the stage. For the opening band, we couldn't hear any of the guitars at all. Joe played almost completely through his on-stage amps only and the sound was perfect. Steve's mix was half through his amps and half through the main speaker arrays. We could hear his guitar, but not nearly as well as Joe's. It's not the venues fault, the sound is usually optimized for the majority of the theater, and the first few rows may suffer. The opening band was Animals As Leaders. I've seen them a few times over the years as an opener for Steve Vai. They are an instrumental guitar focused band with the unique characteristic that both guitarists use eight-string guitars which gives them a unique sound. Joe Satriani and Steve Vai started out the main show together. They are two of the greatest rock guitar legends to ever play. They played a few original songs together that they co-wrote, followed by both individual and joint performances of a dozen of their popular songs. Steve's unique three-neck Hydra guitar made an appearance. There was also an encore with cover versions of Rock and Roll and Born to be Wild. I've seen Joe 25 times and Steve seven times, and I'll continue to go to every show when they are in town. In between the opening band and the main show, we immediately went to use the ground level restrooms which are downstairs. The lines were already extremely long. On a whim, we went upstairs and the restrooms on both sides initially had very short lines. After only five minutes, the upstairs lines also started to get long. Go upstairs fast and you should have a much shorter wait. The show was great and I really liked the venue. It's modern, clean, and comfortable, with various amenities. The sound mix was a mixed bag sitting in front, but it wasn't the venue's fault. If you want the best chance of a good sound mix, don't sit up front. Parking was very convenient and very affordable. I would definitely come see a show here again. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

Jokoy, air supply, 90s old school R&B funk jam , Franki Valli and the list goes on. Its not very big inside, in comparison to Crypto or the inglewood forum but it does its job. Stadium seating could use some work if they decide to remodel in the future. Its a clean place with great acoustics. The only negative thing I have to say is the sale of alcoholic beverages! The venue shuts down completely early. Like 9pmsh! Unacceptable for an entertainment venue. I recommend watching concerts or any type of events in this area. Plenty of parking in the parking structure and surrounding businesses nearby. Long Beach is beautiful.
