This is a fun, themed bar in Long Beach! Prepare to park on the street but there were plenty of spaces when we went. The staff is friendly and the place has lots of fun backdrops for photos. They have an extensive drink menu full of themed cocktails. I got the Defying Gravity. Defying Gravity- This has a pear vodka base with pear liqueur, pear syrup, and foam. Moderate sweetness and definitely fruity and refreshing. Great experience overall!

Locally owned small cocktail bar that does afternoon tea. Came to celebrate a birthday and the inside is adorable. Dark Alice in wonderland vibe with a lot of potential for a great party location. Highlights were the tea selection and the scones and sandwiches were huge portions. There were many people that day and service was a bit delayed. Tea took over an hour to get but we had passion fruit mimosas quickly. I would suggestion a smaller group for a better experience. I can see the owner puts a lot of passion and love into this place and it's a great local spot to come out and support.

This is not our "usual" place, but we went on a whim on a Friday night. The decor was so fun and we easily found a little couch to sit on to enjoy some drinks and live music. The drink menu is definitely inspired, and we had fun trying some unusual combinations. Check it out if you are looking for something different!

Such a great spot! A bit dark, funky, and fun! Whether you're in the mood for a classic cocktail or a tasty concoction, this place is the place to be. The Wicked Wolf has curated music events, food popups, and hobby nights for all to enjoy. I personally love coming for the boardgames and mahjong nights. Staff are friendly and will tailor cocktails to meet your tastebuds needs.

Okay this place is actually a whole experience. I came here for this super cute book bedazzling event my book club was hosting, and I was immediately obsessed. The inside?? Literally feels like you stepped into a fairytale cottage in the woods. Every little detail even the bathroom is on theme. It's giving cozy, magical, slightly unhinged woodland vibes in the best way. I lowkey wish I came on a weekend because apparently they have a tea party menu, which just feels very on brand for the whole vibe. The bartenders were also amazing super sweet, on it, and actually gave solid recommendations instead of just staring at you while you panic order. Overall, such a fun, unique spot. I'd 100% come back, especially to experience the tea party moment.

Wicked Wolf is an eclectic fun Long Beach Bar. Decor is awesome and drinks are delicious. Our bartender was fun and we had a good time. After our visit I checked their website and it seems like they have several events going on, including a small room upstairs for trivia and other event events. I think I'd also like to go back and try their tea

Five stars for Ishmael! My book club meets at the Wicked Wolf and it was my first time visiting the establishment. I've been wanting to visit for the longest time because of all their cool events and just the overall buzz I've been hearing about it. I entered the place on a Sunday afternoon and was immediately greeted by Ishmael behind the counter who was busy greeting patrons, mixing drinks, and taking orders. The interior was decorated for Halloween and I love the art of the wolf at the bar. There's indoor and outdoor seating on the top and bottom floor. I ordered a passion fruit matcha and a couple of other members of my book club ordered some drinks and we were informed that our drinks will be brought upstairs for us. During that time, Ishmael was helping another party who were sampling teas and he was also trying to help other patrons that entered so he was super busy but was still killing it. Throughout our hour and a half meeting, Ishmael and another staff member came to check on us and brought us our food and drink orders and even took our book club meeting photo for us. He and his coworker, whose name we didn't get, are an absolute treasures and made us all feel so welcome and comfortable. Ismael is quite possibly one of the most easy going and kindest people! I can't wait for our next meeting to try out more of the menu.

The Wicked Wolf was everything I expected and maybe even more! I came here a while ago for my birthday with my best friend and we had a great time here. We arrived around 8ish on a Sunday night after having dinner and fortunately the bar was quite empty except for a few other patrons. The interior decor was cute and for some reason gave me forest fairy vibes. The drinks were elegant and the bartender was sweet enough to even give me a birthday shot. After much anticipation, I'm glad I finally had the chance to check out The Wicked Wolf and I'd definitely stop by again for a night out in the city. Totally recommend to anyone at least for a one & done experience!

I came here once before but didn't have a chance to get photos or write a review They have a bunch of pros They are open pretty late They have bands and events, you can scan the menu and it tells you the schedule for upcoming events. The band we saw when we came in was called - second hand smoke. I felt like I was at a lounge in New Orleans They have great seating vs just sitting at the bar. They have such beautiful couches to lounge on. The atmosphere is great, I love the color scheme here. The place isn't huge, but they have a great amount of seating. And it's comfortable. I love the magical forest vibe The bartenders were all great They are also right next door to Wrigley bbq. And they don't mind if you bring food in from there (they are literally right next door) Wicked wolf does have a very limited food menu. It's just small things like a charcuterie board, hummus, a sandwich and other little items We did end up ordering the charcuterie board and the Cubana sandwich It is street parking. But both times I've came I got a spot right up front The drinks are great. I got an espresso martini and for my second round I had the pornstar (both my two favorite drinks) My girl, Lynn ended up getting the golden spike and an old fashioned. They also have a page full of signature mocktails to order. They also offer tea and coffee during the day I literally have zero complaints. It's a great place to just sit with girlfriends and have a couple drinks. It's definitely not your typical bar, so don't come here looking for a wild party. This is just a nice calm place to come with girlfriends if you want to grab a drink or two and just relax and talk Bonus points for it being locally owned and woman owned

An excellent bar to hangout with friends or partners. We didn't have any food, but the drinks were awesome and decently priced. Service was friendly. We went on a Thursday evening and there was a trio playing live jazz. The music was very good, especially as there's no cover. The decor is nice. There is also an upstairs rooftop deck. The only problem is that there is no parking, so you might want to Uber.

Would be a shame if they served more food. Hot dogs or other protein focused bar bites would slap.

$45 high tea per person- so worth it! Make sure to book ahead as this is reservation only service The Wicked Wolf offers! Came on a Saturday and it was a little busy but nonetheless we were taken care of! Our high tea came with two pots ( I got English breakfast, my friend got earl grey), mimosas( blood orange and regular), blueberry scones with clotted cream, madeleines, medley of fruits and two types of finger sandwiches(cucumber and chicken)! We enjoyed them all and I'm glad we tried this place out! We do need to come back for the bar though, and I heard they host cool events as well( like the improv shows, music, etc)

I don't normally do this but I decided to challenge myself and go to a bar alone. Happened to come during one of their theme nights and the theme was Repeal Day (had to look this up lol). December 5th marks the anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition era, which lasted 13 years! Whew, that's a long time to not consume alcohol hehe ;) Since they turned the bar into a speakeasy, it took me doing something a lil uncomfortable to get in. You had to knock on the metal door 3x and howl like a wolf. I remember I jokingly told the dapper doorman that I was too sober for this LOL. Thankfully no one was around when I lifted my head and tried to howl as convincingly as I could. After a few moments, Isaac opened the door and I was granted entry. Yesssss. Isaac gave me a quick rundown on what the theme was and the fact that they were running a special where if we paid $15 for the "ticket," we'd get one drink for free and it included a tasting. I felt dumb when I realized he meant alcohol tasting and not food. I was real hungry by the time I got there lol. I declined the special offer and instead opted just for regular drinks at the bar. My bartender, Shannon, was very patient with me and walked me through the different kinds of drinks they had available that night. Unfortunately, it was a limited menu as they were only making themed drinks based on the Prohibition era, but I wasn't disappointed in them. I'm accustomed to basic drinks like margaritas, palomas, moscow mules, etc., but I was happy with Shannon's recommendations--I ordered a Whiskey Sour and a Bee's Knees. I definitely liked the Bee's Knees better. That honey syrup in there made it easy for me to lap up lol. The food is limited but I was grateful they even had any--they've got a charcuterie board, hummus and pita chips, a Cubano sandwich, and beef & chicken empanadas. The chicken empanada was okay, it kinda tasted like I was eating store bought but can't prove it lol. The Cubano sandwich was goooood. I'm not sure about the full list of ingredients but from what I gathered--meats (ham and something else), cheese, pickled veggies, bell peppers, and I wanna say onion. I felt like it would've paired well with the Bee's Knees but I was full by the time I ordered that last drink of mine lol. And gosh, the ambience was cool. Dimly lit interior, nicely decorated, and I absolutely adored the staff, the blues band that played that night--Shy But Flyy--and its patrons. Once the band started playing and their mesmerizing female lead took the stage, I was blown away. Truly. Real, raw talent from this group. I couldn't stop bobbing my head along to the music. It was such a vibe. They even had Magic Castle magicians come that night! IYKYK. They'd go up to the patrons and perform card tricks, mentalist tricks, etc. I was too shy to go up to them but one of the magicians had come up to do stage magic and we were BLOWN. AWAY. He basically was able to read people's minds and did this cool calculator trick haha. Even though I was the only patron who came alone, no one made me feel awkward at all and was very welcoming. I could definitely see this place being a regular spot of mine and for others as well. Thank you Wicked Wolf, for making my first, solo bar hang one of the greatest privileges I've ever had.

The Wicked Wolf Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The Wicked Wolf

What is the After Dark Divinations event happening Sunday, 12/14?

It’s several psychics and tarot card readers doing speed readings.

    Is this a rooftop bar?

We do have a rooftop terrace, and the bar is downstairs.

Can you bring children for tea during the day?

Unfortunately, we're 21+ at all times.

    Is there a smoking section?

No. Smoking is not allowed inside businesses in California. It's possible that you can go outside to the sidewalk.

Is The Wicked Wolf good for big groups?

We can accommodate larger groups on our upstairs terrace, with advanced notice. We also host private parties.

Do you have kareoke every night?

We have karaoke on Sunday night, 8:00-11:00.

Do you need to make a reservation looking to go Saturday at 10 PM?

Hi Daniel, you don’t need reservations. Just come on over. We have a great jazz band on Saturday, 8-10.

    Do they have food?

Not themselves. Every so often they have food popups, but it's not every day like at Trademark. You can bring your own food though, like from the bbq place next door, or two different Thai places a block away in either direction.

Do you plan to have entertainment someday?

The Wicked Wolf is a cultural hub for the community, with a fun event happening almost daily. From Singles Trivia on third Tuesdays to karaoke on Sunday nights, from live bands on weekends to funk jazz jams on Thursdays, from Mah Jongg to Board Game… Read more

Me and my girls were able to get 3 seats at the bar. Like much of the other reviews. Service was slow and it took a long time to get a drink. However, as the night went on the crowd grew bigger and there were only 2 servers so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. That alone is not why I gave this place 1 star. I have came to this bar a few times in the past. It has been a couple of years since I have been back but my past experiences had been pleasant. At first everything was cool. Even with service being slow me and my girls were just talking and vibing with each other and those around us. We met some pretty cool people there. They have a small dance floor and we had a few drinks in us so went dancing. It was a great time. We ended up getting warm from the dancing and wanted to get a breather outside. We saw the door to the patio was open and people were outside. So we walked out and were just talking. One of my crew was smoking a cigarette. Then 2 of the staff members came out furious completely bypassing the other tables of people sitting outside and came directly to us. They started screaming and cussing at us saying we weren't supposed to be outside. One of them said "isn't it obvious can't you read?!" One of my friends said "no wasn't obvious" and my sister in law was telling them to calm down and that we would go inside. She told them that they were being incredibly rude because they were people outside and we thought it was open. As we went inside they still berated us. Two grown men yelling and cussing at us now from inside the bar. So we had hand enough and talked back because we were not going to be verbally attacked at a place that we spent money and our time at. We ended up deciding to leave and as we decided to leave, they followed us out and slammed the door on us and said that we weren't allowed in. Still yelling and cussing at us through the gated door. I started filming shortly around this time because I felt unsafe. Then they started mocking us saying "now look they are going to leave us a bad review." and I said yes we are because this experience was horrifying. I asked was because of our race? (because we were a diverse group of women). It went from two grown men yelling at us to silence. I want to make this clear. Though there were other people sitting outside that night. Lighter skinned people. We were the only ones targeted. No other individual outside was treated this way and no other staff intervened. If you are a woman. If you are of color, do not come here. We are not welcome.

False Advertising and Total Failure of a "Speakeasy"…read more This place should not call itself a speakeasy. According to their website, they are strict about dress code, reservations, and no large parties. None of that was enforced. People arrived wearing sports clothes, tennis shoes, and flip-flops, and a group of more than 10 people was allowed in. That group was loud, drunk, and screaming, completely destroying any speakeasy ambiance. We had a reservation booked one week in advance for 2 tables of six, yet by 8:30 pm, we were told no food was available, despite the bar being almost empty. The water was already on the table when we arrived and tasted strongly of chlorine, with no ice. The waitress was clearly new, untrained, and unprepared. She did not know the menu, didn't know how to take an order properly, and provided no guidance whatsoever. There was one bartender Ricardo, who took over an hour to prepare cocktails and showed no sense of urgency or care. The dramatic cocktail descriptions sounded impressive, but the drinks did not match the descriptions at all. Because of the delays, we were never even able to properly toast or celebrate our friend. The charcuterie board took forever and arrived with an absurd amount of cheese and only six pieces of bread. To make things worse, part of the food we ordered never arrived at all. The live jazz band advertised and promised never showed up. When asked, the staff responded with: "I don't know, they were supposed to be here. I don't have their phone number." That level of disorganization is unacceptable. At the end of the night, we were shocked to receive a check close to $600 for two tables, despite each person only having one cocktail and shared food. The bartender, Ricardo, approached us and said: "Well, sorry, we really tried tonight! It wasn't the best, but we tried." Honestly, that comment made the experience even more frustrating. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if they hadn't "tried."That statement perfectly summarizes the problem -- trying is not enough when everything fails. I would not recommend this place for a speakeasy experience. This is not a speakeasy. It's a poorly run bar hiding behind a concept it does not deliver. Do not recommend.

I was excited to see on the menu that they were serving Kinobi gin from Kyoto. I discovered this gin on a trip to Kyoto have since bought it regularly. To my surprise, when I saw the bartenders making the drinks they were using Gray Whale. Gray Whale is fine, but it's not in the same league at Kinobi. I realize Kinobi can be hard to find at times but If there's a substitution like that, the server should say something when you order the drink or if it's a recipe change, the menu should be updated. Speaking of service, that's what really brought me to write this re view. Before we even ordered we were told that we would only have 90 minutes. That honestly killed the vibe and made us feel rushed. Like the OpenTable confirmation even said we'd have two hours. And for tge rest of our time there our server pretty much ignored us. They forgot some of the food we ordered and shoved the check in our face when they wanted us to leave. I'm guessing they were stretched too thin? I think they need to hire another person to be a server or maybe get an extra bartender and have them wait on the people at the bar. At a bar like this service is everything. Being a Japanese themed bar you'd think they would try to copy the level of service you'd have in Japan. I just moved to the neighborhood and probably won't return after our experience.

The bar is in a more industrial part of town but nothing bad ever happened. I hated living in Long Beach to be quite honest, but absolutely loved this bar. I still think about it till this day. Finally made it out and they are about to close. :(…read more It was very busy when we arrived and we had to wait about 20 minutes, but after being seated, everything was smooth. Trying several items on the menu provided us a nice sampling of what they have to offer. We enjoyed everything we ordered. My favorite was probably the Brussel sprouts as they were cooked to perfection and not sweet like most restaurants serve them. A close 2nd was the chicken parmesan served over zucchini noodles. The final item ordered was a mushroom pasta with shrimp. The shrimp were fantastic with a light char and perfect flavoring. The pasta was good. It was a bit to spicy for me with the chili oil so I only had a small portion. The inside is simple yet inviting with an open layout. They seemed a bit short staffed, but every one was hustling and honestly we were well taken care of. Sad I won't have another opportunity to try more of the menu, but grateful to squeeze in this visit before they close in about a week.

It did look quite busy on the patio when we checked in with the hostess. We were informed that it would prob be about 20 minutes or so for a table and if we wanted to wait at the bar. Exactly what we did. Bar area had maybe 5/6 hi top chairs that look onto the bar. Gabriel and Francisco who were working was knocking the drinks out one by one. Sitting there and just watching them create magic for everyone, it was quite amusing. Seeing how it's made and presented with precise detail, it was an art. While waiting for the table we started off with the raspberry lychee martini and the spicy margaritas. Both were great. The right amount of kick with each sip. Gabriel was knocking them out one by one and man was he busy. Fransisco took are of us while we were eating which we ended up just having our dinner at the bar instead. The last time I remembered the chicken Parmesan which was excellent. So we started off with the grilled prawns as a starters. Five prawns in a skewers and grilled with a delicious sauce accompanied. It was tasty and quite delicious. Decent size and meaty for each bite. Entrees was a little mishap as our meal was mistakenly given to the party next to us which they enjoyed. Honesty mistake but we laughed it off. Kitchen was informed and a rushed was put on our order. We weren't in a rush so it was fine with us. They apologized and graciously offered us a dessert after dinner. Something simple but very graceful for the honest mistake. Entrees, the wild mushrooms pasta which was quite tasty and pretty decent in size. The cream sauce which wasn't too over powering the meal was great. Each bite was very tasty. Then there was the chicken Parmesan which why we were here and expecting. The last visit it was excellent with grilled broccolini, slices of tomatoes on top and mozzarella cheese and onto spaghetti pasta. It was great. Thinking it would be the same this time which it wasn't. This visit, it was just served with squash pasta and buffalo mozzarella on top. Honestly it wasn't what I expected, somewhat of a little disappointed. Chicken was good don't get me wrong. But the hot meat with sauce and then you have literally COLD squash pasta paired with it. It was a little underwhelming. Overall, we still had a nice experience. The place was pretty full and of course the lakers were on so it was fun seeing everyone cheering them on. Bar seating for a meal was great as we had fun conversations with both Gabriel and Francisco. Plus they were cranking them drinks out one by one. Excellent in what they do. The drinks were great, grilled prawns and wild mushrooms pastas were excellent. Chicken parm, this time was a miss. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and cocktails. Also the dessert, highly recommend the Cinnabon with vanilla ice cream. Wow, it went down very well. Hoping next time will outdo this.
