A true monster mash. Our crew of four hit up the Bamboo Club on Halloween to explore their spooky cocktail menu. Bamboo Club truly showed up for the occasion. The night included a DJ, costume contest, themed cocktails, and decor throughout their multiple spaces. Attendees also dressed to impress in a variety of quirky and creative costumes. My personal favorite was Ang from Avatar the Last Airbender. This place does get packed, especially during the holiday season. I'd highly recommend reservations for both their Halloween and Christmas pop ups. Luckily we booked in advance, but there was a line outside the door for walk ins. The drinks were superb, but strong. I personally found mine to be a tad too sweet - but that's what I get for ordering a cocktail with a taro base. The cocktails were served beautifully, each with Halloween twist. We returned to the Bamboo Club, aptly renamed the Tremble Club for October, to try out some of their Halloween cocktails. They had good decorations both inside and outside on the patio, and a great music playlist. You can find a link to their reservation system, which uses Toast, on their website. We visited on a Wednesday at 5pm to take advantage of their happy hour. We had some of the same food items as last time, including the shishito peppers ($16), Bamboo classic burger ($13 during happy hour), and the BBQ pulled jackfruit sandwich ($18). All of the food was very good. I started out with the Dark Matters (Ron del Barrilito rum, Koloa cocoa rum, lemon, orange, coconut cream, pineapple, ube, floated with toasted black sesame foam ($17). I normally wouldn't order a frozen drink, but the list of ingredients was very inviting. It had very nice chocolate notes up front with the pineapple, coconut, and ube all there in the background. It was a little boozy, and surprisingly just a little sweet. They should partner with 7-11 to put this recipe in their slushie machines, I'd visit daily! She started out with the Blood Rave (Del Maguey Vida mezcal, aperol, Luxardo cherry, cinnamon, simple syrup, pineapple, lime, Angostura bitters, $17).It had a great red color, just the right amount of smokiness from the mezcal, and an overall light sweetness. Next, I had the Forbidden Fruit (Martell VS Cognac, Humboldt apple brandy, Kuleana agricole rum, Trader Vic's macadamia nut, apple puree, lemon, cinnamon, Angostura bitters, gardenia mix, $17). This was perfectly balanced with a light tart green apple flavor, and a hint of red apple, and cinnamon. I would have never guessed this was a cocktail with Cognac and brandy. Next, she had the Soylent Green (1800 coconut tequila, cachaca, falernum, lime, orgeat, kiwi, cinnamon, a wisp of absinthe, alcoholic coconut boba, $17). This was balanced and complex, with a very interesting array of flavors. The coconut boba on top was a nice touch. I finished with the Freak on a Lychee (Denizen 8 year rum, Old Forestor, Licor 43, lychee, korn orgeat, lime and calamansi bitters, $17). This was balanced, and the fresh lychee flavor really stood out to me. She finished with Perfect Specimen (Brugal 1888 rum, falernum, lime, pineapple, orange, honey, sugar guava, chlorophyll, float of Worthy Park dark rum, $17). This drink has a great presentation, arriving in a smoking bowl of dry ice. It was another perfectly balanced drink and the guava stood out to me. This is definitely the first drink we've ever had with chlorophyll in it! After previewing the Tremble Club cocktail menu before visiting, I thought many of the drinks might have too many ingredients and lean towards the sweet side. But every drink we had was great, balanced well, and nicely garnished. We were lucky to have Steph, our bartender from our first visit, serve us again at the bar. He is very friendly, a lot of fun, and has excellent knowledge of the drinks. We are looking forward to returning for their Christmas theme, "The Tinsel Club", starting on November 16. read more

Visited the Bamboo club for the first time last night. It's decked out for halloween right now which was super cool and fun. There is a seasonal menu which we had to try. I got the One Wish Willow- wow if you could compress Fall into a cocktail this would be it! This was such an amazing drink I had to savor every sip. A perfect blend of flavors to create a dazzling, smooth and delicious cocktail. My wife got The Thing- she loved it! I was impressed with the presentation, not only were the drinks great, they were beautiful and festive. To finish off the night we split a Mai Thai, another slamdunk. You have to get one when you visit the bamboo club. Our bartender Lindsay was friendly, quick on the drinks and easygoing- you can tell she knew what she was doing and gave me the "I can be your best friend or worst nightmare" vibe that is oddly comforting in a bartender. Treat your servers well and they'll treat you in-kind! All in all this was a great experience, I highly recommend it for meeting up with an old friend, a date night, a friend group or just a nice drink alone. read more

First spooky bar of the season! We waited about 30 mins since they were clearing out the place in order to start burlesque night?? The whole place had tiki vibes, which made it such a fun spot for Halloween drinks. If you didn't have a reservation, it was a $10 entrance fee, but the show was definitely worth checking out. The drinks were festive, strong, & super unique! I got The Thing, which looked and tasted like a green juice . The other drink we tried was Soylent Green. Plot twist: it wasn't even green?! The bamboo club offers many of the standard tiki drinks and some specials unique ones for this establishments. Plus the menu offers some tiki like food items. As for seating: the bar offers booths that can be reserved for four to six people. In the bar area there are seats at the bar and high tables. Plus there is a covered area. During peak times best to make a reservation online. The bar does offer a small parking lot along the side of the bar. There is also plenty of street parking. Came here on a Tuesday night for the Love Island watch party which, side note, is such a fun and cute event! I loved being able to watch the show with other people who are just invested as me. The watch party ticket included a Rum the Jewels drink which I personally wasn't a fan of, but then we got a Pina Colada which was more my type of drink. I ordered the loco moco which was pretty good, nothing crazy. The service was what really stood out to me. The hostess Sunny let us choose between stools under the TV vs. a table with an obstructed view for the watch party and our server came around multiple times to make sure we were doing okay. After the watch party we went inside to the bar which was where we got the pina colada, and our bartender Devin was super cool and told us about his favorite tiki bars. I came here on a busy Saturday night and regret not making reservations ahead of time! Thankfully there were two spots left at the end of the bar. I was greeted by the friendly hosts when I arrived who were super accommodating. I really loved the vibe and ambiance of the place and immediately felt transported to Polynesia. There was a live performance just ending and while it was a bit noisy, it still felt lively and intimate. I had the bartender start me off with a daiquiri and then I shared the Chief Lapu Lapu Bowl. This was such an experience of watching it being touched and then an explosion of cinnamon occurring! It was very delicious and refreshing with unique and fruity flavors. Apparently the bowl is worth a lot because they take your ID and give it back once you return the bowl in one piece! I came for the tiki comedy night they were having. It was pretty fun-- some comedians were hit or miss of course. I ordered a virgin lava flow that was AMAZING. It was so tasty. On the sweet side but it was not overwhelmingly sweet at all. I love the coconut flavor being the primary flavor note. The pu pu platter, which I was like am I saying this right ?! I went to Bamboo Club on a Friday night around 10. The plan was to eat and have a cocktail, and hopefully enjoy some music. Walked in and the place was lit - lively, people dancing, drinking, just enjoying themselves. Vibes were 10/10. We found a table in the back past the patio and realized no one was coming to serve us so husband went and ordered Mai Tai's at the bar, and found out the kitchen was closed. We were disappointed because we were starving, but just decided to stay a while and enjoy the MaiTai's. I will say these were thee best MaiTai's. I organized two group outings to the Bamboo Club recently and both groups had a great time. The staff were welcoming and made our experiences positive. Happy hour is all day Monday and Tuesday, Wed-Fri 3-6 pm, and Tuesday also has Taco specials. On my first visit I tried the Singapore Sling, wings, ahi tacos, and bread pudding. The singapore sling was very good. The chicken wings were large, juicy, and well sauced. The tacos were good, but the soft taco shells were a bit stale. The bread pudding was enough to split among our group and was ok but not great. On my second visit I had the Bye Bye Ladies (my favorite of the three drinks I tried), Thai Me a River, Roll-Subi, and Crispy Chicken Sandwich. I've been coming to The Bamboo Club since COVID, and it has always been a staple whenever I visit Long Beach. I've continued to return because I genuinely enjoy the atmosphere, food, and especially their classic tiki cocktails. Unfortunately, as much as I love what this place has to offer, the service continues to be its biggest downfall. During our most recent visit, we arrived as a party of four and requested a table. The hostess immediately responded with a dismissive and rather rude attitude, informing us that nothing was available and that the wait would be three hours. Three hours for a table at a relatively small bar? I've been coming here for years and have never experienced anything like that. Rather than offering any alternatives or making us feel welcome, we were simply told to wait by the bar. Fortunately, another guest was kind enough to offer us her seat at the bar. Once seated, we attempted to order food and drinks, but the experience didn't improve. The female bartender seemed completely uninterested in assisting us, almost as though ordering food at the bar was an inconvenience to her. There was little hospitality, no sense of urgency, and certainly no effort to make us feel welcome. The food was delicious, as always, and the cocktails were enjoyable, especially at happy hour prices. Unfortunately, those were the only highlights of our visit. What frustrated me even more was the bill. Nowhere on the menu did I notice any mention of automatic gratuity for a party of four. Yet, when the bartender handed me the check, he casually stated, "Gratuity is included." I was genuinely surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added, especially considering the level of service we had received. I have absolutely no issue tipping generously for good service, but automatically adding 20% without clearly communicating that policy beforehand, particularly for a party of four, was disappointing. As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for nine years, I understand firsthand how demanding this business can be. I know that busy shifts happen, wait times can be unpredictable, and employees have difficult days. However, none of that excuses dismissive attitudes or making paying guests feel like an inconvenience. Hospitality is about more than simply taking orders and delivering food. It's about creating an experience that makes people want to return. I genuinely hope the owners and management take the time to address these concerns with their staff. The Bamboo Club has so much potential, and its kitchen and cocktail program clearly deliver. Unfortunately, great food and drinks can only make up for poor service so many times. It's incredibly disappointing to write this review about a place I've supported for years, but loyal customers should not have to continuously overlook poor hospitality just because the food is good. So happy we decided to stop in for a drink and some grub on our way back from the Long Beach Pow Wow--what an absolute treat. I love a good tiki bar, and this one is definitely up there in the ranks. That's not always the case with tiki spots, so it definitely stood out. For drinks, I had two Painkillers--and as the name suggests, I left feeling no pain. Smooth, tropical, and dangerously easy to sip. Presentation was also on point, with beautiful garnishes that matched the whole aesthetic. Food-wise, I ordered the Impossible burger without cheese. It was good, though not quite great. Next time, I'd probably ask for it cooked a bit longer and go lighter on the Thousand Island-style sauce, which was a bit overpowering. That said, the fries were perfectly cooked--crispy on the outside, fluffy inside--and the vegan egg roll appetizer was a standout. Seriously delicious and a must-order. Another great visit! Again, I ordered the vegan Moco Loco and again, it was simply delicious. I had a virgin Painkiller with dinner, too. I do drink alcohol, but wanted something sweet at fruity without booze. It was great. We ordered the shishito peppers for an appetizer. I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I read about them on the menu, but they were literally just like, sauteed whole peppers in a great sauce and seasoning. this place definitely has a fun vibe, as they really nailed the tiki aesthetic. i stopped by for a friend's birthday and had a quick drink and some food. i can't say i'm at bars often, but for one of my limited experiences, it was a pretty fun time. we were seated outside, and it ended up being comfortable. they had heaters set up, which i appreciated since it can get chilly. i ordered a mocktail that was pretty good, like a virgin piña colada but with orange instead of coconut since i'm not the biggest coconut gal. service-wise, it felt a little mixed. the server gave me a bit of a look when i ordered the mocktail to sub coconut with orange, which made me feel a little embarrassed, and it also seemed like things got a bit overwhelmed because i was initially brought an alcoholic drink and had to remind them i'd ordered non-alcoholic. i also tried the ahi poke, which was mostly delicious, but i think there may have been cilantro in it even though it wasn't listed, so i ended up not finishing it. despite the small mishaps, overall, it seems to be a fun spot to hang out with friends, especially for the atmosphere. i'd probably come back to try a couple of other things if i'm in the mood for that kind of bar scene. read more

So I can only rate on the drinks, not the food. But man, the drinks were not great. These are very basic drinks made with very basic spirits, and not balanced well, the decor was ok for just a bar, but if you are truly into tiki, this is not for you. The part that really got me was being told at the end, "there is an automatic 18% tip for the Halloween popup." Seriously get out of here with that. I went to 9 tiki bars this week, 80% of them decorated for Halloween, and decorated tastefully with knockout drinks, and wasn't charged a since cent for it. Especially for budget cobwebs and other trinkets thrown around just because. Strongwater, fully decorated, James beard nominated, doesn't charge for Halloween decorations and they are less then 20 minutes from here. The up charge is actually quite ridiculous. Coolest spot for a quick drink and eats. Love the vibes and some nights they have a live DJ . The drinks were really good and the spam masubi was so good too :) Definitely coming back to this little spot read more
