The Bamboo Club is special. Hands down worth the trip if you are anywhere near OC or LA, this place is a must! Staff is super friendly and helpful, tiki vibes are on point and you really feel like you are on your own piece of island. We came by for the brunch on the weekend, and the food was fresh, made to order and super tasty. Obviously the tiki drinks are always on point, typically strong and made with aloha! This is by far our go-to tiki place in Long Beach, it's extremely clean and it always makes for a very special time. The Bamboo Club is an outstanding tiki bar, and I really wish they had their own tiki mug to sell because they have center piece waiting on our shelf! We did however buy an anniversary tall glass that will do for now, but we just love our tiki mugs and love the Bamboo Club so much. We can't wait to go back! We recently visited the Bamboo Club for the first time. They have their own parking lot, but it is small and was full when we arrived. I got lucky and found a spot right out front on Anaheim Street. It shouldn't be too hard to find parking on nearby side streets. We visited on a weekday at 5pm and took advantage of their great happy hour, which runs all night on Monday and Tuesday, and from 3pm to 6pm Wednesday through Friday. Happy hour includes quite a few food specials, and $2 off tiki cocktails. They also have a tiki marketplace in the parking lot on the first Saturday of every month. We sat at the bar since we enjoy talking to the bartenders. Other seating options include a dining area in front with high top tables, and tiki hut booths behind the bar. The booth cushions are pretty beat up. They also have an open air patio out back with a lot of tables. There is another dining room between the patio and the front of the house that has minimal décor and mainly has murals on the walls. The overall tiki décor is somewhere between ok and good. The atmosphere feels like a neighborhood tiki bar with dive bar undertones. We started out with a few appetizers. The veggie egg rolls ($6 during happy hour) were good, and the sauce had a slight heat. We also had the shishito peppers ($8) which were a generous portion and had a very good unami sauce on them. I started out with the Fluffy Banana cocktail (White Rum, Cinnamon, Lemon, Coconut, Banana Liqueur, Bitters, $13 minus $2 happy hour discount). It had a great foam top rising above the edge of the glass. It was balanced with a light to medium sweetness, with coconut up front and banana underneath. She started out with the Bye Bye Ladies (Pineapple, Coconut Cream, Lemon, Tito's Vodka, Trader Vic's Macadamia Nut Liqueur, Shaved Macadamia Nut, $14 minus $2 happy hour discount). This was balanced, but on the much sweeter side with coconut and pineapple up front, with a little macadamia in the background. We ordered more food, and I had the Bamboo Classic Burger ($10 during happy hour). This was a solid tasty burger, and came with a healthy portion of french fries. She had the BBQ pulled jackfruit sandwich ($18). It is nice that they have some vegetarian options on the menu, and she enjoyed it. The Shoyu BBQ sauce had a little spiciness, and the coconut chili slaw definitely had some heat. Next, I had the Fire Walker (Del Maguey Mezcal, Lime, Pineapple, Passion Fruit, Falernum, Habanero Bitters, $14 minus $2 happy hour discount). The mezcal was a little bolder than I usually like, but it was good with light passion fruit flavor, and a nice kick from the habanero bitters. Her second drink was the Monkey Pod (Ron Del Barrilto Rum, Lime, Tamarind, Coconut, $13 minus $2 happy hour discount). It was balanced with tamarind and lime up front with coconut in the background. We had one last round and I got the Dr. Bamboo (Dr. Bird Jamaican Rum, 151 Rum, All-Spice, Prickly Pear, Cinnamon, $16). This one was my favorite. It is a little boozy, but balanced and lush with good allspice and pear flavor. It also feels like a generous pour. Her last cocktail was the Jungle Bird (Caruba Dark Jamaican Rum, Lime, Pineapple, Coconut Washed Campari, $14 minus $2 happy hour discount). This was also very good, and their version isn't as bitter as most. Our bartender Steph was awesome. He was very friendly, had great knowledge of the cocktail menu, and provided great service. He even let us try a little sample of one of his drink concoctions he was working on. Our evening here during happy hour was an absolute bargain. We had two appetizers, two entrees, and six cocktails, and the bill was just a bit over $100. One negative is that the men's room behind the bar is kind of gross and feels very inconsistent with the rest of the bar. It's very punk with stickers all over and it stinks. The bottom line is that the food and drinks are pretty good, and they're an excellent value during happy hour. Service was great, and the atmosphere is ok. this place definitely has a fun vibe, as they really nailed the tiki aesthetic. i stopped by for a friend's birthday and had a quick drink and some food. i can't say i'm at bars often, but for one of my limited experiences, it was a pretty fun time. we were seated outside, and it ended up being comfortable. they had heaters set up, which i appreciated since it can get chilly. i ordered a mocktail that was pretty good, like a virgin piña colada but with orange instead of coconut since i'm not the biggest coconut gal. service-wise, it felt a little mixed. the server gave me a bit of a look when i ordered the mocktail to sub coconut with orange, which made me feel a little embarrassed, and it also seemed like things got a bit overwhelmed because i was initially brought an alcoholic drink and had to remind them i'd ordered non-alcoholic. i also tried the ahi poke, which was mostly delicious, but i think there may have been cilantro in it even though it wasn't listed, so i ended up not finishing it. despite the small mishaps, overall, it seems to be a fun spot to hang out with friends, especially for the atmosphere. i'd probably come back to try a couple of other things if i'm in the mood for that kind of bar scene. read more

I organized two group outings to the Bamboo Club recently and both groups had a great time. The staff were welcoming and made our experiences positive. Happy hour is all day Monday and Tuesday, Wed-Fri 3-6 pm, and Tuesday also has Taco specials. On my first visit I tried the Singapore Sling, wings, ahi tacos, and bread pudding. The singapore sling was very good. The chicken wings were large, juicy, and well sauced. The tacos were good, but the soft taco shells were a bit stale. The bread pudding was enough to split among our group and was ok but not great. On my second visit I had the Bye Bye Ladies (my favorite of the three drinks I tried), Thai Me a River, Roll-Subi, and Crispy Chicken Sandwich. So happy we decided to stop in for a drink and some grub on our way back from the Long Beach Pow Wow--what an absolute treat. I love a good tiki bar, and this one is definitely up there in the ranks. Another great visit! Again, I ordered the vegan Moco Loco and again, it was simply delicious. I had a virgin Painkiller with dinner, too. I do drink alcohol, but wanted something sweet at fruity without booze. It was great. We ordered the shishito peppers for an appetizer. I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I read about them on the menu, but they were literally just like, sauteed whole peppers in a great sauce and seasoning. These are very basic drinks made with very basic spirits, and not balanced well, the decor was ok for just a bar, but if you are truly into tiki, this is not for you. The part that really got me was being told at the end, "there is an automatic 18% tip for the Halloween popup." Seriously get out of here with that. I went to 9 tiki bars this week, 80% of them decorated for Halloween, and decorated tastefully with knockout drinks, and wasn't charged a since cent for it. Especially for budget cobwebs and other trinkets thrown around just because. Strongwater, fully decorated, James beard nominated, doesn't charge for Halloween decorations and they are less then 20 minutes from here. The up charge is actually quite ridiculous. I'll start with the good stuff. The customer service and the ambiance was great. Our server Brian was very kind and attentive. The ambiance is fun and loud. The DJ started at 9pm so there was even dancing in the inside, we sat outside in the patio area. There's tons of multi color lights and other outdoor lights. It's very fun and a great place to go any day of the week honestly. The food is just okay though. We ordered some potstickers, the masubi, and the garlic noodles. Everything was delicious except for the masubi. I'm not sure if we just received an odd batch but our rice was rock hard and it was just disgusting. 2nd time here came with friends to have adult time and dinner. This place is such a vibe and they had a DJ playing music when we got there. It was pretty busy but we got seated pretty quickly since my friend made reservations. There was 5 of us, the 3 of us ordered the pain killer drinks and the fluffy banana but mine was virgin lol don't make fun ahha, the Mochiko chicken bowl, one ordered the Loco Moco, and a burger with fries. The mochiko chicken was delicious crispy and flavorful. The pickled vegetables were also very delicious and we all ordered the side of mac salad. We visited The Bamboo Club around Halloween and walked in without a reservation. Thankfully, the hostess was very friendly and helped us snag seats at the bar. That said, the overall experience was disappointing. As we looked around at the décor, my first comment to my husband was that it felt like "budget Halloween" -- basically standard Halloween decorations thrown on top of the tiki décor. While the hostess was great, the rest of the service fell short. The bartenders seemed extremely rushed and not very friendly. We decided to start the night with one of their shared bowls, which was presented in a really fun way -- it looked like a face breathing fire, and visually it was super cool. Unfortunately, the drink itself wasn't good at all. It was poorly balanced and just didn't taste great. After that, we waited quite a while and were never checked on again. At that point, we decided to call it a night and had to flag someone down just to get the check. To make matters worse, we noticed an automatic 18% gratuity added for the "Halloween Popup." This felt very steep for just two people sharing one drink and receiving minimal service. Now looking into reviews this is a recurring policy during holidays, and it seems many guests aren't happy about it. The shoshito peppers are a must - flavorful with the right amount of spicy. There are several vegan/vegetarian options but haven't eatten too much here. This place is cute, it's definitely got a tiki dive bar kinda feel to it. Personally, I like sitting in the back patio for the colorful string lights and tiny waterfall in the corner. May stay for dinner next time. The fried shishito peppers were great, but it was a hit or miss if you happened to get one that was incredibly spicy. The sweet sauce they put on top was nice. I surprised my girlfriend with this as our dinner for Valentine's Day. It's a good thing i made reservations a week in advance because this spot was almost three hours for walk-ins. We got to sit outside and were comfortably near a heater. For an appertizer, we shared pork potstickers and my girlfriend had the deep fried spam masubi, Thats not my cup of tea but she enjoyed every bite of it. The potstickers were good and the sauce was great. For dinner i had the Bamboo Club Burger with fried and she had the fried chicken sandwich. From the photos included, you get to see what the masubi looks like in the middle and the delicious but pricey Mojitos that were worth every penny. I started going to this bar around 2 years ago and it quickly became a favorite. If you are looking for being immersed in a tiki bar this is the place to go! Whether you want to grab a bite to eat, share a Lapu Lapu bowl with a friend or grab a cocktail just for yourself the ambiance is incredible (especially if you are looking for a bar that pours a little heavy). They almost always have live music and people dancing their little hearts out. I will say that in the past year this place has become pretty popular and is very packed especially on the weekends. If you go during the weekend and late they will probably have a cover charge. They only have a small parking lot and it can be hard to find parking in that neighborhood late at night. The drinks are also a little pricey, my go to is a pina colada and it is 17$. Overall if you are looking for a lively tiki bar this is definitely the place to go, just be aware that it is on the pricier end and keep in mind the time and day you are going if you don't want to pay a cover charge. read more
