This was my husband's and I first time at Saint & Second, and it absolutely will not be our last. I parked right in front of the restaurant, walked in, and we were greeted by Demetrius, who had the most welcoming smile ever. He was kind, polite, and carried himself with such warmth -- and yes, those curls were beautiful. He set the tone for the entire experience. Demetrius seated us, and our server Joe took great care of us. For starters, we ordered the wedge salad and the meatballs. Both were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. For our entrées, we had the grilled salmon with bok choy and mashed potatoes, and the steak sandwich with French fries. Everything was delicious, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. The ambience was wonderful. They have a full bar, and you can watch the chefs prepare dishes right from your table, which adds to the experience. I also appreciated seeing the general manager actively running food and engaging with guests -- leadership like that shows. Another thing that stood out was how clean and organized the restaurant stayed. The moment a table was vacated, it was cleared and reset within minutes. Everything looked spotless. There's so much on the menu that I want to come back and try. I highly recommend this place. And last but definitely not least -- thank you, Demetrius, for noticing my parking time had expired and getting me that extra 15 minutes. You saved me a ticket. You're a true gem. We had a great lunch at Saint & Second! I came here with my lovely four-legged baby after a walk at the beach, and the staff was very welcoming. The Bake Mac & Cheese is a must-order--the crunchy topping is easily the best part and gives it such a great texture. We also tried the Grilled Provoleta. It's a seared provolone with portobello mushrooms and pickled peppers; it doesn't have a typical "cheese pull," but the flavors are incredible and it feels surprisingly light for a cheese dish. Came here yesterday for the first time. I was with my daughter and decided to try this place for lunch. It is a great looking restaurant with a nice second floor . You can sit up there and get a nice breeze and people watch at the same time. The service is also great , the staff is very attentive. My daughter ordered the traditional breakfast and I ordered the classic eggs Benedict. My daughter liked her breakfast ,she especially liked how creamy and soft the eggs were. Her dish came with bacon, a couple of slices of sourdough and some fingerlings baby potatoes. I think that is my biggest complaint. The potatoes are just seasoned with Parmesan cheese and that is all . They aren't sliced, they are seasoned they are just too plain. Worth a visit! Reservations recommended for their dinner area on 1st floor. We did place our name on the list however made our way to 2nd floor which was self seating, first come, first serve. I ended up liking the vibe and atmosphere here more, considering the lounge seating, outdoor setting overlooking 2nd street, and music that was played louder but still reasonable here compared to 1st floor. We had the braised short rib appetizer, cranberry chicken, and seared salmon. Such beautiful, elevated dishes, flavorful with each bite. I didn't realize they also have a second floor overlooking 2nd Street, which would've been great to know ahead of time, but the inside space itself is still very stylish and inviting. The food is a bit pricey, and I honestly think the Yelp price rating should be updated to $$$. The drinks were mediocre, not bad, but not anything special. My wife ordered the Maestro which was a little different in taste. For food, we started with the ricotta meatballs in sauce, and they were incredible, easily the best meatballs I've ever had. We came here on a Wednesday afternoon in the pouring rain and there was tons of seating available. Parking is metered parking on the street and I imagine that it would be harder to find parking on a regular day or in the evening. The ambiance is quite upscale and this restaurant would serve well for date night. We ordered the French onion soup, Crispy chicken sandwich with truffle fried and the Fish and chips with regular fries. The French Onion soup was delicious - warm, melting cheese, bread soaked in completely...it was excellent! It was also quite heavy so I'm glad that we ordered only one to share. The fish and chips was surprisingly good. The haddock fillet was cooked to perfection and the breading was light but crispy. The tartar sauce with it was very very good. They didn't provide any malt vinegar. The fries were thin and crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside which we liked. The crispy chicken sandwich was also very good. The chicken, again, had a thin but crispy breading that was beaded with black pepper, chili and I guess, some peanut powder as per the menu. It was lovely to eat. The sandwich was filled with kimchi sauce, cabbage and Korean pickles to give it an Asian zing. The truffle fries were delicious but I would have liked a little more truffle oil. We typically come here for dinner, but today we decided to come for brunch. One thing about it, the food is never a miss! And that's why we call this cozy little viby place our favorite restaurant. The Smoked Tri-tip Hash was brilliantl flavored. It was seriously so good. And the Pecan Pie French Toast will literally make you drool. I had to pack the rest to-go but it was worth every bite. Really excellent hospitality! Dave went above and beyond in making sure we had options. Ryan was patient and friendly, even after a scammer ran off without paying her bill. He didn't even let it affect his attitude, and I'm not sure I would have adapted so well. He's really a class act. I have a headache from hell but wanted a Caesar salad so bad. I got it with the grilled chicken. Beautiful amounts of parm, loved the crispies, not an overwhelming amount of dressing. I got a lemon drop martini which was phenomenal along with the S&S burger. This burger was probably the best burger I've had in a while. I think I had a dream about it last night. The mashed potatoes were delightful, buttery, airy, and the perfect texture. My girlfriend got the fish and chips, the fish was cooked to perfection and the sauce was extremely lemony/flavorful. Saint & Second always feels special to me and is still one of the most beautiful restaurants I've been to. Tonight was perfect all around. Came in on a Sunday at 5:45pm and were seated quickly even though the restaurant was lively with guests. Our server was honestly amazing, kind, gave good recommendations, and had the kitchen split our meal onto different plates for us without us even asking. My boyfriend and I split the spicy tuna crispy rice and French onion soup appetizers, and the pork chop entre. Each item we got was to die for. I've only been here twice, but have had a nice experience both times. It's right in the heart of Belmont Shores, situated on the corner. Even though there's tons of seating both indoors and out, the restaurant tends to get pretty crowded on weekends. I recommend reservations. That's what I do. The first time I visited, I sat at a booth downstairs and ate an expensive burger. It was ok. The last time I visited, I sat outside on their second floor patio and ate the chilaquiles. New Year's Eve Dinner. We made reservations based on what sounded like a great menu.of offerings. Unlike Thanksgiving, where they offer a special menu along with their regular, only the Special NYE menu was offered, which was fine as why we came dinner. Service as always was excellent. Our server, C, was very friendly (and funny). We brought a bottle of our own wine (very soecial bottle) and requested to.have it decanted (older vintage with sediment). Their corkage fee is very reasonable, $25. C took very good care of us, checked in often, refilled our wine glasses and waters. The food, a bit disappointing in comparison to our many other visits. Possibly new menu items and execution was not quite there. We started with the Parker House Rolls. I sure hope they consider keeping these on their regular menu! Rolls stuffed with garlic and Truffle butter, so good! Next we ordered the Gem Ceasar Salad, very good as it usually is (a staple and on their regular menu). I ordered the Beef Wellington. I was so excited to try this! It's usually quite a bit of work to prepare and an item I rarely make at home! A bit of a surprise when it was served. I would call it more of a deconstructed Beef Wellington. There were mushrooms (and a nice variety) on the side and the Beef sat on top of Purple Mashed Potatoes with a piece of pastry placed over the top (not a completely wrapped roll with the meat and mushrooms with thecsauce on top). The filet was done perfectly, rare, and tasty. The pastry wasn't completely baked and with the mashed potatoes under the beef and Bordelaise sauce under the potato layer that just gave an overall soggy feel to the entree. Soggy bottom and top! Moving on to the Tomahawk. My husband and son ordered the Tomahawk for two. The sides, including the fingerling potatoes, were all done al dente, which were great. The meat was sliced thick, with lots of fat, flavor was just okay. We have ordered Tomahawks before and definitely this one was no where near as good as the other ones we have had recently. It should have been sliced thin but guessing with all the fat, maybe they weren't able to? Not a great cut. We took Basque Cheesecake to go for dessert. We enjoyed it later. It was good just not amazing. Overall, we will be returning as we love Saint and Second just not for NYE. We spent well over $400 and left disappointed! Revisited for brunch on the weekend, and once again, everything was amazing. I would say that this second visit was even better than my first. I think it's great that they have three different food menus for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. The Mac & 'Shrooms' is still my favorite menu item here. It seems like a pretty simple dish, but tastes so good. One of their specialties is the Huevos Rancheros, which includes two eggs, black beans, cotija, pickled red onion, corn tortilla tostadas, avocado, and chipotle crema. This had so many flavors going on all at once and was very enjoyable to eat. I recommend getting the eggs cooked over easy. Another brunch item that I ordered is the Maine Lobster Roll. The portion of lobster was quite generous. Not the best lobster roll I've ever eaten, but it was decent. Wow, this place is literally a 10 out of 10. First off, we arrived without reservation, and the staff were super friendly and they were able to take us in immediately. Our waiter was super nice. He even gave recommendations on the drink, and their drink was literally so good and fresh. It literally tasted like fall in a drink. The macaroni and cheese was so good. It was so flavorful and it is a pretty big portion. It was very creamy and rich. We were able to share it between two people. The rolls were absolutely delicious. Honestly, I think it is one of the best rolls/bread I have had in my life. 10/10. I will say it it is on the pricier side but so worth it even for drinks and appetizers. My only regret is not trying more things on the menu. They have outdoor seating on the first floor as well as the second floor. The first floor was where we sat and surprisingly they also have outdoor heater so you really cannot feel the chilly wind at all. She does very well at this place and I think it's because the kids menu is actually really good (the cheese toast is HUGE) and the tables are nice and low and she can see all around. We haven't gone with both our toddler and baby yet. As a date night spot, it's still a favorite with good food and tasty seasonal cocktails. Loved the upstairs couch seating. Came with a group of friends, we were crawling 2nd street and started our journey here. Service was swift and drinks were on point. I had an old fashioned.
