Dolores, what can I say...exceptional! I've been coming here since when it was previously The Social List. The food, service, just the overall hospitality never disappoints! The restaurant is family owned, and they not only treat their patrons like family, but they treat their staff with the utmost support and love. The food! Every single item I have eaten thus far has been so delicious! Today I had the pot roast....so damn good! My husband had his favorite: the western bacon vegan cheeseburger. He says it tastes better than Carls Jr! We also had the Kung Pao Cauliflower...it has just enough of a spicy kick that doesn't overwhelm the rest of the taste. They also do a once a month event called on a Tuesday called the Good Luck Vinyl Club. It's a listening session focused on one particular album. Speciality cocktails are made the for the event along with a limited menu selection since it's get really packed and sells out! I would highly recommend going to this event if you can! The ambiance, its open air space and very welcoming. It's a wonderful spot to gather with your friends, family, or even if you go solo! Went to check out Delores. Greeted by a young gal who gave us menus to peruse as we stood outside. We decided to go check out a different place. We left the menus and were standing outside the restaurant looking at our phones. A server (Tall stocky dude with dark hair and scraggly beard) decided he didn't like us standing there and asked if we needed any help not once not twice but three times, each time escalating to a shout. we ignored him and I think that might have triggered him? It was a very odd exchange and we won't ever be back. He was rude and made us feel very uncomfortable as we chose to ignore him. Totally unprofessional. Do better!!! read more

I brought three first-time guests to Dolores for the special oldies music night, and unfortunately, our experience was ruined by our server (a tall, sassy, and stocky man with a beard) before we even ordered. Despite having a party of five, he repeatedly insisted he couldn't seat us inside, suggesting we sit outdoors in the rain and making a sarcastic comment that he "can't control the weather", something none of us had even brought up. When we asked to stand by the bar out of the rain until the event started, he was visibly annoyed. Once we moved inside, he immediately demanded our order. When I politely asked for menus, he condescendingly replied, "You didn't look at them outside? That's crazy." After realizing how unprofessional he sounded, he tried to brush it off as "just a joke," but his hostile attitude throughout made it clear it wasn't. Later that night when we passed by we saw everyone standing around the main floor. I wonder if he told them that they can't stand there either? As a former server, I understand that hospitality can be challenging, but there is no excuse for treating polite, paying customers with such open disrespect and sarcasm. This place is actually pretty good. It's a small little restaurant in a less crowded area of Long Beach. Not as busy as Belmont Shore. It's a little dark inside and they play some pretty mellow music. We visited on a Thursday and I guess on Thursdays, it's "Happy Hour" all day. I wasn't very hungry so we didn't get anything from the Happy Hour menu. We both actually ordered the same thing, the short rib melt. It comes with garlic fries. The sandwich is pretty good. It comes with mushrooms and some spicy peppers. I don't do spicy so I kept those out. I wasn't in the mood for dessert or anything but maybe next time. The customer service was good. Visiting from out of town, I joined my sister at one of her regular weekly spots where she meets up with friends. I felt lucky to tag along and experience it with them. They had recently updated the menu, so she was especially curious to see what had changed, though disappointed to find that her favorite, the chicken tenders, had been removed. We decided to share the honey chipotle sandwich and the gem Caesar salad. The salad was fresh and the dressing was on point, though it could have used a bit more greens and maybe some bacon for extra flavor. The sandwich was tasty but leaned a little heavy on the honey sauce for my preference. The standout was definitely the fries, perfectly crispy from a double fry, topped with fresh herbs and absolutely delicious. The interior has a warm, inviting feel with wood furnishings, and we enjoyed a nice ocean breeze throughout our meal. Our server was pleasant and attentive. My husband and I decided to go to The Social List around 2 p.m. on a Friday, and it was empty, which was nice. We got a great spot outside, although I do feel like the outdoor tables are pretty small, even for just two people. Still, we wanted to sit in the sun. We started with the coconut shrimp. What made them unique was the seasoning, it gave the shrimp a savory flavor, while the crispy coconut panko added just the right amount of sweetness. They weren't overly sweet like most coconut shrimp, and honestly, they were flavorful enough to eat without the sweet chili sauce. My husband ordered the Backyard Burger and really enjoyed it. His garlic fries were crispy and not overly garlicky; more like regular fries, which he loved. The star of the show for me was the fig & blue burger. It was like eating a charcuterie board in burger form. The fig jam, blue cheese, patty, and bacon all worked perfectly together; sweet and savory in the best way. The only downside was how messy and sticky it was, but that's how you know it's good. The side salad was just okay, but it's a side salad, so I didn't expect much. I hate having to leave this as all the other experience has always been amazing. This was the first time we stopped by after the name change for brunch during pride weekend on Sunday. There was already a good amount of people waiting when we arrived. They actually were able to seat us right away on the side where the street was at one of the high top counter. Don't think people wanted those seats. One section was empty which we asked if they could moved the umbrella a little to shade us and the other section. We couldn't sit there as we were told that it was for a group of three that was waiting already and they requested it shaded. Ok, so we can't share the umbrella.... Anyway, we sat down and did move the umbrella a little where it would shade everyone but the hostess came back minutes later and moved it back. And of course, the group didn't even sit there which they ended up putting two other people who didn't even care if the umbrella was there... Enough of that. Service was on the slow side. It did take a while till someone came over to take our order as well as brought over some water. Menu did look similar but I'm not sure if they added new items on the menu. After we ordered which did take a while a drink did come out. I had to walk over to the bar section to ask for a straw. Appetizer did come out pretty fast which was the onion blossom. It looked amazing, a little salty but good. The waiter that brought it out for us, I asked for an extra side of dipping but that never came out. As for the main, the honey chicken sandwich and the breakfast croissant. Well, when the dish came out, one of the order was wrong. Instead of croissant sandwich, it was a breakfast sandwich instead. Server was a little taken back and asked the waiter which they looked somewhat confused. Don't know if it was an honest mistake or they just put in the wrong order. Anyways, had to wait for that to come out. Again, still didn't get any extra sauce which I ended up walking to a table to grab some ketchup instead. One of the server did notice but was like whatever. Rarely did we get checked on until I asked for a refill which was once the whole time. When the bill came, I had to ask again. Not once did water get refilled the whole time till the end. Service was just not the same as prior visit. Cool place located next to cafes, shops, bars, and other restaurants. It's nice for a day out to walk around and stop for lunch, apps, or an early dinner. We came to enjoy some apps for a light brunch and ordered a bottle of champagne (that came with orange juice or pineapple juice), as well as patatas bravas (savory potatoes dressed in Cajun seasoning and slightly zesty) and brisket nachos - pretty simple and good to snack on. Nice, modern, and airy brunch spot with both indoor and outdoor seating. I think it's perfect for a day out. I'll start with my only complaint- there were too many options. I think Chef Navarro would benefit from a smaller, more refined menu. For any french fry connoisseur, do not miss out on Dolores' 'eczema fries'. For those who aren't familiar with the term, albeit a tad grotesque, 'eczema fries' refers to those flakey, crispy fries that are so few and far between but when plated in front of you, leave you with a fry you search for in every bar and restaurant until you find them again. So damn good! All of it! We had family visiting Long Beach from out of state and decided to make a touristy type evening out of it. I booked us a whale watching boat ride and then dinner reservations here. The boat ride ended up getting in way later than expected and we called the restaurant to let them know we were running late. They were so accommodating. They nicely explained that as long as we showed up, they would get us in. I greatly appreciated it, since we had two, hungry, young kids with us too. As it turns out, I wouldn't recommend going on the fourth Friday of the month, unless you're also prepared on going for the exercise. It's market night and the parking is horrendous - like parking a mile away and that's with good luck! Most of our party seated and started on some plates and drinks, while one was gone on a good 40 min drive/walk back trying to find parking. Inside is not very big, and only one restroom, but they all made it feel so welcoming, that we didn't mind at all. Plus, it was great for people watching and the food and drinks really were all top notch. I was drinking the Thai Fighter cocktail - freaking amazing and I could have drank that all night long. There were so many things we wanted to try, and ended up with a lot of apps - fried calamari (loved that these weren't traditional style, much thicker), mamas meatballs (tender, not dry, loved the bread, should have asked for extra sauce to drown the bread in), poke nachos (very good), kung pao wings (loved these!!) , coconut shrimp (huge, perfectly crispy, great spicy sauce), clam chowder (perfect), and a bacon burger with garlic fries (again, perfect all around). The flavors were spot with each and every dish. And I definitely want to come back to try more. It all worked out for us in the end. I've stopped by here for drinks plenty of times, but this is my first time staying here for a sit-down dinner. I came about an hour before close and the service was still very friendly and accommodating-- I did not feel rushed to leave because it was close to closing time. The waitress made some great recommendations on specials they were having that night, like these beautiful, delicious lamb chop lollipops that we got as an appetizer. For cocktails I got the Golden Hour and the Thai Fighter. I really liked this Golden Hour drink, it had a very punchy passion fruit flavor that was extremely tart and fruity, which complimented the cocktail very well. I come here just for the Thai Fighter sometimes, and I have written my love for it before! I love the gingery sweetness and the little tomato they use for garnish.  For food we got lamb chop lollipops, which were served with a delicious, freshy, zesty, tangy tzatziki. This was a special for the night, but I would highly recommend it if you see it. We also got the chicken pot pie and the spicy garlic shrimp pasta. The spicy garlic shrimp pasta was good, but it was lackluster and a bit expensive for what you get, honestly. It wasn't bad, but I would probably get something a little different next time. The chicken pot pie was stellar! The pasty was flaky, crispy, and soaked up the gravy really well. The sauce was thick and creamy and had a great flavor of chicken and simmered vegetables. Overall, I recommend The Social List for date night if you enjoy a good cocktail, standard American fare, and a calm, welcoming vibe. My boyfriend and I decided to go to the Social List last night, especially because we heard that they had a Halloween menu. From the moment you walk in, the restaurant is decked out in fun decor for spooky season. It helped get into the swing of the season. Our waiter was attentive and I decided on the Ghostbusters cocktail and the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice pasta. The cocktail was sweet and tart, the perfect mixture. I had a very disappointing experience at The Social List/Dolores. Our server, Brooke, seemed more focused on clearing our table than ensuring we were enjoying our meal. Throughout the evening, she repeatedly attempted to take away our food and drinks without first asking whether we were finished. While that was frustrating, it was not the main issue. The much bigger problem was that we were served raw chicken skewers. Due to how dark the restaurant is, we did not immediately notice that the chicken was undercooked until after I had already eaten one of the skewers. When we brought it to the staff's attention, there was little concern shown regarding the seriousness of serving raw poultry. No effort was made to comp the receipt or otherwise address the situation in a meaningful way. Unfortunately, the consequences didn't end at the restaurant. After eating the chicken, I experienced severe stomach issues and gastrointestinal discomfort for the next two weeks. What should have been an enjoyable dining experience turned into weeks of feeling sick. Mistakes can happen in any restaurant, but serving raw chicken is a serious food safety issue. What was most disappointing was the lack of accountability and concern shown after the problem was brought to their attention. I hope management takes food safety more seriously moving forward so other guests don't have a similar experience. read more

Popped down to LBC last Sunday for their Good luck Vinyl Club event, which took place from 5-9pm. The theme of this weekly event is centered around vinyl record selectors of various genres. That week the DJ was KOTA (from Stones Throw Records), that spun soul, funk, and boogie! I want to mention that the music played that day was family friendly, and stuff that would be enjoyed by all generations--nothing offensive or too wild. They also had a $6 wine pour special during that time. This spot is equally bar + restaurant, catering to good times and family. You can feel the vibes as soon as you enter! The menu was awesome and had something for every taste. We tried the poke nachos and grilled chicken sandwich. Both were excellent! They also had some interesting cocktail specials that day and I tried the banana one which was delicious and unique! Service was also top-notch and we felt very taken care of during our leisurely dinner and drinks. Never felt rushed! Friendly folks also; had a few chats as I waited in line for the restroom lol The restaurant itself was really awesome to modern but cozy and really like the indoor outdoor vibes.
