I was invited by friends of mine to play trivia on a Thursday night. I got the smash burger, it was pretty good. I also ordered the ribs as an appetizer it had unique flavors. It's a classy spot they have a good selection of tequila, really good cocktails. And the service was great. Overall the trivia was great it paired well with good food and good drinks. Had an awesome experience at Louie's on Second, and a huge part of that was the service. Christopher and Dennis were absolutely fantastic. From the moment we sat down, they were welcoming, very funny, and incredibly personable. They took the time to really explain the menu and drinks without rushing us, answered all our questions, and made great recommendations based on what we liked. You can tell they genuinely know the menu and enjoy what they do. Their patience and sense of humor made the whole experience feel relaxed and fun, not transactional at all. We accidentally showed up on trivia night, so we got seated outside. Honestly, that ended up being the least memorable part of the evening. The night started with a waiting game. We had enough time to decide what we wanted to drink, change our minds, and decide again before anyone came over to take our order. The crispy Brussels sprouts were the MVP of the table. Crispy, flavorful, and the whole hazelnuts were such a good touch. No notes. We also ordered the sourdough bread. It's not complimentary, so make sure you ask for it. It took a while to show up, but unlike some other things we ordered, it was worth the wait. The Chilean sea bass tasted like the chef accidentally unscrewed the lid instead of using the salt shaker. It was overwhelmingly salty, and the fish was a little soggy. The vegetables, though, were actually excellent. The chicken piccata had the opposite issue. There was enough pasta to feed an army, but the chicken must have had somewhere else to be. The Brussels sprouts and sourdough did their best to carry the meal, but they couldn't do it alone. First, the menu did not match the menu posted on Google (entirely different menu) which was very disappointing. I had looked forward to enjoying the pork shank, my wife the roasted chicken and we were both disappointed to find our options very limited based on the actual menu. One of the staff indicated she had brought this up to the owner a month ago when the menu changed. We would not have chosen to patronize this establishment but did not want to be impolite and leave after being seated. The crispy Brussel sprouts were too sweet, very soggy and the bottom of the bowl was filled with a broth-like liquid (warm maple syrup - ?)...thinking too much syrup which liquified. The burger was overall okay but not at aligned with the $26 price point. Bacon crispy and flavorful. Fries excessively salty. The burrata, bread (bread was top notch!) were delicious however, the what appears to be tomato (presented underneath the burrata) was chunky and tasteless. The musicians added a nice touch. Service was attentive, everyone we encountered was pleasant, helpful and observant. Coffee was hot and good quality. Mexican lager a nice change from my usual choices and Babcock's Fathom a nice wine and different than the standard choices. Overall, not worth the $120 bill based on food quality....if pork shank and roasted chicken had been available and of great quality, I would not have a problem paying a higher tab so it's not about price point but rather value. read more

My friend and I came in for an early dinner during the week and there was only one woman both serving and bartending. We had to wait at the entrance for a bit before being acknowledged because I believe she was in the back. She was doing the best she could, but service was lacking because she had a lot to handle. We split two items, and both were pretty average. Neither of us were a fan of the garlic noodles. They were almost TOO garlic-y and both the noodles and the chicken were overcooked. The Burger Louie was better, and I appreciated that they cut it in half for us because we told them we were splitting it. Wanted to love Louie's on 2nd but it was just an okay experience. The venue is modern and beautiful and offers nice bar, booth, tables and outdoor patio seating. I was looking for a couple items that I saw on Yelp like the French Onion Soup, but sadly did not see that on the actual menu. My friend and I split the Steak Frites which came with an 8oz steak which was prepared perfectly at Medium rare but did not have a lot of flavor to it. The fries also were somewhat cold, and the side salad that came with this seemed unnecessary. We also ordered the Heirloom Tomato Salad, which honestly probably wasn't necessary, though we didn't realize the steak already came with a side salad. The service felt a bit slow given it was a pretty empty restaurant for a Sat night. The menu is small but well thought-out and nicely executed. There's a smallish (and gougy) wine list, but I get it, that helps keep entree prices more reasonable. That said, it'd be nice to offer some "house" wines at lower prices. There's a large selection of beers, probably a nod to its location, and a full bar with a selection of specialty cocktails, too. Service is professional and attentive and (manager) Dennis is great: he's engaging and I got the feeling quite a few people here are "regulars". We enjoyed interacting with him. Overall, a nice place. If you're in the area give them a try, especially since it doesn't seem to get as crowded as other restaurants in the area. Came in one afternoon for lunch with my girl and remembered real quick why this place is always in the conversation on 2nd Street. We started with a bottle of sauvignon blanc and the sticky ribs. The ribs were a fun surprise, not your standard BBQ style. Sauce had great flavor, the meat was tender, and it felt a little more elevated than you'd expect for "just" an appetizer. For my main I didn't even pretend to branch out. I went straight for my usual triple smash burger. I'll die on this hill, it's easily one of the best burgers on 2nd. Perfect crust on the patties, juicy inside, cheese melted right, bun holds up and doesn't disintegrate halfway through. It never misses. My girl went with the basil chicken sandwich and was happy with her choice. Good portion, juicy chicken, and she actually stopped talking for a few minutes which is usually a good sign. After we ate we slid over to the bar for a couple cocktails and to watch the game. This is where Louies really shines. The bartenders actually know what they're doing. Drinks are balanced, not all sugar, and they're quick without making you feel rushed. Service in general has always been consistent for me here. Friendly, on top of refills, and they check in just enough. The space itself is sharp and clean, feels polished without being stiff. I've never had a bad experience at Louies. Every visit has been the same formula: good food, good drinks, solid service, and an easy place to hang out for a few hours. I want to start off by saying I would like to give Louie's 3.5 stars if I could. They aren't bad but they aren't great either. I've been putting off trying Louie's for a while now simply because the restaurant doesn't seem inviting to me. I'm not sure what it is but they need different tables and chairs. I feel like the restaurant is trying to look fancy but the tables and chairs make it look so cheap. Instead of one giant long booth seating they should have had smaller individual booths facing the other direction. I think they were short staffed when we went but our server did a great job and was very charismatic. I will say the drinks were pretty good, no complaints here. The food wasn't bad by any means but it also just didn't wow me. I ordered the Louie burger with garlic fries. I ordered it medium rare but I would it was more on the medium well side. It wasn't bad but I've definitely had better. My husband ordered a steak sandwich and it was underwhelming. I'm not sure why they asked how he wanted the meat cooked because the steak was so thinly sliced it was definitely cooked well done. The sandwich also needed way more meat in my opinion. The flavor wasn't bad but the meat to bun ratio just wasn't working. Overall it wasn't a bad experience but I think they have the potential to be so much better. read more

3.4 stars I think this restaurant is decent, but I wasn't wow'd or anything. The food menu was limited, but the drinks menu was pretty extensive. If you like alcohol, then this is the place to be! The interior decor was nice and clean. The servers are nice. It's dog-friendly like other restaurants on 2nd. I ordered Louie's Classic burger ($15) and it was good. I got the beef patty well-done (b/c I planned to give some to my dog), fries without salt, and a coke ($4). I thought it was good, but I guess that's all I can say. Their tipping on the card machine is set at 20%, which, frankly, is excessive for a single person with minimal needs to dine there. The restaurant is somewhat small, so I'd make sure to reserve a table in advance if you want to ensure a patio spot or you're hosting a large group. Everything we ordered was fantastic. We had a great onion soup and some shrimp to start. For our entrees a few of us had burgers, and the rest of us had the steak frites (so good - that steak was amazing), the Bahn Mi tacos (which I loved and enjoyed the spicy jalapeños), and the lemon pasta with chicken (it was good, not great). We were here on their grand opening over a year ago and have dined here a million times since then. Their food and drinks are great but it's the servers and staff that work here that makes us repeat customers. Cynthia, Kenyon, Dennis and Danielle are awesome! My hubby loves their smash burgers (and I do, too). It's not just any ordinary smash burger, it's a triple smash! Order it with the garlic fries and you won't regret it. For drinks, I always order a margarita and the mango marg is my fave. Hubby orders a beer and he switches it up and likes to try different ones. They've got a lot of great local beers on tap. We ordered the avocado toast which I have to say had way to much slaw on it and they had unnecessarily smashed the avocado instead of just slicing it which would have been better for this sandwich. It's my birthday and my big brother took me to this restaurant and I had never been and can I just say the steak the vegetables the salad was wonderful. The steak melted in my mouth like butter. The heirloom carrots were amazing and the asparagus too and green beans and the mashed potatoes are so buttery. The service was impeccable Dillon. The waiter was spot on the cocktails were to die for and the chef Pete came out to greet us at the table and shook our hand because we had to compliment him. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend this place in Belmont Shore not just because of the great food and the great service because the atmosphere as well was so wonderful. After checking out the Christmas lights at Naples Canals. We stopped in for a quick bite one hour before they closed. We were not rushed at all. This is a pretty place. Good for families, groups, dates, etc. Unfortunately, we were told the Happy Hour didn't apply during the holiday. It was a monday. The service wasn't too slow considering there were two large parties before us. I wanted to split the three fish taco plate with my husband. I ordered the seasonal Salted Caramel Martini which had a nice pour. The tacos were the perfect portion size for the two of us and served hot! My son enjoyed his smash burger along with the garlic fries which are a must-try. Our server who also happened to be the manager, in one smooth move, saw that an extra plate wasn't not provided and brought an extra plate right under my hands as I reached for a taco. As recommended, I did order their specialty carrot cake which was not only a huge slice but not overly sweet and definitely didn't skimp on the nuts. Came here for the Smashburger and ended up, loving the fish tacos. We came to happy hour with the intention of trying their smash burger, but saw the fish tacos and steak tacos on the menu and decided to try those out. So glad we did because those fish tacos were absolutely fire. They were so crispy and a great size... none of these mini tacos that other places offer. They also had some very tasty drinks. The Bonnie and Clyde was our favorite and my BF appreciated that their Tom Collins was spot on. The restaurant is beautiful. We were able to sit with a view of second Street to watch all of the passerbyers. They have a very spacious bar and some elevated booths which help make it feel like you're not on top of other diners. Our waiter was really nice but a little slow. Didn't come to check up on us regularly. He had forgotten the Sriracha sauce for our steak tacos and we had to wait a good 15 minutes before we got it. Luckily, we were sharing the fish taco so we did have time to kill. Also, when he cleaned up our plates, he didn't ask if we wanted to dessert another drink just walked away. And my girlfriend got the garlic noodles with grilled chicken. Her noodles were literally just pasta olio e aglio with chicken with red chilli flakes. Very salty and VERY garlicy I wish they chilled on the garlic. Chicken was smooth. Now the burger was good I enjoyed it tasted like a homemade smash burger I make here at the house. But the fries are the star of the show. So crispy and amazing flavor paired with the ketchup was soooo good. And the portion was amazing I would go back just for the fries. The banh mi tacos tasted exactly how they sound. A banh mi taco with steak. Refreshing and decent worth a try.
