I bought my Hubbie the Long Beach Cafe Passports for stocking stuffers this year. There is one for all the burger places and one for all the pizza places (also one for coffee places, but we don't drink coffee). So not only will I be reviewing the restaurant, I'll also be reviewing the books. If you're like us, always trying to decide where to eat and always falling back on our usual places, this is the challenge for you. Using these passports will turn you on to places you wouldn't have thought of or even knew about. No more scrolling for restaurants. Check them out at www.thecafepassport.com. Each book has about 20 places for you to try out. It includes a rating system and room to make notes about the restaurant and the food. Perfect for someone like me who loves to do Yelp reviews. We started with Riley's on 2nd in Belmont Shores, Long Beach. The passport recommended the BBQ Bacon Burger, but I'm not much for BBQ sauce. So, I ordered the Bacon Brie Burger and the Hubs ordered the Short Rib Melt. Hubs gave me a bite of the Short Rib Melt. (We always share). The pickled onions and arugula really made the sandwich sing. Loved the tart with the saltiness of the meat. The Bacon Brie Burger, first, all burgers are 1/2 pounders. Very filling. This burger was hella delicious! I probably won't order it again. No reflection on the burger itself nor the chef. It's just that I was burping brie the rest of the night. Well worth it. If I do order it again, I think I will pass on the garlic mayo. I don't typically eat mayonnaise. Or, next time, I'll either order the Short Rib Sandwich or the Ahi Poke Salad. They have a pretty good menu. The service was quick. I think we waiting less than 15 minutes for our food, even though it was a busy Sunday and football was on all the TVs. We're fans so this was the perfect atmosphere for us. Lastly, we had the Pizza Port Chronic Amber Ale with our meal. That was a perfect brew match to our food. We're going to try to review either a burger joint or a pizza place each week in Long Beach. So stay tuned! and check our the Cafe Passports. It's kind of fun! Perfect spot for all American food! They have a pretty good happy hour deal M-F. Can tell Riley's is a staple for locals. Pretty casual vibe - seat yourself. The food was good!! Got the buffalo wings, NY Pizza, and House Burger. Serving sizes were large and we had more than enough food for leftovers. Very nice servers. I stopped by here with the pup for lunch after visiting the nearby dog beach. I was greeted with a friendly smile and the servers loved my dog. They automatically brought out a water bowl for him which was so nice. It was a beautiful day on the dog-friendly patio. I had the Steak Salad medium rare and it was delicious. I came here for bottomless mimosas on my birthday, and I will not be back! Originally, Riley's on 2nd was the plan because it was some of the cheapest bottomless mimosas we could find. It was very apparent they had to offer affordable bottomless mimosas because the food and service was below par. The waitresses were not very welcoming or helpful even though we let them know that this was our first time here. We asked for recommendations on what was popular to eat for brunch, to which she said the menu was pretty straightforward. We ended up getting a Bacon Brie Burger, Steak and Eggs, and Peanut Butter Maple Burger. Everything was super dry and flavorless.  There are plenty of other places to go in Long Beach, especially on 2nd Street alone. For bottomless mimosas with good food, I would recommend you to go to Mama's or Ellie's instead. read more

Bathrooms are gross. I can only speculate what the kitchen looks like considering no one's really cleaned the bathroom in 2 years.

Love this place. Stopped in with family, ordered my usual a steak salad..which was so good. The service is always good here. Everything came out pretty quick definitely didn't wait long. We only sat out on the patio so I can't comment about inside the restaurant that day.. but outside was clean and I noticed the server coming out frequently to check on us and pick up and clean tables. I used to come here often because it's so conveniently located on 2nd st in Belmont Shore in Long Beach and close to my home, and has a laidback bar ambiance. There is metered street parking or you can park for free on the side streets. However, after multiple times having terrible service ( I previously had delightful servers but not the past few visits) and not great food I finally had to decided that we're not going back and they probably don't even care. One draw to this place was that you can always find a seat at the bar and if the bar was full, there would be a high top you could sit at and order food at. The menu offers a lot of options but nothing was super outstanding and I usually ordered the strawberry goat cheese salad or the fig and pig pizza. However, the food was never consistent; sometimes it was ok and other times it was just bad. I never complained but it definitely varies in preparation and often times ingredients were missed and/or you could tell it sat for a while in the back prior to being delivered. After a few mediocre visits I came back because a friend suggested it and I ordered my typical go-to; the fig and pig pizza; a pizza with prosciutto and figs and arugula. It came out burnt with the prosciutto brittle and inedible and the figs deteriorated to dust when I tried to eat it. The bartender had waited on me multiple times and I always tipped 30% or more and she asked how it was and I told her it wasn't good and asked if they changed something because it seemed really overcooked. I had the one bite and she took it and dint offer anything else and also didn't take it off the bill and then she gave me a dirty look. I have never complained when the food wasn't good here but this was the last straw and I won't be back after going here for about 8 years. They don't want my business and I can find somewhere else to spend my money if they just truly don't care about their customers being happy. She made me super unfortunate even though she asked how it was and clearly asked me without me bringing it up so, I HIGHLY suggest skipping this place and going literally anywhere else nearby. read more

This spot was perfect to start the St Patrick's Day before heading next door. We waited a bit for them to order and sat outside during the beautiful day that it was. I had the classic meal with scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and diced potatoes. The sourdough bread that came with it was perfectly toasted and I didn't even need to ask for jam. They put plenty of melted butter on it and I was more than satisfied. My girlfriend had the short rib chilaquiles and enjoyed them a lot. I tried the meat and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We ordered a glass of orange juice and they managed to turn it green. It was good orange juice and Clarice was great looking after us. I will definitely go back there and maybe stay around and have drinks, while watching football. read more

Sky was very attentive. I ordered some hibiscus margarita which was pretty good, but I don't really like tequila. So I ended up ordering an old-fashioned and it was pretty large inside. no the pizza was a bit dry. The meat was overcooked. We only had about one slice each from both pizzas. Now the smash burger, secret sauce meat was done perfectly. That was great. The wings are good, but the sauce needed more flavor. So they get three stars because the burger and the drinks were good. It would've been a five star, but Wood really made up the stars was the service by sky. read more

The establishment is a great place to try. Gonna start with one small improvement first , the reason so you can end this article on all the great points. Time to service was about 20 minutes and it was busy but felt that was a little long. Now all the great points, once served our server and what believe to be manager who checked on us were excellent , friendly and helpful. The food was perfect , from a hamburger , pizza to breakfast meal the party of 4 we had were all very satisfied. The portions excellent and the price wasn't bad for the LB. We went on a busy Friday evening. Upon arriving, we were confused how seating worked. A server said its first come first serve. The patio was completely full, but we sat a high top table near the bar. We were greeted by a nice server who gave us menus and took our drink order. All of the servers work together I believe because a different server got our food order. Here's where it goes downhill, my husband ordered the fish tacos and side of fries, and I ordered a pizza. My pizza comes out and his fries, but no tacos. I wait 10+ mins and he tells me to eat because his tacos still aren't out. Finally one taco comes out (supposed to be three) I ask a server if it's just supposed to be one taco? She apologized, said she made a mistake and rang it in happy hour. The new tacos took so freaking long my husband lost his appetite. What frustrated me most is that there was no urgency or follow up. Instead it was a bunch of girl servers talking to each other. Having been in the service industry I felt not taken care of. She look the tacos off the bill which was expected imo. As a first time experience, it was not a good one. read more

We love Riley's, it is always fantastic! The pizza is yummy! The tacos are good and so are the drinks! Can't forget about the wings, they have a Thai special sauce. They have a very good happy hour menu with specials on drinks and food/appetizers. Service is fast and the waiters are nice. It can get pretty loud in here if there are any games on or large groups present. I recommend the draft beers, the strawberry blonde is my favorite, or mixed drink get the Juan Daly! read more

We randomly stopped in for a quick bite to eat and cocktail last Friday night. We got the meatballs and artichoke. The meatballs were excellent! The artichoke was just eh. The service wasn't great.... We didn't have the same server. It seems like it's the type of place that pools tips and everyone serves every table and runs everybody's food. *shrugs* We also never got checked on once our food came. Nobody asked us how the food was nor if we needed anything else. We would eat there again. Hopefully the service is better next time though... read more

Riley's is a Belmont Shore classic for good reason, it's easy to see why it's become a neighborhood staple. I stopped by for a late afternoon game and left genuinely impressed. The space feels fresh and inviting. The patio is a great spot, especially if you're bringing your dog to hang out. I dug into their wings and they packed a serious punch. The cocktails paired nicely with the food and the vibe felt friendly and unpretentious. Staff was helpful, upbeat, and made it feel casual and easy. Extremely disappointed. Everything seemed to be going well. Chill vibe in a week day. Ordered my food, repeated the order and the waitress verified my order. The food comes and there are pieces of pork in my salad... huh? I told the waitress and at no point did she offer to bring me a fresh salad or offer to comp my meal. Bad business!! We were out for a walk along 2nd Street. Someone suggested that we drop into "Riley's on 2nd" for a snack. Riley's has been open for years. This just happened to be my first visit. We sat at the bar, so as to catch up on some game scores. We ordered: 2 Coors light schooners ($17.00), a pint of Coors light ($7.00), and a NY pizza ($17.00).With tax of $4.18, the tab was $45.18 before gratuity. The bartender / server was personable and took care of us well. The environment was bright and generally comfortable; but there are a lot of hard surfaces, so it can get loud. With reference to the "New York Pizza", it has pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, tomato sauce, mozzarella and red onion. I thought that the pizza verged on being a little salty--but not really when you consider all of the meat product on the pizza. Another in our group wishes there was just a bit more tomato sauce. (Everyone has their opinion.) But the kitchen didn't skimp on toppings, and we liked it. Riley's is a nice place. By way of observation, they do a good breakfast / brunch business. read more

Great place. The patio is spacious and has plenty of tables for outdoor dining. The inside has plenty of tables and bar seating as well. The staff are very friendly and the service is very professional. You won't wait long for the excellent food as the kitchen is very efficient. A sports themed restaurant and bar with plenty of TV's to watch your favorite sports teams. The bartenders are excellent and provide excellent drinks of your choice. Family friendly! I'm so glad I stopped by here! We were seated on the patio which was very airy but a little bit loud with everyone else outside too. My friend and I were catching up after not seeing each other in over a year. The server introduced herself to us and got us water. My friend looked over the menu and quickly ordered. I got the short rib pizza and she got the poke salad. The short rib pizza tasted DELICIOUS. I could only finish half and had to take the rest home. I wished there was more short rib on the pizza (I feel like I hardly got any meat on the pizza!) and more of the pickled onion (sour, tangy, but so so good!). The reason why I'm giving this place three stars is also because our table was checked by two separate servers every 5 minutes or so. Yes, I timed it because I couldn't tell if it was in my head or not that they were checking on us so frequently. One of the servers introduced herself to us so I understand she was assigned to our table. I don't know why the other server kept checking on us. It got pretty annoying and disruptive when they kept checking on our tables. It was even more frustrating when we asked for water and had to keep reminding them... We locals needs to know apparently where and who this establishment supports and if WE should support them This is my last visit here... sadly... I live in Broadway and Quincy... Come to Riley's for the bottomless mimosas, stay for the tasty food. The atmosphere is mostly that of a bar with self seating, plenty of TV's and staff that all works together to serve you whether you're at a table on the patio or at the actual bar. They're extremely dog friendly and we must have seen about 6 tables with dogs during our visit. The bottomless mimosas aren't on the menu but you can get them on weekends (I'm not sure about weekdays) until 1pm for $17/pp. You also have the option of ordering a bottle of champagne or a single mimosa. They have a fun selection of juice beyond the typical OJ and I'm serious when I say they put just the tiniest splash of it into the champagne which I love. Unless you want more of course. I didn't expect much from the food but it was delectable. The Short Rib Chilaquiles were simply fantastic. The chips stayed crisp and they were a flavor bomb. The only downside was that they skimped on the short rib big time. Nonetheless, I would order this again. The Short Rib Melt from the lunch menu was another winner and packed with perfectly melty monterey jack cheese on toasty Sourdough. I'm looking forward to making this my spot for mimosas when I don't want too crazy of an atmosphere and I bet it would be a great place to watch sports too. read more

I have been wanting to go to this place for a while as I visit second Street often and whenever I walk by it looks like a great time and it is fully packed. Finally came here for my dad's birthday and we were satisfied. They have three dollar tacos on Tuesday so we got the fish taco and it was a delicious huge piece of battered fish and the taco had a great bite to it. I got the short rib sandwich which was delicious and I love their fries. They made us garlic fries as well and they were pretty tasty. They don't normally serve this on the menu, but they did well enough. The flat iron steak was pretty good, some pieces were a little chewy, but the flavor was there. We had buffalo wings and Thai chili wings as our starter, and although the sizes of the wings were a little odd, it was still tasty. I also love the ranch! Restaurant ranch is usually not the greatest, but this was yummy. The tater tots were amazing. And the barbecue burger with bacon was huge. The best part about this place is the prices are so amazing and affordable. There is metered parking that can sometimes be hard to find but this night it was pretty easy. read more

It was nice until a loud group sat behind us. We started with a drink and ordered our lunches. Fried chicken sandwich (yes, creature of habit) and a burger for my friend.
