Port City Tavern in Long Beach is one of those spots that always has something going on. There's almost always an event or gathering happening out in their parking area, which gives it a really fun, lively vibe. What I really appreciate is that sometimes it's even kid-friendly, which makes it a great option if you're not just going out solo or with friends. I've been coming around since back when it was Iguana Kelly's, and it's been cool to see how the place has evolved while still keeping that local, neighborhood feel. The location is super easy to find, right next to a donut shop and a mechanic, and across the street you've got a 7-Eleven, Subway, and a few other small spots. Plus, Tommy's Burgers and an Arco are right nearby, so everything you might need is within reach. I tried both the cucumber mixed drink and the mango mixed drink, both were really good, but I personally preferred the cucumber one. It's less sweet and way more refreshing, especially if you're not into overly sugary drinks. We also had a BBQ chicken pizza that they cook in a fire oven (I think it's called a wood-fired pizza), and it was really good, definitely worth trying if you go. Service was good During the outdoor event, they had things set up really well, including a sign that read "21 and over beyond this point only," which helped keep things organized. They also had jumpers outside for the little ones to enjoy, along with tables and chairs so everyone could hang out comfortably. Parking can be a bit tight in their lot, but there's always street parking if you take a minute to read the signs. Overall, it's a great hangout spot with a welcoming atmosphere and something happening more often than not. Definitely worth checking out. read more

First time and I loved it! I called in advance to confirm if they had a holiday menu. Once I arrived the bartender showed the qr code and made some recommendations. I was hesitant after reading a bad review regarding their holiday drinks, but I just needed a holiday drink that night. I had a mezcal-guava holiday drink. It was soo good, but of course you've got to like mezcal; otherwise, it tastes weird. The other drink I tried had serrano and mint so yeah not my usual but it worked out after the first 2 sips. There are a couple of pool tables, a photo booth, a jukebox, patio section, free popcorn, had christmas decorations all over the place and were playing die hard, the grinch, and Christmas music at some point SO FESTIVE! The vibe was VERY welcoming. The crowd was mixed and chill. There seems to be a lot of locals or people that are regulars or know each other, not sure but it was enjoyable to be there. Minded my business the entire night, towards the end of the night I played pool and the told my son , hey let's sit in the back and relax. Then out of nowhere there drone elated helpers said to us you have to leave. We spent a lot of money of course through out the night and now we get randomly selected to get kicked out. No explanation just go The worst experience ever. What a shit show of a place when someone can just say hey kick them out they have to go. The worst part every one that worked there turned the other way when asked why I was targeted to leave. It was the most bizarre situations I've encountered in a while. My friend said "youre being homophobic" so my boyfriend offered his jacket then he put it on then after the security said "actually you're having attitude so im refusing service" and didnt allow him to come in the bar. Some of the pours can be stiff but who's complaining? Especially when you meet up with old neighborhood friends for a mini-reunion like we did. Pro tip: nothing bonds a group like some competitive shuffleboard or pool (available in two rooms). Parking is available, but good luck snagging a spot unless you arrive early or channel your inner Mario Kart. Inside, there's plenty of seating, but we all know the real fun is standing around chit chatting while looking into an intense game of pool or making new acquaintances with the person standing next to you. It took a long time for my partner and I to come here even though it is in our neighborhood, but now that we have we cannot get enough. The menu is very tequila based, which is perfect for us because we are tequila people! Stopped by spontaneously on a Wednesday night after getting gas across the street, and noticed they have a holiday theme for Christmas. I am so glad I went in, the inside was super cool and homey and the bar tenders very friendly. They even have holiday drinks with some souvenir cups you can take home! Wanted to play some pool with my partner on Sunday and found this place on Yelp! Came in and absolutely looooved all the holiday decorations. It really felt festive in here. We got the You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch & Feliz Guavidad. I liked both but looooved the Feliz Guavidad, it even comes with a souvenir Santa boot cup you get to keep! I am a sucker for anything holiday themed. Especially if it's patriotic!! Or Christmas. ;-) I've only ever been here twice and I enjoyed it both times. December 2021 and July 2023. My friend saw an article about their festive cocktails in adorable Christmas glasses. I just had to go!! (My birthday is also in December so we went during my birthday weekend). Then last week I saw a beautiful red, white and blue slushie advertised on Instagram and I REALLY had to have that!! *heart eyes* My husband and I went the day before the 4th. He got cans of Pabst which was on special for only $3 bucks each! I got my patriotic slushie and another yummy drink that the bartender made for me (he said it was like a pineapple daiquiri).
