Writing I usually really enjoy coming to Roxanne's. I probably visit once every couple of months, and I've always loved the atmosphere, the people, the food, and the overall vibe. I normally receive great service, which is why this particular visit was a little disappointing. Today, my daughter and I came in to enjoy happy hour and spend some time together. We ordered the house salad, fried zucchini, six wings, and two lemon drop shots. Our salad and fried zucchini came out pretty quickly, and everything was going well at first. After about 20 minutes, I asked our server about the wings because we were already getting close to finishing the rest of our food. He told us the wings normally take about 15 minutes, but we had already been waiting longer than that. Another 20 minutes or so passed before the wings finally arrived. By that point, we had completely finished our salad and fried zucchini and had moved the empty dishes to the side. Unfortunately, when we picked up the wings, they were very cold. It seemed as though they may have been sitting in the kitchen for some time before being brought to our table. We let our server know, and he offered to have them refired. We considered it, but after waiting approximately 40 minutes, we were ready to leave and didn't want to wait even longer. He also asked whether I wanted them taken off the bill, but I decided to just have them packed to go. I do feel the situation could have been handled a little better from a customer-service standpoint. After waiting that long for food that arrived cold, I would have appreciated a little more effort to make the situation right, even if it was simply offering a discount or checking on the order sooner. I understand that happy hour can get busy, and I'm very understanding when a restaurant is crowded. However, checking back on delayed orders and making sure food is delivered while it's still hot can make a huge difference in the customer experience. This experience will not stop me from coming back because I have had many good experiences at Roxanne's. I really do enjoy this restaurant. I was just disappointed with how things went today, and I hope this feedback helps improve the experience during busy happy-hour times in the future. read more

My friend found this place on a website because we wanted to watch one of the love island episodes (LOVEEE) and we asked the staff.. the first girl employee checked to see if they were showing it and they said no at first , because the World Cup game was going on. But after asking someone else about it , they said they could do it for us! They went above and beyond for our group of four because to our surprise we were the only ones who came there to watch love island LOL We watched in their outdoor patio which was spacious and nice with some shade. Eventually when they did put it on for us, it felt like a private viewing because everyone watching the World Cup had already left. Would definitely come back here to chill with friends or a nice date spot. Beware thought of parking, you might have to park on the street since the lot is very limited. read more

My boyfriend and I did the five-venue bar hop at Roxanne's and had such a great experience from start to finish. We were welcomed by our event host Meredith with a champagne toast to kick off the evening, which was such a fun touch. The experience includes one drink at each venue, and at the distillery you also get three small tasting samples that are 99 proof. We started at the distillery and it was a very cool experience. You get snack pairings along with the tasting samples, and Meredith was extremely knowledgeable about how everything is made. You can tell there is a lot of passion behind the experience. Next we went to the Exhibition Room speakeasy, which was honestly one of the coolest speakeasies I've been to. You enter through a phone booth with a password, and once inside it truly feels like stepping into the Prohibition era. The atmosphere was top notch. The bartender personally designed all of the drinks and took the time to explain each one to us. The drinks were incredible -- my cocktail there may have honestly been the best drink I've ever had, and I've had plenty over the years. After that we were taken to the tiki bar on the patio. I was amazed by the design and attention to detail. I've been to many tiki bars before, but this one really stood out. The bartender was so knowledgeable and even gave us a taste of a mezcal blend that completely changed my opinion of mezcal. It was smooth, balanced, and probably the best mezcal I've ever tasted. The custom tiki cocktails were amazing too. We finished back at the main bar where we each had another drink. On weekends they have a DJ, which made the atmosphere really fun and lively. The food is served until 10 PM and the fajitas were amazing. They also have a banquet hall, and there was a party going on while we were there, plus pool tables and plenty to do. Overall this was such a unique and memorable night out. Every venue had its own atmosphere and personality, the drinks were outstanding, and the staff made the whole experience feel special. I really wanted to like this place but it just wasn't doing it for me. The drinks were syrup-y. If I have a drink, I prefer fresh ingredients. There is an inside area (duh) as well as the outdoor area. We sat outside. There was a tiki theme. I'm not sure if it was because there was a pop up or always tiki. We didn't even finish our drinks. My date and I got to Roxannes early and decided to have 2 beers before our reservation at the speak easy. Entered the speak easy and ordered 2 drinks and water. Drinks are very syrupy and waitress brought a large Voss water bottle which was way too much just for me. We left and had a good time but the following day noticed that I was charged an extra $18.00 flat tip on top of their gratuity that is 18% already added to your bill. Not sure why they thought they would get away was this but now I'm definitely not returning and disputing this extra charge with my bank. read more

Cool dive bar with a twist. Came for a drink as we were meeting up with some friends. Place is quite big with a sections that's almost a dance floor. Plenty of outdoor seating both front and the back. Believe the back is a different establishment but could be affiliated. It's another bar, a tiki bar. This place does offer food which honestly we were quite surprised that what we had was nice. Drink wise, a full bar so whatever you're craving I'm sure they can make. They do have happy hour with both food and drink menu. We had the happy hour margaritas which was quick nice and did have a kick to it. One with salt and the other with tajin. Food, the zucchini stick which was really yummy. Perfect batter which gives it the right crunch and cooked perfectly and the dipping sauce. Also the chicken quesadillas were nice. Basic but full flavors. The loaded fries with fried chicken was a hit as well. Mixed with cheese, grilled onions and shoe strings fries, it was a hit. Food was really nice. There's also a pool table in the back. Didn't see anyone playing yet as it was still kind of early but I'm sure it'll get busy later on in the evening. 100/10 experience from the customer service to the food & drinks! Jose took good care of us & our kids (ages 9 & 10), made us feel so welcome and always made sure we were taken care of! We ordered the pupusa burger 10/10, (pu)tacos with shrimp 10/10, kids got the taquitos & the chicken tenders with waffle fries 10/10!!! Kim came out to bring the rest of our food and noticed some of the taquitos was a little over fried but we didn't mind at all it was still good, and Kim still took it back and brought my kid a fresh plate of taquitos!& that's how great this place is and we will definitely be back!!! Welcoming staff, good food with quite a few vegetarian/vegan options, and a lot of live entertainment. What more could you want from a local bar? :) I ordered the soyrizo taquitos from the very friendly bartender. The plate came out promptly, about 15 minutes after I had ordered it and it tasted delicious. 4 soy chorizo taquitos with some pickled vegetables on top. I scarfed it down pretty quickly because it was so yummy. To be honest I wasn't even aware that Roxanne's had such a diverse menu, I assumed they had just the standard pub feed. But I was pleasantly surprised by how many options there were, especially for someone who is plant based like myself. I will definitely be back and try their mushroom fajitas. They also host several weekly open mics, and I think that's cool that they support their local artists. Tonight (Monday) they had comedy and most of the comedians were pretty funny. It was pretty empty due to it being a Sunday afternoon when we went but service was very nice. Food came out pretty quickly too! What we ordered: -Nachos: I only had one bite but they were okay, kinda burnt. The steak on it was good though. Nothing special. 3/5 -Revuelta Pupusas: These were really good! The cortida added a great tang and crunch and the salsa was delicious. There was a good ratio of cheese, meat, and masa as well! I also enjoyed the bit of crispiness! 4/5 Overall, this is a pretty cool place to grab food and drinks! They've got a versatile menu and cool vibes. Phenomenal bar and staff! Took my girlfriend here for her first time and shoutout to Arthur, Andrew and Richard for taking care of us and made sure we had a good time. Andrew runs the tiki bar in the back, hands down the best shots I've tasted in a while. Richard was so nice and was able to squeeze us in so we can look inside the speakeasy. This place is really a three in one, every part of the bar is different and gives off a unique vibe from the other. Went here on a Friday night. It was not very busy, but there is only one bartender at the front bar and the tiki bar outside. The rest of the staff seem to just be running around looking busy. If you come to Roxanne's, you will not be acknowledged at the bar. You will be waiting for a very long time until a bartender decides to look your way. The music inside is super loud. The bathroom is tiny, and there's no paper towels. I went here years ago and had a great time. I decided to bring a friend, but this time it was so unwelcoming and shitty. I usually come here to see my favorite DJs spin. I enjoy coming here I very much so want to do a speakeasy night here. Every visit I'm always greeted by the guy who is always dressed dapper at the door (I'm a fashionista). The bartenders always makes good drinks. I've become a fan of the lady with the tattoos she's just so nice and so pretty and she makes my drinks very good. They do have an outside area. Great drinks, an interesting menu, a speakeasy, and a distillery. Very interesting menu with pupusas being offered and other none usual bar menu items. Immediately after we stepped in, the bartender was urging us outside and telling us there was a bartender outside. Even though she wasn't doing anything and could've helped us... The food was good, the ceiling was nice because it was a historic building. However, there was only one food menu that we had to share with another couple and then we ordered from the HH menu for drinks. It was not super busy. When it was time to pay, the bar tender just ran the card. Upon looking at the bill, we saw we were charged full price. We inquired and the bar tender told us they didn't have HH today. But we asked about it earlier and she just said whe was out of a lot of drinks. Now she says they had an event so no HH and she didn't know how to do all the computer things to fix the issue. Came to Roxanne's for Long Beach Burger Week, and it was my first time venturing in the California Heights neighborhood. Street parking was easy as it was 2PM on a Wednesday. The interior is very retro with old jukeboxes and bicycles, plus an ornate wooden ceiling. There is also a pool table and a cool outside patio area, so I can see how this place can get lively at night. There was just one server manning both the bar and the tables, but it wasn't too busy so she managed fine. She was friendly, though did forget to bring the waters and utensils. We tried the pupusa burger and the fire grilled poblano burger. The pupusa burger was interesting but tasty, and I liked the crispy fried yuca. The grilled poblano burger had a nice kick to it and a crispy toasted bun. It was served with a large side salad. We also ordered plantain lollipops for dessert, which were warm and yummy, though the Salvadorean cream was a bit salty and I don't like the combo of salty and sweet as much. What a great find! Roxannes in Long Beach is an AMAZING place to have an event or party! Meredith, the event coordinator is wonderful. She thinks about everything and makes sure your party goes off without any problems. My hubby and I recently had a retirement party at "Maries" the outdoor TIKI area of Roxannes. The atmosphere great, the food yummy and the space accommodated our 100 guest without feeling cramped. I would highly recommend it for a quick drink, small get together or big party! read more
