Good Bar is a solid LB watering hole with DJs, live bands, a dance floor, a busy pool table and an outdoor patio. The owner, Blake, was a bartender of the legendary Red Room, which is now Baby Gee. His love of skateboarding is reflected on the walls with mounted skate decks and skate videos playing on the screens. I usually come here on first Saturdays when the DJs play soulful house music. I don't recall trying any food here, but their drinks are stiff with plenty of beer on tap. No fancy, craft cocktails, but good ol' classic cocktails we used to get for cheap at the Red Room. If you are hungry, the kitchen is open till 10pm serving up burgers, fries, hot dogs, salads, Mexican food and vegan items. The bartenders are cool af. Be sure to tip them! read more

This is an interesting dive bar. The friendly staff made you feel welcome and it felt like a random dive bar. The menu had a nice array of food. The wings dont come with fries (sad face). The tenders come with fries so I ordered it and got the lemon pepper rub and buffalo flavored. The lemon pepper was good but the buffalo was Not good at all. I came here by myself on a Thursday. The vibes were great. As soon as I sat myself down at the bar, the bartender was able to take my order quick and efficiently. I honestly wasn't expecting much to come from the chicken strips and fries, but they were surprisingly really good! The drinks are a bit on the sweeter side, so if you're like me and like a strong drink I recommend just going with the house margarita. I came and found out they were having a karaoke night. STEPH JUDGEMENT: A chill, no-frills community-minded neighborhood bar. Been here several times over the years to hang with friends who were having some kind of community event, and on our last visit it was to support some friends' art/music event. We'd never had the food here before and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of their garlic parm fries, which were crisp and super garlicky with fresh garlic! I was intrigued to see Spaghett on their drink menu and had one of those and the hubby had a boilermaker. The bartender was friendly and efficient, and the vibe here is always casual and relaxed. My friends and I have been here twice. The first time was great, we came for drinks and a quick bite and loved their photobooth! However, the second time, my friend and I went to get a quick michelada after work. I ordered at the bar and gave the guy my card, he asked if I would like to keep it open or close it out. I told him to close it out and he JUST handed me back my card, no receipt. The total was around 28 dollars. Later on that night, around 12/1am, I got an additional charge from the bar for $6.50, I found weird and planned to call them to ask but ended up forgetting about it. On my walk home about 2-3 weeks later, I walked past the bar, remembered the charge and popped in to ask what it could have been. I explained what happened to the older woman working there and she was asking what day I came, who helped me, etc. As I was going through my bank statement to find the charge, I saw that in became one transaction, totaling to about 36 dollars. She explained that if the charge was later in the night, it must have been when they were closing. I agreed and left, but then on my way home I realized that it must have been from the guy who took our drink order, he tipped himself out on my card. Now I am not tripping over a $6.50 charge, but if the bartenders at this establishment are tipping themselves on my card without my signature, that's what I don't find okay. I ended up calling the bar when I got home and the older woman picked up and I explained it was me again and I told her that I think he tipped himself out on my card and she immediately got defensive. She asked me if I closed out the tab or left it open, I told her I closed it out, and she immediately went to tell me that I did not closed it out and tried to explain to me how closing out/leaving a tab open works... I explained to her on the phone that I understand this isn't her doing and its essentially beating a dead horse but I am telling her that one of the employees there tipped themselves on my card without my okay and she denied denied and flipped it back onto me. She accused me of not closing out my tab, telling me I can come down and talk to the guy (weird bc why would the customer come back to talk to their person, shouldn't that be on management?) My friend jumped in on the conversation too but this lady was not having it nor could she admit that she was mistaken! Just constantly going back and forth with me, and honestly I never needed the $6.50 back! Keep the 20% tip, but what would have easily resolved the issue is if she listened, did not get so defensive, and agreed to speak with the individual. By all means, back your employees but I know how to close out a tab, we went for one drink that evening and her attitude was not CUTE! Whoever has to deal with her... good luck bc now I don't even feel comfortable walking past that place. Sucks bc it is a convenient location, but we will not be returning... read more

First time coming here with friends. Honestly the food and drinks were alright but the bartender had an ugly attitude. From what I've read I'm not the first person to have a bad experience with her but the business doesn't seem to care about her bad customer service. It's a shame because the place is cozy but it'll probably be my first and last time coming here. read more

This place is cool for skaters, or for those that used to be. A friend and i went to have a drink there on a rainy day when it was almost empty. They have a bunch of artistic skate decks and skating videos playing on screens. They have a small bar and a place to grab food in a particular place. Their pool table is very worn in from the look of the balls. They must have good bands that come in and play rock/punk and the like. I would reccomend this to anyone who still boards around Long Beach to check it out. read more

I am not a frequent patron of The Good Bar, but I have been there enough for me to prompt this review and hopefully bring awareness to others. I visited the establishment this past Saturday evening for the No Guest List event as a single woman. For the most part, it was enjoyable, but there were a few salacious characters there, especially one that should be brought to atention. I was followed by a guy for the entire duration of my visit, which was an hour. I tried to abate the situation by talking to him after I noticed him on the prowl. I chatted with him in the outside smoking area and shared my joint with him in an attempt to further deescalate a potential situation as I noticed hostility. Unfortunately, this was not enough as he took it upon himself to spot me alone in the hallway after I had walked away, back turned to him as I am snapping a pic, and reach and grab my breasts. I was startled and grabbed his hand and asked wtf he was doing. He then grabbed my vagina and skedaddled off like the skeevy creature that he is. Again, this is nothing against The Good Bar, but maybe a suggestion to place security around the venue a bit more, especially in the not so well lit areas. read more

Very cool dive bar that was open on a Monday! We stopped in, sat at the bar and enjoyed some drinks and music. We ordered a couple drinks and the quesadilla and everything was good. Food and drinks were well priced and good, service was good and overall ambiance was cool. The walls are covered in skateboards from the owner. My husband and I have been here a few times before and on this day, I wanted to go in and play two rounds of pool. As we walked in, the pool table had equipments on it and my husband thought we weren't able to play but I asked the bartender and he said it'll be awhile before they can clear it up. Fortunately, the technician said he will clear it up in a bit and in the mean time, grab a drink. We did just that and ordered some bar food. Bacon wrapped hot dog and chicken tenders. The hot dog came with a side of chips which I didn't care for. But the dog was delicious. I love the added julienned green capsicum. That was different and tasty. The chicken fingers had a nice batter to it but a bit over cooked. It came on a bed of tots and those were addicting. The Buffalo and bbq sauce were good. The walls were cover with interesting skateboard messages. A bit provocative but it is a bar nonetheless. A few rounds of pool games was fun to start our day. The is honestly one of my favorite bars in all of Long Beach. The vibe is always awesome, the dj's they bring in are always playing great music. I love the huge collection of decorated skateboards on all the walls. Every time we're in there it's always a mix of people inside, in true Long Beach fashion. There's also pool tables and pinball machines. Good offering of drinks and nice bartenders, most times we've gone it's been very busy, so tends to be a line at the bar. The owner is also extremely nice, whenever we've gone on a quieter night he's out and about, chatting people up, giving out shots, really nice guy. I'm also pretty impressed by the food, not your typical bar food, actually tasty food, burritos, nachos, tacos, chili fries and tots, etc (yes it's greasy, but it's still bar food) and open late so will satisfy the late night drunchies. Stopped in here with my son-in-law after a quick round at Little Rec on my B/D. A late morning drop in for a quick beverage and some breakfast. To be honest, I wasn't expecting an awful lot in the caloric sustenance department so, man oh man was I surprised with their breakfast tacos!!! The good bar and eatery is a great local bar with small frontage on busy 7th street which turns into route 22 There is a horseshoe shaped bar, a patio, pool table, and several large tv's to watch the game. The bartenders are extremely helpful with a welcoming smile. They clearly enjoy working here. The selection of beer is large, both on draft and bottles and cans. It's kinda sorta a slightly hipster bar with locals like me and cal state long beach students thrown into the mix. The food is quite good for bar food with reasonable prices. The last time I attended this bar was pre COVID, let me say, they have certainly stepped it up. There is a whole page of vegan food, plus extras in other areas of the menu. I was reviewing the drink menu and really wanted a michelada, however, they are not vegan. I believe the bar tender was Blake at the time (owner maybe?), I asked him if he could do a michelada vegan for me. Without hesitation, he said yes. Yay! I was so stoked to feel comfortable asking and to be easily accommodated. We then ordered off the menu, I got the vegan nachos with ground "beef". Man was this delicious!! My girlfriend ordered one of the hot dogs vegan with the bacon on the side for her, she also got the jalapeno poppers (not vegan) and she loved them. We hadn't eaten all day and we were happy! What a great surprise, we found this place off Happy Cow, and it was satisfying. Heads up, it is sort of a dive bar, not a restaurant (dark with TV and music). They do have AC! Went there for Taco Tuesday and first off the bar itself is pretty cool! They have sick decks all over the walls and skate videos playing on a projector. For food I tried the blackened fish, shrimp, and mushroom tacos. All were seasoned perfectly in my opinion the only thing I would say is that they need to look into a thicker tortilla or maybe keep it on the comal a little longer cause it got a little soggy. And I'm a pretty fast eater, but I can imagine it falling apart on someone who takes their time. Drinks a modelo and tried the $10 margarita pitchers which were good and strong! I watched this local dive bar evolve from the decrepit Dick n Fayes into what it is today and am so thrilled with how the current owners operate! Never did I imagine a decade ago that I would one day be enjoying big vegan meals here. It's been great seeing the menu evolve and I enjoyed everything I've tried, from tachos, to chili, to burritos and tacos -- it's all been yummy. I love that they're making their own vegan cheese and crema sauces, and that they're offering bbq jackfruit now in addition to vegan chicken and beef style products, as I prefer more whole food plant based vegan eating. It was more like a house party. You could smell the restrooms throughout the bar :/ The 2 bartenders and cook had to dance to each song that came on. The cook would step out from the kitchen and go behind the bar to get his 5 seconds of dance time in. They'd skip music they didn't like. The bartender with glasses was hugging and kissing on girls while standing at the register. Not to mention enjoying cocktails. The place was a mess and there was too much staff. The first thing I thought was... who runs this place, because I'd be pissed at wasting payroll on such employees.
