I met this hawt bartender on St Patty's Day at a different bar, and she told me she worked here: Please drop by. You know I wasn't going to turn that invitation down! Roxanne's is on Wardlow, off the Orange exit on the 405 in LBC. This is a real bar where you have to go up to order. I was surprised to find out they make their own whiskey, they have live music on certain nights, and there is a billiards table. I started off w/ a Fuji, a Japanese whisky. I was impressed by their selection of liquor. I saw a bottle of DJ 1942, and a bottle of Don Papa rum (a rum from the Philippines). To eat, I had their cheeseburger. Roxanne's also offers items like pupusas and a pupusa burger. My cheeseburger was really good, and the fries were GBD. The meat was nicely seasoned, juicy and filling. The arugula gave it a nice crunch and peppery taste. I was also surprised that a lot of families come here on a weekday. This is a neighborhood bar. Based on the interaction b/t the bartenders and the clientele, I could tell there was a lot of familiarity. Although I'm glad I dropped by, unfortunately Roxanne's is too far out of the way for me to be a regular. I WFH and just don't get out as much as I used to. Nonetheless, if you are in the area, Roxanne's is a great place to have a drink, grab a bite and enjoy live music on certain nights. read more

Been here a few times now and everytime it's great. Service was awesome Bartenders are great food is pretty good better than just bar foods it has other things on the menu that you wouldn't expect and it's has a greet happy hour menu. Food taste sooo good. Music is good and pool tables are great too. Decoration are very neat and cool and the best part of the experience is the lil speak easy in the back phone boot . read more

I visited Roxanne's for the first time during a music and art event, where several vendors set up in the front and back area and live performances happened in the outdoor stage. This place is a neighborhood gem. It's not pretentious or touristy. It is low key, down-to-earth and casual. You enter in the street side and the interior is the main bar and restaurant area. It looks like your typical divey pub but when you exit out in the back, there is a tropical goth tiki bar and another speak easy bar. This is enough to tell me to keep an eye on their programming because they must have fun themed nights. Food is pretty as well as good. Not pictured is chicken taquitos and shrimp tostadas, which were plated nicely. I had the Buffalo wings, side of fries and fried yucca with chicharones. Definitely a spot to order all the apps to share and to sit around and day drink with friends. I love a low key spot with friendly servers, chill atmosphere and good food and strong drinks. I will definitely be back. read more

Roxanne's is a great local spot. Great drinks! You've got to try the Peaches n Whiskey and the Mexican Candy Shots. The nachos are fully loaded too. I love the angus sliders also. The mixologist and servers there are super nice and they have an outdoor patio area with wooden benches. They have a pool table with a fireplace. Love coming here. It's very retro divey. My friends and I prefer hanging out in the patio and having some cocktails/appetizers. I'm not a fan of the inside because it gets hot and loud if there's Open Mic Night. The appetizers are pretty good with the exception of The skewers which are really really salty. Better off ordering the sliders, empanadas, or spinach dip. I haven't tried any entrees yet. As for cocktails, I like the LB Haze. If you get a chance, come to one of their special events. I like attending the Tiki Rum Social which happens in August. There's also a Tequila event several months after that. read more

Ok, so I will tell you what I told my friend when she suggested Roxanne's: the food is delicious! The vibe is mixed eclectic. I stand by the fact that this isn't a bar with an identity crisis and I love it more as a result (they have a vintage typewriter collection?!? Which I just saw today). What's not to love? The service on an off day/night. That being said, we had the best service, delicious drinks, and suuuuuuuuch good food. My friend had shrimp tacos and I had the dip trio and zucchini sticks. The guac is the star of the trio dip, followed by the black bean, and then salsa. The black bean and the salsa were good, but they were a bit too liquidy to get a good scoop. The chips? ::swoon:: The zucchini sticks are more like logs, but yummy! The dipping sauce is a bit spicy, I would definitely dine here again. read more

I came in to watch the Love Island reunion and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. I work in the industry, so I understand how service can vary, but this fell short of even basic hospitality. There's no table-side service, which I was fine with, but when my food was brought to the bartender, I asked a staff member for sharing plates, utensils, and napkins. She told me to go to the end of the bar and get it myself. The bartender caught on to the lack of hospitality and offered to get them for me, which I appreciated. Throughout my visit no one ever checked in, and when it came time to pay, the bartender handed me the payment screen without showing me an itemized bill. When I asked for it, he told me twice he couldn't provide one and only after pressing further did I finally get it. I was surprised to find an automatic 18% gratuity added to my bar tab--there were no signs posted about this, and it's typically reserved for larger parties, not individual guests. Considering the service I received, this felt especially inappropriate. Overall, I will not be returning and can't recommend this place. read more

Came to celebrate grad. And Ordered a black and tan and received a pint of pure Guinness , ordered the Scully drink and did not taste good and was served burnt wings. Bars are dark so if you're ordering food, use a light to check what you received. Ambience is cool but drinks and food are a no, might try a different night and order the same stuff to see if that will make a difference. There's One pool table $1 .50 , with plenty of outdoor patio space. read more

I kept passing by this place a lot. I think it's the sign that always catches my attention AMBIANCE: Parking: Street and neighborhood parking. It can get pretty packed so make sure you make time for parking. Seating: Outside and inside seating. Bar seating, group seating, room for maybe 100 people total. Feels: It's in the California Heights area that's maybe a few blocks from Downtown Bixby Knolls. The spot itself is pretty popping. At times it can be pretty calm but pretty eventful during events: karaoke, live music, fight nights, or just a night out. It's a pretty eclectic place with a Western feel but also decorated with 50s throwback cars. FOOD: Pupusa Burger (A-OK) - $19~ Their famous pupusa burger! Two pupusas served as buns, pickled Salvadorian coleslaw, a slice of cheese, and charred angus beef. The salsa gave it a good kick and the fries were moderately seasoned with a good crunch. It was a pretty good mix but I might be inclined to try something else from their menu for a cheaper price. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Chill. Good people, responsive and quick with the service. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Chill environment, good selections, good food. I can see why people like this spot, the design, the location, and the vibes. I can see myself coming back here if I'm looking for a social type of night. TIPS: * Check out their daily specials and events! read more

Roxanne's has been a long time LBC bar staple in Cal Heights. They are known for their fruity cocktails and more recently, their Pupusa Burger and Fried Chicken Pupusa Sandwich! Roxanne's has also expanded their property over the years. Their speakeasy, The Exhibition Room, is accessed through a phone booth door entrance and guests are only admitted with reservations. They have various types of pop-up events in their large patio area that can host multiple vendors at a time. There's also a dance floor area in which djs play all kinds of danceable genres and hits. In case this wasn't enough, there is now, another tiki bar in the back patio, Marie's Tek Tec! I'm not a big fan of the sweet, fruity cocktails, but the bartenders can make just about anything with their fully stocked bar. Ask for Kai and she'll take really good care of you! She's my favorite bartender there! I got to try whiskey from Roxanne's distillery and it was strong, yet smooth and oaky! I usually come late nights, so I didn't realize they served food, but I heard they have delicious and popular items! The latest craze, being the pupusa sandwiches I mentioned above, will be what I try next! The pupusas were hearty, cheesy and crispy. I also liked the fried zucchini, empanadas and spinach artichoke dip! Hope I can get into the speakeasy, Exhibition Room, soon! read more

Roxanne's is a neat neighborhood bar and grill in Bixby Knolls adjacent neighborhood of California Heights in Long Beach. Nice atmosphere and the food we had was good. We had junk yard fries and margaritas. The margaritas were great and priced very well at $8 during happy hour. The junkyard fries were ok but not as good as I was hoping but were ok. Service was excellent and very friendly. We'll be back sometime when they have live entertainment and when we can bring our dogs on their patio when it's not raining. read more

This is hands down my favorite bar in Long Beach! Their happy hour is one of the latest in town ends at 7pm, and the menu is unbeatable. Seriously, I challenge you to find a better happy hour menu. We tried the zucchini sticks, chicken skewers, and the chicharrón yuca fries--every single one was a 10/10. The service was excellent, the patio was clean and well-designed, and the bartenders and patrons created a great vibe. I can't wait to go back! read more

It's nice to see a place that is filled with dancers of all skill levels just having fun and learning to dance. The venue itself is beautiful. They have a large open air dance floor that overlooks the marina as well as a smaller dance area inside near the pool tables. The decore is classy and elegant overall. On salsa nights they have drink specials in addition to the regular drink menu. Lastly I once lost my key fob there and someone returned it to their lost and found. I'm forever grateful to whomever returned it and the staff at the front door / lost and found. Overall it's an awesome place to come out and hang out and dance.

We ordered quite a bit: spicy Pad Thai, Bang Bang Shrimp, Pad See Ew, mango sticky rice, and of course the Thai tea with the popsicle. I'll give credit where it's due. The Bang Bang Shrimp was easily the best thing we ordered and was absolutely delicious. The Thai tea popsicle also lived up to the TikTok hype, although the actual Thai tea itself was on the sweeter side. If you love sugar, you'll probably enjoy it. My biggest complaint with the food was the spicy Pad Thai. The flavor was great, but it came with what felt like a whole chicken farm and a cameo appearance from the noodles. I ordered Pad Thai, not chicken with noodle garnish. The Pad See Ew was also noticeably salty. Now you're probably wondering why I'm giving this place a low rating if most of the food was decent. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the meal. When it was time to pay, my aunt was figuring out how much everyone needed to Zelle her since the restaurant only allows a maximum of two cards for split payments. While we were trying to do the math, our waiter stood over us watching the payment screen like he was supervising a final exam. He was clearly waiting to make sure a tip was entered. My aunt politely asked him to give us a minute, and thankfully he walked away. Maybe when you see a family actively calculating a bill, that's your cue to...actually give them a minute. Keep in mind we also tipped 20% despite all this. Throughout the meal, he did stop by our table, but it rarely felt like he was checking in to make sure everything was okay. If anything I felt rushed. He also gave off that "customer service smile" that disappears the moment you stop looking. The cherry on top for me happened as we were leaving. We had been sitting on the outdoor patio talking for a bit after paying, which is pretty normal for my family. Before leaving, I went inside to ask where the restroom was. The guy and girl behind the bar looked at each other, laughed, and then asked if I was a paying customer. Keep in mind, I was literally holding a to-go bag with leftovers from the restaurant. I responded, "Yeah, I just finished eating," while holding up the bag that made it painfully obvious. Only then did they tell me where the restroom was. Nothing says "valued customer" quite like being interrogated about whether you actually ate there while carrying your leftovers. It's unfortunate because the food had some highlights, and the restaurant itself has a cute atmosphere. But the service made it feel like customers are viewed more as transactions than guests. Between hovering over us during payment and questioning whether I even belonged there after spending money, I left feeling more unwelcomed than satisfied. I'll happily support a restaurant that appreciates my business instead of making me feel like I have to prove I earned the right to use the restroom after paying for dinner.
