Love coming here. It's very retro divey. My friends and I prefer hanging out in the patio and having some cocktails/appetizers. I'm not a fan of the inside because it gets hot and loud if there's Open Mic Night. The appetizers are pretty good with the exception of The skewers which are really really salty. Better off ordering the sliders, empanadas, or spinach dip. I haven't tried any entrees yet. As for cocktails, I like the LB Haze. If you get a chance, come to one of their special events. I like attending the Tiki Rum Social which happens in August. There's also a Tequila event several months after that. read more

Ok, so I will tell you what I told my friend when she suggested Roxanne's: the food is delicious! The vibe is mixed eclectic. I stand by the fact that this isn't a bar with an identity crisis and I love it more as a result (they have a vintage typewriter collection?!? Which I just saw today). What's not to love? The service on an off day/night. That being said, we had the best service, delicious drinks, and suuuuuuuuch good food. My friend had shrimp tacos and I had the dip trio and zucchini sticks. The guac is the star of the trio dip, followed by the black bean, and then salsa. The black bean and the salsa were good, but they were a bit too liquidy to get a good scoop. The chips? ::swoon:: The zucchini sticks are more like logs, but yummy! The dipping sauce is a bit spicy, I would definitely dine here again. read more

The food was good, the ceiling was nice because it was a historic building. However, there was only one food menu that we had to share with another couple and then we ordered from the HH menu for drinks. It was not super busy. When it was time to pay, the bar tender just ran the card. Upon looking at the bill, we saw we were charged full price. We inquired and the bar tender told us they didn't have HH today. But we asked about it earlier and she just said whe was out of a lot of drinks. Now she says they had an event so no HH and she didn't know how to do all the computer things to fix the issue. I felt like we got a run around AND the men's bathroom was out of order. read more

Came to celebrate grad. And Ordered a black and tan and received a pint of pure Guinness , ordered the Scully drink and did not taste good and was served burnt wings. Bars are dark so if you're ordering food, use a light to check what you received. Ambience is cool but drinks and food are a no, might try a different night and order the same stuff to see if that will make a difference. I kept passing by this place a lot. I think it's the sign that always catches my attention AMBIANCE: Parking: Street and neighborhood parking. It can get pretty packed so make sure you make time for parking. Seating: Outside and inside seating. Bar seating, group seating, room for maybe 100 people total. Feels: It's in the California Heights area that's maybe a few blocks from Downtown Bixby Knolls. The spot itself is pretty popping. At times it can be pretty calm but pretty eventful during events: karaoke, live music, fight nights, or just a night out. It's a pretty eclectic place with a Western feel but also decorated with 50s throwback cars. FOOD: Pupusa Burger (A-OK) - $19~ Their famous pupusa burger! Two pupusas served as buns, pickled Salvadorian coleslaw, a slice of cheese, and charred angus beef. The salsa gave it a good kick and the fries were moderately seasoned with a good crunch. It was a pretty good mix but I might be inclined to try something else from their menu for a cheaper price. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Chill. Good people, responsive and quick with the service. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Chill environment, good selections, good food. I can see why people like this spot, the design, the location, and the vibes. Roxanne's has been a long time LBC bar staple in Cal Heights. They are known for their fruity cocktails and more recently, their Pupusa Burger and Fried Chicken Pupusa Sandwich! Roxanne's has also expanded their property over the years. Their speakeasy, The Exhibition Room, is accessed through a phone booth door entrance and guests are only admitted with reservations. They have various types of pop-up events in their large patio area that can host multiple vendors at a time. There's also a dance floor area in which djs play all kinds of danceable genres and hits. In case this wasn't enough, there is now, another tiki bar in the back patio, Marie's Tek Tec! I'm not a big fan of the sweet, fruity cocktails, but the bartenders can make just about anything with their fully stocked bar. Ask for Kai and she'll take really good care of you! She's my favorite bartender there! I got to try whiskey from Roxanne's distillery and it was strong, yet smooth and oaky! I usually come late nights, so I didn't realize they served food, but I heard they have delicious and popular items! The latest craze, being the pupusa sandwiches I mentioned above, will be what I try next! The pupusas were hearty, cheesy and crispy. Roxanne's is a neat neighborhood bar and grill in Bixby Knolls adjacent neighborhood of California Heights in Long Beach. Nice atmosphere and the food we had was good. We had junk yard fries and margaritas. The margaritas were great and priced very well at $8 during happy hour. The junkyard fries were ok but not as good as I was hoping but were ok. Service was excellent and very friendly. We'll be back sometime when they have live entertainment and when we can bring our dogs on their patio when it's not raining. read more

This is hands down my favorite bar in Long Beach! Their happy hour is one of the latest in town ends at 7pm, and the menu is unbeatable. Seriously, I challenge you to find a better happy hour menu. We tried the zucchini sticks, chicken skewers, and the chicharrón yuca fries--every single one was a 10/10. The service was excellent, the patio was clean and well-designed, and the bartenders and patrons created a great vibe. I can't wait to go back! read more

We love Roxanne's for many reasons. The vibe is great. Food is good, drinks are excellent and they have so many community events that they either host or are associated with. They'd be a 5 Star Place if management would just understand that having one bartender to service the entire place is not enough. The staff is great and does their very best, but they are spread too thin to hit all the marks for a 5 Star bar/restaurant. It would make a world of difference just to have one or two servers to help out the bartenders. Or even pagers! Emphazing customer service would make this place an absolute gem. read more

As soon as me and my buddy got to the bar we both established a stare with Chloe the bartender. We resumed hopefully waiting to get served but no, Chloe kept ignoring us and serving others while drinking on the job. She poured her self a shot before she served me and my bud. I have been here many many times, I'm a Longbeach native and I wanted to have my birthday party there. I have called and emailed and I have the impression that I'm being ignored. I will move on and look for another venue, that's not a problem. The problem is a lot of my friends and family are from the are and we are all familiar with the club. I have been there to support my fellow Salvadorians when they have events, such as the comidian hoozay. I spoke to Ricardo on the phone he sounded so excited for me left all my information, no one got back to me, then I emailed I did get a very generic reply, I replied back and haven't heard from Sandy at all. I plan big events so it takes moths of preparation and this is a bad business practice. Will look for a different venue because now I'm thinking I don't want my guest to be treated like this. We've come to Roxanne's a handful of times now after discovering it by chance sometime a few months ago. It's not near many other things so we weren't sure what to expect but honestly we had such a good time even though we don't live in the area we made an effort to come back a few times. The music is great, drinks are good too and surprisingly reasonably priced.. Gabriel was amazing and willing to deal with my banter lol... Security is great too.. there was this one guy they thought was lurking around and they were very good about making sure he didn't come into the bar. read more

It wasn't even close to full. They're clearly holding people outside on purpose to create fake hype, which is honestly pretty messed up. You're telling me dozens of people are stuck waiting forever while there's plenty of room inside? It's giving manufactured crowd and poor management. To make it worse, they stopped serving drinks and turned the lights on at 1:15 AM, way earlier than literally any normal bar. So after wasting hours in line, you barely even get time inside. And it somehow gets worse -- at 1:35 AM they were literally kicking people out of the restroom. We weren't even allowed to finish or wash our hands before being rushed out. That's not just rude, it's straight up unhygienic and disrespectful. Overall, completely overhyped, disorganized, and not worth the wait at all. Don't fall for the line -- it's fake.

At another separate time, I was at the Los Angeles County Fair with another. We rode the ferris wheel at such a time where our gondola stopped at the top just as the sun set. The moment was nothing but beautiful and life affirming because the sinking of the sun's light was like a real life video of nature happening in front of us, unburdened by static or data stall. We witnessed nature resting, and I feel, that it was a kin to a beauty falling into a gentle sleep. These two instances have a common factor: momentary bliss arrived to bless an experience because the environment supported discovery of unplanned joy. That is what I associate with the Wicked Wolf, and this time the joy arrived eventually because when my Mom and I arrived to their high tea on Mother's Day the experienced seem like it would land nowhere good. Truth be told, my mom and I arrived 15 minutes early and there was no host in the stand and the place was empty except for a foursome. The energy felt lacked luster. One or two minutes after, the bartender informed us that we were early and the host would come soon. We sat in an available sofa for two, a loveseat persay. This gave us an opportunity to admire the decor that transported us to a storybook forest where good fairies reside, not like swamp creatures and trolls with malevolent fangs and dragon green eyes. I especially loved the large roses in the ceiling. To set the stage, the black ceiling had vines hanging from it, and the few roses were pops of crimson red displayed above.These were wonderful accents to the central mural of the joint that invited the viewer within deeper into the fairy forest where a light shone on an unseen meadow. The place had the decorations and general environment to be a lavender fairy's lounge, but, it did not fully work as a team room. For instance, my mom and I were sat in another lover's couch. Initially, I did not want to sit here because we were given circular tray sets. So imagine being told to sit in a couch, and each of us would get a tv tray. So I was left to wonder if we were going to be served tea in Belle's living room or if were going to watch a flick as we ate pollo loco bowl? But then as I settled into the tranquility of the moment, saw more people come and find their seat or couch, and as the serviced picked-up I realized that this was high tea in a place that had taken disjointed beauty and tackied it together for a patched tea experience that worked well. It was like the experienced was blessed and allowed by the same spirit that brought forth Raggedy Ann. For instance, the pictures show these pretty violet petaled tea cups and matching plates. This pairing was dainty and perfect for a tea party happening under pink veils. But then the sugar cubes came in a hedgehog shaped holder which was just as precious as seeing a piglet in a carriage built for one. Then the cream carrier was in the shape of a milk carton. I wondered where the missing child portrait was? The pastry plate was in the shape of a tropical flower like the ones scattered all over Hawaii. It belonged in a beautiful lei. Each of these elements was cute in its own delicate and whimsical way but together they made an eclectic hodgepodge, not a coherent tea set. And in this asymmetry laid the glitter of their error. The host also brought these clip on dainty hats that were perfect touches for make believe tea party. He carried them around in their original packing, including the box they came in. Not exactly the tailor of the queen, offering hats to the villagers as a gift from her to them, but still the effort magnified the moment. The tea food was the worst stumble that Red took as she was being chased by the Wicked Wolf. To begin with the end analysis, the tea offerings in general were standard, and not bites fit for a princess and her wedding court. For instance, the cream cheese and cucumber sandwich was just that---- a cucumber and cream cheese sandwich. I detected no effort to make it more than that. The blueberry scone was solid, nothing to skip through a meadow about. But once you added the jam of the table to the scone it was much easier to enjoy. I also had a madeline that was fluffy in the center but could have been purchased maybe at Costco. I had a Macaron and same thing, delicious but I have had something similar before and I suspected that it did not come from a place afloat with Parisian affairs. The best part of the tiers was this puff like thing that had like a Concha texture and design at the top. It was a sweet filled bite that was fit for a man made of muffin.
