This was my first time at Perch. I didn't have dinner. I went to the top and had drinks. They were made to perfection. Fascinating views all over LA. It cool vibe. There are some couches and chairs to sit. First come , first serve. It can be packed there . I was able to gets seats when I went. The only bad part was the dirty bathrooms.

Some people actually ate at the couches.

Food review will be included in the pics. Just an FYI, if you have a big group(9+) prefix menu will be required. Service was good overall. Thought that the time between courses (prefix) was a bit long. But maybe they waited for everyone to finish. But overall, attentive to all our needs. Ambience was classic. Chairs were a bit combursome. Tough to move even needed. Otherwise, great environment.

The restaurant is located upstairs and requires taking two elevators to get there. There's no designated parking or valet, but we parked in the structure next door for $14. Made a reservation ahead of time for 12 PM on a Friday for a group. I was a little disappointed that we weren't able to get the rooftop/outdoor seating we requested. I ordered the steak frites and brussels sprouts. Service was fast, and the food came out delicious. The steak and fries were cooked perfectly, while the brussels sprouts were good but nothing too memorable. Service was just okay. Our waitress only checked on us once and didn't seem very friendly. Still, the food and overall experience make it a place worth trying at least once.

Perch has been on my to-go list for so long I couldn't recall why I added it. We came here for an early pre-show dinner on a warm afternoon. We sat outside in the patio and the shade wasn't fully effective in blocking out the setting sun. The service was really good. The waitress was attentive and our water was constantly being refilled. We chose a few of their most popular dishes and we all enjoyed our food. The steaks were cooked perfectly but the cuts were good but not great. The frites were not the greatest. Maybe it would've been better if it was a little more well done. we thought maybe just having it plain would be better. But we enjoyed our food and our time at Perch. We did try to go to the bar but you have to be 21 after 6pm so we took a quick look and headed to Grand Central for some ice cream for dessert!

My sister-in-law was in the city for a class on Saturday, so I wanted to treat her to lunch for her to actually see downtown. I thought, what better place with a lovely concrete jungle view (hah). We arrived around 1:30 ish and it was a little busy, but we were seated right away on the outdoor patio. She was in awe of the lovely aesthetic and the view. We ordered almost immediately. I went with the Noix de Coco cocktail and the Smoked Salmon Benedict, which came with potatoes. Everything was fantastic. My sister-in-law kept it simple with a sweet tea and The Perch Burger. She loved both the burger and the fries. I've been to the bar at Perch about four times with my husband, but this was the first time trying the restaurant for a meal. The food did not disappoint, and the vibe is just as wonderful during the day, although, nothing beats the view of the city lights at night. I will definitely be back for brunch with my husband to enjoy more of the food.

This is an interesting building I must say my experience here was good. You have to catch a few elevators to get to the top two floors. There are some stairs that you can take also to get to the top few floors, you can get some exercise for sure, cuz the elevator takes some time at times. The 15th floor is the restaurant and the 16th floor is the rooftop bar. The restaurant is French food so the cuisine is that way. The rooftop bar is chill, they have two bars and seating throughout, which is first come first serve. There are a few fire pits scattered around the area on the 16th floor. The crowd was happy and chill and we were able to get seated and chill for an hour. The drinks are decent and priced average. There is security on each floor and at the front door. Security was actually nice throughout the building. There is a sister business of Perch next door called Mrs. Fish, it's Japanese. We enjoyed our time here.

If you love stunning views and a cool, chill vibe, this is the spot! The rooftop is on the 16th floor. They have fire pits, comfy lounge chairs, and couches to relax with your date or friends. It gets pretty busy, so you might find yourself standing around. You have to take 2 elevators to get to the top and there is a strong security presence. There's multiple restaurants on different floors. We ventured to one the main one on the 15th floor, but didn't stay or try the food because we were tapped out! They also have a DJ on Saturdays starting at 10am. This is definitely a popular spot and worth it. Of course no parking in DTLA, but they do have valet parking.

Finally visited this roof top bar/restaurant however, would not recommend casually visiting during Monday afternoon. Serving staff is limited and the tables are usually reserved. The host were nice but floor staff were either having group conversations or too strict with empty tables via rooftop. I couldn't really enjoy the experience of this art deco style rooftop. Couldn't even take pictures as a server told me I wasn't allowed. There was no space to really view the landscape and enjoy my drink. They forced open service in one section among numerous empty tables. Tried to make a reservation but the times were too stretched. If you want casual drinks and not eat, wait until after 8pm. It'll be less awkward standing, at least have high tables or side bars for non dining patrons. I won't force myself to return. There's better rooftop bars. To add, you'll have to take two lifts to access the restaurant. Restrooms are behind bar upper level. Recommend book a reservation to enjoy the view at least. Happy hour is lack luster, not really worth it. The best service was from the security, host, and bar staff. Not the servers.

A lot of hype surrounding this spot and it definitely met expectations. Took my gf here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary, so I had reservations booked through OpenTable in advance. Thought the entrance was cool with the aquariums built into the wall. The hostess was attentive and checked us in in a timely manner. Was unsure if we were going to be able to get a seat on the outdoor patio, but the hostess made it happen. It was a pretty view of the city and it wasn't too noisy out there either. Ideal place for a date night. Server was amazing and explained the menu well. Additionally, the rooftop bar was a nice vibe for a post-dinner drink. Moving onto the food, I saw reviews saying the food was overrated and they mostly went for the view. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it. We went for the Dine LA menu and were happy with the portions of food they served. The set Dine LA 3 course menu was perfect for the both of us. Assorted Charcuterie, 8.5/10: Prosciutto, salamis, and cheeses were all great. Surprised by the portion, since it was more than expected. Some funky cheeses, some more tame. Good variety for sure. Wish they added more gherkins to the dish. Braised short rib, 8.8/10: Very well executed dish. Easily my favorite. You can tell the short rib was braised for a while. The accompanied mashed potatoes and stewed vegetables were great additions. Classic. It was also seasoned exceptionally. A comforting and satisfying dish that is a must try. Would definitely go back for this. Steak and frites, 8/10: Solid steak and frites. Uniquely different with the frites in the cream sauce. I appreciate the flavors with the frites, but it inevitably made the frites a bit soggy. The steak was seasoned well. I opted for a medium rare, but it came slightly closer to medium. Chocolate pot de creme, 6.5/10: We were cracking up for a good minute when the dish first came out because the shapes of the "pots de creme" were vaguely reminiscent of what my toilet bowl looks like after Taco Bell. Anyways, the flavor of the chocolate wasn't too sweet and it was nicely paired with fresh berries. The berries were a nice touch, although I wish they added more. Honestly could not get over the shape of the chocolate pots. Very amusing, so +0.5 point. Overall, pretty solid set menu course for the Dine LA special. With a stunning view x 2.

Bartender was nice. Drink Of Choice: 1) Parisian Night: Consists of sparkling lime and yozu, mint, lime, and butterfly pea flower syrup. Thought this drink was quite refreshing. We sat outside on the patio at sunset and had an incredible view! It was easy to make a resy, we did it just a day or two before. Since we got to the restaurant at 5:15, we were able to try a bunch of different appetizers for the happy hour deal. I'd definitely recommend doing that if you're on a budget, as the main entrees tended to be more pricey. Service was nice and attentive! Even though we were tucked away in the back a bit, our waiter came pretty frequently to check in on us. One thing to note is that they don't seat you until you have your full party, unless you're ok with having less time at your table with your full party (I think it's about 1.5 hours).

There is no shortage of delicious food here. The Brussels sprouts are amazingly good. Steak frites has to be ordered twice. The Bouillabaissie is a must ! Server was fantastic once we got sat down. I gotta mention that we did wait quite a bit past our reservation time on a Saturday. I think the food makes up for it. Ambiance is pretty loud inside on a Saturday. Balcony is definitely quieter and the view is amazing. Parking is not so great. I don't recommend valet seeing how they just randomly park your cars on the street next to fire lane. I also don't recommend the Metro lot coz I heard lots of thefts there. I parked at the lot around the corner operated by Athena Parking. It's 2 mins walk and it's well lit with camera.

A group of my friends and I have come here three different times, really wanting to like this place because the atmosphere is beautiful and lively. Unfortunately, each visit has been consistently disappointing due to the same bartender--a shorter male with visible tattoos and facial hair, who seems to regularly work one side of the bar. On all three occasions, we experienced being ignored while trying to order, even as other guests who arrived after us were served first. The first time, we were eventually told "you guys can wait" in a rude tone of voice while he continued taking other orders. The second time, we were never helped at all and had to move to another part of the bar, where a female bartender provided much better service. The third visit was the most concerning. When we tried to get his attention, he responded in a dismissive and rude tone, and as he walked away, we overheard him make an inappropriate comment about us under his breath calling us out of our name and we felt very disrespected so much so that we just left. We completely understand that weekends can get busy, but consistently dismissive and disrespectful service--especially across multiple visits--is not acceptable and we've also seen him be rude to other guests as well. Aside from this issue, the venue itself is great, which is why we gave it multiple chances. I really hope management can address this, as it impacts the overall appearance and experience of the establishment. Thank you.

We had two separate servers because one went home during the middle of our dinner and both were equally horrible. Not even exaggerating when I say we waited at least 15 minutes after we asked for the check and there were probably only 10 tables in the entire restaurant. And we had to call her back over to ask for a second time. SMH. The food although flavorful was so ridiculously priced it was not even funny. I got a "ribeye ". Was literally eight thin slices of steak, like 1" x 1" size for $42! No, I will not be coming back here for so many reasons. The view is great. Castaways is definitely not what it used to be in the way of quality but at least you get more and you get the view. But definitely not worth it going to this place. It was quite a frustrating evening. Also, if you do decide to go here, just bring a coat when it's a little bit cooler in the evenings cause it does get cold up here and getting the staff to manage the heaters correctly is a whole other frustration. Oh, and valet is your only option for parking up here. It's kind of crazy because a few years ago you could just go park in the lot or the garage that's available there but now they're charging you $11 and it's chaos. I will say that the view up here is great though so if you're willing to forgo all of that for a view for like a one time date or something like that, it might be worth it

So many great memories and experiences created here including some awesome date days with my other half. If stopping in for the first time you'll discover S.G. on 7th and Grand Avenue with a door person usually always at the bottom of the staircase just outside of the restaurant/cocktail bar Zaya (which has been many incarnations including Bar CDMX, V and Mas Malo). Provide them with a valid ID, as anybody over 21 should have a valid form of identification on them at all times, not just for driving or access to 21+ events or establishments, but for safety. And Seven Grand cares about everyone and their safety. They value their staff as much as their customers. And it shows in every way from thoughtful space in all directions, great pool tables, a whiskey, bourbon and scotch curated cocktail menu, even some good brew/beer. Awesome hallways with cabinet lockers, the cleanest restrooms, great dim dark warm lighting, fun fixtures and true DTLA vibes that feel old timey yet also very modern. We were able to get a seat on the coach and order drinks from the bar relatively quickly. Prices were pretty typical of LA ($18-25 a cocktail) but I would say I probably won't come back this late as it's in a shadier part of town. They have a bouncer and it was fine inside, but it's not a place where you can bar hop if that's what you're looking for as the area is seedy. Would be interested to try the food next time, but again, the safety and comfort of the light of day.

NOVEMBER 26.2025…read more I've been through many iterations of The Library Bar over the years... from small and cozy secret bar for those that work in the looming skyscrapers of Downtown LA to being some noisy urban hip hop affair that served godawful drinks (see my past review!), and on back to being a calm and casual neighborhood bar again. The interior never changes... dark... illuminated by candlelight... the bust of Shakespeare over the fireplace, the shelves of old books-- all of it remains intact. But this latest Library Bar seems to have finally dialed in what was always sorely missing in that it showcases a conscientious staff that all seem to know how to mix drinks while treating the customer well by leaving them be. On one night my date and I share a "Black Manhattan," basically a Manhattan with the generous addition of Averna, and it's terrific. On another night, I go for Happy Hour and a few pints of Guinness on draft that are surprisingly proper and go well with their excellent and, I'm told, homemade Hummus & Veggies Plate. The music at this current Library Bar is pretty much on point and is never so loud as to interfere with the conversations that patrons seem to come here for... something you should come here for too, and maybe at Happy Hour specifically if you're looking for a nice bump in your day and to spend an hour, well, happily.

I had placed a phone order, for pick up; upon arrival, I found the service was prompt. I saw my food ready to go, just past the main walk-in area. Almost immediately after that, I was taken care of by the host and on my way. I've been waiting to try this place for ages so on the drive back to work I was excited to steal a piece of meat from the bag. Initial bite flavor was good, meat was tender just a bit on the chewy side.. I wasn't bothered by it too much as I'd have to leave it in an oven warmer at work. Trying to keep food warm, in doing so, I knew there'd be only two possible outcomes, melting tender or either tough & dry. So, the dish of meat and rice sat in the warmer for almost an hour hour and a half. The downhill slope.... Set the "meat " on the veggies and began to eat. Meat after meat, I kept experiencing the same exact texture. It was the same exact rubbery chew, I initially tasted. Each and every piece was the same exact flavor. There was no peak, there was no pitfall. If you cook or grill, you know this is a red flag. Normally, consistency would be a good thing, a Master craftsman type experience, but this was NOT it. As go on, I get the sinking feeling, this can't be real meat. I lock in, the deeper I dig, each piece looks the same, broken apart the same, tastes the same, just various shapes. They can call me crazy for this one - I'll stand by it. Something is not right here. I'm not even going to throw it away. I'm going to study it for the next few days and post an updated review. I hope I'm wrong but as of right now, I'll never revisit this place. Too freaky of an experience. We

The drinks were strong (in the best way ) but still super smooth and enjoyable. Shoutout to Rich for being such an incredible host--he made our group feel welcomed, taken care of, and really elevated the whole experience. A couple things to note: there is parking available, but it is paid (you can either text to pay or use the kiosk machines). The experience itself lasts about 40-60 minutes, which felt like the perfect amount of time. The only downside for me was that the bathroom is shared for both genders. For safety reasons, I personally wish they were separate--so ladies, I'd recommend going with someone just to be safe. You just never know. They also give you a little treat afterwards, which was a really nice touch and a sweet way to end the visit! Overall, I'd definitely come back and recommend it to others

The Library Bar is small, intimate, and effortlessly cool, with dim lighting, vintage vibes, and an atmosphere that feels both upscale and unpretentious. Open Thursday through Sunday evenings, it's the kind of place you want to linger. There's no printed menu--instead, one of their highly skilled mixologists asks you a few thoughtful questions and creates a drink tailored exactly to your taste. It's a personalized, artful experience--and our cocktails were nothing short of spectacular. There's no food served, but that honestly wasn't an issue. This is the perfect spot for a date night or a quiet, elevated way to unwind after a day exploring Hollywood. Our only regret? We didn't make it back for a second visit. If you appreciate craftsmanship in a glass, cozy ambience, and great conversation, Library Bar delivers all of that and more. A true standout.

We kicked things off with the queso fundido, and wow, it was absolutely delicious! Rich, melty, and packed with flavor, it was the perfect way to start the evening. For my entrée, I ordered the cochinita pibil, which was incredibly tender and saucy in the best way. My husband ordered the short rib, and it was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. On the side, we shared the papas bravas and esquite, both of which complemented our dishes perfectly. The drinks truly elevated the night. My husband and I both love mezcal, and Kateen delivered. I ordered the Valentine's Day "Zona Romántica," which featured mezcal and wine almost like a sangria, but completely unique and beautifully balanced. My husband had the "Gypsy Fever," also mezcal-based, and it was smoky, smooth, and refreshing. Between the food, cocktails, and ambiance, it made for such a romantic and memorable evening. We'll absolutely be back!!

This time, we decided to give it another shot since it has so many good reviews, and I'm glad we did. The ambiance was much better, with nice Tulum-style vibes and music that really set the mood. From the moment we walked in, service was great. We were greeted and seated right away thanks to our reservation. Our waitress, Brenda, was friendly, attentive, and super helpful in explaining the menu and recommending drinks. She checked in often and made sure everything came out quickly. The food was good overall, though the menu is a bit limited if you don't eat meat or seafood. I was especially looking forward to the fish tacos, but it seems like they've been removed from the menu. One thing I really appreciated was the mocktail options. Perfect if you're not drinking but still want something fun. The Wes Colada is a great pick if you like piña colada type drinks, though it is on the sweeter side. The michelada was also really well done, with a nice balance of savory and sour. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot for a date night or a girls' night out.
