Melody Lounge is truly a gem of a place. I wish we lived closer because it would be our neighborhood bar. Hubby and I walked in on a Saturday afternoon right when they opened and we were blown away at how awesome the space was. Super cozy and warm. The bartender was great and fixed me up a unique Gin cocktail which I loved. We will definitely be back.

Go Dodgers !! OCT2025

I stopped by to watch the NLCS playoff game with the Brewers vs Dodgers game on their big screen television. The bar was dead only a handful of patrons were in there. They offer a great selection of beer on tap between 9 and 10 bucks. It was nice not being in a crowded bar where I could relax and sit down to watch the game. Once the game ended it got busy, so consider this a not-a-sports fan place to hang out.

Seductive low light cocktail bar perfect for an intimate night. The compact space is inviting, serves excellent drinks, and plays music for the culture. I've been here 3 times now and the energy is always warm. The staff and patrons are always easy going and sociable. Their menu has a good range of craft cocktails and simple drinks for a bargain fix. There isn't much room to dance on a busier night but hanging around under the lanterns or on their lounge couches is perfect for a night cap. I'm a proud regular and excited to put more friends on this find. It's a true Chinatown gem that I hope sticks around forever.

4+ small cocktail, bar, and lounge located on the outskirts of Chinatown. It seems like this place could get a little crowded later in the night, but I've been here a couple times earlier in the evening or later in the afternoon to meet up with friends for a drink. During that time this place could be really chill and the service is really friendly. They have a nice cocktail menu as well as some nice craft beers available. There's a pretty solid selection of spirits as well with a couple of rare bottles from time to time. Overall, this place is a great place to meet up with friends for a drink. Especially if you're going to other places in the area. It is in Chinatown so depending on the time of day parking could be a little tricky. I found some metered street parking close by.

Welcome to the Melody Lounge bar!

Say what you will about the area surrounding this bar (slightly sketch) but it's the closest late night bar to Dodger Stadium and if you're willing to take a walk down the hill (20-30 minute walk from the dodger "city gate" for an able bodied person) - is a great pit stop between the stadium and the A Metro light rail train in Chinatown. I always have a blast here and it's flooded with Dodger fans. The Service is always super quick and the ambiance is Dodger centric yet perfect for China town. Cocktail and beer bar, so no food. If I can, I stop here every time I come through. Tonight, the Dodgers clinched their Division and it was a party of Dodger fans celebrating their win over the Padres! Highly recommended! Check Melody out.

Stopped by on Valentine's Day for a quick pre dinner drink. Ambience was very romantic with the low lights and lanterns. Ton of couples out that night so seating was scarce. However they were right about to open the space up for the dance floor. The bartender was great and was attentive to all the new patrons who were waiting to order. Drinks were made promptly and tasted great. They have a complete menu of interesting cocktails. The one I had was delicious and I really liked the little aesthetic touches of the chicharron. Would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area.

This is a dive bar with a lounge feel and it's a vibe! Great music with an extensive beer & cocktail menu, what more can you want? Great place to pop in for a quick drink or to start your night! Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

A group of my friends and I have come here three different times, really wanting to like this place because the atmosphere is beautiful and lively. Unfortunately, each visit has been consistently disappointing due to the same bartender--a shorter male with visible tattoos and facial hair, who seems to regularly work one side of the bar. On all three occasions, we experienced being ignored while trying to order, even as other guests who arrived after us were served first. The first time, we were eventually told "you guys can wait" in a rude tone of voice while he continued taking other orders. The second time, we were never helped at all and had to move to another part of the bar, where a female bartender provided much better service. The third visit was the most concerning. When we tried to get his attention, he responded in a dismissive and rude tone, and as he walked away, we overheard him make an inappropriate comment about us under his breath calling us out of our name and we felt very disrespected so much so that we just left. We completely understand that weekends can get busy, but consistently dismissive and disrespectful service--especially across multiple visits--is not acceptable and we've also seen him be rude to other guests as well. Aside from this issue, the venue itself is great, which is why we gave it multiple chances. I really hope management can address this, as it impacts the overall appearance and experience of the establishment. Thank you.

Took some friends here who were visiting and wanted a Speakeasy experience…read more It was maybe 9:30/10pm on a Friday and it wasn't super busy. We were able to get a seat on the coach and order drinks from the bar relatively quickly. Prices were pretty typical of LA ($18-25 a cocktail) but I would say I probably won't come back this late as it's in a shadier part of town. They have a bouncer and it was fine inside, but it's not a place where you can bar hop if that's what you're looking for as the area is seedy. Would be interested to try the food next time, but again, the safety and comfort of the light of day.

NOVEMBER 26.2025…read more I've been through many iterations of The Library Bar over the years... from small and cozy secret bar for those that work in the looming skyscrapers of Downtown LA to being some noisy urban hip hop affair that served godawful drinks (see my past review!), and on back to being a calm and casual neighborhood bar again. The interior never changes... dark... illuminated by candlelight... the bust of Shakespeare over the fireplace, the shelves of old books-- all of it remains intact. But this latest Library Bar seems to have finally dialed in what was always sorely missing in that it showcases a conscientious staff that all seem to know how to mix drinks while treating the customer well by leaving them be. On one night my date and I share a "Black Manhattan," basically a Manhattan with the generous addition of Averna, and it's terrific. On another night, I go for Happy Hour and a few pints of Guinness on draft that are surprisingly proper and go well with their excellent and, I'm told, homemade Hummus & Veggies Plate. The music at this current Library Bar is pretty much on point and is never so loud as to interfere with the conversations that patrons seem to come here for... something you should come here for too, and maybe at Happy Hour specifically if you're looking for a nice bump in your day and to spend an hour, well, happily.

In order to get to the nut, one must appreciate and wallow in the chocolate shell and its fudge coating. My friend Lorraine and I had just spent energy walking the MOCA so securing refreshments and a place to rest was next on the agenda. With the Conrad being one maybe two blocks from the MOCA, it became the destination for a moment of rest. We walked, and we just kind of figured, easily, that the lobby had a bar. We figured it out easily because we kind of just picked up, along the way, that most, gorgeous and lux hotels have lobby bars. As you enter the lobby of the Conrad you were greeting with vivid pink Cherry Blossom shrubs. I wondered if they were faux or real? Regardless, the touch of temporary Spring was much appreciated, and made me wonder how the Conrad celebrates seasons and holidays with sophisticated and tasteful adornments. For St. Patrick's day I do not imagine the Conrad placing inflatable Shamrocks in specific places but rather emerald wreaths decorated with Swarovski rainbows. Meaning that the Conrad will not stoop to support cheer and mirth with over played tchotchkes. As I explored the lobby I continued to spot the elegant details that together made the Conrad lobby a lux environment where the thought of boorish behavior banish to the isles of dive bars and bro-outs. I saw a curtain that draped to the floor. I ran my fingers and the cloth felt good, it also made me feel like I was a heroine capturing dynamic footage for a commercial. I clipped the moment, but, I would have felt the commercial montage vibe, even if I did not clip a video of the moment. There were also these cubes with a red slit that looked like a funky dragon eye. I clipped those too. I took time to notice how the environment made itself luxurious and aesthetically pleasing. In that way I enjoy the sparkle of a diamond ring not just appreciate the ring because it is expensive. Lorraine and I finally found a place to sit outside around a bonfire. From where we sat we were able to view a geometric wonder or in other words an LA building. The building, to the side of the Conrad, looked like stacks cubes in a layered way. The intent was not uniformity, it was building floors like a step stool so that a short giant could reach a pantry item above his reach. Two sides of the building were beige, the middle blue in windows. Finally, it did not looked like a four dimensional shape, like most building does, it rather looks like a corner slice of a round building cake. I got all these images as I revisited the picture. Being there, sitting outside in an elevated patio, with a burning fire pit, while eating corn nuts that were brought to my hand via a spoon, was a relaxing exercise that demanded rest, reflection, and presence to enjoy the comfort owed to us because we sought it and we were humble enough to find splendor amongst it. Of course, the step stool building was not the only marvel that we appreciate because of a new found level. We also enjoyed the Hollywood sign beyond the distance. If I were a tourist to the city of Angels, and saw the Hollywood for the first time from my hotel, I think I would plotz. We also saw the odd curves and wings of the Disney Concert Hall. And nearby there was a single sculpture on the Conrad's grass. I would consider where we sat a nest, to enjoy the beauty of all around us, as we waited for someone to bring us food, that thankfully they would not chew and then feed to us because then a crass vibe would be invited to the stronghold reserved only for the demure. The environment of this place, as the above paragraph suggests, is the flex. My friend Lorraine and I split a cheese and meat board, charcuterrie, I know I spelled it wrong. But here in this place they called it something different--- cheese and embudinitos. This was a solid board, nothing dramatic, nothing over the top good but the perfect set of bites for the moment where we sat and saw and sipped and then also sat back. The one huge miss of the moment was my drink---the Vesper a Vodka concoction. The server explained that it was going to be balanced more than sweet. I took sips and the motif of elevated elegance became hard hitting alcohol swill. The drink had no subtle presence, no restrain in taste. It was a pure alcohol kick, like I was trying to get drunk cause that alone was a cool fact. I did not send the drink back because I could handle the sips that tasted more like shots. I am not going to lie, it was a good buzz on a glass, but in terms of it being a composed creation, it simply was not. I read the menu, and the drink was vodka, gin, and a third ingredient that sounded french but was spelled with apostrophes but not at the end. Maybe what I responded too was the gin not the vodka. In short, I would go here again whenI need to relax with sip, snacks, and enjoy immersive views of sky and skyline.

I had placed a phone order, for pick up; upon arrival, I found the service was prompt. I saw my food ready to go, just past the main walk-in area. Almost immediately after that, I was taken care of by the host and on my way. I've been waiting to try this place for ages so on the drive back to work I was excited to steal a piece of meat from the bag. Initial bite flavor was good, meat was tender just a bit on the chewy side.. I wasn't bothered by it too much as I'd have to leave it in an oven warmer at work. Trying to keep food warm, in doing so, I knew there'd be only two possible outcomes, melting tender or either tough & dry. So, the dish of meat and rice sat in the warmer for almost an hour hour and a half. The downhill slope.... Set the "meat " on the veggies and began to eat. Meat after meat, I kept experiencing the same exact texture. It was the same exact rubbery chew, I initially tasted. Each and every piece was the same exact flavor. There was no peak, there was no pitfall. If you cook or grill, you know this is a red flag. Normally, consistency would be a good thing, a Master craftsman type experience, but this was NOT it. As go on, I get the sinking feeling, this can't be real meat. I lock in, the deeper I dig, each piece looks the same, broken apart the same, tastes the same, just various shapes. They can call me crazy for this one - I'll stand by it. Something is not right here. I'm not even going to throw it away. I'm going to study it for the next few days and post an updated review. We arrived at around 6:30 PM so it wasn't too busy. We were greeted by one of the servers and she gave us options to either sit at a lounge table area or hightop tables. We opted for the hightop tables because we knew we weren't staying there for long. The server was friendly and patient as we looked over the menu for drinks. I've been sober for about a year so I only had water, my boyfriend ordered a Naoshima Dream, his cousin ordered a Mango Cart, and his cousin's girlfriend ordered a Lemon Drop Martini. The bar was super cute and hipster! I honestly would have loved going to this bar back when I used to drink. It's dimly lit, had a vintage 20's speakeasy feel to it and the music was a vibe. I'd recommend coming here for a little date with your partner or even coming with a group of friends. My boyfriend had been here once before and he said the food was really good and affordable. He had a panini and said for bar food it was a 10/10. We waited maybe like 10 minutes for our drinks to come, we were having such a fun time chatting and enjoying the environment that it didn't feel long at all. My boyfriend, his cousin, and his cousin's girlfriend really enjoyed their drinks. They said the drinks tasted "light" insinuating that there was barely any alcohol in it. Don't let the taste fool you, after finishing half of their drink there were full of smiles, giggles, and had a great buzz going. The prices here were all pretty fair for the cost and quality of the drinks. Would defintely recommend coming here for drinks and dinner for a date night or a night out with friends!
