Cool little speakeasy located inside the Arts District Brewing. You need to take an elevator to it at the back. I was hesitant to not write this review so that not people know about it. The drinks here are great, the music is good and the atmosphere is relaxed. Very different from the brewery.

BEST KEPT SECRET (I almost don't even want people to know about this place)! It's hidden in the back of Arts District Brewing Company that not many seem to know about (yet). This was exactly what I was looking for --a quiet and chill spot to chat with my friends over some good drinks. I was so happy to get away from the crowd on a Saturday night (is this what it's like in your thirties?) Anyways, I went to order some drinks before finding a seat. But as we were ordering and chatting with the bartender, Michael, we decided to stay at the bar seats instead. As if I didn't already love this speakeasy bar, Michael made it even better! He was knowledgeable in his drinks, which he created all himself. We ended up spending the rest of our night here until closing. Plus, most of the cocktails were $16 while most other spots are charging $20 these days. I can't wait to come back!

What can I say other than it was a great ending for our date. Michael was the best. Love see him make drinks . He made it look so easy and delicious. Great ambiance. We will return next time we have time. He was alone at the bar and gave the best service. Very attentive .

Hidden away in the back patio-side of Arts District Brewing Co., there is The Study. It is an intimate bar with just a handful of stools at the bar and some low tables and couches. You feel like you've stumbled upon an old antique office that happens to server excellent drinks. The menu has classics, some unique originals, and even some zero-proof options. There is also an extensive list of spirits and you can even order some Art District brews. The single bartender, Mike, is friendly and the drinks he served my friend and I were all so great and balanced. We asked him to make us some surprises mine with Tequila, and my friend asked for something "smokey" tasting. Mike definitely delivered and then followed up with additional cocktails that flowed from the first ones. Loved the story-telling we got with our drinks! This is a great bar to stop by when in Arts District!

I had no idea this spot existed until coming out with a few friends on a Friday night. I had been to the main bar, but this cozy little space was so lovely! Because there were only a few of us there, the bartender came over and spent time talking us through her preferred drinks. Everything tasted wonderful and at a decent price too! Definitely will be returning here for their cocktail and cozy atmosphere.

Located inside the Arts District Brewery is this little gem for those who prefer cocktails and liquors over craft beer. They opened quite recently and fast becoming a favorite from the looks of things. Very cozy feel inside, with the leather seats and dark paneled walls. Makes me think of a gentleman's study. Cocktails are good. Kitty the bartender is very cool and friendly. Guy bartender not so much. Still a pretty cool place to hang.

I was in town for work and I ended up here with a friend on a Friday night. We were originally supposed to go to Arts District Brewing but when told about the speakeasy there was no way we weren't going to at least check it out. So glad we did! The atmosphere was so relaxed and cozy. Our bartender Kitty was great to chat with and was so knowledgeable on all things cocktails and LA. We ended up coming back the next night because the vibes were so great.

Seated at bar, the drink on the left is a Dark Russian, drink on the right is a Summer Crush Sour.

Amazing and cozy bar, extremely knowledgeable and caring bartender, great selection of comfy seats. If you're looking for a chill, friendly vibe with a huge selection of cocktails, this place is for you.

I am a sucker for speakeasies and hole-in-the walls. When I found out there was a hidden bar somewhere in the the Arts District Brewing Co(which I've already visited), it was time for a second look. The Study isn't so much hidden as not really known about. Its located through a separate door near the back of the Arts District Brewing Co. Its also not that large as there was enough seating for 6 parties of 3-6 people with the décor resembling....a Study. If the Brewing Co specializes in beer, then The Study specializes in cocktails, wine and various hard liquors. The bar keep was very helpful and knowledgeable. She helped us understand their specialties and able to provide us recommendations based on our preferences. Prices average around 12-20 per drink depending on the order. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars was the noise level of the place. It could've been my personal bad experience, but the noise level of my visit made it very hard to hear my friend and kind of took me out of the study immersion.

A group of my friends and I have come here three different times, really wanting to like this place because the atmosphere is beautiful and lively. Unfortunately, each visit has been consistently disappointing due to the same bartender--a shorter male with visible tattoos and facial hair, who seems to regularly work one side of the bar. On all three occasions, we experienced being ignored while trying to order, even as other guests who arrived after us were served first. The first time, we were eventually told "you guys can wait" in a rude tone of voice while he continued taking other orders. The second time, we were never helped at all and had to move to another part of the bar, where a female bartender provided much better service. The third visit was the most concerning. When we tried to get his attention, he responded in a dismissive and rude tone, and as he walked away, we overheard him make an inappropriate comment about us under his breath calling us out of our name and we felt very disrespected so much so that we just left. We completely understand that weekends can get busy, but consistently dismissive and disrespectful service--especially across multiple visits--is not acceptable and we've also seen him be rude to other guests as well. Aside from this issue, the venue itself is great, which is why we gave it multiple chances. I really hope management can address this, as it impacts the overall appearance and experience of the establishment. Thank you.

We had two separate servers because one went home during the middle of our dinner and both were equally horrible. Not even exaggerating when I say we waited at least 15 minutes after we asked for the check and there were probably only 10 tables in the entire restaurant. And we had to call her back over to ask for a second time. SMH. The food although flavorful was so ridiculously priced it was not even funny. I got a "ribeye ". Was literally eight thin slices of steak, like 1" x 1" size for $42! No, I will not be coming back here for so many reasons. The view is great. Castaways is definitely not what it used to be in the way of quality but at least you get more and you get the view. But definitely not worth it going to this place. It was quite a frustrating evening. Also, if you do decide to go here, just bring a coat when it's a little bit cooler in the evenings cause it does get cold up here and getting the staff to manage the heaters correctly is a whole other frustration. Oh, and valet is your only option for parking up here. It's kind of crazy because a few years ago you could just go park in the lot or the garage that's available there but now they're charging you $11 and it's chaos. I will say that the view up here is great though so if you're willing to forgo all of that for a view for like a one time date or something like that, it might be worth it

We started with an appetizer, but unfortunately I think it may have been forgotten because we never received it. I was honestly really excited to try it, but even with that small issue, I still wasn't disappointed with the service at all. For drinks, I ordered the spicy margarita and WOW--it did not disappoint It had the perfect amount of spice and somehow made the margarita even better. Awesome hallways with cabinet lockers, the cleanest restrooms, great dim dark warm lighting, fun fixtures and true DTLA vibes that feel old timey yet also very modern. Seven Grand is open to all and all are welcome. Stellar daily happy hour 4pm to 8pm. I love a good $10 Toki Highball at 5pm, but you can't go wrong with their classic old fashion also. All the bartenders are incredible as well as personable. S Grand is open every day from 4pm until 2am. Loads of lots close by as well as the Metro station at 7th and Metro. NOVEMBER 26.2025…read more I've been through many iterations of The Library Bar over the years... from small and cozy secret bar for those that work in the looming skyscrapers of Downtown LA to being some noisy urban hip hop affair that served godawful drinks (see my past review!), and on back to being a calm and casual neighborhood bar again. The interior never changes... dark... illuminated by candlelight... the bust of Shakespeare over the fireplace, the shelves of old books-- all of it remains intact. But this latest Library Bar seems to have finally dialed in what was always sorely missing in that it showcases a conscientious staff that all seem to know how to mix drinks while treating the customer well by leaving them be. On one night my date and I share a "Black Manhattan," basically a Manhattan with the generous addition of Averna, and it's terrific. On another night, I go for Happy Hour and a few pints of Guinness on draft that are surprisingly proper and go well with their excellent and, I'm told, homemade Hummus & Veggies Plate. The music at this current Library Bar is pretty much on point and is never so loud as to interfere with the conversations that patrons seem to come here for... something you should come here for too, and maybe at Happy Hour specifically if you're looking for a nice bump in your day and to spend an hour, well, happily.

I had placed a phone order, for pick up; upon arrival, I found the service was prompt. I saw my food ready to go, just past the main walk-in area. Almost immediately after that, I was taken care of by the host and on my way. I've been waiting to try this place for ages so on the drive back to work I was excited to steal a piece of meat from the bag. Initial bite flavor was good, meat was tender just a bit on the chewy side.. I wasn't bothered by it too much as I'd have to leave it in an oven warmer at work. Trying to keep food warm, in doing so, I knew there'd be only two possible outcomes, melting tender or either tough & dry. So, the dish of meat and rice sat in the warmer for almost an hour hour and a half. The downhill slope.... Set the "meat " on the veggies and began to eat. Meat after meat, I kept experiencing the same exact texture. It was the same exact rubbery chew, I initially tasted. Each and every piece was the same exact flavor. There was no peak, there was no pitfall. If you cook or grill, you know this is a red flag. Normally, consistency would be a good thing, a Master craftsman type experience, but this was NOT it. As go on, I get the sinking feeling, this can't be real meat. I lock in, the deeper I dig, each piece looks the same, broken apart the same, tastes the same, just various shapes. They can call me crazy for this one - I'll stand by it. Something is not right here. I'm not even going to throw it away. I'm going to study it for the next few days and post an updated review.
