Let me start by saying I freakin love the food. It was slow and some things got confused but it was good. My husband brought me here for Valentines Day. So, to be fair, it wasn't a normal day. It was packed with people with high expectations. I kinda get why wires may have gotten crossed. The crab cake was delicious. I wanted more. I think the only downside about this spot was the band and the sound system and on that night the band. If you're gonna have people playing music, work on the acoustics. The sound was too damn loud and messy. I also wanted more live music from the band, but I might've gotten there after they did it. I'll return with hopes the music is better:

This was my first time coming here and I was pleasantly surprised. First you go into Zaya then head upstairs. It's a very laidback place. Enjoy a drink at the bar, play some pool, or listen to their live music. It is a full whiskey bar, but they also have other alcohol. Bartenders are attentive and knowledgeable. Very fast and great service. I loved my drinks!

I stopped in for some old fashioned cocktails with a coworker while in LA for work. After a long day of meetings, the low key vibe of Seven Grand was spot on. The bartenders were friendly, drinks smooth and strong, and we found ourselves relaxing next to a couple with a dog, making our time their even better. Pros: Friendly bartenders, chill vibe Cons: N/A

I LOVE THIS GEM!!! The ambience, the whiskey selection, the staff, the plaid carpeting! ALL OF IT.

I loved this bar! I wish I could remember the name of the bartender who was making our drinks but he did soooo well. The drinks were SO GOOD! We got paper plane cocktails and we ordered Last Word cocktails as well. So amazing. They were strong and I loved how cold they were too. The place was cute too thy have pool tables and a nice outside lounge area. Totally coming back.

Wow first time but definitely not my last!!! Apparently a long staple in DTLA for many many moons!!! Definitely old skool cigar bar/whiskey bar vibes!!! Great decor, main bar area plus two pool tables and even an outside smoking area!! Apparently even has private tasting rooms as well!! Highly recommended!!

STEPH JUDGEMENT: A downtown stalwart that's still doing it. I didn't realize I'd never reviewed this place! I used to come here fairly often in the early 2010s, but hadn't been in years. The hubby and I were doing a downtown staycation and decided to step in for happy hour. It was pretty much as I remembered: the bar is upstairs, with the Scottish hunting lodge theme intact--dark walls and mounted deer heads everywhere. The bartender, nattily attired in a vest, was friendly and efficient. The $11 happy hour old fashioneds were well-made and delicious. We lingered over our drinks but didn't get another, as we were on our way somewhere, but we were glad to have stopped in. Would definitely come back for happy hour.

I kinda miss the cozy Jackalope back bar but SevenGrand is still a unique bar that you can find all kinds of hard to find whiskies from anywhere in the world! -1 star due to high noise level and really hard to have a conversation on some nights.

We came here on Valentine's Day and it was an awesome spot. They had a happy hour menu, a Valentine's Day menu where if you bought a certain drink you got a free macaroon and got to sit in a special section, and their usual whiskey menu. There is pool tables and music playing and an outside area with a photo booth! Just be aware, the photo booth starts right away. The bartender was nice & they make a great sazerac!

Located next to Zaya, up a flight of stairs, 7 Grand is a bit hidden, if you are visiting for the first time, which we ( me and the hubby) did. There was no line to wait to go upstairs and so we walked up and felt like we were entering a secret club lol. There aren't many seats so if you find one snag it! There's a couple of pool tables, an outside smoking section, and another little bar area that served other drinks as well. We stayed in the main area by the pool tables and The hubby ordered his favorite, an old fashioned. I tasted it a bit and it was delicious! We couldn't find a seat but we shared a little table. I loved the old bottles of alcohol that have names or themes on them. I definitely want to go back and try their whiskey sour and mint julep!

Not my drink, however, this is the spot.

A group of my friends and I have come here three different times, really wanting to like this place because the atmosphere is beautiful and lively. Unfortunately, each visit has been consistently disappointing due to the same bartender--a shorter male with visible tattoos and facial hair, who seems to regularly work one side of the bar. On all three occasions, we experienced being ignored while trying to order, even as other guests who arrived after us were served first. The first time, we were eventually told "you guys can wait" in a rude tone of voice while he continued taking other orders. The second time, we were never helped at all and had to move to another part of the bar, where a female bartender provided much better service. The third visit was the most concerning. When we tried to get his attention, he responded in a dismissive and rude tone, and as he walked away, we overheard him make an inappropriate comment about us under his breath calling us out of our name and we felt very disrespected so much so that we just left. We completely understand that weekends can get busy, but consistently dismissive and disrespectful service--especially across multiple visits--is not acceptable and we've also seen him be rude to other guests as well. Aside from this issue, the venue itself is great, which is why we gave it multiple chances. I really hope management can address this, as it impacts the overall appearance and experience of the establishment. Thank you.

We had two separate servers because one went home during the middle of our dinner and both were equally horrible. Not even exaggerating when I say we waited at least 15 minutes after we asked for the check and there were probably only 10 tables in the entire restaurant. And we had to call her back over to ask for a second time. SMH. The food although flavorful was so ridiculously priced it was not even funny. I got a "ribeye ". Was literally eight thin slices of steak, like 1" x 1" size for $42! No, I will not be coming back here for so many reasons. The view is great. Castaways is definitely not what it used to be in the way of quality but at least you get more and you get the view. But definitely not worth it going to this place. It was quite a frustrating evening. Also, if you do decide to go here, just bring a coat when it's a little bit cooler in the evenings cause it does get cold up here and getting the staff to manage the heaters correctly is a whole other frustration. Oh, and valet is your only option for parking up here. It's kind of crazy because a few years ago you could just go park in the lot or the garage that's available there but now they're charging you $11 and it's chaos. I will say that the view up here is great though so if you're willing to forgo all of that for a view for like a one time date or something like that, it might be worth it

NOVEMBER 26.2025…read more I've been through many iterations of The Library Bar over the years... from small and cozy secret bar for those that work in the looming skyscrapers of Downtown LA to being some noisy urban hip hop affair that served godawful drinks (see my past review!), and on back to being a calm and casual neighborhood bar again. The interior never changes... dark... illuminated by candlelight... the bust of Shakespeare over the fireplace, the shelves of old books-- all of it remains intact. But this latest Library Bar seems to have finally dialed in what was always sorely missing in that it showcases a conscientious staff that all seem to know how to mix drinks while treating the customer well by leaving them be. On one night my date and I share a "Black Manhattan," basically a Manhattan with the generous addition of Averna, and it's terrific. On another night, I go for Happy Hour and a few pints of Guinness on draft that are surprisingly proper and go well with their excellent and, I'm told, homemade Hummus & Veggies Plate. The music at this current Library Bar is pretty much on point and is never so loud as to interfere with the conversations that patrons seem to come here for... something you should come here for too, and maybe at Happy Hour specifically if you're looking for a nice bump in your day and to spend an hour, well, happily.

I had placed a phone order, for pick up; upon arrival, I found the service was prompt. I saw my food ready to go, just past the main walk-in area. Almost immediately after that, I was taken care of by the host and on my way. I've been waiting to try this place for ages so on the drive back to work I was excited to steal a piece of meat from the bag. Initial bite flavor was good, meat was tender just a bit on the chewy side.. I wasn't bothered by it too much as I'd have to leave it in an oven warmer at work. Trying to keep food warm, in doing so, I knew there'd be only two possible outcomes, melting tender or either tough & dry. So, the dish of meat and rice sat in the warmer for almost an hour hour and a half. The downhill slope.... Set the "meat " on the veggies and began to eat. Meat after meat, I kept experiencing the same exact texture. It was the same exact rubbery chew, I initially tasted. Each and every piece was the same exact flavor. There was no peak, there was no pitfall. If you cook or grill, you know this is a red flag. Normally, consistency would be a good thing, a Master craftsman type experience, but this was NOT it. As go on, I get the sinking feeling, this can't be real meat. I lock in, the deeper I dig, each piece looks the same, broken apart the same, tastes the same, just various shapes. They can call me crazy for this one - I'll stand by it. Something is not right here. I'm not even going to throw it away. I'm going to study it for the next few days and post an updated review. However, the reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of the valet parking experience. First, I was charged $25 even though the sign clearly stated that valet parking is $17 for the first 3 hours, and $25 after 3 hours. Our reservation was at 6:30 PM, we arrived on time, and we left before 9 PM, so the charge did not make sense. When I asked the valet attendant, he kept saying, "because you dined there," without giving any clear explanation. If it is actually a flat rate for restaurant guests, then that should be clearly stated upfront to customers. Second, when I got into my car, I noticed that someone had touched the navigation settings because the compass direction and display were different from what I normally use. I do not understand why there was any need to adjust or touch my navigation system at all. I really think the restaurant needs to improve and better manage its valet parking system. Honestly, it felt like I was being charged a random price just because I was told, "you dined there." If there is a flat valet rate for restaurant guests, that information should be clearly communicated upfront instead of leaving customers confused at the end.

The drinks are tastefully mix and you feel right at home. I was expecting my pretzel bites to be stale as most bars with food aren't that great but they were soft and salted. They consistently check your tables to check on you and remove finished drinks and empty dishes. PARKING was soooo easy to find. Right beside it there's a parking garage and the charge was $10 for a Friday night. I love this place and I can't wait to go again

I came here with a friend around 11:30pm on a Saturday night. We came looking to play billiards,…read moreand boy did we have fun!! We got on the waitlist for billiards and were able to start playing immediately. It was $20 for one hour and we played for two hours. The drinks were wonderful, my friend and I shared a purple ube cocktail and a fresh lemony gin cocktail. I can't remember what they were called but they were so tasty that we ordered a second round. The live music also made everything so special. The performers were absolutely incredible. It was a little bit crowded in there, which would be fine if people didn't keep crowding standing around where they shouldn't be. Last call for drinks was 1:30am, and I think last call for food was 12:30am. At 1:30 we were told to move away from the games area and go upstairs. Everythung was great until I heard a bartender say that me and my friend were overstaying our welcome ... it was barely 1:45 and we were finishing our drinks. That was rude... After that we were told we still had 5mins. I guess we'll leave early next time. It was just rude to see bartenders point at us and loudly say we weren't welcome ...

Night out in LA…read more Parking: Welcome to LA where finding a parking spot sucks a--. Highly recommend getting dropped off or carpooling. We got lucky with steering parking two streets away. Ambiance/Environment: Looove the vibes here. They have a small space, so it can get hot real quick. They'll check IDs at the entrance. There's in n out privileges until a certain time. Music: If you're into house music, then this is the lounge for you. They have different DJs during each set. Drinks: They offer beer, cocktails, and wine. I don't remember the names of the beer, but it did the job lol. The Mango Sticky Rice cocktail was really strong; I enjoyed it!

You're here to stay and savor the experience. OC holds no flame to these LA vibes. Lots of cool people, they carry local beers and the bartender can serve up some awesome drinks. Do some street parking, check out Chinatown in all its old glory before the gentrification takes over.
