DOWNTOWN DTLA DECADENCE - absolutely beautiful ambiance has you feeling like you stepped into Tulum. The margaritas are next level (highly recommend the Jamaica one). And truly can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Fresh. Flavorful. Festive.

Enchiladas 8.5/10. Esquite was amazing lots of flavor.

I've been to this location many times but never really felt the need to give a review til today. I had an amazing waiter named Jesse , his Customer service was phenomenal. Very nice and accommodating, having these type of people in your team is really important because customers will come back because they feel welcomed and at home. I would recommend possibly giving that man a raise or promotion.

I love Javier's! Javier's was the first upscale Mexican restaurant I visited upon moving to California in 2000. Laguna Beach was their first location and I lived just above Main Beach so could walk there. Fast forward, 25 years later and they have expanded and renovated Newport Beach, opened Irvine and launched a gorgeous location in DTLA. The details and tequila here are the best! This location is perfect for a libation and appetizer before a game or event at Crypto Arena. It is a simple jaunt across the street. The margaritas are solid, the chips are thin and the guacamole flavorful. A grand archway greets you, cushy chairs at the bar and a lovely fireplace area for everything from a quick bite to a full meal. I look forward to visiting again in DTLA. #Javiers #SoCalFavorite #DTLA #Guacamole

Javier's in LA never misses. From the moment we walked in, the energy was upscale but still welcoming -- the perfect vibe for a night out. The food? Incredible. Every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with bold, authentic flavor. The drinks were just as impressive -- perfectly balanced and strong enough to matter. And the service was attentive without being overbearing, which made the whole experience feel effortless. Javier's is definitely one of those spots you go to when you want great food, great ambiance, and an overall elevated dining experience. I'll absolutely be back.

The food was very good and the place is absolutely beautiful. We ordered the quesadilla with meat ($32 or $38, can't remember exactly). It came with guacamole which was really good. We had the mariscos enchiladas ($55) and our favorite one was the lobster one. The drinks were good, especially the guava one but also on the pricey side ($22-$25 each). The best was probably the tres leches cake ($16). The service was generally good but slow at times. Definitely a place we wanted to try, but I'm not sure if we would go back or maybe for a special occasion. As many reviews say, it is on the pricey side for the food you get.

Came here with a friend and had such a great experience. It's definitely a bit on the pricier side, but the quality, service, and overall vibe make it worth it. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We ordered an espresso martini that was so good, and the atmosphere is really cute, perfect for taking photos. Great spot for a girls night or catching up with a friend

Had dinner here on Wednesday 4/1/26 and we were very impressed by this location. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was good! Guacamole always flavorful. We had steak picado which is made with filet mignon cooked to order and the sea food enchiladas. An espresso martini which was excellent and the tamarindo margarita! But drinker beware! - their drinks are good and strong! So good I forgot to take more pictures! Definitely on our list of favorites!

The ambiance was great. They definitely did a great job with the inside decor. Our waiter Pedro was wonderful. Service was good. Unfortunately the experience we had with our meals was not. The food was the worst "Mexican" food I've ever tasted. It was my son's birthday dinner and we were extremely disappointed with the quality of food. It was sooo bland with no flavor. Absolutely zero salt or spice. I ordered fajitas and it tasted like it was boiled meat with some type of watery sauce. I did a mix of chicken and steak and they up charge almost $30 more for very little meat with NO flavor. My son ordered trio enchiladas. He was not amazed by any means. This location only offers valet parking for a ridiculous price. Don't waste your time or money here.

This location is across the street from the LA convention center. Parking is inside the Circa. The entrance to restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance, interior decorations are serene. We had a drink at the bar first and Joey was polite and welcoming. We came for a company holiday outing and the service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the Chile relleno one cheese and the other with meat. The cheese was delicious, I didnt like the meat option, it wasn't a flavor profile I enjoyed. The appetizers: ceviche and guacamole were so good even the chips were salted nicely. Sitting at the bar with Joey, our drinks were well made. Not sure if another bartender completed table drinks. But, it was different. All in all, good experience

Javier's is always good. It's a place I keep going back when near one. Their shrimp empanadas are our favorite!! Never really had anything we didn't enjoy! Our first time at the DTLA location, services was not the best here. They changed the sauce on the shrimp order, it was okay here. Would definitely make the drive to Century City next time. Still had a good meal.

The food here was very delicious. The atmosphere was terrific and service was top notch. The steak Picado was tender and flavorful. The chips and salsa were addicting. The gauc here was awesome as well. Items on the menu is on the pricey side. But have to experience the food once was worth it

Absolutely beautiful restaurant in the heart of downtown LA. Stopped in for a drink and sat at the bar. Extensive margarita list and every tequila you can imagine. I opted for the spicy skinny margarita and it was so fresh and delicious. Service was fine, nothing great. Bartender makes a mean marg but wasn't much for conversation which is fine. Food looked amazing and would definitely try next time I'm in town.

I have been wanting to come to this location since it opened. I absolutely love Javier's. The ambiance is stunning and moody. The service was fast and welcoming even on a Friday night. The drinks are always so good. I had a jalapeño margarita (Two actually) they were not overly sweet and worth it. I also had the chicken enchiladas (enchiladas suzias con pollo). These are hands down the best enchiladas I have ever had from a restaurant. They reminded me of my childhood. Quantity was good. I was able to take home leftovers which was a big plus. I would love to come here again and I would recommend to anyone I have been wanting to come to this location since it opened. I absolutely love Javier's. The ambiance is stunning and moody. The type of bar you choose is important. But sometimes, the Bar Chooses You! Bar Magnolia quietly enters the chat. It was October 11th, 2025 and my wife & I just checked into Hotel Figueroa in DTLA. (EPIC REVIEW Coming Soon!!!) While we were waiting for our room to be ready, we decided to check out the Hotel Bar Lounge... First thought, Color me Impressed! High ceilings, Natural lighting, classy decor, comfy couches... Yeah, take your time with that room, we'll wait! So we plopped down onto their sofa, waited for a cocktail menu, and let the "we left the kids at home with Grandma; let's enjoy being kid-free for the night begin". $18.00 cocktails....Lets Goooo!! Looking back at the Photos, I can't exactly recall what we ordered... Was it a whiskey sour? Was it a paper plane?? Honestly, Who cares! They tasted great. I was sitting across from a beautiful woman. And we were responsibly adulting. What more could a guy ask for?? I'm glad you asked! After a long car ride in, sipping on water, then the first few sips of my cocktail, I suddenly had to go... Luckily, the restrooms are located just adjacent to the bar area and DAMN are they clean!! Hey, if a bar restroom is well taken care of, you know the place has Class.... And Bar Magnolia has the Class to Match! Of course, there is bar stool seating at the bar... Middle Man (Aka waiting for your server to come check back in) In addition to the bar top stools, there are also low top tables, and a few couch-chairs with a low top table for more intimate conversations. Besides those $18 craft cocktails, a short, well Curated list of bubbles, vino and draft beers are all up for grabs. Unfortunately, we had stopped to eat before we arrived (bad move on our part), but next time, and THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME, we will definitely partake in their food menu (cause damn, did it look GOOD!) So whether you are a guest of Hotel Figueroa, you are leaving the Crypto Arena after a concert and want to paint the town red, or you are simply just wanting to sit, relax and enjoy a nice cocktail at a classy, upscale, but not so pretentious Cocktail Lounge... Bar Magnolia is your place! Well, it's almost closing time, they are about to call for Last Call, so order us another round, bottoms up and Cheers to us!!!

After being seated 40 minutes later, service took 20 minutes to take our order, and another 30 minutes to be served. Food was 'okay', there was no entertainment, and multiple customers were unhappy with similar slow service... but some of them were comped parts of their meals.. we didn't even get a sorry until we spoke to the manager on our way out, expressing the reason was they had no idea it would be this busy on a Thursday (they take reservations, so...), and also blamed an 'all you can eat promotion' they promoted earlier, and they only had two serves on staff that night. 4) We were late to Mr. Wanderlust, but were luck to get two seats at the bar after another couple left. We order two cocktails and a coffee... and were charged just over $140. Then, we were asked to move because they wanted to take our seats. We asked about the bill to the bartendar, and she expressed that since she didn't take our original order, she couldn't help us. She simply just had us stand there. We were not going to pay since it seemed way off... until finally we spoke to a guy walking by. We showed him our ticket/receipt and said out loud, "this isn't right". He came back quickly with a revised bill of almost $120. This was still far too high, but no one else seemed interested in helping us find resolve, so we ate it since we didn't want to be late for part 3 of the night. 5) Hoping to salvage the night with drinks and dancing... we tried to find the entrance to Sinners and Santos for their advertised Latin night. We had made reservations here too, and had full confirmation of the reservation... BUT, after finally being directed to the entrance (outside on the patio), they were closed. No sign of why and no one who worked at the other locations had a reason, but they were just simply closed. 6) So, after paying $35 for parking, about $140 in cocktails and food while waiting for our initial reservation at Golden Hour and Que Barbaro, $150+ for dinner at Lucky Mizu, and $120 at Mr. Wanderlust... approximately $500 total... we didn't even get to dance. Maybe this place had a bad night, but based on what the workers said, and how they treated us... it sure seems like the norm. Don't get me wrong, the place is cool... some really great experiential elements and nice photo ops... but I would have had a much better time somewhere else. Super disappointed in this place.

The interior never changes... dark... illuminated by candlelight... the bust of Shakespeare over the fireplace, the shelves of old books-- all of it remains intact. But this latest Library Bar seems to have finally dialed in what was always sorely missing in that it showcases a conscientious staff that all seem to know how to mix drinks while treating the customer well by leaving them be. On one night my date and I share a "Black Manhattan," basically a Manhattan with the generous addition of Averna, and it's terrific. On another night, I go for Happy Hour and a few pints of Guinness on draft that are surprisingly proper and go well with their excellent and, I'm told, homemade Hummus & Veggies Plate. The music at this current Library Bar is pretty much on point and is never so loud as to interfere with the conversations that patrons seem to come here for... something you should come here for too, and maybe at Happy Hour specifically if you're looking for a nice bump in your day and to spend an hour, well, happily.

I finally was able to check it off, thanks to a hotel offer with a dining credit. Dahlia is the gorgeous petite space behind the larger ground floor restaurant space now called Cabrillo (formerly Caldo Verde). Dahlia opened as a bespoke cocktail lounge, then began to offer tea. Now it's just tea. There are five 2-tops and two 4-top tables. All food and beverage venues at the Proper used to be under the auspices of famed chef Suzanne Goin and her business partner/sommelier Caroline Styne. They are no longer affiliated with the Proper, but many of their dishes/contributions remain. The last named vestige of them is on the tea menu, "Suzanne's Deviled-Egg Sandwich". The tea menu has several options: Classic, with a seasonal mocktail, or with different champagnes. I opted for the Classic experience, because the mocktail had mocha, not my fave. Server Lluvia was clearly a Dahlia veteran; she offered a tea-smelling of all the teas that interested me as well as crowd favourites. I ultimately chose one of these faves, Mad Hatter's Tea Party, which had passionfruit and vanilla. I declined milk/cream, but did get lemon. There were rock sugar sticks on the table. It seems the selection of tea sandwiches and sweet treats changes every so often, although the vanilla bean scone, dried currant scone, Devonshire cream and apricot orange jam seem like constants. The sandwich selection at my visit were: cucumber, crab/creme fraiche, beet hummus on pita, smoked salmon and Suzanne's deviled egg. All were delish, the beet, crab and deviled egg especially. The sweet treats were: orange fig butter cookie, spiced apple brown butter crumble, cranberry frangipane hand pie, chocolate mocha macaron, pumpkin madeleine, plus the 2 scones. All were excellent. There were no leftovers. A bit pricey, but a relaxing and lovely experience. The room was not crowded when I visited, adding to the calmness of my visit.

It's not surprising given the neighborhood and decor, but I think they lean towards more Japanese spirits and beers. For someone like me who's never been to Japan I feel like there's a traditional Japanese theme going on inside with lots of wood. A few friends and I came here on a holiday before dinner. Happy hour specials were still going on. I'm not sure if they thought they were gonna get that much business on a holiday but I think there's only maybe one or two people behind the bar. Since it was early when we got there, it was still not that crowded. I got the special which was a shot of Japanese whisky and a beer. Great price! Haha. I've walked by before where this place is really crowded so I assume there's a lot more people working behind the bar during the regular busy hours. Just a great place to grab drink drinks.

We were at Little Tokyo over the weekend and saw this business with the catch-y name and had to go…read moreinside. You must be 21 to enter. No exceptions, as I witnessed a family who really wanted to come in but had an 18 yr old so they weren't allowed in and because they had a minor with them they couldn't even sit outside in their seating area. Always good to know. Inside the bar got super busy. The inside was a bit dark but again it is a bar. I like the decor and the bar seating was packed. The drinks were good if you like whiskey they have it along with lists of beer options. Nice spot to try out.

My girlfriend and I ordered two Old Fashioneds made with Ilegal Mezcal. The bottle being used was nearly empty, and as professionals in the hospitality industry, we are very familiar with proper pour standards. It was clear there wasn't enough product left for two consistent drinks. The bartender, Bryan, prepared both cocktails without using a jigger. When I politely asked why one drink appeared noticeably lighter than the other and why he wasn't measuring the pour, he smirked, gave a slight laugh, and responded that he "knows the exact measurement of his glasses." The tone and gesture felt dismissive and mocking rather than professional. Instead of addressing a reasonable concern with transparency, the response came across as defensive and condescending. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity was automatically added, bringing the total to $71.12 for two inconsistent Old Fashioneds. Precision, consistency, and respect are basic standards in this industry. Unfortunately, this experience did not reflect that. We won't be returning.

As for the drinks, I had their Long Island, carrot margarita, and paloma. All three were excellent and tasted wonderful, but the carrot margarita was my favorite. The people I went with loved it too, so be sure to try it when you're there. Overall, this was a great spot to hang out with friends and have a good time. Whether you want to dance or just sit and chill, you can't go wrong coming here.

Hi, I don't usually leave reviews, but after three separate visits, I felt it was necessary to…read moreshare my experience. A group of my friends and I have come here three different times, really wanting to like this place because the atmosphere is beautiful and lively. Unfortunately, each visit has been consistently disappointing due to the same bartender--a shorter male with visible tattoos and facial hair, who seems to regularly work one side of the bar. On all three occasions, we experienced being ignored while trying to order, even as other guests who arrived after us were served first. The first time, we were eventually told "you guys can wait" in a rude tone of voice while he continued taking other orders. The second time, we were never helped at all and had to move to another part of the bar, where a female bartender provided much better service. The third visit was the most concerning. When we tried to get his attention, he responded in a dismissive and rude tone, and as he walked away, we overheard him make an inappropriate comment about us under his breath calling us out of our name and we felt very disrespected so much so that we just left. We completely understand that weekends can get busy, but consistently dismissive and disrespectful service--especially across multiple visits--is not acceptable and we've also seen him be rude to other guests as well. Aside from this issue, the venue itself is great, which is why we gave it multiple chances. I really hope management can address this, as it impacts the overall appearance and experience of the establishment. Thank you.
